Crystal Report on BW BEx Query via MDX in SAP Portal

Hi!
We need to display a CR in the Portal. The CR is based on a MDx BW Query. To create and display the report is no problem. Even saving back to BW is working fine.
But how do we get this CR displayed in the EP?
Thanks in advance
Jörn

Hi,
Should only the BO SAP Integration Kit iViews / URL iViews be used and are the Crystal Report iViews (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/36/d4a94076b63713e10000000a155106/frameset.htm) obsolete?
Yes as the Crystal Report iView are based on an older version
If we export the Crystal reports to SAP BW, is it possible to call them with BEx iViews like the xCelsius reports? (Like with DASHBOARD=<report name> for xCelsius)
From where can we get the Crystal Report ID, if we export them to SAP BW?
You should use the BusinessObjects Integration Kit iView template for Crystal REports and the ID can be retrieved from the CMC

  • How to bulid a Crystal report based on Bex query as source

    Hi,
    I have requirment where the end user wants the query in Crystal.I built a Bex query in Bex query designer.I would like to know how to create crystal report based onthe Bex query.
    Thanks,

    Hi
    The Crystal Reports are integrated with BW such that the query built in BW can be used to bulit Crystal Reports on them.
    After launching the Crystal Reports, you will have and option : "Open reprt from BW" whcih will help you in opening the BW Queries and create Crystal Reports.
    Also in the Menu there is an optin SAP-->Create New Report from a Query

  • Two problmes between  Crystal Reports 2008 and Bex Query

    Hi Gurus.
    I have two problems with Crystal Reports 2008 when It obtains data from a Bex Query (SAP MDX query connection).
    1)     I have defined some Parameters Fields using the follow options:
    Type: String
    List of Values: Dynamic
    Value Options Level1:
                         Show on (Viewer) Panel :Editable
                          Prompt text: <text>
                          Sort Order: Ascending by value
                          Prompt With description Only : False
                          Optional Prompt: True
                          Allow multiple values: True
                          Allow discrete values: True
                          Allow range values: False
    When I execute the report with the client of Crystal Reports 2008 (the developer tool), in the initial screen shows a list box where I can select the values from the left box and add it to the left box (as a usually filter). When the number of options (LOV) is more than  the maximum of the system, I have a input box bellow the list box, where I can insert any value (manually) and a button to insert it into the left box. When I publish the Report in the infoview, this filter is modified and the input box where I can introduce manually values is not showed and I can insert only the values showed in the list box, it causes that I can`t select a lot of values that is in the master data of SAP BW, because they arenu2019t listed in the list box.
    There is any option to ability this option in the infoview.
    2)     My Bex query, have a date filter with variable in the restricted key figures, when I execute a Crystal Reports, the infoview (and the Crystal Reports 2008 designer) ask me 2 times the same date, first only the date and second the date and the rest of parameters (introduced in the report of Crystal Reports).
    Why I need insert the date 2 times? How can I modify the Crystal Report for ask me only one time all the parameters?.
    Thanks.

    Hi Abhilash.
    Thank you for your information.
    1) Yes, the parameters are created in the Crystal Reports designer. I have created the parameters in the Crystal Report because I use the same Bex Query to create some Crystal Report, in other case, I will need create some Bex Query.
    2)The Bex query has the date filters and I have created some filters in Crystal Reports designer, the date filter from the Bex query is created automatically in the Crystal Report Designer but I don't use it, I haven't created it anytime. I use my filters only in the record selection. The date filters from the Bex query is showed as Static, and I can`t delete it, if I modify the parameter to dynamic or static with values, at first step ask me again static without values and the second step of the report execution ask me the parameter as I have defined in Crystal Reports Designer, my parameters fields are dynamic. A lot of reports have subreport, but I have created one of them without subreport (to trial) and the Crystal Reports ask me the date filters at first execution, and when I insert the date filters, in the second step, ask me the date filters again and my parameters fields again.
    Thank you again.

