Crw32.exe encountered a problem

I have a user that just received a new laptop with Crystal Developer 10 installed on it. The user is receiving an error when saving a report after it has been ran. If it is not run she does not get the error.
Error: crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you click for more info, you get:
crw32.exe Error signature AppName: crw32.exe, AppVer: 10.0.0.533 ModName: ntdll.dll. Mod Ver: 5.1.2600.5755 Offset: 0000100b
I have the same exe and dll versions on my PC and have not had any issues. She has received 3 new laptops and continues to have issues.
We would like her to stay on the same version as all of the other crystal report writters (since they share reports).
I have read through 30 threads on this site, and tried a couple of things without being able to get rid of the error.
Any help you can provide would be great. Thanks!

Hi Jennifer,
I agree with you on not getting the user upgraded.
There normally isn't a issue with saving a report.  If you have a look in the WIndows Event Log see what error was logged by the crash.  That usually helps point you in the right direction.
I'd eliminate any problems with printer or databases.
Is she trying to save locally or to the network?
I would assume she has no problems saving other documents like Text files or Word to the same folders?
Instead of crashing permission problems would normally come up with an error.
Good luck,
Brian

Does anyone have any information on fixing this error. It is killing me.
    The situation is:
I am running windows xp pro sp2 on a AMD 64bit box. It is 32bit windows. It has 1GB of RAM and 40 GB of hd.
the release I am using is Oracle 10.2.01 db and client installs.
When I get to the client install and install it ... then restart the computer I get the

    error.
I have attempted to manually install this thing and automatically start this thing with no luck. The oracle client and db are install to the same locations on my "C:\oracle\product\10.2.0" directory one id db_1 and the other client_1.
What is the deal with this and is there a fix to this what is wrong?
Anyhelp will be greatly appreciated. Thanks..

The file name is CTXHX so I am a little concerned that you posted this in quotes:
"cxthx.exe encountered a problem and needed to close." Is this a misspelling by Oracle or did you type this by hand?
In any case please use google ... there are other threads ... and if that does not help open an SR.

  • Saposcol.exe encountered a problem and needed to close.

Some days ago I successfully installed trial version 7.02 on a virtual Windows XP: Host Windows 7 professional 64 bit.
Immediately after installation I created SAPLOGON, started the system using SAPMMC and logged on as BCUSER in client 001. I did some work and everthing was fine.
Two days later there is an error message when XP mode has started:

If I try to start the system using SAPMMC it turns to green but shortly after that it is yellow.

  • Odbcad32.exe encountered a problem

I've installed the 10.2.0.2 ODBC driver - ORA10202.exe - but when I create try to create a System DSN, I choose 'Oracle in Home1' but get an error "odbcad32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."
The Universal Installer said it was successfully installed. I had previously installed ODAC1020221.exe and can connect to Oracle database from SQL developer no problem. I'm on XP SP2 which says I've got MDAC2.8 SP1 installed.
Any ideas as to the problem, and how to fix it ?

    Never mind, I sorted it.
Installing the ODBC driver appears to default to creating a new Oracle home - one which doesn't work. Uninstall the driver and remove that home, then re-install the driver and select the existing Oracle home created by the ODAC installation and then ODBC seems to work.

  • Oracle Intelligent Agent Exe encountered a problem and needed to close

Whenever the server is rebooted I get the error "Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable encountered a problem and needed to close". The agent won't start, and I found a work around that included deleting files from the network/agent and admin folders, then restarting the agent. This works, however the next time the server reboots I have to go through all of this again. Any ideas why this keeps occurring?
Also, what does this agent do? I've read through some documentation and can't quite tell if I actually need it started. Do you use this agent to only remotely monitor/administer through OEM? I'm really confused and could use some insight. All my process appear to be working fine.

Because of the error message I guess you are on Windows and database version is lower than 10g (by the way it's always a good idea to tell the environment, because Oracle runs on different platforms in different versions).
... 'encountered a problem and needed to close' is generic Windows error message with millions of possible reasons. So it's not possible to find remotely a solution. You are right, Intelligent Agent is a counterpart of OEM, but outside production environments rarely needed. I recommend you change the service properties from 'automatic' to 'manual' in control panel. So it does not start at reboot time.

  • CRW32.EXE has encountered a problem (Crystal 2008 v 12.2.5)

Receive an error message u201CCRW32.EXE encountered a problem and needs to close.u201D when attempting to join two databases via ODBC.  This occurs just prior to receiving the u2018Linksu2019 dialog after database selection.  Accessing DB2 database using XP via ODBC.
    Error Signature:
    AppName: Crw32.Exe     AppVer: 12.2.5.537     ModName: mfc80u.dll
    ModVer: 8.0.50727.4053     Offset: 005ac31
Will work if joining one ODBC database and an Excel 2003 spreadsheet.
    Thank you for your help.

I would check with DB2 and their ODBC driver to see if they support your platform and if any patches are available.
I assume when you installed you did so as a local PC administrator correct?
You could try doing a Repair Install, make sure your Anti-virus software is disabled also, disconnect yourself from your network before doing so first.
    Also, try this link:

Please can someone tell me why I keep getting this message every time I try to open anything related to java. Standard windows error ...Javaw has encountered a problem and needs to close etc...

The sdk also does not appear anywhere in the start menu to open it, yet when I go to add remove programs, it certainly seems to be on my system....What gives.....what can I do to solve this.

  • CrystalReports 2008 crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    Hi Guys,
I just installed Crystal Reports 2008 and tried to use it, but every time I try to expand Create New Connection tree, in order to add some data to my report, program crashes and I receive message:

Thus anyone have a solution to this problem?

    Well,
Each time Crystal Reports crashes I see three errors:

  • Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

approximately every 1 and 1/2 to two months I have to uninstall Crystal Reports XI and re-load release 2.  The program works fine then starts acting funny (cursor will not change when making text box longer/shorter, Can only make sections larger/shorter by putting the cursor over to the far left side of the report, etc)  When this starts happening, within one day I receive the error
"crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I was able to see a thread in the Business Objects forum indicating there was a service pack to fix the problem.  Each time I search for service packs to install nothing comes up.  Does anyone know what this service pack is and where I might be able to find it.
    Thanks Much
    Donna

    Hi Jon
Have you checked with DEP option?
Right Click on My Computer ->Click on Properties->Click on Advance Tab-> Click on  on Settings in Performance Pane-?Click on Data Execution Prevention Tab ->Click on Turn On DEP option ->Click on Add button and browse for crw32.exe file.
What is difference between mentioned two machine(Configuration)?
Are you using dual monitor with Crystal Report?
Have you checked with event viewer? It gives the detail description of error.
Below are the steps for event viewer:
Click on Start ->Run -type in eventvwr.
    Hope it will help you.
    Regards

  • Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, pls help

When I try to use a crystal report version 10.0 to querry from two data source at same time, I got following error:
Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience .
I have a 8.5 version crystal report and it works just fine.
    The two data source are:
MS access2003 DB and Sage Mas90 DB.
I have tried on server 2003 and window XP. none of them works.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Jonathan

Reporting off 2 datasources should work in CR10.
    I would suggest the following;
    1) Check the version of CR10 and apply SP5 if necessary
    2) Try using different connection methods, if you are using a native connection try odbc for example
Possible workarounds woulr be to use a main report > subreport
    or
In Access create a linked table to Mas90

Restarted the Win7 64 which was working and now I get the same error message too

  • Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close while running report

Ever since I installed HEAT 9, Crystal Reports 11 crashes periodically.  I get the message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."  This message usually appears after I run a report, enter my DB credentials, and enter parameters.
I also have Report Viewer installed as a part of another application called Wasp.  I can open reports using the report viewer but when I close them the entire Wasp program crashes every time.
Both of these problems only happen with HEAT 9 installed.  I do not have this problem with HEAT 8.4 installed.

I suggest you contact the makers of HEAT and ask them if they support your configuration. It may be they do not support multiple versions of CR installed. It may also be caused by the order you have installed the various programs. Try using the repair feature for each program in various orders to see if that resolves the problem.
    Thank you
    Don
