Crystal 2011 and open edge

i use crystal 2011 sp 2 in win7, i use Progress OpenEdge, trying to view the report in the application, this does not open. any idea why?

Crystal Reports 2011 and ECC logon error

We have installed Crystal 2011 and the ECC integration kit to enable reporting out of ECC using Crystal. I understand the connection string concept, but I am having a problem getting Crystal to logon to my msg server using a logon group other than PUBLIC.
I have tried passing different supported logon groups during the logon, but the resulting error message indicates it is still trying to logon to the msg server using PUBLIC logon group which does not exist in our system.

Actually it has turned out to be an App-V thing. Several desktop clients including SAPGUI are deployed using App-V. Basically Crystal does not read or pay attention to the "virtual" ENV variables that locate the saplogon.ini file in the App-V environment. We are developing a work around to install Crystal using App-V and linked to the virtual env variables. fingers crossed.
BTW, thanks for the input. But this was being tried on my machine using a VMware guest. The GUI has been installed and operational for many months and my username in this ECC system has SAP_ALL as it's a sandbox that we are shaking this out on.
This was my first experience dealing with App-V.. Apparently desktop support is going the same virtual route as the Servers and CI's have gone.

Crystal 2011 RAS. Section Expert Paging tab properties does not correspond to EnableNewPageAfter, EnableNewPageBefore properties in section format

We have application where you can select fields, select groupings and properties (for example disable page grouping ) and create custom report.
It worked with crystal 9.
Now we are converting to Crystal 2011 and I have the following problem:
I create report dynamically and set group footer EnableNewPageAfter property to false in group footer section.
When report is created , I open it and see that New Page After property in section expert is unchecked.
When I run the report, I have page break after each group - which is wrong.
If I open report in Crystal, check New Page After Property , save, exit report, open report again, uncheck New Page After Property, save and exit,And than run the report again,
My report behaves correctly:does not break after each group.
If I open report in Crystal, check New Page After Property , save, exit report and then load this report in code and look at EnableNewPageAfter property,
the property is still false - but it should be true
Do I use the wrong property?
What is the right RAS property to set Crystal report 'New Page After' Property in the code for group footer/group header?

There have been a few escalations of this type. For some odd reason you have to call the .Set 2 times...

Crystal 2011 getting Logon failed IM004 error when using ODBC (RDO)

I just installed Crystal Reports 2011 on Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. Sporadically, but way too often (I would estimate about 60% of the time), when I go to set up an ODBC (RDO) connection or refresh an existing report and enter the password, I get the following error:
Logon failed.
Details: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Driver's SQLAllocHandle on SQL_Handle_ENV failed
Other times, it just works, with no changed made. It seems to work slightly more often when using the SQL Server driver (the one for SQL 2000) as opposed to the SQL Native Client or SQL Server Native Client 10.0 drivers. But not often enough for that to be the solution.
I have tested this with a locally installed SQL Server (on the same machine as Crystal Reports) and remote SQL Servers, with SQL 2000, 2005 and 2008. Same results.
I have Crystal Reports 2008 installed on the same machine and have not once had this problem. I have tried using the same ODBC connections I already had from Crystal 2008 with Crystal 2011 and also to create new ones, same results either way.
Is this a known issue, or is there a switch/setting I need to change to make this work consistently? I am especially puzzled by the fact that it seems random, I have not been able to find any pattern at all.

MS SQL Server 2008 has a client install now, the MDAC/WDAC doesn't install it as MS used to do with all of their OS's. CR also had to update the use of SQL Server 2008 to include the SQLNCLI10 client engine.
I suggest, if you have not already, install the Native 10 client from either the SQL Server CD or you can download the MSI from MS's site and only use the Native 10 driver.
MS kind of dropped ODBC and moved to OLE DB. The native client actually uses the OLE DB driver so using ODBC just puts another layer on top of OLE DB anyways. It's more convenient to use ODBC for deploying applications but it can affect performance.
Anyways, as noted, CR 2011 is still in Ramp up mode so this issue may have been tracked. If not though you can purchase a support case, if it's a bug then you'll get a refund, if it's a limitation in MS then no refund.

Seems to be a problem with that page right now so try again later... and apply SP 1 or wait until it goes GA and test again. If it's still an issue then you can log a case.

Turned browser on this am, and opens in Japaness language.reinstalled same problem.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Crystal 2011 - Formats lost when published to CMC

Hi team,
Here's my issue...
Have exported a Crystal 2009 report and saved it into 2011.
I noted that some of the formats had changed slightly. i.e. font size, paragraph line spacing
Fixed these, ran the report from crystal 2011 and exported the report to PDF, looks great!
Published the report to CMC and ran a test hoping to get the same results, however this time the formats are gone?
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong, please.

