Crystal Report Chart Data (Y) Axis setting

Is there a way to set the Y axis to use a variable for scaling. For instance, I have various units of measure some 1-10, some maybe 100-500, etc. I'd like to have the capability of setting increments depending on how I want it to scale.

Thats my problem. I want the ability to auto based on my own input. in the auto range I can only set 1 range of value. what if i have value that range from 1 to 1000. my chart will compress to much. so i want to say for this particular phase i want a range of 1 to 10. maybe another phase i want a range of 20-100.

Problem With Crystal Reports Reading Date Fields From CSV File

I have a date field in a CSV file in the format 06/28/09 17:23:55.523. When I use ODBC the configuartion picks it up a character field. I overright the recommendation type by specifing it is a date field but whne I bring the data into crystal reports the dates are blanks. Any suggestions on how to get around this problem. I need to use the date for selection records.

Custom data labels in Crystal Reports charts

Hi,
I have a problem with charts in Crystal Reports. The notation prescribe e.g. that positive values appears a plus (+21) and negative values a minus (-21).
The problem is, that I canu2019t assign custom values to the data labels (e.g. the value is 20 but I want to show +20 or 18 or something else).
Furthermore, its a problem that I can't scaling depending on a formula field. This is required that all charts in the report have the same scale and are dynamically depending on the values in the report.
I need a solution to both problems, or a workaround.

Migrating from Crystal Reports Charts using TopN and "Other" to Reporting Services

I am currently migrating several Crystal Reports that have charts. The chart series is set to use the TopN values in a count, and combine the rest of the series into one series titled "Other". I see how to filter the chart using TopN, however I need to still show the rest of the data grouped as "Other". I think the solution I need is to create a group expression that uses some sort of IIF function to create the "Other" group, but I haven't found a function that I can use to get the results I need. Any ideas?

We were looking at report deployment options and evaluating SSRS vs Crystal Report Server. There were several reasons we decided to go with SSRS:
Cascading Parameters
Ability to use multiple data sets in one report
SSRS seemed more user-friendly than CRS
There were a few other considerations I can remember now, but the final reason was price. My company already had the licenses for SQL Server. However, even if that was not a consideration I still would have gone with SSRS.

Crystal Report Chart Problem: No trendlines with regression

Hi,
I have a severe problem with chart trendlines in Crystal Reports 2008 (12.3.0.601).
Trendlines with regression do not work, whereas average and moving average work on charts with data axis but not with numerical axis.
Does anyone has an idea, how to solve it.

hi,
Try to create a bar chart with Year, Quarter as dimensions and Sales revenue as measure.
Now your chart has legend which shows quarter values.
Right Click the Legend value Q1 -> Series Options -> Trendline.
Choose the required regression type: Linear/ Polynomial/ Logarthmic/ exponential/ Moving Average.
This will show the required trend line.

Crystal Reports XI Dates appearing in US format instead of UK Settings

Hi,
When I am running reports from my java Web Application using crystal reports XI, the dates are being displayed as mm/dd/yyyy even though the regional settings are set to dd/mm/yyyy and the date format of the reports is set to use System Default Short Format.
The database used is Oracle 9i.
Any idea what should I change in the configuration to make the dates appear as dd/mm/yyyy?

In the report, I put the date format as the system default short date format so that it takes the date format from the server.
I tried the following:
            Locale x = new Locale(req.getHeader("Accept-Language"));
            clientDoc.setLocale(x);
but I got the error:
      Invalid parameter value: exceeds the Min or Max or conflicts with existing value or edit mask---- Error code:-2147217382 Error code name:failed
I get this when I am checking if it has a sub report using:
IStrings subrepstrings = clientDoc.getSubreportController()
                    .querySubreportNames();

Crystal Reports Charting Issue with SAP Function Module

I created a custom SAP Function module that returns 2 tables. The first table (summary table) contains two columns, column "a" contains a grouping and column "b" is a quantity. The second table is the detail and is linked to the first table by the grouping, column "a" , in both tables. I can bring the function module into Crystal Reports, but cannot create a drill down using a pie chart off the summary table. When I go into the Chart Expert - Data Tab only the Advance button is active and the Group, Cross-Tab, and OLAP buttons are deactivated. First of all, is it possible to do this using a SAP Function Module, if yes, what am I doing wrong.

i am not sure if you found an answer for your question yet. if you have a Group and a Summary on your report (i.e. the Sum of your Quantity field) then group charts should be enabled.

Crystal Report chart with VB6 help...

Hello!....I m using crystal report with visual basic 6.......i develop a report in crystal report in which i add a chart control......when i see preview in crystal report and move mouse over chart then on Tool tip i get each data point shown on mouse movement......
but when i open this report in VB...and run project and move mouse over it the i only get "CHART"...for whole movement.....how i can get data values for mouse movement in VB6??.....thanks in advance........

