Crystal Preview won't print to printer

Hi there,
I have Crystal 11.5 and my report will preview but when I attempt to print to the printer from the preview screen.
It shows my printer.  I select "Print" and nothing happens.
Nothing prints and no errors...
Any ideas?

Hi,
This may be a question you'll have to take to the application vendor since it previews fine.  Usually this indicates the report is not communicating with your printer.  Possibly the wrong driver is installed or the report is being directed to a different printer.
Check the Windows Print Manager.  Do you see the report in the queue or is it jut gone with you print?
Because this is a third-party application, it's possible they created their own print button and is handling the printing differently as I mentioned above.
Good luck,
Brian

  • Preview won't print

Preview won't print most PDF files that I've created using the 'Save as PDF' in the print dialog window. It just spits out blank pages. If I select 'Preview' it show the document correctly but telling it to Print just produces a lot of blank pages.
This also happens to many PDF files that I've downloaded and were not created on my machine.
Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thanks in advance

Sounds like a driver issue. Has this ever worked or is this the first time you've tried? I'd test in a new user to be sure it isn't a corrupt Preview preference (which you could isolate in ~/Library/Preferences/). If the same thing happens in a new user, I'd say it's the printer settings. Try resetting the printer system via Printer Setup Utility and then go back to Sys Prefs > Print & Fax to add your printer. You could need to re-install the driver as well if that doesn't resolve. Good luck!

  • Preview won't print many installed fonts

Since updating to OS 10.5, Preview won't print many fonts from my pdf documents. The odd thing is, Acrobat will! The fonts are all installed in my library, so I can't figure out why Preview won't recognize them when printing. Any ideas?

Some more info: I've tried deleting prefs, ran Disk Warrior, repaired permissions, added a new user... nothing helps. What is more, when I go to print, many of Preview's drop down menu items ("color", "print settings", etc) don't fully display their information. Help!

  • Preview won't print some PDF's

Periodically, Preview will not print some PDF files. I open them, print them, it appears to go to the printer, yet nothing happens. Both with HP laserjets and a brother USB multifunction.
Yet if I use Adobe Acrobat on the same file it prints fine. ANyone know what might cause this?
    Thanks.

Is there anything in Concole or the CUPS log (/var/log/cups/error_log)? It could be a font problem, but one of the places above should have some indication.
    Hope this helps.

  • .pdf in preview won't print

For the past 2 days, I am having issues printing documents I am viewing in Preview.  When I press (command P) the File button highlights briefly, but then the print screen does not come up.  However, on occasion, it has worked.  I have all software up to date and have tried restarting the computer and closing all software.  Every other program prints just fine, (for instance, in mail, I can press Command P and it will bring up the print screen as usual).  Any thoughts on why this is happening?

first step of toubleshooting sould always be
if the command p fails does choosing print in the menu works?
that should narrow it down to if it's a general printing issue or a shotkey issue...

  • Preview won't print some PDF files

Hi everyone, I know a similar problem has been already discussed but it was not solved.
When I print some PDF files from Preview on a Lexmark C524 color laser printer, I get only figures and symbols but no text. If I print the same files on a HP 2100 it prints ok.
I thought it was the printer driver, but then I tried the same using Adobe Reader 9.1 and it prints fine on all printers. So my guess is that it might be some PDF version compatibility issue with Preview.
    Any idea anybody?
You can find one of the PDF giving problems at the following address: http://www.pnas.org/content/106/1/97.full.pdf
    Thank you,
    A.

  • Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

    Hello,
I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:
    1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent
    2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)
But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.
I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.
I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)
the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.
Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?
    system:
Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)
MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)
    Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04
printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

I just found this solution on another board, I tried it  (I removed the same file listed below) and it worked for me....
Safari won’t save or print PDFs: how to fix

If Safari won’t save or print PDFs (but views them without any problems), you probably have an Adobe PDF plug-in installed. In Safari, go to Help->Installed Plug-ins and do a search for “PDF.” If you have anything with “PDF” in it other than “WebKit built-in PDF,” that is probably the culprit.
On my computer, the problem was “AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin”. To remove it, I quit Safari, did a Spotlight search (Command-Option space) for that file name, and then dragged it to the trash. When I restarted Safari, I could print and save PDFs again. You can also manually find the plugins by going to the system “Library”  folder (the one at the root of your hard disk, not in your user folder) and looking in the “Internet Plug-Ins” folder.
    I’m on OS X 10.8.2, running Safari 6.0.2 (8536.26.17).

  • Documents downloaded via Firefox won't print or appear in preview

Documents opened with Firefox won't print or even appear in preview. The document can be viewed but won't print. When trying to print (or see in preview) only a blank page appears. This happens even when the document is saved or made a PDF file. This began with 3.6.13 and continues with 3.6.15. Curiously, documents saved or made a PDF before this began ~ 2 weeks ago can be still be printed and viewed in preview. I'm using an iMac with OS X 10.6.6 and a CanonMX 300 printer

    Hi Lidia.C,
I understand that you are passionate about fixing this issue and I am sorry that it is so difficult to print.
It is possible to change the default program that reads pdfs if it does not work from adobe. This can be done from the "3bar" > Options > Applications menu. [[Set how Firefox handles different types of files]]
Does downloading the file and saving it first, then opening the file in another program allow you to print in the meantime?
If there is a lockfile in the profile, it may be that preferences are not allowed to be changed. [[How to fix preferences that won't save]]
    I hope this helps.

