Crystal Report crash when run

i tried reinstalling my application, but it still crash when i run using a dynamic parameter from Business View.  any thoughts on how to solve this issue?

I have the same issue.  I thought it was my computer, but I have reloaded the OS and reinstalled CR XI release 2 version 11.5.11.1470.
I can create a new report and set the parameters manually (in the Selection Formula not a Static Parameter), but as soon as I use a dynamic parameter and run it, CR closes out and I get box letting me know it closed.  There is no error message.
The same happened in XP and I am using Windows 7 now.

    Hello,
    To get to SP 6 first you have to install SP 4 5 and 6 incrementals.
    It is easier if you uninstall CR and then install the full build of SP4 and then apply SP5 and SP 6, 5 and 6 are incremental builds only.

    Run License Manager first to get the keycode if you don't have it on paper somewhere.

  • Crystal Reports crashes when accessing Help or refreshing report data

    I am running Crystal Reports 2008 (v12.0.0.683) on the same server as Business Objects XI 3.0.  When I open a report in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer client, the client crashes without any error messages if I try to access the Help files or refresh the current report data.  My report does include parameters and a subreport.  I am logging onto the Windows 2003 SP2 server via a Remote Desktop connection.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Kathy

    Please re-post if this is still an issue to the Business Objects Forum or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you
    directly.  If you have a valid BOE version and support contract you can log a case in SMP.

  • Reports fail when run against a different data source

    Hello,
    We have a VB.NET 2008 WinForms application running on Microsoft .NET 3.5. We are using Crystal Reports 2008 runtime, service pack 3 -- using the CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer in the app to view reports. In the GAC on all our client computers, we have versions 12.0.1100.0 and 12.0.2000.0 of CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.
    Please refer to another one of our posted forum issues, u201CCritical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008u201D, as these issues seem to be related:
    Critical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008
    We were concerned with report display slow down, and we seemed to have solved this by using the Oracle Server driver (instead of either Microsoft's or Oracle's OLEDB driver).  But now we must find a resolution to another piece of the puzzle, which is:  why does a report break if one data source is embedded in the .rpt file is different than the one you are trying to run the report against, in the .NET Viewer?
    Problem:
    If you have a production database name (e.g. "ProdDB") embedded in your .rpt file that you built your report from and try to run that report against a development database (e.g. "DevDB") (OR VICE VERSA -- it is the switch that is the important concept here), the report fails with a list of messages such as this:
        Failed to retrieve data from the database
        Details:  [Database vendor code: 6550 ]
    This only seems to happen if the source of the report data (i.e. the underlying query) is an Oracle stored procedure or a Crystal Reports SQL Command -- the reports run fine against all data sources if the source is a table or a view).  In trying different things to troubleshoot this, including adding a ReportDocument.VerifyDatabase() call after setting the connection information, the Crystal Reports viewer will spit out other nonsensical errers regarding being unable to find certain fields (e.g. "The field name is not known), or not able to find the table (even though the source data should be coming from an Oracle stored procedure, not a table).
    When the reports are run in the Crystal Reports Designer, they run fine no matter what database is being used; but the problem only happens while being run in the .NET viewer.  It's almost as if something internally isn't getting fully "set" to the new data source, or something -- we're really grasping at straws here.
    For the sake of completeness of information, here is how we're setting the connection information
            '-- Set database connection info for the main report
            For Each oConnectionInfo In oCrystalReport.DataSourceConnections
                oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
            Next oConnectionInfo
            '-- Set database connection info for each subreport
            For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
                For Each oConnectionInfo In oSubreport.DataSourceConnections
                    oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
                Next oConnectionInfo
            Next oSubreport
    ... but in troubleshooting, we've even tried an "overkill" approach and added this code as well:
            '-- Set database connection info for each table in the main report
            For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.Database.Tables
                With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
                    .ServerName = gsDBDataSource
                    .UserID = gsDBUserID
                    .Password = gsDBPassword
                    For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
                        If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
                            oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
                            Exit For
                        End If
                    Next oPair
                End With
                oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
            Next oTable
            '-- Set database connection info for each table in each subreport
            For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
                For Each oTable In oSubreport.Database.Tables
                    With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
                        .ServerName = gsDBDataSource
                        .UserID = gsDBUserID
                        .Password = gsDBPassword
                        For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
                            If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
                                oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
                                Exit For
                            End If
                        Next oPair
                    End With
                    oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
                Next oTable
            Next oSubreport
    ... alas, it makes no difference.  If we run the report against a database that is different than the one specified with "Set Datasource Location" in Crystal, it fails with nonsense errors

