Crystal Enterprise Server Installation

Hi all,
My aim is to <b>write a crystal report</b> that will <b>communicate</b> with the BW Business Object and display the data from <b>SAP BW Server</b> and i want to publish the report through the web using the <b>portal iview.
</b>
I download the Crystal DVD from <b>http:
service.sap.com</b> it contained three folders. They are...
1. Crystal Report(cr)
2. Crystal Enterprise(ce)
3. Crystal Enterprise SAP Add-On(ce_se_disc1)
For installing these software i needed three <b>serial keys</b>...
On running the installation i found "<b>Get KeyCode</b>" Button, which lead me to web page...
http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/sap/oem_bw35_sap/en/form.asp
On submitting the form from the above link i got the 3 serial keys.
But, When i tried to install the setups, it reported me an
<b>error "Serial Key is invalid".</b>
I am able to successfully install only the Crystal Reports(cr). The problem persists when i tried to install the Crystal Enterprise(ce) and addon.
I am looking forward for a solution about the above problem.
Points Guarenteed.
Thanks & Regards,
Maheswaran.B

Hi Sharad dixit,
As you can see the above posts, it clearly states the i am not able to install the crystal server on my machine because i donot have a key code.
Do you have the Key Code?
If you have please send it to me from the email id in my business card. ( Just click on my name in the left side of the post ).
If you are only intreasted in the crystal report document you can get it from the SDN or http://service.sap.com...

  • How to add crystal enterprise server in portal?

Hello, I am not familiar with SAP Portal, I am a little bit confused with the following direction from point 5. I don't know how to add the system in the landscape. I don't see the Edit list. The netweaver version is 2004.
To configure the BusinessObjects Enterprise server
    1. From the top-level navigation bar, choose System Administration; then
    choose System Configuration.
    2. From the Detailed Navigation iView, choose System Landscape.
    3. In the Portal Catalog, expand Portal Content.
    4. In the folder containing the systems, right-click a system and choose
    Open, and then choose Object.
    5. In the System Landscape Editor, from the Edit list, select Crystal
    Enterprise Server.
    6. In the BusinessObjects Enterprise Editor, enter the following parameters:
u2022 Host Name of Crystal Enterprise Server:
Here you need to enter the BusinessObjects Enterprise server as fully
qualified host name (including the port).
    For example: BusinessObjects001.business.net:1080
u2022 Path of BusinessObjects Enterprise Server:
Here you need to enter the path to the viewer application you want to
    use for this system.

    Hi,
the steps are under the assumption that you have a system already configured in the portal.
the values for the BusinessObjects server are just properties. If you don't have a system configured you would have to create a system first - otherwise you can set these properties for an exisitng system

  • Does Crystal Enterprise X support IIS ISAPI for viewing a report

    Post Author: karthiknataraj
    CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
    Hi,
The Crystal Reports Web Component Server (Wcsinsapi.dll) is an Internet Service Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) compliant DLL. ISAPI is the programming interface that allows DLLs (like WCSinsapi.dll) to extend ISAPI compliant web servers functionality for processing HTTP requests. ISAPI DLLs are generally registered to handle HTTP requests for certain file types. This type of configuration is done by registering a file extension to the ISAPI DLL within IIS. For Crystal Reports the ".rpt" and ".cri" file extensions are registered to the Wcsinsapi.dll. Common behavior when the ISAPI registration is incorrect includes receiving an HTTP 500/501 error or being prompted to save to disk when trying to browse to a Crystal Report (.rpt file). This is supported by Crystal report 8.0 & I suppose the same in 9.0.
My questions are, is IIS ISAPI supported in Crystal Report X? Whether the RPT file can be launched in a browser with the parameters as query string (as in 8.0)? Why is the Wcsinsapi.dll not available in the crystal enterprise X installation?
I hope the answers to all the questions are, its deprecated. But I can't also find the documentation that clearly specified it is deprecated in crystal reports X. It would be greatly appreciated if any one can point to the documentation that specifically & clearly explains about this or correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks,
    Karthik

  • Simple sample code to display a Crystal Report from Crystal Enterprise?

I am looking for a sample application that will "simply" view a report stored on our Crystal Enterprise server. I have looked at "boesdk_net_samples_12.zip", but that isn't really what I am looking for. And, the "CrystalReportViewer" and "CrystalReportSource" add ins for Visual Studio seem to only work with a "local" file (instead of one Managed or UnManaged on our Crystal Enterprise server).
Can anyone point me to the right place? (Navigating the SAP site is so damn confusing!)

