CRVS2010 Beta - Cannot export report to PDF with unicode characters

My report has some unicode data (Chinese), it can be previewed properly in the windows form report viewer. However, if I export the report document to PDF file, the unicode characters in exported file are all displayed as a square.
In the version of Crystal Report 2008 R2, it can export the Chinese characters to PDF when I select a Chinese font in report. But VS2010 beta cannot export the Chinese characters even a Chinese font is selected.

Using non-Chinese font with Unicode characters (Chinese) the issue is reproducible when using Arial font in Unicode characters field. After changing the Unicode character to Simsun (A Chinese font named 宋体 in report), the problem is solved in Cortez and CR both.

I trid the SP, but doesn't work. I can send the font to you, it is only 50K. If you would like to try I can send it to you, but i am not sure how i can upload the font file. I guess any none Windows standard font will have same issue, i guess.
For now, i am going to give up and use image file instead.

Bad files when exporting reports to PDF with CR4E

Hello,Have any of you successfully used CR4E to create a report and report viewer that produces a valid PDF export? Error when export report to PDF with a none standard Windows font

Hi,
I got this error when trying to export PDF under VS2008 with an special true type font in the code behind. The error says:
...temp_9550ab94-02fc-4362-b259-cc6de8d6c04b {32E546F5-C6A3-44FC-B8EF-D5E37A1118FA}.rpt:\nOperation not yet implemented.
In the crystal reort under VS2008, I use a special font which is true type and it is already installed in the system, I can see the font in many other software like Word, Notepad, etc... without any problem.
Is anyone know how to fix it? please help.

Export reports as pdf with a dynamic name

I am fairly new at APEX and this sums my situation and questions.
I created a small app that shows invoice information. I created a 'report query' and a 'rtf query layout' and was able to create a export button to save it as pdf.
2 questions arise:
- Can I assign the pdf name dynamically based on a row value (in my case the invoice number), and if possible , how do I go about to do that?
- can I create a "batch" to spawn these pdf files ? How would i do that?

CRVS2010 beta - Cannot add report parameters through code

I've been trying to follow random examples from these forums of people adding a parameter to their report. My situation is as follows:
I have a report that is populated from values selected from a SQL stored procedure. In a simple test program, I'm able to display the report fine, except that when I run the app, it always asks me for the input parameter for the stored procedure. I need to set this "programmatically", and I can't seem to get it to work. Here is what I have:

Hello - I'm having the same problem.
I had a crystal report that was working fine in VS2008. I've now got the latest VS2010 version and started using VS2010 to edit the crystal reports.
As soon as click save in VS2010 in my report, I get prompted to upgrade the report to the new file format.
From now on, whenever I run the report the user gets prompted for parameter values even though they are set in the code.
I set them using
crReportDocument.SetParameterValue("MyParameter", "value");
In the popup to edit a parameter, it says 'Show on (Viewer) Panel' which is set to 'Do not show', and 'Prompt With Description Only' is 'False'.
Is there something else I'm missing here? I need to effectively turn off offering the user to replace the parameter values.

give it time to boot. the time depends on yr memory size n data. soon a process bar will appear indicating the boot process. if still this doesnt work. try formating the phone. but this ways u lose all data on the phone (unless u backed it). relax! the data on the memory card is safe.

Reproducing the Issue
Using the Crystal Reports for Eclipse runtime version 1.x attempt to export a report to PDF format that has the "Repeat Group Header on Each Page" option enabled.
Note: This does not occur if this option is enabled in a subreport.
Cause
When the "Repeat Group Header on Each Page" is enabled for a group in a main report the Crystal Reports for Eclipse 1.x runtime is unable to correclty format the PDF document which results in an exception.
Resolution
Updating the application to use Crystal Reports for Eclipse version 2.x runtime will resolve the issue.
The most recent updates to the Crystal Reports for Eclipse runtime can be freely downloaded from the SAP SDN Website.

Textedit.app cannot export metadata to PDF

Hello,
I've create RTF document in TextEdit.app (OS X 10.8.3), fill my own Properties of this file (File->Show Properties) and export to PDF via File->Export as PDF…
RTF file contain Properties: Author, Organisation, Copyright, Title, Subject, Keywords, comment.
I presumed RTF properties are similar as PDF metadata, so it will be exported to PDF - but unfortunatelly not!
No metadata (except Title [filename] and Author) was exported.
It is look like as a bug in TextEdit.app :-(
Are there any posibilities to export RTF properties to PDF metadata without expensive Acrobat?

Unable to export reports to PDF in BI portal.

I am facing problem when trying to export reports to PDF in BI portal. It gives the error message "Error while generating the PDF".
ADS BI export library is enabled in R/3 as suggested in SNOTE 1836587 and 944221.

Hi Gaurav,
Check if the URL in the ConfigPort_Document SOA destination is correct. Also, check if the os_libs directory under the /usr/sap/SID/JXX/j2ee directory. If it does, then stop the SAP system, rename the os_libs directory, and restart the system.
Try generating a PDF report.

Exporting Report to PDF in Landscape

Hello All,
After my Hyperion report finished, I exported the result into PDF. Due to having too many rows, HTML and Excel are not viable options. After the export finished writing to a PDF file, I checked the report and realized that unless I find a way to save the result in a Landscape mode, each page of the report will be broken into two pages. Does anyone know how to export reports in PDF format in a Landscape mode?

Thank you for your help. I was able to use the information in your response and then save the PDF report in a Landscape format. However, this still prints each row on two pages. Next, I will try your other suggestion to see if using 'Scale To Fit' would solve this problem.

Can not copy text from pdf with unicode font embedded.

Hello,
I have a pdf with unicode font embedded in it. The pdf has no restrictions. When i try to copy some text text fro m pdf and then paste itin word, the text is not the same which i copied from the pdf. it changes.
I have tried multiple softwares which converts pdf to word or pdf to excel. but none can do my job. what should be the problem? Kindly guide me.

Does photoshop cs5 sdk support file names with unicode characters?

Hi,
For the export module, does the windows sdk have support for filenames with unicode characters?
The ExportRecord struct in PIExport.h has an attribute filename declared as char array.
So I have a doubt whether filenames with unicode characters will be supported for export module.

SPPlatformFileSpecificationW is not available in ReadImageDocumentDesc.
It has SPPlatformFileSpecification_t which is coming as null for export module.

Filenames with unicode characters

Hello, I have a question regarding filenames with unicode characters on an arabic windows xp.
I have a string, which the user entered and want to create a file with this string as filename. So my question:
Which unicode characters are allowed in a filename? I know, that on a german windows " / \ * ? < > : * are not allowed from the ASCII set, but which unicode chars are allowed? Is this language dependend on windows? Maybe there exists a method, which checks a string for this allowed characters.

AFAIK the illegal characters are always the same (you listed them already) and as long as the filesystem supports it (read: you use NTFS and not FAT) you may use any other unicode character.
You might have troubles displaying those characters 'though if you don't happen to have the correct fonts installed, but that would only be a cosmetic issue.
