CRS-5005: IP Address: 1*.9*.1*.3 is already in use in the network
Hi,
I'm in a bit of a mess here. I have a two node RAC environment that as of yesterday was working fine. We bounced the node 1 server and ever since the cluster VIP is not starting on node 1.
When I run ./srvctl start vip -i db01-vip I get the following error.
PRCR-1079 : Failed to start resource ora.db01.vip
CRS-5005: IP Address: 1*.9*.1*.3 is already in use in the network
CRS-2674: Start of 'ora.db01.vip' on 'db01' failed
CRS-5005: IP Address: 1*.9*.1*.3 is already in use in the network
CRS-2674: Start of 'ora.db01.vip' on 'db02' failed
CRS-2632: There are no more servers to try to place resource 'ora.db01.vip' on that would satisfy its placement policy
I have tried rebooting the box
I have checked the interfaces with ifconfig and nothing is using the VIP address.
I have stopped and started all oracle processes.
I have tried srvctl stop nodeapps -n db01... ifdown eth2... ifdown eth2.
I can ping the IP.
I have tried disabling the VIP and rebooting.
But all above attempts have failed.
I am still pretty new to Oracle RAC so I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The logical assumption is that some other network device is using the IP address that you have assigned as virtual IP to the cluster.
Have you confirmed that this is not the case?

Ethernet MAC address has changed and I can no longer connect to the network
I have a new iMac, 21.5" running 10.6.4. It was purchased in the past month.
I am using it on an ethernet network and using DHCP to obtain the address. It has been working for the past few weeks. I turned it on today and it is failing to connect. After some digging around, it seems that the MAC address (Ethernet ID) has been reset to 00:10:18:00:00:00. This is different to the one it has been using last week.
I have not changed any network settings. Airport is working fine.
If I pull out the ethernet cable and reinsert, the machine tries to obtain an IP address. After a while, it returns with a self-assigned IP Address.
Last week, I did notice that it was taking a relatively long time (a minute or so) to obtain the IP address over ethernet. Plugging the same ethernet cable in a macbook, I am able to obtain the IP address for the macbook much more quickly.
I see that I could use ipconfig to change the interface address to what I believe is the correct address. Would this be sensible?
Why would the machine have reset the MAC address anyway?
Regards,
NeilDear all,
I am having the same problem with a new MacBook Pro, bought end of October - for me it became apparent for software (Matlab, Comsol) that are registered with a licence file which was created based on the MAC address, and also when trying to register the computer to the company network. That software will only work those times that the computer "knows" its real MAC. Also, I found that audible audio books, managed through itunes, will not synchronize with the ipod at those times when the MAC address is at the producer's default (00:10:15:00:00). I never had network issues other than this computer registration, - no probs at home or elsewhere - , so it will depend on the individual setup which issue users observe.
I have had long phone discussions with different Apple support people, they have done checks based on Capture Data that I sent to them via email, etc.. They can't find the problem in the software/setup and they advised me to go the Genius Bar and have those guys look at the computer's guts.
Restarting sometimes did set the MAC to the real one, also running the code that someone suggested in Terminal sometimes helped.
Other than that, looking through the web, it does not seem to be an Apple-unique problem, but certainly one would like to see support to take care of that issue for Macs soon.
Also, thanks a lot for this thread! Otherwise the support guys on the phone would not have believed my : "the Mac address changes on a daily basis" and would just have brushed me off.
All the best,
Susanne

Ref:How to find the IP address is already in USE
I am trying to install the Oracle 10g RAC - 2 Node. When I am running vipca I am getting CRS-1006 saying that IP is already in use in the network. The vip IP address is giving issues. It is successfully installed the Cluster software and Database Software but It could not start the or create the LISTENER_. My question is how can we find that an IP address is already in use. so that we can give other IP address.
Thanks in advance.Check both nodes:
[root@vmractest1 ~]# nslookup <VIP address>
to reconfirm which host machine is already using this.
disable the adress
[root@vmractest1 ~]# ifconfig -a | grep 10.4.10.46
[root@vmractest1 ~]# ifconfig -a | grep 10.4.10.47
check destination is unreachable
[root@vmractest1 ~]# ping 10.4.10.46
[root@vmractest1 ~]# ping 10.4.10.47

