Crystal report IX migration to BO-XI- Very very urgent

Post Author: Pranav.Sharma
CA Forum: JAVA
Need help in migration from Crystal Report IX to BO-XI.
Currently we are using CR IX and Java SDK to access reports from J2ee application. These reports reside on remote server where we have shared access to that directory.
We are accessing these reports through our j2ee application.Can anyone please elaborate whether we can use same SDK here with slight change in code probably in authentication related to CMS etc and calling mechanism or we have to go for BO java SDK alltogether. Is anything we are missing here?
Can anyone please  help as  we have to complete migration in 1-2 days.

If this is still an issue please re-post your question To the Business Objects forum or purchase a support case on line and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly.

  • Crystal Report Server Migration 10.5 to 2008

    Hi,
    is there any guide line to migrate crystal report server 10.5 to crystal report 2008,
    (as  per my understanding Crystal report 10.5 supports 64 bit and crystal 2008 also support 64 but use 32 bit. and i am to worry about this)

    Please post your question in the correct forum. This forum is for Interactive Analysis not for Crystal Report Server. Hence I am closing this thread

  • Detail sections not displayed with Crystal Reports 2010 Runtime (SP1 also)

    I have migrated a VB app from RDC 9 to Crystal Reports 2010 and I'm experiencing a very strange issue.
    In a report with 6 nested groups, the detail part is splitted in 7 section, and the whole detail has the "keep together" flag activated. At runtime, some detail sections are not displayed. There is no suppress condition on the detail section. The missed sections are those near bottom of the page. I suppose that when there is no room to print the section on the page and it should go on the next page, Crystal forget to display it.
    I exported the report in Crystal format and reopened with Crystal Reports designer and the missed section are displayed.
    The same report is displayed correctly using RDC 9.
    If I show the group tree and select the missed section group, the section is correctly displayed on a separate preview page.
    I've some screenshot to better demonstrate the problem.
    I hoped SP1 will resolve the issue but unfortunately it didn't.

    This issue has been escalated for a fix. tracking number is TE5000325237. For anyone wanting to attach to this thread with a similar issue, please note the behavior as decribed in the TE below. If the description does not match your issue exactly, please create a new thread.
    Description - Steps to Reproduce;
    1) Run the report in the CR 2008 designer - note the second page
    2) Run the report in VS2010 app using CRVS2010 SP1:
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = <path to report>
    3) Look at page 2 and compare to page 2 from the CR2008 designer (also, see attached compare.jpg file which is a screen shot of both views) - note missing group on page 2
    4) Export to PDF, DO, RTF - same issue
    5) Print to printer using the viewer print button - same issue
    6) Same issue print to printer using code:
    Dim crReportDocument As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
    crReportDocument.Load("C:\Crystal\Test\Forum tests\Alberto missing detail section\Crystal Issue\Distinta di Taglio CR 2010.rpt")
    crReportDocument.PrintToPrinter(1, 1, 1, 2)
            MsgBox("Done")
    7) Same issue print to printer using code:
    Dim crReportDocument As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument()
    crReportDocument.Load("C:\Crystal\Test\Forum tests\Alberto missing detail section\Crystal Issue\Distinta di Taglio CR 2010.rpt")
    Dim rcd As ISCDReportClientDocument
            rcd = crReportDocument.ReportClientDocument
            rcd.PrintOutputController.PrintReport()
            MsgBox("Done")
    8) Export to RPT file format - view this export in the CR2008 Designer - report looks as it should
    9) Add report to the .NET2010 project. trying to view the repor tin the .NET2010 IDE results in .NET crashing.

  • Crystal Reports Server 2008 trial install - unable to log into CMC

    Hi,
    I have been looking for a way to host my existing Crystal XI reports on our in house web application rather than using a thick client application with cview. I was told that the options were Crystal Reports Server 2008 or Visual Studio 2008. I have downloaded trials of both and am currently testing.
    After installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, including MySQL DB and Tomcat web server, i am unable to log into any of the applications with the error that:
    Error: Server SCOTTPC:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
    After seeing this i checked the services on my test machine and found that the Server Intelligence Agent was not started. So i tried starting it and recieved the generic windows message:
    Service on local computer started and them stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do ... etc
    After multiple reboots and reinstalls i am still unable to use any aspect of the application as i am unable to log into the CMC as the server is down. Now i am new to Crystal reports and web servers so have a very limited knowledge of whats going on here - i am primarily a DBA. From what i can tell MySQL does not even appear to be installed but i cannot be sure.
    Any suggestions?

    ok... after research it seems a DSN has not been created.
    Also when trying to start the server intelligence service i see the following in the application event viewer:
    [Node Name: SCOTTPC]
    [User Name: SYSTEM]
    Server Intelligence Agent has failed to initialize because the bootstrap file C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\_boe_SCOTTPC.bootstrap is missing information about the CMS cluster. Please restore your bootstrap file from your backup.
    i have recreated the bootstrap file but still get the same error.
    i have SQL Server 2005 installed on this rig as well - could this be causing the issue? Would it be better for me to integrate this to SQL Server rather than using the MySQL DB that comes with Crystal server 2008?