  • Can I create one single  crystal report using 2 bex queries

    HI all,
    I have 2 bex queries and has to develope a single crystal report .Is it possible???? If so, than how to connect two bex queries  and develope  one single crystal report.Any other option is also fine. I mean ....no need to use crystal..( I can go for one single webi..).But need to know the approach ...
    or else...can I create universe on 1 bex and other universe on other bex ..and go for one single webi report..
    Only problem is client is particular about one single report(either crystal or webi)
    if i go for webi ...I know we can use link universe option but I dont know whether it works fro OLAP environment.
    Please let me know if I can link OLAp universes and go for 1 single webi report.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mahathi

    You can use either CR or WebI.
    In CR Designer create the report using the SAP toolbar (Create report from query) based on the 1st BEx query. Then use the Database expert (first entry in the Database menu) to add an additional connection to your 2nd BEx query (+Create new connection->SAP BW DX query). You can then join the results of the 2 different queries in the database expert also.. Please note that if you do NOT want to join the result sets, then it is more efficient to use subreports. Create two different CR reports, each based on one of the BEx queries and then use one of those as your main report and insert the other one into it as subreport. Once embedded you do not have to keep the separate .rpt file of your second report.
    For Webi you must build 2 universes, each based on one of your BEx queries. In your report you can add multiple queries based on different universes. You can join the results sets here by using the Merge dimensions button in the report editor area.
    Regards,
    Stratos
    PS; Keep in mind that joining a large number of rows at report level (either in CR or WebI) can cause performance problems. If this is your requirement, how many rows do you expect to get back from each individual query?

  • Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down

    Hello,
    We have a BO report on Bex query, Not on universe, we have a Hierarchy for Cost Element Group, and we are expecting the Drill down functionality for that in BO report, but it does not.
    Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down
    Any pointers how to do it please
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
    WebI reports on BEx source don't use same Drill feature as other sources, it's replaced by expland/collapse of hierarchy nodes (documented in WebI user guide in § "24.1 Drill defined"). This means you have to create query which selects all hierarchy sub-tree you plan on exploring later in report, otherwise if no data is available under a node there will be no '+/-' sign to visit this part of tree.
    You could try first to select "All members" from hierarchy in QueryPanel and see if behavior in report suits your needs. Then you should restrict hierarchy member selection to what's really needed to avoid performance issues.

  • Execute BEX Query via Function Module

    Hi Mates,
    I want to execute BEX query via a Function Module.
    Also i want to explore whether the input parameters of the query can be retrieved from a Database Table.
    Please let me know how this can be achieved.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Hrishikesh

    Hi Hrishikesh,
    Assuming you have the necessary ABAP knowledge, you will have to code the exit in the include ZXRSRU01 under I_STEP = 1 (this is because you want to prepopulate your parameters from the values in your DB table).
    Your DB table has Key1, Key2 and Your field as the three fields and you want to read the value of 'Your Field' based on your keys Key1 and Key2.
    So, the code will be something like -
    when 'Your variable'.
    if i_step = 1.
    select single 'Your field' from 'Your DB table' into lv_your_field where Key 1 = 'X' and
                                                                                                                   key 2 = 'Y'.
    clear l_s_range.
    l_s_range - low = lv_your_field.
    l_s_range-sign = 'I'.
    l_s_range-opt = 'EQ'.
    append l_s_range to e_t_range.
    endif.

  • Pass parameter to Bex Query via Query String

    Hello,
    I am trying to pass a parameter into a Bex Query from a 7.0 portal. I created a Bex query iView and I have tried various permutations with the Bex Query String property of the iview but nothing seems to work. The query runs but the parameter is not passed in.
    For example I have tried: cmd=ldoc&TEMPLATE=Z_TEMPLATE&QUERY=Z_QUERY&Z_QUERY_VARIABLE=12345678 and several other variations of doing this.
    Thanks,
    Bert

    Hi Satish,
    I had already tried that but it did not work.
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Report based on BEX 3.X query + Hierachies

    Hi,
    I have built a Crystal Report (2008) based on BW Bex 3.5 query.
    The report has a hierachical group based on a hierachy
    similar to the strategy used in
    http://blog.mastering-sap-and-businessobjects.com/2009/07/10/crystal-reports-and-sap-bw-hierarchies--conditional-formatting-part-2.aspx
    Certain sub and parent nodes in the hierachy have suppressed to make sure the report is formatted correctly.
    The user running the report does NOT have the option of choosing the level of nodes to hide  or show.
    At this point in time the report is showing the correct nodes, however there is a concern that once users start re-arranging the hierchies and adding nodes that the reports will have to be maintained. (Which I think is a catch 22 situation)
    Does anyone have another suggestion how to have the reports be "Dynamic" (based on the hierachy) and still not have the danger of the hierachies changing and affecting the Reports
    (I certainly can think of no other ways EXCEPT creating a structure in the BW Query - which means that in any case if the hierachies changes, the BW Query will have to be maintained)
    Kind Regards,
    Nicole

