Crystal Report Server Backup and Recovery problem

I have a problem on the backup Crystal Report Server
My Environment:
- Windows Server 2003
- Crystal Report Server XI R2
- MySQL Database for Central Management Server System Tables(Default setting in the Crystal Report Server installation)
- Tomcat (Default seting in the Crystal Report Server installation)
I stop the Central Management Server before backup.
I run the following command to backup Central Management Server System Table:
mysqldump --user=root --password=pass1234 boe115 > C:\CMSBackup.sql
It is ok to generate CMSBackup.sql file.
After backup, I re-install the Crystal Report Server and run the following command to restore Central Management Server System Table:
mysqldump --user=root --password=pass1234 boe115 < C"\CMSBackup.sql
After finish the restore process, I cannot found my setting on the Central Management Server System.
Any backup step i missed ?

I had set Users Rights, Folders setting, Group setting, and Windows Authentication information in the Crystal Report Server
Also I had upload reports to Crystal Report Server, but i cannot found above information after I restore the MySQL CMS database.
Any step i missed ?
About the Output File Respository, Can i copy and paste the Input and Output File Repository ?

Can anyone please help me know the difference between Crystal Reports Server 2008 and Business Objects XI R2? Both the support guides says that it supports Office 2007. I have a problem in exporting the reports to Excel 2007 .I have downloaded the trial version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 but still unable to view my complete reports in Excel 2007 through infoview because few of my report's colums are truncated and it still exports in Excel 2003.I have LiveOfficeXIR2_SP4 and Office 2007 installed. Is it so that i have to switch over to Business Objects XI R2 or any other to solve my problem instead of using Crystal Reports Server 2008 or is it the problem with the version of my Live office.Pls help me regarding this..

Crystal Reports Server 2008 Trial Installation Problem

I recently downloaded the trial version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 and ran into a problem with the installation key code sent to me. During the install, I enter the keycode and the install application says it is invalid. I'm attempting to install the Linux version on Red Hat Enterprise 5.2. I know that this is technically not a supported version of Linux but I would not expect that cause a problem with the key code.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is happening?

Hi Jeff,
I would suggest you to install Crystal reports on supported platform only.
To narrow down the issue you can try to install on other machine with supported environment so that it would be clear that the issue is with Keycode or not.

Crystal Reports Server 2011 and BW 7 as a data source for uploaded reports.

I am hoping someone can provide me with a clear answer for this.
Lets assume..
1. We are running crystal reports server 2011 and BW 7
2. We want to publish a report in the BI Launch pad so users can view it
3. Can we create a crystal report in the report designer with the data source as BW 7 then upload it to the reports server and have it run on-demand and Run over night?
Can anyone shed some light in this area?

Crystal Reports Server is not supporting the SAP Integration Kit. You will need BusinessObjects Edge or BusinessObjects Enterprise

Crystal Report Server xi and Crystal report 2008 Barcode

Hi, I have a crystal report server running (version xi) and have designed some reports using crystal report 2008.
My problem is that I have used barcodes in the new reports and the server throws up an error about the barcode dll.
Error message is
Unable to retrieve Object.
Error in File Report: Error in formula . 'BarcodeC39ASCII( ToText(CurrentFieldValue) )' UFL 'u2lbcode.dll' that implements this function is missing.
Can I copy this dll to the server so that it runs ?
Also, is there a crystal report server 2008, I dont see an install option on my CD?
Is my only option to purchase Crserver 2008 ?

Hi Philip,
If you check in Crystal Reports designer when you created your formula, you will notice in the 'Function Tree' of the Formula editor the DLL that responsible for 'Barcode39ASCII'. The DLL is u25azalea.dll.
Since this DLL was only shipped for CR2008 and not Crystal Reports XI there may be other dependencies. As far as the location where it should be placed for CRS-XI, it would most likely need to reside in:
\Program Files\Business Objects\common\3.x\bin

Crystal Reports Server XI 2008 R2 - Problem

We have installed the "Crystal Reports Server XI 2008 R2" and registered the product, if we try to generate the crystal report at the server, it gives the below error message (Message logged at the following path C:Program FilesApache Software FoundationTomcat 5.5logs)

Actually we do not find "Central Management Console" in Start/Programme/Crystal Reports Server 2008/Crystal Reports Server 2008/.
We also tried using the http://webserver:8080/CmcApp/ by providing the correct hostname and also with the IP address; but we get a webpage not found error.
Could you please help us. We are not able to find Central Management Console.