  • Failue to load database informaiton in Crystal Reports XI - Foxpro table

    I am using Crystal Reports XI and have run into a very unusual problem.  I have a report (actually several reports) that pull data from a Foxpro .dbf table.  The table and the reports are located on a shared drive.  There are 4 end users, all of whom have accesss to the shared drive and are running Crystal Reports XI.  For three of the users, everything works perfectly.  However, when the fourth user attempts to refresh the data on any of the reports, they receive the following error:
    Prompting failed with the following error message: ".
    Error Source:  Error Code: 0x80004005
    When you press OK, you get an additional message:
    Failed to Load Database information.
    I have attempted to Set Datasource location from this machine, but it gives this error every time.  Does anyone know why this might be happening on just one machine, while it runs perfectly fine on several others?
    The machine having problems is running Crystal reports 11.0.0.1282 under MS Windows XP Pro SP 2.  The other machines are also running Crystal 11.0.0.1282 (one is running 11.0.0.1994) under Windows XP Pro SP2.
    If you need any other information, let me know.  Any input or assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hi Patrick,
    What happens if one of the other users closes the report and Crystal Reports and then the person on the problem machine opens the report. Does the report open without any error messages?
    Also, are you able to create new reports from that machine when all other users are using the same Foxpro file?
    This will help us understand the issue better.
    Cheers!

  • Crystal Report XI & ReportViewerBean

    hi..
    I would like to know if ReportViewerBean is compatible with crystal report XI to print the various reports.
    I wanted to use Swings & ReportViewerBean on the linux (instead of JRC as my application is not web-based) for various reports management. Is this approach possible?

    Hello,
    If you're asking how to pass database logon information to a Crystal Report at runtime there's a kbase article on the Business Objects support site with code examples.  Here's the link:
    <http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/KanisaSupportSite/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=c2010371>
    This kbase article references the Crystal Reports .NET object model - not the Report Designer Component (RDC) object model.  The RDC was never tested in VS.NET and therefore it's not supported in that environment.  Additionally, the RDC has been retired with the release of CR2008 so you can not move to a newer release of Crystal Reports without migrating your code to use the CR.NET object model.  Now would be a good time to switch.
    If you're looking for different information please clarify your question.

  • Migrate from Crystal Reports to XMLP?

    We have a bunch of reports implemented with Crystal Reports and we are planning to migrate those reports to XMLP. Is that possible? Dose anyone has the same problem? What is the general process? I have no experience about XMLP before.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for your reply, Yes, for the data we can utilize the query from the Crystal report. But after Crystal Reports get the data, it can do extra things on the data, such as applying some functions on the raw data. It can also define some Formula Fields out of the data. the Formula Fields can be placed in the reports too. The defination of Formula Fields can be very complicated involves a lots of operators include +, *, IF/THEN/ELSE, SELECT CASE, AND/OR, and so on, there could be some pre-defined function in also, here is one example of Formula Field definition(Notice that the definition can contain other Formula Field):
    Dim EndDateCounted As DateTime
    Dim StartDateCounted As DateTime
    Dim Diff As Number
    Dim EndDateParam As DateTime
    Dim SummaryField As Number
    If {@OnlineTime} <> 0 then
    EndDateParam = DateAdd("s", 86399,{?EndDate})
    EndDateCounted = dateadd("s",{timeDim.SECONDOFDAY} + {agentEvent.EVENTDURATION}, {dateDim.FULLDATE})
    If {dateDim.FULLDATE}>= {?StartDate} and EndDateCounted <= EndDateParam then
    SummaryField = {@OnlineTime}
    Else
    If EndDateCounted > EndDateParam Then
    EndDateCounted = EndDateParam
    Else
    EndDateCounted = EndDateCounted
    End If
    If {dateDim.FULLDATE} < {?StartDate} Then
    StartDateCounted = CDateTime({?StartDate})
    Else
    StartDateCounted = dateadd ("s",{timeDim.SECONDOFDAY},{dateDim.FULLDATE})
    End If
    SummaryField = datediff ("s", StartDateCounted, EndDateCounted)
    End If
    Formula = SummaryField
    End If
    How can we achive the same thing using XMLP? Since Formula Fields are widely used in our reports. You said the data should be the simplest, dose it mean we calulate whatever we need in the query/extraction and feed the RTF with the final result using XML?
    Thanks,

