CRRuntime_12_0.msm and Crystal Reports Server X1 R2 SP2

I have installed an app onto a server with the CRRuntime merge module in the project setup file. Although I have removed the app no .NET app which loads a crystal report will run on the server. Is there a conflict between the CRRuntime and the Crystal Reports Server please?
I cannot see any evidence of the runtime remaining on the server but would appreciate any comments.
Many thanks
Ian Carr

Hi Ian,
Likely what has happened when you un-installed is the Microsoft Installer did not completely remove all our references in the registry. CR Server is possibly looking for the CR 12 folders which no longer exist.
Try doing a repair install from Add/Remove Programs for CRS.
You could search the registry for any CR 12 key's but I don't recommend removing them. Repairing should put 11.5 first in the list and should resolve the problem.
Thank you
Don

    hello,
I have to develop reports which will be used by a group of 100 to 150 users and total reports are 7 and each report will be around 100-150 pages each. So i am in the process of evaluvation BOE and CR server. Can any body help me out in this.

    Trying something new

    Hello Prem,
The Concurrent Access License is per-user logon to Crystal Report Server or BusinessObjects Enterprise.
Each User logon will increment the CAL.  If a User logs on twice, then CAL is increased by two.  A CAL will not be released until a User logs off.  If the maximum number of CALs have been attained, further logon attempts will be denied.
With a Named User License, you can have a number of active Users up to the number of NUL that you've purchased.  The named user can connect multiple times to the system.  If you would like to add additional Users beyond the NUL that you have, you either have to purchase further NUL, or disable a User already there.
In either case, the CAL or NUL won't work like the CPL that you have with the JRC - license management is handled by the Enterprise system.
With Licensing for the Server or Enterprise, each user accessing reports must be named within the system.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Windows Server 2008 x64 and Crystal Reports Server Embedded

We're attempting to certify our software with Windows Server 2008 x64 and want to know the best way to configure both the server and client of Crystal Reports Server Embedded.  Currently, our software is certified against Windows Server 2003 x86, and we install Crystal Reports Server Embedded XI Release 2 (no SP) on the application server, and we deploy the Crystal Reports .NET merge modules for XI Release 2 (no SP) on any client machines.
I believe I am correct in stating that no version of Crystal Reports Server Embedded officially supports Windows Server 2008 x64 (based on some other forum postings) until SP1 comes out (which I don't think has happened at this point).  If that is true, we can live with installing the RAS on a separate Windows Server 2003 x64, if that's even possible.  With that said, can we even get our Windows Server 2008 x64 running with the latest Crystal Reports 2008 .NET merge modules?  We've tried many different configurations between CR XI R2 SPs and CR 2008 for both client and server and have very little luck (either it won't install correctly because of x64 or missing .cabs, etc.) on both the client and server side of things.
Can someone suggest the optimal configuration when Windows Server 2008 x64 is in the mix, noting that we can use a secondary Windows Server 2003 (x64 preferred but can fallback to x86)?  Or do we have to wait for Crystal Reports Server Embedded 2008 SP1 to be released, and if so, does anyone know of the date?
    Thanks,
    Ross Beehler

CRSE 2008 is a 32 bit app, it works on 64 bit OS's but all parts must also be running in 32 bit mode.

  • Crystal Report Server XI R2 SP2 for Linux??

    Post Author: plambrechtsen
    CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
HelloTrying to get Crystal Report Server XI R2 on Linux working, I have downloaded the latest eval version that I could find aka "crsxir2linuxdisc1.tar.gz" and  "crsxir2linuxdisc2.tar.gz" and plugged in the XI R2 Eval Code.In theory I should be able to use my Crystal XI license code to license R2... but the Server does not accept the XI license code.Is it just me or is Crystal Server Patching REALLY confusing or what.... There doesn't seem to be a clear place to download anything later than the XI R2 shipping code for Crystal Server either for Windows or for Linux.  The latest version of Developer is easy to find.... what about Crystal Server?

Answered my own question.  Managed to upgrade to 5.0 following this process, but follow these instructions with care...
    1.  Stop all CMS services in Config Manager.
    2. Go to Add/Remove programs and click "change" for Crystal Reports Server XI.  Click on "Modify" then change the entry for MySQL4.1.13a to "Entire Feature will be unavailable" (from Enterprise -> Server Components -> Servers - > Central Management Server).  This will remove the existing mySQL version and any data/license key information/customisation, so be wary.
    3. Install the desired version of mySQL.
    4. Use the MySql command line to create a new database - "create DATABASE BOE115;"
    5. In the Central Config Manager, select the CMS and display its properties.  Select the Dependencies tab and remove the old version of mySQL and add the new version.  Click on the Config tab, then Select Datasource.  Select mySQL driver, then complete the details for the newly created database.  Once complete it will still produce an error, at which point you need to select the options to Re-create the Current Datasource.
    6. Once the datasource is sucessfully recreated, restart the Crystal service in the Config Manager.
    7. Open the Config tool, and add your license key. Then Re-Enable all the servers within the Servers page.
    8.  Any other customisation or preferences would need to be re-applied.
This worked for me, but obviously take care as your existing mySQL database will be completely removed during the process.