    Thanks for the reply, Ludek.  We have made some breakthroughs, uncovered some Crystal bugs and workarounds, and we're probably 90% there I hope.
    For your first point, unfortunately the information on the Oracle 6550 error was generic, and not much help in our case.  And for your second point, the errors didn't have anything to do with subreports at that time -- the error would manifest itself even in a simple, one-level report.
    However, your third point (pointing us to KB 1553921) helped move us forward quite a bit more.  For the benefit of all, here is a link to that KB article:
    Link: [KB 1553921|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533353333333933323331%7D.do]
    We downloaded the tool referenced there, and pointed it at a couple of our reports.  The bottom line is that the code it generated uses a completely new area of the Crystal Reports .NET API which we had not used before -- in the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer namespace.  Using code based on what that RasConnectionInfo tool generated, we were able gain greater visibility into some of the objects in the API and to uncover what I think qualifies as a genuine bug in Crystal Reports.
    The CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable class exposes a property called QualifiedName, something that isn't exposed by the more commonly-used CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table class.  When changing the data source with our old code referenced above (CrystalDecisions.Shared.ConnectionInfo.SetConnection), I saw that Crystal would actually change the Table.QualifiedName from something like "SCHEMAOWNER.PACKAGENAME.PROCNAME" to just "PROCNAME" (essentially stripping off the schema and package name).  Bad, Crystal...  VERY BAD!  IMHO, Crystal potentially deserves to be swatted on the a** with the proverbial rolled-up newspaper.
    I believe this explains why we were also able to generate errors indicating that field names or tables were not found -- because Crystal had gone and changed the QualifiedName to remove some key info identifying the database object!  So, knowing this and using the code generated by the RasConnectionInfo tool, we were able to work around this bug with code that worked for most of our reports ("most" is the key word here -- more on that in a bit).
    So, first of all, I'll post our new code.  Here is the main area where we loop through all of the tables in the report and subreports:
    '-- Replace each table in the main report with new connection info
    For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables
        oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
        oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
        oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oTable, oNewTable)
    Next oTable
    '-- Replace each table in any subreports with new connection info
    For iLoop = 0 To oCrystalReport.Subreports.Count - 1
        sSubreportName = oCrystalReport.Subreports(iLoop).Name
        For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.GetSubreportDatabase(sSubreportName).Tables
            oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
            oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
            oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.SetTableLocation(sSubreportName, oTable, oNewTable)
        Next oTable
    Next iLoop
    '-- Call VerifyDatabase() to ensure that the tables update properly
    oCrystalReport.VerifyDatabase()

  • Macbook Pro crashes when running on battery

    Hi.
    My Macbook Pro crashes when running in battery. It seems it doesn't happen when connected to the power.
    Is there any way to know if it's a battery malfunction?
    Because Apple changed the motherboard a month ago or so because Nvidia broke. So it could be also the connector to the battery?
    Is there any tests I can run?
    Thanks

    I would take it back to Apple and have them check it. You may have got a replacement logic board with a problem. Apple usually use rebuilt ones.

  • Test Stand crashing when running ESS

    Test Stand is crashing when running ESS and one of the test fails.  I am able to run that same test alone and there are no issues.  I am seeing the following messege in the windows event log.
    Faulting application testexec.exe, version 13.0.0.0, stamp 4a9eca49, faulting module cvirte.dll, version 9.0.0.330, stamp 48dd23b1, debug? 0, fault address 0x000ac355.