  • Migrating from Crystal Reports Charts using TopN and "Other" to Reporting Services

    I am currently migrating several Crystal Reports that have charts.  The chart series is set to use the TopN values in a count, and combine the rest of the series into one series titled "Other".  I see how to filter the chart using TopN, however I need to still show the rest of the data grouped as "Other".  I think the solution I need is to create a group expression that uses some sort of IIF function to create the "Other" group, but I haven't found a function that I can use to get the results I need.  Any ideas?
    Scott

    We were looking at report deployment options and evaluating SSRS vs Crystal Report Server.  There were several reasons we decided to go with SSRS:
    Cascading Parameters
    Ability to use multiple data sets in one report
    SSRS seemed more user-friendly than CRS
    There were a few other considerations I can remember now, but the final reason was price.  My company already had the licenses for SQL Server.  However, even if that was not a consideration I still would have gone with SSRS.
    Hope this info helps.

  • Print preview using crystal report in SAP B1 is very slow.

    Hi,
    Basically Crystal report run with SQL statement, I would suggest to do well performance tuning on SQL query / Store Procedure.
    Structure your query in DBA manner that will make some how faster such as use ( inner join, less condition,...)..
    also if it simple query then use Command in Crystal report rather store Procedure..that make some how Faster your report.
    Thanks

  • Crystal Report 10.5 very slow (30 minutes) to display

    crystal report 10.5 in vs 2008 display at extremely very slow speed in development server and production server. i have loaded a dataset as the datasource for the report. i also checked the code in debugging mode to know where the delay is but found out it is not from the code as the code executes to the end in less than a minute but the browser keeps loading for several minute before display.
    please kindly help to resolve this issue.

    With CR 2008:
    For OLE DB then use:
    MS SQL 2005 - OLE DB Provider
    MS SQL 2008 - SQL Native 10
    For ODBC then use:
    MS SQL 2005 - SQL Native
    MS SQL 2008 - SQL Native 10
    Once you have a report created, you can use the following code at runtime:
    Public Sub New()
            'This call is required by the Windows Form Designer.
            InitializeComponent()
            'Add any initialization after the InitializeComponent() call
            'Create an instance of the strongly-typed report object
            crReportDocument = New CrystalReport1()
            'Setup the connection information structure to be used
            'to log onto the datasource for the report.
            crConnectionInfo = New ConnectionInfo()
            With crConnectionInfo
                .ServerName = "escalade"    'physical server name
                .DatabaseName = "Pubs"
                .UserID = "sa"
                .Password = "admin"
            End With
            'Get the table information from the report
            crDatabase = crReportDocument.Database
            crTables = crDatabase.Tables
            'Loop through all tables in the report and apply the connection
            'information for each table.
            For Each crTable In crTables
                crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo
                crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo
                crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo)
            Next
            'Set the viewer to the report object to be previewed.
            CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = crReportDocument
    End Sub
    And be careful with subreports. If you use the same connection type as for the main report the subreport should piggy back on the main connection. If you use a different connection, you'll have to use code to connect the subreports:
    //loop through all the sections to find all the report objects
    foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Section crSection in crSections)
        crReportObjects = crSection.ReportObjects;
        //loop through all the report objects to find all the subreports
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportObject crReportObject in crReportObjects)
            if (crReportObject.Kind == ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject)
                //you will need to typecast the reportobject to a subreport
                //object once you find it
                crSubreportObject = (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.SubreportObject)crReportObject;
                string mysubname = crSubreportObject.SubreportName.ToString();
                //open the subreport object
                crSubreportDocument = crSubreportObject.OpenSubreport(crSubreportObject.SubreportName);
                //set the database and tables objects to work with the subreport
                crDatabase = crSubreportDocument.Database;
                crTables = crDatabase.Tables;
                tableIndex = 0;
                bool SecureDB;
                //loop through all the tables in the subreport and
                //set up the connection info and apply it to the tables
                foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table crTable in crTables)
                {   // check if integrated security is enabled
                    SecureDB = crSubreportDocument.Database.Tables[tableIndex].LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo.IntegratedSecurity;
                    string TableName = crTable.Name.ToString();
                    tableIndex++;
                    crConnectioninfo.ServerName = "VMW2K8CRSE2K8";
                    //if (!SecureDB)
                        crConnectioninfo.UserID = "sa";
                        crConnectioninfo.Password = "PW";
                        crConnectioninfo.DatabaseName = "QTYLTD";
                        crTableLogOnInfo = crTable.LogOnInfo;
                        crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectioninfo;
                        crTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);

  • Crystal report with prompts takes very long time to open in infoview BOXI3.

