Crystal 8.5 Licensing?

I've been assigned to maintain some old VB 6.0 code that was developed by a different company.  Some of the reports appear to be Crystal Reports 8.5 ttx files.
While I've found several places I can download Crystal Reports 8.5 developer from, I would prefer to have a valid license key.  Is there any  place I can purchase one left?  I see NO legacy products in the SAP store.

Ouch - stone ages
But seriously.
1) TTX file is not the actual report. You can think of TTX files as equivalent to an XSD and CR would use it to verify that a record set being passed to the report had a correct structure.
2) If this is a 3rd party app, it deployed the CR runtime. The runtime is free and you do not need any license for this. The 3rd party needed a license to use the APIs, but runtime is free.
Given the above, I am not sure why you are looking for an actual "license key". E.g.; the only time you need a license is if you will be using the CR designer and or using \ developing with one of the SDKs that came with the CR designer.

  • Crystal Reports IX license

    Will the Crystal Reports Basic license that is supplied with SAP B1 work with Crystal Reports XI?

    Hi Bill,
    honestly i dont know !
    It is an OEM version so i would guess no.
    The best would be to download the CR Trial version and install it with your supplied key. Than you will see if it works.

  • Crystal Reports Server licensing

    My question concerns Crystal Reports Server licensing.
    There is a limit of 20/100 licenses per server and 1 server per deployment. What should I do to implement solution that requires more than that? What does "deployment" mean in terms of licensing?
    I'm not sure if this is the right place to post a question like that.

    You would need to purchase Business Objects Enterprise if you need a scalable solution as far as I know.
    You will need to talk to a sales person for a more definitive answer.

  • Crystal Server 2011 license confusion

    I have a question about Crystal Server 2011, that for some reason, our software vendor cant answer. A client has Crystal Server 2011 installed with 5 named users. These users can create and publish reports, as well as view them. However, users that have no license CANNOT view these published reports. I was under the impression that the 5 named user licenses are there for report creation, and that the other 100 users without licenses would be able to view these reports. Do these other users need licenses as well? If that is the case, it would make this product very costly to run. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello,
    You have different kind of licenses.
    Licenses used to create reports are different to the ones used for viewing reports.
    BO has 2 kind of licenses: Concurrent and Named
    Named licenses means that you have one licence per user declared in the CMC, This person can connect to the system at anytime.
    Concurrent licenses means that only a certain of people are allowed to connect to the system at the same time. So very usefull if you have like 100 users but you know that at peak times, only 10 are connected simultaneously (you need only 10 concurrent license in that case).
    But yes, in order to connect to a BOE platform or Crystal server, you need a license (even for just viewing a report).

  • Crystal Reports 9 Licensing

    Our legacy back office application uses the Crystal Reports 9 run-time engine and one of our customers wants to customise the reports we provide, but cannot now purchase Crystal Reports 9.
    The problem with this is if they purchase the latest version, the reports generated in the latest version are not backwards compatible and will not work within our application.
    Do you know if they purchase the latest version whether they can under the terms of the license use the Crystal Reports 9 editor program to modify reports?

    I'd want to look at the details of this a bit more:
    The problem with this is if they purchase the latest version, the reports generated in the latest version are not backwards compatible and will not work within our application.
    What issues are you seeing? You should not be seeing issues, unless the reports use features introduced since CR 9 was released. In particular, dynamic and cascading parameters. There may be others, nut these would be an absolute show stopper.
    You may also be still able to obtain copies of CR 9. Call sales at 866-681-3435, see if they can help.

    Application.RunReportWizard(NewReport,Nothing)

  • Do I need a new Crystal Reports XI license key?

    Hello. I am hoping someone here can help me, as I have not had any luck getting useful information over the phone.
    I have uninstalled Crystal Reports XI from a computer. How can I use the same license key for a new installation on a different computer for a different end-user in the near future? Or is the license key only allowed to be used on the machine it was originally installed on? My organization does have a paid software agreement.
    I found this link:
    http://www.businessobjects.com/support/Getting_Business_Objects_Product_Keycodes.pdf
    but my department supervisor is probably the only one who can access this (you need a certificate/authentication code), as he orders the software agreements. Am I on the right track, or are there more steps involved?
    Thank you very much for any information you can provide.

    How can I use the same license key for a new installation on a different computer for a different end-user in the near future?
    - You should be able to simply enter the keycode when prompted on install of CR XI.

  • Releasing Licenses Crystal Reports 2008

    We are considering to migrate our infrastructure  to Crystal Reports Server 2008. We have setup a test server with 5 CAL, and in order to make our reports work here,  we had to modify our code slightly to use a different viewer (Interactive viewer is not available anymore), we had also  to modify a bit our web.xml to configure a new servlet.
    In our current infrastructure (Crystal Reports Enterprise 10)  once we run a report via our Intranet Web application  by invoking it through the Java APIs and displaying it with the crystal viewers,  the licenses seem to be released even if the user still have the report in their browser's screen.
    With the new Crystal reports server (Crystal Reports Server 2008) this is not happening and the licenses are released only when the timeout happens.
    This doesnu2019t really work for us and we would like to reproduce the same behavior from the old version. Is there any server configuration or modification of the code that would allow me to achieve our desired behaviour on the new environment?
    Thanks!