    1) What is ESS?
    2) Are you calling a dll from TestStand? If so make sure the settings for passing parameters to the dll are exactly correct or it could cause memory corruption. If not, how exactly is teststand calling the test?

  • Why does system suite pro 12 crash when running file cleaner is running while firefox is installed? If I uninstall firefox then system suite pro 12 won't crash.

    When I downloaded the newest version of firefox system suite pro 12 crashes when running file cleaner after I uninstall firefox system suite pro 12 doesn't crash. I have window 7 premium home edition 64 bit.

    You should know a few things before before getting started:
    1. Registry "cleaners" and "system optimizers" like SystemSuite are very unreliable, cause more problems then they propose to fix, have little to no benefit, and are somewhat of a scam. Running them on a system is almost guaranteeing a crash or hiccups somewhere along the process. running them is never a good idea. all you need is a good, simple, free anti-virus (like Microsoft Security Essentials), and use the built in Windows Utilities to clean and sped up your computer if needed.
    2. This is a Firefox forum, so if you are having a problem with SystemSuite, we might not be able to help you.
    I'll give you a few things you can do to see if this is just a Windows problem:
    Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
    Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].
    Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): [http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/].
    Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.
    Plus, I'd strongly recommend removing systemsuite and any other "optimizers" you might have.

  • Crystal 2011 Crashes when trying to retrieve a report from BW

    I am working with Crystal 2011 v1.  Both the SAP GUI and Business Explorer tools are installed on this workstation.
    There are some Crystal Reports on BW that the client wants to extract.  From Crystal Designer I click on the SAP menu item and select u201COpen Reportu201D.  The SAP Logon window pops up, and I enter the data for the BW system needed.  When I click OK, it will hang for a while, and then Crystal will crash.
    The error that pops up simply says u201Ccrw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to closeu201D.  When I look at the Event Log, all that is listed there is u201CFaulting application crw32.exe, version 14.1.0.295, faulting module librfc32.dll, version 7200.2.71.6717, fault address 0x000597eeu201D.
    Can someone let me know how I would go about determining the issue?

    Hello,
    I moved your post to the Integration Kit forum. Likely a configuration issue.
    Search here on how to config the kit for CR 2011. Or you should have a Support Contract so log into SMP and discuss with a Rep.
    Thank you

  • VS2010 Crystal Report Crashes System when using 'Set DataSource Location..'

    Runtime ASP.NET 3.5
    VS 2010
    Under Database Fields (rt click) try Set DataSource Location... causes VS2010 to crash.
    This is on an imported report from VS2008.  VS2008 has no problem with the report.
    Since this is a ASP.NET 3.5 program the internal property field
    <ResGenToolArchitecture>Managed32Bit</ResGenToolArchitecture>
    has been set in the project in order to allow the code to compile w/out errors.
    What is solution for Crystal Report Set DataSource Location?

    Hi Ken,
    Here's one link on the issue: CRVS2010 RTM: Database Expert / External Component has thrown an exception
    The reason is Old OS's used c:\temp as the default, now you are require to use %user%\temp as your temp folder as well as using the AppData folder for your app. If CR finds c:\temp it uses it and depending on what is in there it can cause Cr to crash, XML files have been know to do this.
    Following MS's new rules on users temp folder should make your app Windows Compliant.
    Thanks again
    Don