    Crystal report with prompts takes very long time to open in infoview BOXI3.1?
    Is there any way to increase the performance.

    Ramsudhakar,
    There are several items that could cause these slow down problems. Without knowing more about the way your environment is setup, I could cause more problems, by giving out performance tips. You would need to be more specific in your post.
    What we know. BOXI3.1
    What we don't know.
    O/S

    Hardware Spec's

  • Crystal Reports Moved from one file server to another - very slow opening

    Hello,
    I am new here, and I am in need of a solution. If I am not in the correct forum, please advise.
    Our crystal reports were moved from an old file server to a new file server.  Once the old file server was shut down the reports opened very slow in Designer and in our 3rd party application.  Our server team determined that the reports are still attempting to connect to the old file server.  If the old file server is brought online or dns is changed to reflect another machine that it can make a connection to, it opens with no delay.
    For some reason, not every report is affected.  Most of the reports are Crystal 8.5, but I have some Crystal XI reports that do the same thing.  I can't find any reference in the reports to any file server/location....
    I need to resolve this issue on the Crystal 8.5 version due to the application that we are running.
    Is there a way to fix this other than to recreate the reports (I have over 400 of them)?
    Any assistance or advice is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Nancy

    Hi Nancy,
    The server info still needs to be updated. Are you setting location for each subreport also?
    Possibly this registry key will help, I only have CR 2008 installed so you'll have adjust for what ever you are using:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions - VerifyStoredProceduresOnFirstRefresh = No
    and
    VerifyStoredProceduresOnSetLocation = No
    And
    VerifyWhenDBDriverUpgraded = No
    And
    ViewOutOfPlaceSubreports = No
    Close CR designer before making any changes. And the usual warning about modifying the registry.
    Thank you

  • Migrating reports from MS SQL reporting services to BO(Crystal reports)

    Hi Folks,
    I am looking to migrate my existing reporting application to BOXI and crystal reportsXI. The current reports application is build on Microsoft SQL reporting services platform. I have thousands of reports in the application and am looking for a solution to migrate all these existing reports into BO compatible format, i.e., .rpt format.
    Anyone with previous experience of this kind of migration/conversion for suggestions on the quickest and most cost effective solution.
    I do not want to be developing all the reports again on BO.
    Appreciate any kind of assistance on this.
    Thanks,
    Shetty.

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for the reply.
    I searched the forum and found the link to [url|http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2SP2/en/en/BOE_SDK/boesdk_java_dg_doc/doc/boesdk_java_dg/URLreporting_new.html] which specifies the process to use URL Reporting for Crystal Reports . But to implement this we have to change the architecture of our existing application as presently we are directly accessing the report in URL to run the report. I was not able to found any solution that implements this architecture.
    Does Business Object Enterprise 11.5 still supports this architecture?
    If we use the architecture specified in the above URL for URL Reporting for Crystal Reports  then how we can migrate all our reports to BOE 11.5? We have to use the Publish Wizard for that, to get the ids for our reports?
    There was a parameter APSTOKEN how can we get a token. Can it be a static token that can be used by all the users to access the reports?
    Thanks!

  • Migrating Crystal reports to Bi Ondemand reports

    Can any one guide me in detail  in handling the below requirement
    The idea is to convert reports from Crystal report
    (using SQL Server as a data source) to SAP BI OnDemand report
    (using Salesforce objects as a data source).
    There is another project that is taking care of migrating the data from SQL Server to Salesforce
    (along with other functionalities).

    Hello,
    bi.ondemand.com uses Crystal Reports - it does not have its own type of reports.
    So if you already have rpt files that use sql server, it should just be a matter of changing the datasource to use salesforce.com using the database expert inside the crytal reports designer.
    Changing from sql server to salesforce.com is likely quite a large change though so I am not sure the database expert will be able to help you.  You may need to re-write the reports.
    Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
