  • Need Help finding Memory for Mac Pro

    Hello,
I need to buy some memory for some of our computers and want to make sure I get the right ones. While searching I have yet to find one that actually says it is specifically compatible with our computers.
    Here are the computer specs:
      Model Name:          Mac Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacPro1,1
      Processor Name:          Dual-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed:          2.66 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          2
      Total Number Of Cores:          4
L2 Cache (per processor):          4 MB
      Memory:          1 GB
      Bus Speed:          1.33 GHz
      Boot ROM Version:          MP11.005C.B08
      SMC Version (system):          1.7f10
      Serial Number (system):          G8724313UQ2
      Hardware UUID:          00000000-0000-1000-8000-0017F2046444
I know they need to be installed in pairs so I'm looking for either a 2GB Upgrade (2x1GB) or 1GB Upgrade (2x512MB).
    Thank you in advance,
    Randy

Amazon has excellent top tier likely better $40 2x2GB which I and others have been buying up.

  • Can i use pc laptop monitor for mac mini?

I am going to be out of the country for a year - maybe in Africa, most likely in area not well served by technology.  I have to use PC for work so have a think pad.  I also have an ipad and a mac mini.  I really want to take my mac mini (mm) - it bridges a gap between these two.  It's small enough and I can use my bluetooth keyboard for both ipad and mm.  I can only take a suitcase plus backpack...so I am really not gonna haul a monitor.  Is there a way to use PC laptop as display for mm?  Weird, I know but I can only take so much...
thanks for any help you can give.  cheers

do you think one of these new USB powered mobile monitors (LED/LCD) might work - toshiba and lenovo both have them.  they say they are compatible with any windows computer - but why not mac?

  • Memory for mac g5

hi, i installed more ram - memory to my g5 powermac but the computer doesn't seem to recognize the change in memory. what can i do in order the memory to show up? (it still shows up the old ammount of memory)
    thanks

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
    Try a PRAM/NVRAM reset.
    -Shut down the computer.
-Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    -Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
-Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    -Release the keys.

Not sure which is for your model, but if the above doesn't work, try a SMU/PMU reset:

  • Crucial Memory for Nehalem Mac Pros?

Taking delivery of new Mac Pro tomorrow (dual 2.66MHz i7s) and need to add more memory. I've always had good luck with memory from Crucial. Anyone upgrade their memory for these machines yet? If so, from where? My new machine is coming with 6GB, but does it come in 1GB or 2GB sticks? ie. will I need to throw away the stock RAM? On second thought maybe it's better to do that anyway so that all the memory matches...
    Any thoughts?

Take a look at this review: http://barefeats.com/nehal04.html
There is an open debate whether 3 sticks of RAM are better than 4 in these new machines. Something about groups of 3 allow for triple speed access, and groups of 4 reduce it to double speed access. I am sure I butchered that explanation. Check out the link from Barefeats. They explain it better.

  • What kind of memory for my early 2008 macbook pro

    Hi again,
I need an advice. Since I do not want to get a memory that would not be recognized by my macbook (again) I would like to ask you what memory do you recommend...
    Corsair Value select
    VS2GSDS667D2 PC2-5300 2GB 5-5-5-15 200pin SODIMM
    http://www.corsair.com/products/valueselect/default.aspx
    or
    Corsair Value select
    VS4GSDSKIT667D2 PC2-5300 4GB Kit 5-5-5-15 200pin SODIMM
(this is probably absolutely the same as above, but in a kit)
    or
    APACER Notebook Memory - DDRAM2 SODIMM PC5300@667MHz, 2GB
    http://usa.apacer.com/us/products/NotebookMemory_DDR2-667_SO-DIMMfeatures.htm
Btw, sorry if it is a stupid question, but what is the difference between Corsair memory above and Corsair memory for MAC? http://www.corsair.com/products/mac/default.aspx#notebook
    Thanks!!

Not sure about the difference, but I upgraded my 17" MacBook Pro using the Corsair 4GB kit (2 x 2GB). No problems since.
    These are 667MHz (PC2-5300-CL4) Low Latency 4-4-4-12 SODIMMs (200-pin)
I imagine the 5-5-5-15 latency sodimm you mention are the latest version

  • HT5475 Single memory on Mac Mini late 2012

Can I only use a single memory for Mac Mini late 2012. Example only a single 8GB memory and the other slot empty. Thanks.

Yes, only one stick can be used. You can also have different capacities in each slot.
You will only see a very small decrease in speed

  • What kind of memory for my Macbook Pro Laptop

    Hello:
I am thinking of getting more memory for my laptop.
I am unsure on what brand to buy, so I appreciate any input you might have. I have 2 memory slots that have 2gb each. How much can I put in each slot? 4gb, 8gb?
What kind of prices for the memory?
Here are the specs on my laptop.
    MacBook Pro
    13-inch, Early 2011
Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
    Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
    Thank you!

You can put an 8GB module in each slot, giving you a total of 16GB. But that's the maximum.
Good sources of RAM for your model (which use 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMMs) are Crucial, OWC and Corsair. Other people may recommend other brands, but I would get one of the three (and I only include Corsair because that's what I'm using).
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Does Apple sell memory for Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (21.5-inch - DDR3) Late 2009 anymore?

I have a 21.5-inch, late 2009 iMac (Apple iMac 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo [21.5-inch - DDR3]) and I need more memory for it. Currently, I have the standard 4GB memory for it (2X2). I wanted to know if Apple makes memory for my model iMac anymore. Thanks!

Buy your ram from either Crucial http://www.crucial.com or OWC http://eshop.macsales.com.
Apple probably still sells ram for your iMac but you'll pay twice the prince and get less for it.

  • Ddr3 1600mhz memory

I want to purchase the corsair vengeance laptop memory 2x4gb
    But its a ddr3 1600mhz
I would like to know if it would work on the macbook pro i7??
Cause every post i read says that it supports ddr3 1333mhz
    So any sugestions.

It may work, it may not work.  If it works, it may not perform as Apple has designed the MBP.  If you want to add RAM without risking unnecessary problems, stick to the specifications in  your user manual.
Also buy from trusted vendors such as OWC or Crucial.
    Ciao.

  • Is this real DDR3-1600Mhz Memory?

I was wondering if this is real DDR3-1600Mhz Memory?
    http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Geheugen_DDR3-1600/Corsair/4GB_DDR3-1600_Kit/-1078683/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Geheugen&l2=DDR3&l3=DDR3-1600
Its a dutch site, but if you click 'meer details' you should see all the spec's.
    In short:
    Size 4096MB
    Timings 9-9-9-24
    Voltage 1.5
I was wondering since it was only 75 euro's, don't know if that much for real ddr3 1600 ram or not. I'm checking at more RAM sticks but are all 1.5V ddr3-1600Mhz ram real ddr3 1600Mhz ram or are they like triple the amount of money?

It looks to me that the linked modules in your post are engineered for i7 X58 systems (TW3X4G1600C9D). The X48C manual shows 1.5v for DDR3 in dual channel as ok for the board, but specific requirements as to population of the modules is emphasized in pages 2-7 & 2-8. They are also most likely 'rated' 1600 by controlled laboratory testing, & only 1333 chipped.

That memory specification is correct, but the maximum memory configuration for your iMac is 2 GB.