  • Displaying a user logo in a Crystal Report dynamically at run time

    Using Visual Studio 2010, CR for VS 2010 on a Win 7 64 bit dev machine.  The software app that I'm creating is a full Windows application (not for the web).  Compiling my app for .NET 4.0.
    Actually, in January, 2012, we purchased the CR 2011 full version and subsequently installed this version for use within the development environment (VS 2010).  References that I use show (for example) CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine version 13.0.2.
    I have hundreds of hours of experience using Crystal Reports within VB, dating back to VB 6 and CR 8.5.  In a software app that I am currently writing, (where I am using VB in VS 2010 and CR 13.0.2), the Graphic Location formula within a picture "placeholder" is not working.  I am using a parameter called pUserLogo to set the path to the graphic location at runtime, but to no avail.  The picture that I'm using as a placeholder is not changing at runtime.
    I have scoured the internet for solutions to this problem.  I have also attempted to upgrade both the CR for VS 2010 (a.k.a. CR developer version) as well as the CR runtimes (both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions), but this has not helped.  The picture is never replaced at runtime while working within the IDE (i.e. running the app from VS, nor after compiling and then running as a full-blown application).  I have also tested this on another development machine.
    I eventually gave up trying to use the Graphic Location formula method, and instead went with a method that uses a DataSet within a DataTable to set the image (of an image column) as posted online.  This method actually works within the IDE.  However, if I then install my app to another PC (Win 7 64 bit as well), the CR crashes the app.  After extensive searching online, I found that referencing a DataSet in VS 2010 inside a CR, led to many other issues, such as having to use the 'useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true' statement in app.config.
    Further, I read that using a DataSet within CR in VS 2010 meant that you had to compile for .NET 3.5, rather than 4.0.
    Eventually, I created restore points on both PC's and then upgraded everything to 13.0.6.  But this did not help either method.
    All I am trying to do is 1) let the user of my app select an image before the report is created, and then 2) display that image on the report.  This particular report doesn't even need to reference any database, as all of the numbers that I'm displaying in the report are simply parameters that I update during the report's creation.  It is a very simple, straight-forward report.
    I would be happy to setup a GotoMeeting so that someone at support could see what is happening and could also review the code.  There are many more details, such as what errors I've encountered along the way, and what web sites I've been to in researching these issues, but I will leave that for continued discussion.
    Regards,
    Dominic

    An older discussion on this issue can be found at:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2548723/unable-to-programically-set-graphic-location-in-crystal-report
    Since I couldn't get this method to work, I then tried the method as described here:
    http://adf.ly/91637/banner/aspalliance.com/1097_Importing_Dynamic_Images_to_the_Crystal_Report_without_Database_Overhead_using_Visual_Studio_2005.all
    The second method, which uses a DataSet within a DataTable as described in the above link, does work, and it correctly displays the image, but only in the IDE.  When tested on a "client" machine, opening the report causes my app to crash, with no exception or error message except for the "...has caused the application to stop working".  Previously, before introducing said DataSet into the report, the report loads and displays fine on my client machine.
    Further research led me to these two threads concerning the usage of the crdb_adoplus.dll which is necessary when using a DataSet in VS 2010 with CR.  It seems that the folder dotnet1 is not accessible, and thus there are workarounds for this issue.  See these two threads, below:
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/1802638
    http://scn.sap.com/thread/1665437
    Again, I followed the recommendations that I needed to set the Startup flag 'useLegacyV2RuntimeActivationPolicy=true' in app.config.  However, the workaround where I should target .NET 3.5 instead of .NET 4.0 is not reallly an acceptable option to me (and I don't know if it will work, anyway).
    So my question remains; Can anyone please tell me if A) They have any issues using the "picture placeholder/formula" method for loading a picture at runtime, and/or B) If there is a fix for the DataSet issues apparently inherent in using VS 2010 with a Crystal Report?
    Thanks in advance, for your reply.
    Regards,
    Dominic

  • Crystal Reports crashes

    I am running Crystal Reports using the Universal Web Service Connector and when I drag a field from the "Field Explorer" panel onto the report I or I select "Template Field Object" the Crystal Reports application crashes.  Can some one help me?

    Hi,
    Try with this:
    Following settings are to be made:
    Right click on the task bar.
    Select Tile Windows Horizontally option.
    Check whether desired window can be seen.
    Selecting Cascade Windows option might be needed.
    This will force all the Windows to anchor themselves in a new location on the current monitor.
    Note: It might require reinstallation of video drivers.
    If this does not help try to switch on primary monitor as you are using dual monitor.
    Regards,
    Shweta