    Hi,
    Crystal Reports is using a parent child relationship which means the complete hierarchy is dynamic and in case your hierarchy is changing on the BW side Crystal Reports will pick up those changes automatically - assuming we talking about additional levels or levels been removed.

  • Crystal Report Crash using BW query

    Hi All,
    Crystal Reports are created with SAP BW query
    CR application gets opened without any problem.
    When the report is opened the prompts are displayed correctly.
    When the values are entered to parameters and report is run the Runtime error is flashed , when clicked on OK another error appears saying "CRW32.exe has encountered an problem and needs to be closed" which terminates the application.
    This problem happens occasionally and nothing specifically can be said when it happens.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Sheeba

    Hello Sheeba,
    You can attempt to enable tracing on the driver used to access the data.  This can be done in the registry on your CRW machine under the following key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\SAP
    You have to choose whether to enable tracing on the BW query driver vs. BW MDX Query driver sub-key under SAP based on how you connect in Crystal Reports.
    Also you must add a string value in SAP key called TraceDir and define the folder where the trace file will reside.

  • How to refresh report data from bex query (BW) with parameters

    Hello,
    i hope someone can help me with my problem. I developed an desktop application, which loads (actual state) a report from the local file system. After setting the parameters, the report should be saved as a pdf file. Loading the report into the ReportDocument object and exporting the report to a pdf works fine. Setting parameters (without) a data source too. But now i can't refresh the data in the reports given by a parameter (e.g. time).
    I know there are two methods to do this. Push and pull. I want to use the pull method, cause my program should exports different reports and i think it should be easier to handle this with this method.
    On my development environment is installed:
    Crystal Reports SP 4
    MS Visual Studio 2010 (coding with C# .NET)
    .NET Framework 4
    SAP Integration Kit
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 SP1 - SDK libraries
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 SP1 - Runtime 32 bit
    SAP GUI 7.20 (Compilation 3)
    The bex query is enabled for external use from ole db for olap. Do i have forget something else?
    Here is a part of my code:
            public ReportDocument doPullMethod(ReportDocument crReportDocument)
                TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = crReportDocument.Database.Tables[0].LogOnInfo;
                ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo;
                crConnectionInfo.Password = "*******";
                crReportDocument.SetDatabaseLogon(crConnectionInfo.UserID, crConnectionInfo.Password, crConnectionInfo.ServerName, crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName);
                MessageBox.Show(crConnectionInfo.UserID + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.Password + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.ServerName + " _ " + crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName);
                for (int i = 0; i < crReportDocument.Database.Tables.Count; i++)
                //    crReportDocument.Database.Tables<i>.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
                    MessageBox.Show("TestConnectivity: " + crReportDocument.Database.Tables<i>.TestConnectivity());
                return crReportDocument;
    Cause i'm using only one bex query, i know that the SetDatabaseLogon()-method should bring me the same result as the ApplyLogOnInfo()-method SAP Crystal Reports .NET API Guide
    Exists an order which i have to follow? First setting parameter and then set the login informations or backwards? Cause i also get the "Failed to load database information" exception, when i set a parameter and TestConnectivity() returns false.
    Do i have to activate the data refresh manually or will be the data refreshed automatically on export?
    I searched in this forum (.NET - SAP Crystal Reports) and found only this thread which according to my problem:
    [Re: Crystal report connects to BW RFC by .NET;
    The question is assumed answered.