Cannot install Crystal Reports Server 2008 and Client Tools on same machine

I am having trouble setting up Crystal Reports Server 2008 with Client Tools on a new Windows 2003 SP 2 machine. The Server 2008 package installs OK (built-in MySQL server, built-in Tomcat 5.5 server). Reports run okay. But my customer wants to run reports that use Salesforce as a data source, so I tried to install Crystal Reports Server 2008 Client Tools (needed for Salesforce support, apparently). I receive this error:
'Business Objects product detected: cannot continue with install'. Installation of Client Tools immediately terminates.
Oddly enough, when I uninstalled Server 2008, the Client Tools installed successfully. Then I tried installing Server 2008, and I got the same error message as with Server 2008. What the heck?
Any ideas on how I can get Server 2008 and Server 2008 Client Tools to live in harmony on the same machine? We were able to do this with a (otherwise overloaded) Win2K3 server before.

Typically the client tools are installed with enterprise by default. If not then you would want to use add/remove in control panel and select them. The installer thinks you are trying to install enterprise on top of itself and thus the error.

I had the same problem.
The problem is the destination folder for you backup.
You need a short name. Try a 3 or 4 letter folder on the root of a drive.
Ex : E:\BOF for backup offline, or E:\BO for backup online.

Problems with parameter button in Crystal Report Server 2008

Dear all,
I have problems with parameter button in Crystal Report Server 2008.
when I created some parameters and groups in Crystal Report 2008, they showed both parameters in 'Parameter button' and group in 'Group button' on the left, so I can choose or type without clicking 'Refresh button' But when I added it to Crystal Report Server 2008 and I click parameter button , it doesn't show any parameter. Only click refresh button to choose them. On the other hand, for 'Group Tree' is ok. When go to Default Setting-> Parameter, all parameters are in 'Unused parameter' First time I think I had problems with my installation, but when I reinstalled it again, it was like before.
Could any one help me with this?

Do I need to uninstall Crystal Reports Server 2008?

We recently installed Crystal Reports Server 2008 and began migrating reports off the CR Enterprise 9 platform and things were going pretty well.
One of our other locations began moving over their reports that are ran against an Oracle database and cannot get passed a connectivity issue. We found the following:
Oracle connectivity issues
If you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 on a 64-bit Windows
platform, Oracle database connectivity issues may occur. If Crystal Reports
Server 2008 V1 is installed to a location that contains brackets in the folder
path, for example, C:\Program Files (x86)\, it will be unable to connect
to an Oracle database. Certain Oracle database clients such as version
10.2.0.2 or 10.1.0.2, may not function properly with any application that
has brackets in its folder path. When installing Crystal Reports Server 2008
V1, select an installation path that does not contain brackets, such as
C:\Program Files x86\ or contact Oracle support for an updated database
client.
We of course have everything installed in the default (x86) folder. My question is, is there a way to move the installation, or do I need to uninstall/re-install? If I need to re-install, is there a way to back-up and reload all of my existing jobs?

CR must have the Oracle client installed. Unless you use a Wired Driver, which has the client engine built in, CR requires a client to be installed. It never has worked without the client installed.
Also, I've found that if you have more than one Oracle client installed it causes problems. Make sure the first one in the PATH statement points to the latest version of the client.
And yes you are correct, ODBC is a layer on top of the native client so it will be slower obviously because it has to go through one more layer of dll's to get to the server.

TruncateClippedFieldStrings for Crystal Reports Server 2008?

When we were running Crystal Reports XI, we had to add the registry key "TruncateClippedFieldStrings" on our server, because text fields on Crystal Reports were overlapping rather than truncating. Now that we are on Crystal Reports Server 2008, we are having the same problem. Does anyone know if this same fix applies to Crystal Reports Server 2008, and if so, do I also have to change the Crystal Reports Page Server (which I don't see in 2008) and Crystal Reports Report Application Server?