How and Why...
In Crystal Report Designer the viewer is built into the executable and therefore has direct access to the report objects. The Charting dll is also a third party dll which we have hooks into in CR Designer and can get and pass the required info from the charting dll to the internal viewer. It's all processed on the local PC.
In code there are limitations as to what the ActiveX and other viewers have access to due to WEB issues. When viewing reports from a WEB app we are passing each page to the browser in a proprietary "picture" format of each page therefore there is no way to capture where the mouse is when it's over a chart object, it is an embedded picture also. Same for non-web applications, it's a limitation of the browsers and viewers mostly.

Crystal Report 2013 - Data not displayed

Dear All
I created one report connecting to SAP Tables directly.
a) I made a new connection - connecting to SAP tables directly.
b) It is connected successuly. It shows all related tables correctly.
c) I selected a table MARA
d) I selected the fields MATNR, ERNAM (for example)
Completed the report.
But on executing, the data is not displayed.. It idspayes 0 records selcted.. ( no errors also )
Can someone help me... Why the dta is is not fetched...

Reproducing the Issue
 Verify from the SAP Customer Relationship Management System that the table or function to which Crystal Report will connect to has data.
 In Crystal Report, create a new report using the connection: SAP Table, Cluster, or Function.
 The new connection will use the Open SQL driver to connect to the table of SAP System.
 Add database fields to the Details section of the report.
 Refresh the report.
 The report returns no data.
Cause
 This is an SAP Netweaver Gateway issue that prevents Crystal Reports from retrieving data.
 When looking at the Crystal Reports logs, you will notice the SAP Gateway Connection to the SAP Netweaver System fails with the error:

Crystal Report Chart not showing up in Web Portal

I have a created a chart using Crystal Reports(runs fine in Crystal) and published it on our Report Server. When I went to look at the report on our Web portal, the text objects were visible however the chart was not. Portal is in JSF technology (IceFaces) on JBoss server.
Anyone know why this happening?

Yes I did. I created file "crystalreportviewers115" in my "WEB-INF" and coped there all file from "C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12\".

- java
- managed
In my case i haven't file "crystalreportviewers115" but "crystalreportviewers12".
In eclipse the structure of my app (its "Dynamic Web Project") looks like:

Crystal Report generating data from incorrect data source

In dealing with a recent post about an upgrade to Crystal XI R2 mixing badly with an old VS 2003 project ( Update to CR XI R2 and service pack 4 issues with VS 2003 ), I've been attempting a few things to get past the issues with missing parameters and so on. I found that I actually was using a parameter in the report I was trying to run, so I assigned the proper value to said parameter, ran the report, and lo and behold all was well. The data was coming back correctly, no errors, everything seemed fine. 
Then I checked the results against the production environment of this application, hosted on a remote server, and was disappointed to find that the reports were now coming back blank. After some deeper investigation, it turned out that the data it was retrieving was coming from my development server and not the production server like it had in the past. As far as I can tell, it is completely ignoring the dataset that I'm assigning to the report object (which is filling with the correct data) and just running the query built into the report, which is connected via ODBC to my development server database. I have no idea what this is going to do when the application is run from the production environment itself, as in, my customers running the application from their desktops, and I have no way of testing this. 
I will fully admit that the report may be poorly designed, because then and surely enough now I'm no crystal expert, but as I said in my previous thread, this all worked fine until I upgraded to XI R2 for another project. Essentially what I want is for the report to accept the dataset and display ONLY that data, and not run a query against the ODBC connection. Is there some way to force this behavior? Here's a sample of my code, if it helps:

It's all relatively simple, create a dataset, load the report, assign the dataset to the report, export to a PDF.
I've tried to reassign the report's connection to the currently connected database (code snippet below) but every time I end up getting a logon failed error message, even when I know for sure the login data is correct, and even when I'm just connecting to my local development server.

I ran that after loading the report, but received a failed login error every time. Any suggestions on how to proceed with this? I'm at a loss because up until now I've never had a problem like this with a crystal report, they always just took the datasets I gave them without ever running anything else.

After attempting quite a few of the proposed solutions, nothing seemed to be working. Due to the limited usage and number of reports in my application, I decided to try recreating them from scratch (there are only 3 and 2 are nearly identical) using only the crystal 9 integrated designer in VS2003. My initial testing has been successful, even using the same base query that the failing reports were using.
Dropping everything and recreating all of ones reports is not the greatest solution, but at worst it's a few hours of tweaking, as opposed to days of frustration messing around trying to get the "corrupted" reports to work again. Thank you again for your assistance.

VS2010 Crystal Report Crashes System when using 'Set DataSource Location..'

This is on an imported report from VS2008. VS2008 has no problem with the report.
Since this is a ASP.NET 3.5 program the internal property field

has been set in the project in order to allow the code to compile w/out errors.

Here's one link on the issue: CRVS2010 RTM: Database Expert / External Component has thrown an exception
The reason is Old OS's used c:\temp as the default, now you are require to use %user%\temp as your temp folder as well as using the AppData folder for your app. If CR finds c:\temp it uses it and depending on what is in there it can cause Cr to crash, XML files have been know to do this.
Following MS's new rules on users temp folder should make your app Windows Compliant.

I am not familiar with crystal report. But using queries (that already answered) you can create crystal report.