    Hi Shayne,
You are not clear on how you will know which report you want and for which user? You can query the CMS database for the user and get all of their reports but without knowing which report object ID to get you will need to have the user select one. Unless you simply assume you want the last one, but if you don't give them a choice and they miss one day, or what ever your parameter is to select, there will be no way to get back to that report.
For sample code on how to query the BOE Server look in the Enterpise SDK samples. You do need to use managed code. I don't suggest going into the FRS\output folder to use unmanaged reporting. There are a lot of folders created and it's easier to simply query the CMS database to get the latest instance.
Since you have BOE you should also have a support contract. I suggest you log a case on line in Service Market Place and get a dedicated Engineer to assist you.
This may be simply easier for you to use the Personal Favorites folder of the user so they can browse all report instances belonging to them. I suggest you talk to the BOE Administrator for more info on what BOE is capable of doing. what you want is fairly easy to manage with Enterprise itself.
    Thank you

    MAILS--Dear Mohit,
    Thanks for the patience.
We have received the below update from the Licensing Team.
You received your permanent key in respect of these licenses - the key is  for Crystal Reports Server XI.
You did not purchase these licenses for Crystal Reports Server, but purchased it for Crystal Reports and a 5-named user license for Crystal Reports was included as a special offer.  The software included was version XIR2, but you elected to use version XI instead and received key .
You would need to enroll the licenses in maintenance if you want to upgrade them.
In case of any queries please create a ticket via the Service Market Place.

    Ajit,
By design, the product is not able to be installed under the superuser account.
    1.  Create a new user and specify a home directory for the user without a quota set.
    2.  Copy or move the installation files to a directory that the new user can read.  I suggest you move the installation files directly into the new user's home directory.
    3.  Logon as the new user (or su - newuser)
    4.  run the installation shell script using that new user's account.
NOTE:  Ensure the system meets the requirements from the supported platforms documents.

    Hi Elaine,
So everything worked fine until you installed CRXI and BO R2 SP4?  Let me know if the order of installation I have below is correct:
    1.  crystal report server XI R2 .Net server 2005
    2.  Crystal report server XI (BO)
    3.  Crystal Report XI
    4.  BO XI SP4
I know the .net viewer is usually set up in the Crystal Reports Server installation.  I'm unsure as to why you have it listed separately.
Also which version of BO (Crystal Reports Server) are you installing (R1,R2,R3)?   Could you clearly outline your first 2 installation steps?

  • Ad Hoc query storeage in Crystal Enterprise

Apologies to all for a 'newbie' question. I was just handed control of our company's Crystal Enterprise server.
How and where does Crystal Enterprise store user defined ad hoc queries?
Are they stored in the database? or a local folder? If it's a folder, where is the default location?
    Thanks.

    Here is the scenario.
UserA creates an adhoc reports and saves it. (Using the Web interface.
1st. Issue. Where is the actual report physically saved? A blob in the db? A local folder? I want to double check our environment to make sure anything from our Active Directory rules aren't affecting this.
UserB wants to access UserA's report because he/she finds it useful but wants to modify a parameter.
2nd issue. UserB is unable to do so. I can access UserA's folder via CMS and copy the desired report to UserB because I am the adminitrator.
We would like to eliminate this by allowing any user to access and copy ad hoc reports, modify them as needed them save them to their personal space.
Again, I apologize if these are apparently simple issues. I backed into the project and am trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible.
Any assistance and recommendations would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Portal with Crystal Enterprise

Hi when i try to make export report from portlet I get string in portlet. See attach
file. But i need a download promt for report
    [untitled1.jpg]

    Hi Ingo,
I really thank you for all your help. Really appreciate it.
I imported the Business Package and par file from the below folder on the Crystal Enterprise Server:
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Web Content\Enterprise12\SAP\iviews\import\ep
    I immported : com.businessobjects.pct.sap_pik.epa
    and I uploaded : com.businessobjects.pct.masteriview.par
The import and upload were successful.
After this I read in the guide that:
The BusinessObjects XI Integration for SAP Solutions install includes sample
iViews. They are located in the following folder: C:\Program Files\Business
    Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\Web
    Content\Enterprise12\SAP\iviews\import\ep.
This folder contains all the files that are needed for you to import sample
iViews to your portal. The subfolder ep contains files for SAP Enterprise
Portal 6 (.epa files). Within each of these subfolders are additional subfolders
that contain the corresponding files for JSP.
But this is the same folder from which I uploaded and imported the .epa and .par file. There are no additional files to import sample iViews to my portal. The subfolder "ep" contains only 2 (.epa and .par) files as discussed above. there are no additional subfolders that contain the corresponding files for JSP.
    Is this correct?
Also, where can I find the iViews that I imported when I imported the business package? It says that :
    Pg 159
    Configuring the imported content:
After you have imported the import files for the iViews, you will find the folder
(BusinessObjects Enterprise Integrations Kit) in the Portal Content Directory.
Where do I find this folder?
    Thanks SB

CRS is limited to single server installs, it has less functionality such as no auditing. Enterprise can be clustered across many servers, has auditing and webi/deski from E6. So which one is best would depend on the size of your planned implementation and the features that you want.