    You would then be using unmanaged RAS, which, since Version XI (11.0) silently logs on to the system as the guest account and will use up a license.  You do not have direct access to the session that was created, and do not have a way to log off.

  • Crystal report XI error while Linking tables

    We have just purchased Crystal Report XI  license copy  but as we going to create new report there is problem in linking tables
    i.e while pressing LINK tab after selecting ODBC databse  name  application going shut down.Please suggest.Thanks in advance

    I would make verify the database within Crystal report and then re publish it again. It seems it doesn't get the connection to the db.
    Have you refreshed the database within Crystal Reports?
    As Graham said, does it open in Crystal Viewer?
    another thing would be to add the DSN (System DSN) onto your client machine as well. Maybe it is not getting a right connection.
    Try it and let us know.
    Kind Regards

  • Memory Leak in Crystal Report XI

    We are using Crystal Reports XI Licensed Developer version for web based application. The generated reports are getting accessed by multiple users from web interface. After continuos access of reports, at some point it reaches the maximum limit of Application pool and it stops the application.
    From number of web forms, we found that crystal reports are not releasing systems memory and it keeps adding extra load on memory after a single report generation or there is memory leak. Below are the code snippets to initialize and dispose of report object.
    a. Initializing a new report obj
    protected ReportDocument _selectedRpt = new ReportDocument();
    b. Disposing obj in page_unload event
    /// <summary>
    /// Page_Unload Event handler.
    /// </summary>
    /// <param name="sender">Sending control or event.</param>
    /// <param name="e">Generic event arguments.</param>
    protected void Page_Unload(object sender, EventArgs e)
         _selectedRpt.Close();
         _selectedRpt.Dispose();
    Temporary Solution:  For its temporary resolution, we are recycling application pool twice a day for smooth processing of reports, but recycling also destroying application session.
    Please suggest a solution, which can help to run crystal reports correctly without any memory leak.

    Helena, CR XI R2 is not supported in .NET 2008. See [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/WhichCrystalReportsassemblyversionsaresupportedinwhichversionsofVisualStudio+.NET] wiki for more details.

  • Crystal Reports and SAP BW 7

    Hi,
    I have been reading these posts and got bit confused.
    What do I need to integrate Crystal Reports and SAP BW 7 without BOE. My company has SAP NW license and Crystal Reports Enterprise license and plan to use CR for formatted reporting. Do I still need integration kit into SAP BW in order to create crystal reports on BEx queries and save into BW and view through the SAP NW Portal?
    Or am I fine without integration kit?
    many thanks

    Based on the below Ingo's blog in BI expert we would only need the following:
    You must install Crystal Reports Designer on the client
    You must install the client components for the BusinessObjects Integration Kit for SAP Solutions
    You must install an SAP front end with the SAP NetWeaver BI 7.X Add-On and the SAP BW 3.5 Add-On components on the client when using the connectivity on top of SAP NetWeaver BI
    Users need to have the necessary authorizations in the SAP system. For SAP NetWeaver BI, this means that users require the authorizations to view and execute BI queries. There are additional authorizations for SAP ERP access in authorizations class ZSSI that are specific to the connectivity that BusinessObjects provides.
    You must release the BI queries that you want to use with Crystal Reports for external access. You can set this property in the BI Query Designer.
    So, no mention of BOE.

  • How to create crystal reports using MSDE 2000?

    Post Author: S_Muhilan
    CA Forum: Deployment
    Hi,
    I am using Crystal report 8.5. My Database sqlserver 2000. I generated reports and are working fine.
    Now I want to use MSDE 2000 instead of Sqlserver 2000 due to license factor.
    My application is developed in VB 6. The all the parts of the application is working fine except the report.
    All reports produced Database DLL error.
    So I opened the report and try to verify the database. But it gives pdssql.dll not found. Database error.
    After this error, I tried to create a new report and found that there is no option for MSDE 2000 database selection under more database.
    I usually select Sql server 2000 database under More Database option of location wizard.
    How to create crystal reports using MSDE 2000?
    Is it due to crystal report 8.5 verison problem? I also have crystal report 11 licensed copy.
    Please give me the good solution as early as possible
    RegardsS. Muhilan

    To use the inproc RAS SDK with CR.NET, you'd have to purchase either (1) Crystal Reports XI Release 2 Developer edition, and apply Service Pack 2 or above, or (2) Crystal Reports 2008 (not Crystal Reports Basic that comes with Visual Studio 2008).
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda
