/CRY so hard for me to even get one

So why did Apple make them so difficult to get in the first place? I mean, I know they sold a ton of them but the Apple store is an hour away and the lines are still about three hours long. The AT&T stores don't have any and they are NOW saying if I were to come in and order that it would be 10 to 20 days which is ridiculous.
So I will be checking the stock in one hour on the site and hoping they get the 16GB black ones in tomorrow and I'm taking a half day off to get one. I don't know what's more ridiculous; the wait or me for doing this.

Even Apple didn't expect the response they got to the rollout.
APple Stores will always be replenished before ATT stores. Currently, ATT stores are basically saying "Sometime in August"
Doing the Direct Fulfllment method is indeed the best -- since all iPHone that come in will first go to the Direct Fulfillment customers in order, before any are released to the public. It might take you 10-20 days, but it might take other pure ATT customers 20 days or longer.
Apple stores, though, will always get the largest shipments and the most immediate replenishment.

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Griffin Reveal case for iPhone 4 - anybody get one of these?

Anybody get one of these cases for your iPhone? How is it? I would like a clear case to show off the back and the Reveal is one that does this. Anybody have thoughts on this, how is it with reception?

If the case is tight enough to cause a scratch, don't put a shield on it first! The shield will just peel away at the edges. Instead, be SURE that both the back of the phone AND the inside of the case are free of any dust before putting the phone in the case! I learned this lesson long ago with my first iPod, a first generation Nano. Ended up with a big fat scratch down that beautiful chrome back because of some little piece of dust or granule of something. Now when I put a case on any piece of electronics, I get a microfiber cloth and wipe off the entire device and the case. That is the only way to ensure that the case doesn't cause a scratch!
On another note, has anyone who has this case dropped their phone? I was going to wait for Incase to come out with cases but they are taking too long! I'm thinking of going clear because of how cool this phone looks, but I don't want a case that will pop off or crack if dropped. While I am very careful with my phone, I am clumsy!

  • TS1559 I must say I am very dissapointed with some of apples ethics. I have spent thousands of dollars on iphones and ipods not to mention hundreds in the itunes store, I now have a iphone for I cant even get wifi or bluetooth on?

I have tried every suggestion availiable. I have no service to my iphone 4 and would just like to use it as an ipod. I cannot connect to wifi no matter what I do, infact i can't even turn on wifi because it is will not move, like it is frozen or something. I am really choked that wifi and bluetooth are not availiable to me. I also dont not understand the reasoning in charging me 35 dollars to talk to someone about a products apple sold and provided me with. I have spent thousands of dollars on apple products over the last few years for kids, myself, and family, not to mention I have spent thousands in the Itunes store for these products that are of no use to me. It absolutely disgusts me! I also bought an i pod touch for my stepson four or five years ago. He came to me the other day and asked me if he could use one of my Ipods. I asked him where his was? He told me it never worked right from day one and kids being kids, he never told me. So I plugged it in charged it up and all it does is is make static when it's turned on. You cant even listen to music on it. with head phones or otherwise.

    Do you have a question?

  • QuickLook: No preview for JPG, not even Get-Info preview

Just upgraded from Tiger 10.4.11 to Leopard 10.5.8.... QL works really nice, but now my JPG files wont show a preview, even when performing a regular Get-Info... I'm also using SneekPreview Pro to enhance QL, but the other one, SneakPeekPhoto I had to uninstall, 'cause it was causing my Finder to quit unexpectedly... Any solution here?
    Thanks...

Must be something weird with those jpg's.  I just created a little jpg and set the finder view options of the enclosing folder to "Show Icon Preview" and that worked.  I did a Get Info on the file and and looked in the Preview section (after clicking the disclosure triangle) and that also worked.  I set the view options of the enclosing folder to column view and click the jpg and it shows the picture in the next column.  Lastly I right clicked on the jpg and in the finder contextual selected Quick Look and that worked too.

  • GDM requires password for a user even if one isn't set

Okay, GDM (more likely Pam) is pissing me off. HOW oh how do I get it to allow users to login without a password?
I can login to a console as "guest" without a password, so I know one's not set, but GDM prompts me for a password everytime.
How do I get GDM to NOT require a password???

I finally found a solution on the ubuntu forums: looks like you can do this:
    /etc/pam.d/gdm
    #%PAM-1.0
    auth requisite pam_nologin.so
    auth required pam_env.so
    auth sufficient pam_listfile.so item=user sense=allow file=/etc/gdm/nopassusers.txt onerr=fail
    auth required pam_unix.so
    account required pam_unix.so
    session required pam_limits.so
    session required pam_unix.so
    password required pam_unix.so
and then put your users (1 per line) in the specified file (/etc/gdm/nopassusers.txt).