  • Issues with Microsoft Vista and Crystal Report XI R2 with SP2

    Hi,
I have an application which works fine on XP but fails to work on Vista. When I go to view a report I get the following error:
"The request could not be submitted for background processing."
I have searched a great deal but most solutions to this problem affect other versions or are for different reasons (ie. also do not work on XP). My report viewer works as expected on XP, but not on Vista.
I have installed SP2 for CRXI R2 which should enable compatibility with Vista. I am using Visual Studio 2005.
Anyone have any ideas or come across Vista problems?
MS Vista Business, joined to a domain. 1.7gig. 512 ram. Test machine.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jon.

The "...background processing..." error can occur for many different reasons, but usually, it's is related to some kind of database connectivity.  Are you reports based on ADO.NET?  If so, make sure that the data being returned in your ADO.NET object machines the schema used to design the report.
The best way I troubleshoot these types of issues is to simply the app/report.  So create a really simple Windows app that loads your reports and has only the necessary code to run your report.  And then copy your test app and report to the machine and see if it throws the same error.  This would test if it's an environmental issue (ie: runtime files) or if it's something with the logic of your application.
Also, if it's possible, try running the report from the CR Designer on the Vista machine to see if it can run from the designer itself.  Of course this means you'll need to install CR if you don't already have it.
Hopefully this puts you in the right direction.

  • Crystal Reports Server XI , Infoview and Internet Explorer 7

    Hi,
We have just upgraded to IE 7 and we are facing some problems in the Crystal Reports Viewer that is launched from Infoview when users run reports off of Crystal Reports Server XI.
    - there is no horizontal scroll bar
    - the print button on the CR Viewer does not work
    - there is no busy/hourglass symbol to indicate the report is running
    etc.
Has anyone experienced problems like this?
Any solutions or Service Packs or updates we can use?
    thanks

  • Drop down boxes ok in Crystal Reports but not ok in Crystal Reports Server

I have the following problem with "dynamic dropdowns"
Initially, I have a Crystal Report (.rpt).  It has two dynamic drop downs. They work
in both Crystal Reports Designer (preview)  and Crystal Reports Server (right-click-View).
The first drop down is the result of a rather complex sql query. The second drop down
is a child of the first.
I make a small change to the sql "WHERE" clause using the Crystal Reports Designer. It works fine in preview.
I save (Enterprise mode) to Crystal Server. I use Business View Manager to configure
the _DC_n object.  (I did notice that the .._DC_n gets incremented by one.)
The _DF object seems to know about the updated sql so I do not have change it.
However, when I go to back to Crystal Reports Server, and right-click-View, the
"dynamic dropdown" is not working properly.  I can not make sense
    of what has been retrieved.
Please tell me what is most likely to have gone wrong here?  The Business View Manager
seemed to knew about the sql change. But Crystal Reports Server has
not responded to the change in the same way as Crystal Reports Designer.
                       ...thank you, Stan

When you publish a report to Crystal Server, the dynamic prompts are no longer handled in the report itself.  Instead depending on how they're published, they either go away or they're published to the "repository" and managed through the "Business View Manager" (BVM), which is available as part of the Client Tools install.
To get the dynamic prompt into the repository, you have to check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox at the bottom of the "Save As" screen after you log in to CRS.  However, doing it this way is NOT best practice, especially if you're using the query from the report to provide the data for the prompt.  If you do this for all of your reports, you get a LOT of bloat in the repository objects and it makes the job of migrating from one version of CRS to another MUCH more difficult!
What I've done in the past to get a simple "sample" prompt published is create a report that just contains the data that I want to have in the dynamic parameter using a single table - this is usually what I call a "lookup" table that has a "code" field and a "description" or "name" field.  I then create a dynamic parameter in that report that just pulls the data from the single table.  I'll publish the report to my favorites with the Repository Refresh enabled.
I then run the BVM and look for the following objects (default location is under "Cascading Dynamic Prompts":
<prompt name>_DC - This is the Data Connection for the prompt.  Edit this, enter the password, and set it to "Never Prompt" for the password.  NOTE:  This DC can be reused by multiple prompts.  If you continue to add prompts through publishing Crystal Reports with prompts, you will get MANY of  these that all point to the same database!
<prompt name>_DF - This is the Data Foundation for the prompts.  When you create a new one, you need to select an existing DC and then either one or more tables or write a command to provide the data for your prompt.  It works much like the Database Explorer in Crystal.  The one that was just saved has all of the information required for the prompt.
<prompt name>_BE - This is the Business Element.  When you create one, you have to select and existing DF and one or more fields.  You can also create a filter on the data.  This is used to generate the SQL that will be run to provide the data for the prompt.
<prompt name>_ BV - This is the Business View.  When you create one, you have to select the Business Element.  I'm not sure of the exact purpose of this, but you have to have one in order to set up the "List of Values".
<prompt name> - This is the List of Values (LOV).  This defines what fields are available for the prompt itself.
You can create folders to organize these objects so that its easier to maintain.
To use a LOV that you've defined in BVM to feed data to new dynamic prompts, do the following:
    1.  Connect to CRS from Crystal.
    2.  Create/Edit your prompt.
    3.  Set the prompt to be dynamic.
    4.  Under "Choose a Data Source", select "Existing" and select the LOV from the drop-down list.
    5.  Update the properties in the parameter.
When viewing or scheduling a report, the dynamic prompts will run through the Crystal Reports 2013 Report Application Server in CRS (it will be named differently if you're not on CRS 2013, but will have "Report Application Server" in the name.)