I have just bought an Iphone 4s to compliment my Ipad Air, I want to use my Icloud address on both machines but cant get my iphone to accept my icloud address, it tells me it is already in use and to create a new one, which is not what I want.. How do I get the same email on both devices?
it tells me it is already in use
You will need to contact the previous owner of the iPhone in order to change the Apple ID. -
Can't get any IP address from DHCP, but unattributed IP adress "already in use"
Hello,
I have a mac mini with a manual IP address (192.168.1.121) which connects fine to the internet through ethernet.
When switching to DHCP instead of manual, no IP address is ever given to me (blank space after IP adress: in the network prefpane)
however, I immediately have an alert popup that says the address 192.168.1.150 is already in use.
I wonder where I could change this 192.168.1.150 address since I do not have this setting at all on this machine on any Network Port, not in Airport and not in ethernet. (I have no other network ports)
How can I change a setting that I didn't make in the first place?
The console reports the problem once every second also, and there is quite a general slowdown and beachball because of this.
I tried to renew DHCP lease but it stays blank too.
I also try to delete ethernet interface, and trash the Network configuration in the general Library, reboot, recreate it but the problem remains.
I also have reinstalled Snow Leopard and applied updates with no better luck.
Thank you very much everyone if you have a clue. When you changed the setting to DHCP, did you click the Apply button? Also, you need to restart after changing from a manual IP address so the router can assign an unused address to the Mac when it detects it during startup.

As header says how do you fix this?
I had two Apple accounts prior to iCloud's debut along with a separate MobileMe account. I'm not sure how things were set up prior, but now with iCloud, I just realised that I can log in to apple.com with my former MobileMe email address. So now I have three Apple accounts.
I use my former MobileMe email address to log in to iMessage. If you don't do this, when you try to use the temporary location sharing feature of Find My Friends, you'll get some kind of error message regarding this.
The additional email address I wanted to add to iMessage was used as the primary Apple ID for one of my other Apple accounts and as a secondary address in the other. I had to resolve both of these issues before I could use this email address as a secondary address with iMessage. For the former, I had to use a different email address for the primary Apple ID while for the latter, I had to simply remove the email address as a secondary address in the account.
You can manage all your Apple accounts at https://appleid.apple.com. Hope this helps. -

You are running ut of ephemeral ports. Set a lower
TcpTimedWaitDelay and
a higher MaxUserPort in your registry. MS has a KB article on
that.

My current Apple ID, for which all of my content has been downoaded (e.g., music, apps) is associated with a work email address that I will no longer have access to in the near future. In my Apple ID account, I noticed I had two alternate emails listed, one is my .me account and the other is my .gmail account. I use my .gmail account, and it is the primary email I use with friends and family. I noticed both were not verified, and when I tried to, it said they were both associated with other accounts. I was able to log into a separate Apple ID account I must have set up at tone point with my .gmail, and I changed the email address to a new one I created. I also deleted the gmail account from any other Apple-relted account I could think of. I am still gettgin the same error message when I try to add it to my current Apple ID: "This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID."
My concern is this: with FaceTime and now iMessage, it seems more important than ever that I am able to use my correct email address. With iOS5 beta, I cannot enter either my .gmail or.me accounts under "You can be reached for messages at:" as I get an error stating: Unable to verify email because it is already in use."
How can I remedy this issue and assign my .gmail account to my Apple ID?Re: Cant verify Apple ID
created by kelly218 in iTunes Store - View the full discussion
I just spoke with a technician at Apple. I hsven't been able to verify because the wife has the phone. but he said all that you need to do is:
1) Go to Settings --> iTunes Store and login with your Apple ID and pwd
2) Go to Settings --> iCloud and login with your Apple ID and pwd
seems that the phone requires you to login to the store first... -

Thanks for your reply. Having read through relevant topics it suggests that if I sync my iphone with the correct account on my pc it should use that one thereafter. i will try both.