  • Crystal Reports Server XI Installation

We just purchased Crystal Reports Server XI for Crystal Reports Professional and I want to install it minimally as I think we may have "overbought"; that aside, the big question is where do I go from here to put this on our servers w/o impacting current applications?
    TOPOLOGY:
    - we have a Windows network with Windows 2003 Small Biz Server and a 2nd server with Windows 2003 Standard running Terminal Services.
    - goal is to allow 1 main user to create reports from Quickbooks using Crystal Reports while they are on the Terminal Server
This breaks down into the following questions:
    1) do I need to install the server portion at all? or can I just install Crystal Reports Pro via the CLIENT installation on the terminal server?
    2) if I do have to, I'd rather use MSDE already installed but how should this be set up?
    3) what impact will this make on the SBS web server which we are already using for OWA and Remote Web Workplace?
Any tech docs/manuals that you could link me to would be appreciated as well.

    Hi Doug,
With regards to your questions, they will be answered in the following ways:
    1) do I need to install the server portion at all? or can I just install Crystal Reports Pro via the CLIENT installation on the terminal server?
This questions is better by your company's requirements.  The Crystal Reports Server (CRS) piece is used by end-users who want to browse reports via the web.  The CRS is just a central repository, analogous to a central storage box, which makes reports available over the web.  Crystal Reports (CR) is simply the client that is used to report off your database.  In this case, your 'database' is Quickbooks.
So in short, you will need to install Crystal Reports Pro for your user to make reports.  And if the user needs to view report over the web, then you will need CRS as well.  The user will create the report and save it to the CRS if he/she wants to view it over the web.
    2) if I do have to, I'd rather use MSDE already installed but how should this be set up?
The question may need further clarification.
However, if you are using MSDE to write reports with (for CR), then you can use an ODBC connection to connect it.  You can consult this external page as a guide:  http://www.truthsolutions.com/sql/odbc/creating_a_new_odbc_dsn.htm.  You will set the connection to your MSDE.
If you are asking about how to configure MSDE to be used as the CMS (Central Management Server) database for the CRS, then you will to consult our "BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration" forum.  As a note, the CMS is just a backend security database that authenticate user(s) that sign into the CRS.
Your post is posted in the "Crystal Reports" forum.
    3) what impact will this make on the SBS web server which we are already using for OWA and Remote Web Workplace?
If you are asking how CR would impact your web server, it should not have any effect.  If you are inquiring about how CRS would affect them, you will also need to consult our "BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration" forum.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 Installation Error

    Good day,
My name is Dominic Hung and I work at Business Objects.  One of my clients is coming across an installation error on their evaluation of CRS 2008 and is detailed as follows:
They currently have the actual report writer (Crystal Reports 2008) on a desktop PC.  It's not installed on the server.
We have the MySQL ODBC loaded on the local desktop as well as the server that is hosting CR2008 Server.
The credentials (userid/password) used in both the desktop and server's ODBC configuration is READ ONLY.
During the installation wizard for CR2008 Server, I key in the userid & password that I use when we create reports, but I receive an error stating that
    CMS database error: STU000226
BusinessObjects Enterprise CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "esc:10.127.214.22:3306".  Reason: Database access error. Reason access denied for user 'jdcherry'@'% to database 'esc'
This is where everything stops and they can't go further. They are not sure why they are receiving the "access denied" error as shown above.  They have no problem connecting to the MySQL database when they create a report using CR2008, the CR2008 SERVER won't accept my credentials during the installation.
    QUESTIONS:
The "jdcherry" UserID (which I use) is READ ONLY on the MySQL database that's hosted on the Linux box.  Does the userID have to have higher priviledges than just READ ONLY in order to validate the database credentials?
If so, what level of access is required?
Does the installation of CR Server update any of the tables that are stored on the MySQL database?
Do we need to install the Crystal Reports 2008 on the server in order for Crystal Reports 2008 SERVER to work?
What other workarounds can be done for the client?  The windows server they have Crystal Reports Server 2008 installed on has web services enabled but are continuing to come across issues.  Any insight for the client would be greatly appreciated.

Does the userID have to have higher priviledges than just READ ONLY in order to validate the database credentials?
The userID used when installing CRS must have dba previleges (create/drop tables) on the schema.
Does the installation of CR Server update any of the tables that are stored on the MySQL database?
You should create a new schema/DSN for the CMS db. The installation of CRS creates 8 new tables.
Do we need to install the Crystal Reports 2008 on the server in order for Crystal Reports 2008 SERVER to work?

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 Trial Installation Problem

I recently downloaded the trial version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 and ran into a problem with the installation key code sent to me.  During the install, I enter the keycode and the install application says it is invalid.  I'm attempting to install the Linux version on Red Hat Enterprise 5.2.  I know that this is technically not a supported version of Linux but I would not expect that cause a problem with the  key code.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening?
    Thanks...

    Hi Jeff,
I would suggest you to install Crystal reports on supported platform only.
To narrow down the issue you can try to install on other machine with supported environment so that it would be clear that the issue is with Keycode or not.