    Hi Robin,
    There is a SAP Integration Kit you need to allow CR to connect to SAP data sources. There isn't one for CR for VS 2010 and I don't believe there are the various extra options available in the SDK, no SDK access to the DB driver.
    Possibly, Check the other post, download and run the app Ludek suggested, it will get the connection info for your report using RAS and then plug the output code into your code and see if that works. It should show the crdb_olap dll is the database driver, assuming that is the connection method you used when designing the report.
    Pay attention to the database dll in the output from that app and verify it is on your PC in: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
    If that doesn't work then.....
    The problem is, CR for VS 2010 ( version 13 ) is the runtime for BOE 4.0  ( version 14 ) which includes the Integration kit drivers on install. There is no standalone install of the database drivers. They are installed with CR 2011, which doesn't have a SDK included, CR for VS 2010 is also the Developer version for CR 2011.
    Because of the "custom" connection requirements there is no SDK or access to the BW datasource extra options....
    Also note that CR 2008 is not supported in VS 2010, it should work though as long as you stick to 2.0 -> 3.5 framework, no 4.0 Framework support in CR 2008 or BOE 4.0
    You may want to try the SAP Integration Kit forum to see if anyone has been able to make this work or contact your account manager to verify if there are any plans to do what you are doing....

  • Crystal Report based on BW query

    We create a Crystal report (CR 2008 ) with the main report based on on Bex Query on an SAP BW Server based on an infocube and a sub report based on an SQL relational table (Table, cluster or SAP Functions) on the same SAP BW Server. The execution is Ok on the Crystal Client but when we deploy on the InfoView portal (and on CMC) we have only one connection defined (it seems it detect that it was the same server name and keep only the first connection).

    We don't use Universe (For Bex Query SAP don't recommande it) . The queries are directly embeded in the crystal report

  • Crystal Report with multiple BEX queries

    I have a Crystal Report that uses 6 different BEX queries.  The report needs to display the results from each query, there is no need to join these queries.  The Crystal Report is using subreports and displaying the data one BEX query after another.
    The issue I have is that these BEX queries all have the same mandatory variable.  This is causing Crystal to prompt the user to enter the same variable filter once per BEX query.
    If we change the BEX queries so only the first BEX query has a variable and use Crystal to filter the other 5, the performance is unacceptable.  My guess is the other 5 queries are experiencing client side filtering instead of the filter being passed down to BW.
    Is there a way to have multiple BW queries with the same variable and have Crystal only prompt the user to enter input one time?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
    My understanding of the issue is :
    --You have 6 Bex queries and are displying on after the other becaused you have inserted all these queries as sub report.
    --All your Bex queries are having same parameter / prompt / variable which will take user input and filter the data.
    --Now the report is prompting the user to enter prompt / variable 6 times.  You are looking for an option to proimpt only ones insted of 6 tiems.
    If I understood correctly follow the method to link sub reports to grab the parameter value form main report parameter :
    Right click on sub report go in Change Subreport Links, select main reort prompt / varieable and then select sub report prompt / parameter / variable.
    Do the same for all your sub reports.  This will eliminate asking / prompting the same parameter value several times.
    Thanks,
    Sastry

  • Crystal Report for Enterprise  Bex Text Variables

    Hi
    We are on Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0, Version 14.02.2.
    We have a text variable for cost center in our column heading that displays "Cost Center XXXX Budget" where XXXX is populated by the text variable.
    When this column element displays in the Crystal report it displays as "Not assigned".
    When I use the exact same query in Webby the cost center displays exactly as expected.
    Has anyone exeprienced a similar problem?
    Thanks
    Ian

    Hi,
    BEx Text Variables are fully supported by the BI 4.0 client tools, so this 'should' work
    I'd recommend that you contact Support and log an OSS incident.  We recently corrected a few issues with text variables in webi, so -at a guess- a fix needs to be ported to CR4E

  • List all Published Crystal Reports and the BW Query they are created upon

    Hello All
    I am wanting to create a list of all Crystal Reports files that have been published to BW and report the the Crystal Reports Name and the BW Query (datasource) name.
    At the moment I am opening up each report in crystal and via database expert determining which BW query is used. I have about 120 reports I need to do this for and I would really appreciate if there is an easy way to extract this data.
    Even if I am just provided with table names where this linkage is stored would be great as I can then create the report myself.
    The Format of the report is really simple
    Crystal Report (Doc. Name)................Crystal Report Data Source Name (BW query)
    I hope someone can help.
    Thanks
    Phillip

    hi,
    the information is available in transaction /crystal/rptadmin.
    another option is to use the query tool to ask the system database.