  • Report works on CR Developer XI but not on Crystal Reports Server

I have a crystal report I created in Crystal Reports Developer XI that uses a command.  The code is as follows:
    select     supplier.supplier_sc, price_list.supplier_id, doc_line.doc_head_sc, product.product_id, product.product_n, price_list.unit_price, price_list.price_list_id,convert(varchar(50),product.product_n)+ ': $' + convert(varchar(50),price_list.unit_price)
    from     price_list, supplier, product, doc_line
    where     price_list.supplier_id = supplier.supplier_id AND
              price_list.product_id = doc_line.product_id AND
              supplier.supplier_id = price_list.supplier_id AND
              price_list.product_id = product.product_id AND
              doc_line.doc_head_sc like 'REQ%'
I've tested this in SQL directly and it works as expected.  Furthermore in Crystal Reports Developer XI it works fine there too.  Basically the calculated column reprsented by the code: (convert(varchar(50),product.product_n) ': $' + convert(varchar(50),price_list.unit_price)+ shows up as the following as a sub-parameter for my test example:
    Dell 1600 Printer: $125.00
    Dell 1600 Printer: $150.00
But once it is published to Crystal Reports Server, it shows up as:
    Dell 1600 Printer
    Dell 1600 Printer
It isn't combining the columns as expected.  This particular sub-parameter is supposed to pull the product name and all the various price list amounts for the particular supplier chosen earlier.  I've tried re-publishing it, but to no avail.  What am I doing wrong?
I'm running Crystal Reports Developer XI 11.0.0.1282 and Crystal Reports Server 11.5 in case that is relevant.

    Moved to BOE forums.

  • Column level access in Crystal Report Server

<p>Hi,</p><p>I have three fields in my Crystal Report. The crystal report will be exported to PDF by my customised web application. The application has a built in user security and access control model. However if user 1 logs in he should see all the 3 columns(database fields) on the exported PDF. If user 2 logs in he should see only first 2 columns as he has access to only those. We would also be using Crystal Report Server.</p><p>I know this could be done in Crystal Report itself but is there any way to leverage column level access (and also row level) functionality using Crystal Report Server. The Crystal Report reports off an ODBC Datasource.</p><p>It would be great if any one could help me in this regard.</p><p> Cheers. </p><p>&#160;</p>

If you were running the same version designer and server, you could open your reports straight from the repository, and save them straight back. Then you wouldnt have multiple versions of RPTs flying about.

  • Crystal Report Server XI R2

    Hi,
We have been using Crystal Reports XI and Crystal Report Server XI.
As part of a series of upgrades we wanted to upgrade to Release 2 of each product. The Crystal Reports XI R2 upgrade went fine but when I try to upgrade Crystal Reports Server XI it says the key codes are invalid or obsolete.
We have "no-expiring" codes for each product. Do we need new codes for Crystal Report Server xi R2 and if so how do we obtain them?
    Thanks,

Thanks for the information...I'm new to this process with SAP.
Can you provide me an additional information on exactly how you go about requesting the keys from SAP Market Place and do you know if there is a cost associated with the  XI R3 version?

    Hi Everyone,
I've just installed CRS 2008 onto a Windows Server 2003 machine and it works using the Enterprise Authentication.
When I go into the CMC and choose Authentication then Windows NT, I fill in all the necessary information such as the Default NT Domain and the Mapped NT Member Group. When I save everything ( Update ) and logout, Windows NT Authentication doesn't appear even though I have enabled it.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 on Windows 2003 Server

We have Crystal Reports Server 2008 installed on Windows 2003 Server. Pretty standard install.
On the same Windows 2003 Server, we have IIS setup to host some other sites (data.mycompany.com, intranet.mycompany.com). Now since Crystal Reports Server 2008 is running through Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 that is installed with Crystal Reports Server 2008. I need to setup something like reports.mycompany.com for reporting server. Since it is not in IIS and it does not seem that this install of Tomcat allows you to set this up to point to reports.mycompany.com. I need some feedback on how to set this up.