On the Update Apple ID screen to use ICloud, I get a red message that email address is already being used. It does not accept my email address? I do not understand what the screen is asking me. Is this because I am using the apple ID on a netbook for this note or what.
Is there a way to bypass this screen if I don't want to use ICloud? I don't want to screw up the original setup of my imac. If I could get to the desktop, then I would know what OS and programs are in my machine.Hi, hopefully you've called Apple on this... you have 90 days free phone support.

But then there was still no Internet access even after I have disconnected all other home computers (a total of four including the Macbook and one iMac desktop. For simplicity, I shall categorically called them Mac hereafter unless otherwise specified. The Macs are operating on WiFi.).
The window message recommends changing the IP of either the Macs or the other device. The latter of course does not apply because I don't think the other device is one of my computers.
My questions:
(1) Why did that happen suddenly since the Mac and other computers on the WiFi was working fine in the morning (as well as days before) and then all of a sudden an unknown device is using my computer's IP? As far as I (we) can remember, we did not do any thing unusual this morning nor had we downloaded any special programs.
(2) How do I change the IP since it requires Internet acess to do it and since I can't access the Internet on the Mac?
(3) I am almost sure the problem is not caused by the Internet service because when I connected the Ethernet cable from the DSL modem to an old Windows PC, I got Internet via Internet Explorer. [I am actually sending out this message via IE on my PC.] However, when I cennected the Ethernet line from the modem to a WiFi router (Airport Extreme) and then connect the router and the old PC, I did not get Internet on either the Mac nor the PC. Similarly, there was no Internet on both Mac and PC If I connect Ethernet only between the modem and the router but not between PC and router. So, the question is whether a third unknown party has gotten hold of my Mac IP address and is trying to break into the Mac? Can it steal my personal info?
(4) How can I repair the Mac now and prevent future recurrences? Is changing the IP address the way to do it? (But like I said before I had tried but could not change the IP because I did not have Internet access on the Mac. Is there an alternative method?)
(5) I wonder if a computer's IP address remains constant if you don't change it. The reason I am asking this question is because the aforesaid window message on the Macbook--not sure about the iMac--shows a different IP address--a few numerical digits were changed--almost every time it pops up following every failure trial of mine to access the Internet. Was the Macbook trying to change the IP for me or was there some thing not right?Re: Another device on the network is using your computer's IP address.
This message/problem was occuring intermittently for me in a household with two MacBooks accessing one Airport extreme. Rebooting the modem and router would only temporarily fix the issue for me, so I spoke with a friend who works for Apple and it seems that the Airport Extreme settings were at the root of our particular issue.
The router(Airport Extreme) recieves only one IP address from the modem and in order to allow it to share the IP address with two computers at once, the solution in my case was through:
Applications>Utilities>Airport Utility>Manual Setup>Internet
under Internet Connection- Select "share a public IP address"
under NAT, check the box for "enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol"
(this will allow the sharing of one public IP address with multiple devices)
if this is a new setting, then click "Update" and the Airport Extreme should reboot itself with new settings applied.
When all else is working properly, this is a satisfactory solution in my case. -
I have an Airport Extreme as my router and am using time capsule to extend the network in my new house. My ISP is only providing me 4-5 ip addresses and wants me to set up my router to issue out new ip addresses for all my devices. How do I fix this?Help.
They said I need to change my settings to NAT settings. I haven't been able to figure out or find anything. I have also spoken to Apple Support on the phone for hours without being able to figure out how to do this ( i don't think he knew much either lol.) Please help me because I've got about 15-20 devices in my house that require to be connected to the internet and this is just making things ridiculously slow and painful for me.
Thanks! It is on DHCP & NAT under router mode yet my isp is still the one issuing ip addresses to my devices instead of the router issuing them