  • No CS5 updater for Mavericks but CS6 gets one

Another glaring example of Adobe coldly abandoning its Fireworks users. There's an updater for CS6 for the new Mavericks OS, but no updated for CS5.
Adobe keeps making me dislike it more. Wish Macromedia had never sold Fireworks. At least they had some enthusiasm about the app.
And I'm not about to be sucked into the pay-in-perpetuity scheme called Cloud, in which they make whatever tweaks to the app that they feel like making whether I want 'em or not. At least in sticking to CS5 I have an app that I know, without unrequested, un-cancellable "improvement" changes.
Guess I'll just have to live with the new, erroneous "Could not save this file" prompts in CS5 and renew my Adobe disgust each time the prompt rears its meaningless little window.

    Brad Messer wrote:
There is NO alternative to Fireworks.
You are correct: there is nothing out there that completely mimics Fireworks. Do realize that the slicing paradigm in Fireworks is somewhat outdated, though, and web workflows have evolved. FW never really kept up with those since Adobe took over development.

Get rid of the tracking cookies. They are used to profile and track your browsing history. While they are privacy invading, by calling them spyware, MacScan is being a little dramatic in trying to sell you its crap. And in the future, for whatever browser you use, don't allow third-party cookies.
To prevent tracking, get Ghostery. In addition to having Ghostery and forbidding third-party cookies, I clear out all cookies from one browsing session to another. If you always do that, you won't have any tracking cookies to worry about, so you won't need MacScan to find them for you. Btw, MacScan finds the tracking cookies in the first few minutes of scanning; if you want to use it for that, then that's all the time you need to run it for. But, as I said, you won't have any tracking cookies around if you just remove all cookies and don't allow third-party cookies. As soon as you visit a site that needs them, you'll just get new ones. No problem.

I can't deauthorise my daughter's last computer from iTunes because it has crashed. We have three computers in the house but I can't authorise my new MacbookPro for iTunes or homesharing because it says I have 5 computers authorised (I don't). I can't even get my music from the iTunes library on my old Macbook onto my new one, because it won't let me sync my iPhone 5 with my old Macbook, as I can't update the iTunes software. So I have a new MacbookPro and a new iPhone 5 and I can't get any of my music on either of them. I feel singularly depressed.

As you have more than 1 computer authorised then you should be able to log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

  • Macbook pro freezes for no reason even after installing 10.8 on a brand new hard drive

Macbook pro freezes for no reason even after installing 10.8 on a brand new hard drive.
Tried to reset pram, smc, nvram.
    Tried installing new RAM.
    Tried installing new hard drive.
You should know that my internal drive is installed in a cheap external case and plugged in a USB 2.0 port because i am waiting for a new hard drive cable.all
Yep all good things happened to me...i don't know if all these problems are linked, ahh and also my trackpad is behaving very erraticaly sometimes, it's like it is possessed by a ghost. My computer is not under warranty anymore so i'd like to avoid a trip to the Apple store but i'm close to doing just that.
    Any help appreciated...

It's diagnostic software. It's supposed to help you find problems. I don't think anyone is making any software yet that fixes hardware problems.
    That said, the two comments:

would lead me to think it's the logic board. On older MacBook Pro's both the USB I/O ports and the keyboard/trackpad are fed out of an integrated USB controller integrated into the South Bridge I/O controller. On newer models, the USB ports come out of an integrated North/South bridge controller and the keyboard/trackpad are handled by an SMC controller, which itself interfaces with the I/O controller. All of these items are on the logic board, and they're all unrepairable.
...unless of course the "internal drive [that] is installed in a cheap external case" is itself causing the problems. Another thing to try might be a different USB port, if you haven't done so already.
I didn't know the price for Scannerz went up. I could have sworn I only paid 30-some bucks for it. Maybe it was on sale at the time. I don't remember.
    In any case, good luck.

  • Should I necessarily use an external hard "for mac" to get a backup from my macbook?

I want to get a backup from my macbook pro using the time machine. Should I necessarily use an external hard "for mac" to get a backup from my macbook? Because I have an external hard, but its not for mac. Is there any way I can use this one?

You can use the external drive you want with your Mac. However, the "for Mac" external drives come prepared to connect them and start using them, and probably you will have to do some additional steps with your external drive.
First, you will have to format the external drive with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)", the only filesystem compatible with OS X. If you have got files on the external drive, you have to copy them to your Mac before erasing the drive. Then, follow these steps to format the external drive with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" > http://pondini.org/TM/5.html
Then, to use Time Machine, open System Preferences > Time Machine > Select Disk, and choose your external drive, so your Mac will start making backups to your external drive

Make sure you have cookies enabled and clear your cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.
You can also download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • I uninstalled iTunes from my laptop. Now when I click on the download button I get the message thank you for downloading itunes even though it has not been downloaded. Why is this happening?

My iTunes could not find either my iPhone or my iPad even though it was found by my laptop running on Windows 8.1. After some basic trouble shooting I followed all the steps to uninstall iTunes along with all its components. When I tried to once again download iTunes I was taken to the next window which said thankyou for downloading iTunes even though iTunes was neither downloaded nor installed on my laptop. How do I download and install iTunes on my laptop now?

When I tried to once again download iTunes I was taken to the next window which said thankyou for downloading iTunes even though iTunes was neither downloaded nor installed on my laptop.
Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