  • I cant' print using firefox. print preview won't display, won't print, printing dialog box won't display, etc

Seems like since I updated to firefox 5 I can't print web pages, print preview won't work. I click on the print option under file and nothing displays or prints.

Try the Firefox SafeMode and see if you can initiate printing from within Firefox. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    # You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    # Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Using Aurora 5.0a2 and is suddenly won't print or do print preview.

Says "printer can't be found" after Print Preview; and "do you want to install a printer" after Print. Clicking Yes I get Print Spooler service is not running, but checking that reveals it is. I recently installed a Java upgrade; tried uninstalling but it can't find the .msi file and fails.
I'm using Windows XP Professional; happens everytime I try to print. I've tried reinstalling 5.0a2 via update but still won't print; also tried stopping and starting Printer Spooler service and shutting down my computer, then restarting it and Aurora. Nada.

Many thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
It's all very mysterious but it seems to have corrected itself.  Eventually the error message "out of paper" appeared yesterday (it had plenty), I pushed in the paper and things started printing again.  I was also able to scan again.  Not sure if it was down to a Google glitch or what but we're up and running again.
    Merci beaucoup!

  • Footers won't print in Office or Preview PDF's

I have had trouble with my HP printer printing footers and printing on the lower portions of the pages.
I am using Microsoft Word from Office 2008. I am also having the problem when printing pdf's from Preview.
My printer will print borderless photos some I am assuming that the problem is in a setting. I've looked everywhere I know to look.
    Some help would be appreciated.

  • Won't Print to Kodak 1400 Professional - "Printing" never ends

Hi - Using MacBook Pro 17" and Aperture. OS 10.4.x. Out of box, new Kodak 1400 Professional Printer worked fine, and printed several great pictures. A week later, I was unable to print anything at all. Printer Window shows "PRINTING" and the twirling barber pole thermometer, but it NEVER prints however long I wait and no error message.
I've opened and closed printer, restarted printer and computer, checked that the firmware is up to date, re-set the paper in tray, etc. ALSO, it won't print JPGS from Preview, or apparently anything.
    What could have happened?
    Fix?
    David Ferleger
    email [email protected]

I have no idea if this will help anyone, but it helped me. I had my Kodak 1400 working with no problems for quite a while. I never really printed much, but I did now and then. About two months ago, I ran out of paper and didn't purchase any more for a while. I finally got my two packs (so I could get the third free!) about two weeks ago. I now have two clients who need prints, a total of about 85 8x10s.
So, I setup the printer, installed the driver, and started going about my business. Setup the prints, got it all rolling, and prepared to run the first print through as I've found the first print on a new ribbon is a dud due to dust. Nothing happened. It went to "printing" and stared at me as though it were as dumbfounded I asked it to print as I was that it WASN'T printing.
That was yesterday. Since then, I've removed the driver about a bajillion times. Googled this, FAQ'd that, held my tongue appropriately, used different USB cables, different USB ports, removed the other printer, blahdy blahdy blah. Then, this afternoon while I was somewhere between awake and sleep, it hit me: why not try an older driver. I thought about it, and realized that since the last time I was using the 1400 successfully, I'd reinstalled OSX. What were the odds that when I downloaded the driver the last time, I downloaded the "wrong" driver and got the old one (1.0.2) instead of the NEW correct driver, 2.0.0.
So, I removed the old driver from everywhere I could. Restarted the computer. Installed 1.0.2, cliked print, and felt my heart sink as the red Error light blinked intermittently with the "Media" light. Shot through the heart... then, all of a sudden, it sucked in some paper, and started printing! Problem solved!
So, if you still can't print, try using 1.0.2. It might not work, but if you can't print with 2.0.0, what harm can it do? NONE! Muhahahaha. I feel so adventurous for using an old driver. (yes, this is what now counts as "adventure" for me... now go away or I shall taunt you a second time.)
    Hope that works for someone!

  • I'm on a mac and my printer won't print

I'm on a mac and it sends the document to my printer (Hp Photosmart 4680 all in one) but the printer won't print. My printer has been working just fine and now it won't print. Am I doing something wrong. This happened once before and I got frustrated with and left it for about 2 days, I had tried everything I could think of, unplugging for an hour or more, uninstalling and reinstalling, checked ink levels they were fine. Then all of a sudden it started to work again. I just turned on my computer and printer and amazingly it just started to print. Has anyone else had this problem? If so what did you do? Or does anyone have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong!
    Thanks
    This question was solved.

Do you have HP software installed (in your Applications folder)?  If so and you got it from the printer CD, let's get rid of it:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Now, run a Software Update.
Next, remove and re-install the printer in System Preferences, Print & Fax.
You do not need the software now since Snow Leopard has both print & scan drivers built-in. Scan from Preview or Image Capture apps. Scanning from the front panel of the printer does not yet work.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

With only one cartridge light blinking I would suspect the cartridge, they do rarely fail (much more often for reman cartridges, see here).  Clean the cartridge contascts as shown here.  If that fails and the cartridge is an original HP then check the warranty date as shown here.  If the cartridge is in warranty return it to your dealer for a warranty replacement.
The printer will automatically switch to backup mode if the black (or color in some printers) cartridge is removed.  I do not know if this works with the PSC 1510, some all-in-on devices insist on having both cartridges present.