Thanks for your reply, the formats are being lost when I export to PDF.
We wonder if the problem is something to do with the way the text was formatted in the older version of crystal and that exporting and importing into Crystal 2011 has lost some of this.

Crystal reports and Progress Open Edge V10.1b

I cannot use Crystal Reports 2008 on Progress Open Edge V10.1b, but the prior version of Crystal Reports works. Is there a fix for this?

Moved your post to Legacy Forum.
I believe Open Edge uses the RDC COM report engine ( craxdrt.dll ). As of CR XI R2 this COM report engine is no longer shipped. It was moved into legacy mode in Version 9.
Your only options now are to stay with CR XI R2 ( 11.5 ) which was the last version that still shipped the RDC or if OE has a .NET framework plug-in that supports .NET assemblies.
Also note that CR XI R2 is getting close to its end of life and complete support for it will end in 2011.

Crystal Reports Server 2011 and BW 7 as a data source for uploaded reports.

I am hoping someone can provide me with a clear answer for this.
Lets assume..
1. We are running crystal reports server 2011 and BW 7
2. We want to publish a report in the BI Launch pad so users can view it
3. Can we create a crystal report in the report designer with the data source as BW 7 then upload it to the reports server and have it run on-demand and Run over night?
Can anyone shed some light in this area?

Crystal Reports Server is not supporting the SAP Integration Kit. You will need BusinessObjects Edge or BusinessObjects Enterprise

Unexpected behaviour for Crystal Reports 2011 and publications

I had publication based on crystal reports 2008 hosted on a bobj 3.1 box.
The report was reporting off a BW Query and the publication list was also based on a BW query.
When it ran is successfully drop the reports on a share in pdf format.
I've upgraded the crystal reports to 2011 and they are now hosted on bobj4.0 box. I can run both reports successfully on their own.
Now I try to create a publication.
I am able to select the source report, but as soon as I try to select my the report for my dynamic recipients I get the following error message
Cannot open report document. --- Item SI_FALLBACK_LOCALE was not found in the collection. [CRCAF00000004]
Any ideas?

Hi Daniel,
You do not state the patch level of the BI4.0 system, I would advise you to test with one of the later BI4.0 Patch levels i.e. Patch 2.4 or Patch 2.5 if possible as there have been some fixes in relation to publications which may help.
Alternatively can you open the Dynamic Recipient report in the CR2011 designer, refresh it, republish it back to BI4.0 repository. Then schedule the Dynamic Recipient report on it's own and try recreating the publication again - does it work?
The error:
"Cannot open report document. --- Item SI_FALLBACK_LOCALE was not found in the collection."
suggests there is some kind of mismatch between the locale used in the upgraded CR2011 report and the BI4.0 system.
Were the XI3.1 environment and the BI4.0 environment installed with the same selection of Language Packs? If not you could bring the BI4.0 system in line with the XI3.1 system in terms of language packs and retest. However as Language Packs can not be added post BI4.0 installation that would require a reinstallation of BI4.0.
Also if you create a simple test Dynamic Recipient report in BI4.0 does this work? That would at least confirm there is some type of corruption in the migrated BI4.0 Dynamic recipient reports.

Outlook is still not working. Can anyone please advise me on what to do next.

Remove MS Office 2011 completely (here are instructions) and reinstall it.
It's not a simple or fast process but it is important to follow all of the steps in order to get all the files that Office scatters around. This will not affect your data files, only MS Office and its preferences.

You have most of the info already here. Just use Query Builder to pull back the rest of the object info and you'll have what you need. I'm not sure which report you want, but either can be achieved in much of the same way. You'll need to know the parent-child heirarchy for the folder structure to determine where this report sits. once you have this info, open the CR designer and open the report from the repository navigating the folder heirarchy you found.
1. Open "Query Builder" from the start | programs menu on the server. Depending on the version of XI you are using, the url will differ.
2. Execute a query similar to what you posted to bring back the info for the report object (not instances) with the name 'scorecard'. If multiple reports exist in different folders with the same name, they will all be returned.

3. Look for SI_PARENT_FOLDER attribute and query on this ID next. That should give you the name of the parent folder the report sits within.

4. You will need to keep querying for the parent in order to work your way up the folder tree.

When I try and open Microsoft Word 2011 documents they start opening one after another at a rapid speed and I can't stop it. I reboot and same thing happens?

The documents open in rapid succession on their own and don't stop until I force close or after maybe 100 or more open I start getting the following message for each document attemting to open "This document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create links from other documents to this document" and then in paretheses the name of the document. After I click okay another trys to open. Any suggestions?

If you had multiple documents open and quit the app without closing all of the docs first, it will open them again when you launch the app. Open Word, and then close all the documents, you may be asked to save the document, if the document was already saved but you made changes to it before you quit the app, you may need to save the changes first, shorcut ( command and s keys). After you close all of the documents then quit the app and restart the computer. See if this works.
