CRS installation
My Cluster Ready Services 10.1 (CRS) installation ran into some problem.
Following are the pre-installation and installation steps which i followed.
1. The system setup involved 2 identical nodes with Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 OS.
2. 2 static Public IP's for the 2 nodes
3. 2 private IP's which were created using network connections option and can be pinged.(1st Node Private IP 10.10.10.2 2nd Node Private IP 10.10.10.3)
4. Entry of the private IP's can also be found in the host file.
5. Both the nodes are connected to a external SCSI hard disk. The Skuzzy hard disk is not formated. Before installing CRS logical partitions where made on the Skuzzy hard disk for OCR,Voting disk and ASM.
6. While installing CRS on one of the nodes in the Network Usage Page one interface was selected as Private and the other as public.
7. The Do not format any logical drives was selected.
8. Finally the Logical partitions made on the SCSI hard disk were assigned to the OCR and voting disk.
After that the installation went without any problems till it reached 98%.The installation was stuck on 98% for almost 30 minutes.Sensing problem i opened the installation log file and scrolled down to the last few entries which said that the files could not be written on the node as it is accessed by some other program. So i had to abort the installation.
Could anyone tell me if i have skipped some steps or need to add any step to make my CRS installation a success.
Thanking you in Anticipation,
Regards,
Salil

Hi,
for my practice i am trying to install oracle 10gR2 on RHEL5-64bit OS in my laptop.
during my crs installation i have struckup with the below error while i am executing root.sh in node1.

As per metalink i have find that this problem is fixed with Patch:4679769
# Patch Installation Instructions:

3. Run the root.sh script and proceed with the installation.
**My question is still i am not install Database ..only i ma trying to install crs but in this readme .txt we need to replace the clsfmt.bin file in ORACLE_HOME/bin.**
**but i have not bin directory under in ORACLE_HOME.please clear my doupt to apply this patch...**
Regards,
MugunthAlso you clusterware installation installs to an ORACLE_HOME.
Oracle does only make a differentiation, if it has to be clear, that you got a clusterware home and a database home.
Normally if a patch is referring to $ORACLE_HOME (and the patch can be used for clusterware & database), it just means the installation directory of the oracle software installed.

Hello,
the installation of Oracle CRS is apparently successful, but the configuration assistants fail.

OracleCSService is hanging. Therefore OracleEMVService and OracleCRService couldn't start.
No errors in the local Oracle log-file.
This error occurs with repeated attempts (both under Windows 2000 and under Windows server 2003).
Environment:
Two Dell-PCs with in each case two 100 MBit/s Ethernet-LAN cards which one is connected public network, other is connected internal network (crossover cable).
OS is installed clean, not contain previous oracle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Volkertry this:
" If OracleCMService9i or the OracleService<SID> fails to start check that the interconnect is using a hub or switch of some type. In many cases, use of a crossover cable can lead to hangs because when there is loss of electrical connectivity to a NIC, it is sometimes disabled on systems running Windows NT/2000. This can also lead to an increase in time that it takes to initialize the card on a reboot. This depends on the HW platform, but in general, Oracle recommends always using a switch or hub for the interconnect, so that some type of connectivity is maintained with the Private NIC. Note: You may also be able to avoid this by disabling Media Sense in Registry, but a switch is preferred. See MS Article#Q239924 for details on disabling media sense.: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q239924 This applies to all Oracle versions." -

CRS Installation ! ! Help
Hi !
Greetings ! ! !
We have planned Oracle10g RAC using ASM on SAN Storage usix AIX 5.3 . i have defined the following for it :
1) Defined one public IP , Interconnect IP and VIP for each of the node (there are 2 nodes)
2) created ocr and voting disks on raw paritions
3) created oracle id and required groups. Also enabled passwordless ssh and rsh between the nodes
4) Now when i the crs installation, the setup comes to "Specify Cluster Configuration" Page
Here, as i understand , i need the entries for all my nodes which are participating in my cluster. but, i do not get any entries wat so ever. During my earlier installations, i used to get these entries.
Now i am wondering whether i have missed any file where in i need to put in some enties...
Any Help Would be apprecitated
Thanks
gopi
Oracle RAC DBA
IndiaHi,
since I have seen this issue a couple of times without having a general solution, please, let us know whether or not you plan to use HACMP.
IF you want to use HACMP under Oracle Clusterware, please, let us know the exact version.
IF you want to use the Oracle only stack, I suspect that the machine you are working one was once configured using HACMP and this installation is still there or has not been removed entirely. In either case, it might interfere with the Clusterware installation.
Please, check with your system admin and let us know. Thanks. -

What could be the reson for this failure?Hi,
I have configured NFS and started installing CRS. At the end of installation, I ran the script /d01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/root.sh from the Node1. It was successful.
But while running the /d01/crs/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/root.sh from the Node 2 from root user, it is hanging after displaying the message "Startup will be queued to init within 90 seconds."