Using Web Services on the Crystal Report Server XI to return reports

Hi,I'm trying to setup for the first time a Crystal Reports Server XI R2 and put a couple of reports onto the server. This is so I can access the reports on the crystal reports server using using the crystal web services and finally display the reports in an ASP.NET web application.So far I have installed the server, created a couple of reports, put them on the server, and tested to see that I can access the reports using the Central Management Console. This all works fine and the reports are returned. Ok, now for the bit that's not working. I looks like your mixing technologies here. You are using Crystal Report Server and the Crystal Report Web Services that come with Visual Studio.I know that this might seem like they are the same product, and the naming does seem confusing but I'll try and make it easy for you to understand.Crystal Reports Server - This is a managed reporting solution which allows you to distribute your reports via the web. It has features like scheduling and built in security.It appears that you have a handle on what Crytal Report Server is from what you have been able to accomplish those far. You have created your report and published it to Crystal Report Server and viewed it via the Central Management Console. Crystal Reports Server has two methods for accessing the reports programatically.1. The Enterprise SDK2. The Web Services SDK<a href="/node/353">Check out this white paper that compares these two SDKs </a><a href="/node/256">This paper describes the Web Services SDK.</a>In the above paper there is a getting started section which points you to the Developer Library which shows you how to install the web services on your Crytal Reports Server machine.Crystal Reports Server does not have the Business Object web services installed by default so I would suggest following the directions in the <a href="http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm">Developer Library.</a>The directions wont talk about Crystal Reports Server but these are the directions to get the Web Services installed. Crystal Reports Server 2008 Repository Database

We've configured a new CRS 2008 server and have a "failed reports" report that worked in the old Crystal Enterprise 10 environment. It would query the repository database CMS_InfoObjects table and report failed reports for the day.
With the new version of Crystal Reports Server 2008 and the new repository database, the ObjName field and others in this table are now varbinary fields.
How can we query this field like we did with the old version to get our "failed reports" report to work?
I can't really find any informatin on the structure, etc. or how to query the repository database.

Unfortunately, you can't query it directly from a report. You have to use the query language that comes with the SDK.
I'm not sure whether CRS comes with the same Query Builder tool that comes with BusinessObjects, but if it does you can access it through a url like this: http://<server name>/AdminTools/querybuilder/ie.jsp.
To get the list of failed reports, you would run something like this query:
Select SI_NAME, SI_ID, SI_CREATION_TIME
from CI_INFOOBJECTS
where SI_INSTANCE = 1
and SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS = 3
and SI_CREATION_TIME >= '2010/08/19,00:00:00'
Unfortunately, there is no way to automate this with the Query Builder. You would have to manually run this query every day to get the information you're looking for.
If you can write code in Visual Studio or Java (or have someone available who can do this), this type of thing is not difficult to do in the SDK. You could handle it a couple of ways:
1. Create a program that loads the information to a table in your database and then run a report in CRS that will show that data.
2. Create a program that loads the data into memory and runs a report off of the in-memory data.
Either type of program could be set to run under the Windows Scheduler to automatically provide the information.

Hi,I am trying to migrate an existing Crystal Reports installation from an old server to a new server. To prevent interruption of service, the new server must be able to be online at the same time as the old server (thus it must have a different name). I installed Crystal Reports Server XI and told it to create its CMS database by copying the existing CMS database. Unfortunately, I received an unspecified error ("failed to received first object from source database"). After that, I opted to create a new, default CMS database. I tried using the import wizard to migrate the reports to the new server. The import wizard managed to bring over all of the folders, users, and groups, but not any of the reports. When I looked at the migration log, it gave me an error stating that it could not find the parent folder. I have no real idea how to address this issue. On a related note, I also do not know how to point crystal at the reports repository on the new server. I tried using the Data Source Migration wizard to copy the reports from the old server to the new server. Unfortunately, it didn't appear to register any of the new reports. Given what I have already tried, I am not sure how to proceed.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,David