adriano.baYour 4MEM error code is indeed reporting to you that some of your RAM is not working properly (MEM = memory, i.e. RAM).
The fix for this (replacing the RAM) is normally covered under warranty for a computer as new as yours is. To get the free warranty repair I believe that you do need to bring your computer to an Apple-certified repair center, however. If you order the RAM and do it yourself, you will need to pay for the RAM and also go through the trouble of opening your computer to access the RAM, which is not that hard to do for some people, others prefer to have a technician do that.
I'd suggest that you have Apple do the RAM fix, if only so that the replacement RAM is covered as well going forward ... -
10g CRS installation doesnt pickup Private interface
Hi All,
We upgraded a 10g CRS to 11g CRS few months back and due to multiple reasons we had to go back to 10g CRS.
Unfortunately, we dont have the 10g CRS filesystem and any of the backups since it was done few month back.
We cleaned up the 11g CRS on all nodes with below steps
Case 2: "root.sh" already ran, then follow the step below - please keep in mind that you will need wait till each step finishes successfully before move to next one:
Step 1: As root, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl -verbose -deconfig -force" on all node, except the last one.
Step 2: As root, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/crs/install/rootcrs.pl -verbose -deconfig -force -lastnode" on last node. This command will zero out OCR and VD disk also.
Step 3: As grid user, run "/ora_grid/product/v11.2.0.2/grid/deinstall/deinstall" on any node.
Rebooted the servers and started the installation.
During the "Sopecify Network INterface Usage" screen, it is displaying only the public interface name ( en0 ) and not the private. Can you please advise what could be the reason behind this.
Thanks & Regards,
Rakesh10g CRS is rather old now. I assume you're talking about 10.2.0.1? I vaguely recollect problems like that with 10.2.0.1 CRS. There were many: problems with multhipath, problems with initializing disks on RH 5.x. One of the possible problems is if your public interface is in the private range (192.168.x.x). Are both interfaces plumbed? What is the output of /sbin/ifconfig -a?
Other than that, I recommend installing 10G database on top of 11.2.0.3 grid. It is supported, you can install 11.2.0.3 CRS and then install 10G database to use that CRS. Do you need just 10G database or does everything need to be 10g? 10.2.0.1 is an ancient version, there are many problems with RH 5.x. There is no need to use 10G CRS, 11G will support 10.2. databases without a problem. -
CRS installation: Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10
Hello,
I am trying to install Oracle RAC in 10GR2 to simulate a migration from 1024 to 11GR2. I am using VMWARE with two Linux CentOS 64b 6.2 and shared disks as raw devices. I got "Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10" when running root.sh, on both nodes. The ocrcheck is fine, but I have two different IDs... which is not good and I do not understand why:
- I have shared raw devices
- the devices are the same, I checked this twice
Can anyoane help?
I thank you all in advance.Hello,
The exact error message is the one in my subject description: Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10
This occurs when runing root.sh after the installation is successfull and there is no way to continue, the assistants are failing, which is logic, as the root.sh attempt to configure and run the CRS agents are not done successfully. The OCR ar ok with the same ID on both nodes, the minor in major values for the raw devices are and the firewall is disabled on both nodes. I checked the rights, they are also ok. The exact and complete return of the root.sh script is the following:

any idea where should I look? You can start looking at the following files to check if there are any errors reported :
a) The OS Messages file ( /var/adm/messages )
b) Any files with names like crsctl* under the /tmp directory
c) The client trace files under $ORA_CRS_HOME/log/<hostname>/client/*
d) The crsd and the cssd logs under $ORA_CRS_HOME/log/<hostname>/[crsd/cssd]/*
Also what does a ps -ef | grep d.bin indicate.

I installed the CRS clusterware (11.1.0.6) on RHEL, but I noticed the $ORA_CRS_HOME/install/root111.sh script is missing from the installation. This script is used when upgrading to 11.1.0.7. Any reason why it's missing?
Thanks,

We are on SUN Solaris 10 u8 and i want to install Oracle Rac 10g on 2 Nodes
Problems with Installung CRS 10g
All Prechecks with cluvfy passed succesfull cluvfy stage -pre crsinst -n node1,node2 -verbose
When i start the installation of crs the 'SPECIFY CLUSTER CONFIGURATION' Page of OUI doesn't show any Cluster Node and i can't add one.
SO i decided to try the use Cluster Configuration File to get a chance to tell the Installation my nodes and edit them. Unfortunately i didn't find any example or the location of an example file. At the root of my installation path - as 'HELP' tells me there isn't one.
ANy idea why no nodes aren't (even that one i'm logged on isn't) to be seen or how i can tell the installation my nodes
Thanks
Joachimhi
try to begin installation from second node.
regards

CRS Installation Success...So what's Next.
I have successfully installed CRS on Solaris 64-bit. So what next.
I have downloaded database software and when trying to install, OUI was refering to OraCrs10g_home1 for database installation, which is my CRS_HOME. Do i need to change the Name to ORA10g_Home1 manually ?
Thanks
-PrasadI see that i have 2 services on lsnr on each node. One os OFFLINE and the other is online.

Hello
I'm trying to install CRS (ATG 10.1.2) in according to this guideline: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E36434_01/CRS.10-1-2/ATGCRSInstall/html/s0206creatingtheendecaapplication01.html
When I'm trying to initialize Endeca app (step 7 in "Creating the Endeca Application") I'm getting this (a part of CIM log) :

Are you sure Platform Services is running in your environment? I see the following error in your log:

This is an Endeca service that is typically running on port 8888. You should be able to check the Services control panel in Windows or top/ps/netstat in Linux to confirm.
