Crystal Report Template

Hello Everyone,
I have a question on templates in crystal reports. Can we create a template in a way that a set of reports point to this template and any change made to this template will be reflected in all these reports ?
Thanks,
Abhi

Not that I am aware of this. Plus you would not want that because if you create a report from the template and you made slight changes from the original template it could skew reports that have been changed slightly from the original template. That means you would have to open every report to make sure your reports still work correctly.

Thank you to all who have answered this question posted earlier under queries, I am hoping we can get a combined report using CR, a feat not possible using SAP B1 Query function. I look forward to your advice.

    Hi,
I am not familiar with crystal report. But using queries (that already answered) you can create crystal report.
You can also refer how to guide for creating crystal report in sap b1.

  • Crystal reports templates path

    Hi,
I have a question for Crystal reports template path with SAP Business One 2007A. Where can I find the report template path setting? So I can find those templates.
I worked on B1 2005 before, need some help for Crystal reports.
    Thanks a lot.
    Christina

    Hi, Gordon
Nice to know you here. hehe, my "BenJia".
Yes, I found those templates files in the share folder. But I thought I can find the setting screen in B1,  just like other path setting "Attachments Folder".
And, 2nd question, then.  Can I open design window for Crystal reports from somewhere in B1? Or the only way to do it is to open Crystal reports software, then edit templates?
    Thanks Gordon.

  • Crystal Reports Templates usage - SAP BW MDX query data

    Hi Ingo,
    How are you?
I am experiencing issues with crystal reports when trying to use crystal reports templates with SAP BW data.
I have successfully created Crystal Report using SAP BW data with NodeID,  ParentNodeID hierarchy, Crystal Hierarchical Grouping.
Also developed Xcelsius Dashboard using Live Office --> Crystal Report (SAP BW data) with refresh data on open.
Now trying to create a template for new crystal reports to be designedu2026
The following are observed by me:
    1.     When I create a crystal report using Report Wizard and select  templates from  the list shown, the following error displayed for SAP BW data:
    2.     When I try to apply template using Template Expert and selecting the report which is created using SAP BW data (and formatted), the following error displayed:
u201CCould not apply template to the documentu201D
I would like to know, whether there are known issues with Crystal Reports Templates using SAP BW data?  If so, could you suggest any solutions/work around to this issue?
    Thanks & Regards,
    S.Salai Manimudiyan

I tried the following three methods:
    1. Applied all the 12 Crystal Templates
    2. Applied my own reports as Template
    3. Also applied Crystal Report developed using Templates Fileds.
None of the above is working.
Created a report with BW query data and try to apply all the above templates but the same issue.
If I create a report using eFashion universe and apply all the above works without any problem.
I do agree with you that templates should not depend on the data source, as it is mainly for the common/standard report page layout (to reuse)...
Could you pl. check at your end and let me know the results.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hello Honza
You will have to use the InProc RAS SDK as this includes report creation APIs. A few resources to get you started:

  • Crystal Report Templates for User-Defined Objects

    Hello Experts,
I am running SAP B1 8.8 PL11. In the current patch SAP has default Crystal Reports that can be used as Layouts for Invoices, Credit Memo's so on. Is it possbile to have layouts for user defined objects ( say for instance i have a customized form under sales module, can i import a crystal template for this customized form?). In the report layout manager i don't see an option to import user-defind objects.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Praneeth

  • Difference Between Crystal Report Template and Sub Report

I am not able to get the Report Template Option/menu.
I am working with Visual Studio 2005 , Crystal Report Version 10.2
Do i need to have Crystal Report Server in order to work with Template.
Also i will like to know the diff. between Template and Sub Report?

    Hello,
The Report Template Wizard is not part of Crystal in .NET. You need to upgrade to the full version of Crystal Reports.
Template is a base report to work from. Subreport is another report object that can be inserted into a section of the main report.
    Thank you

  • Documentation of Crystal Report Template

We're using several developed Crystal Report (V11) RPT files. Is there a way to document the contents of what is contained in each RPT (Sections, Variables used, SQL used, etc)?

You can export the report to create a Report Definition.
Click on the export button and scroll down to Report Definition, you may have to install this export option if it doesn't exist.
The definition is export to a text file. It will show a lot of info but it will not show information that is stored in conditional formatting formulas.

My CRConfig.xml has correct  <reportlocation> tag.
The report generated was missing two static pictures embedded in the templates.

So, you mean that it could be a websphere issue?
Can crystal reports be at fault here? Are you aware of anyt CR related issues related to this problem?
We run our application in Websphere and include the crystal reports jars supplied by Rational Application Developer.
What is the recommended method of including crystal reports jars in our web application. We put the CR jar files under WEB-INF\lib dir.

It does not matter where the reports are. If you can open them up in the CR designer (crw32.exe) you can open them using any CR SDK.

  • Crystal Report

I set the Sales Order default layout designer to be one of the crystal report template.
Whenever I tried to preview the layout, it takes FOREVER to show the preview. Does this have something to do with parameters? How can I speed it up?

    Hi Master Gordon,
    Good to hear from you.
It is actually a build-in crystal report layout that came with SAP B1, called 'CR-2-Sales-Order-Master'. I modified it in Crystal report designer and saved it. Once I click print preview in SAP, it is loading for at least like 2 minutes and finally appeared. It shows the changes that I applied but the loading time is simply too long and doesn't seem normal. Any idea why it is doing this?

    Hi,
There is no conversion tool between these two reports.  You have to create them from scratch.

  • Generated Crystal Report PDFs are different on Windows server

    Post Author: present
    CA Forum: .NET
    Hi,
I created Crystal Report template (with two columns on one
page) inside VS 2005 on my Windows XP Professional machine.
But there are formating problems on both XP and Windows
    Server machines:
    1) On Windows XP machine, I have to overlap the two columns
on the page inside VS 2005 editor in order to generate
correct PDF file (without overlap). How to fix the the
    overlapping problem in editor?
    2) On Windows 2003 server: After I put the template on
Windows 2003 server that has no VS 2005 installed (only
CRRedist2005_x86.msi was installed), the generated PDF has
different font size and layout (such as page size, column
    overlap, etc).
Do I have to install VS 2005 on server too? It is really
frustrating that I have to print document generated on the
server before I know if the template works fine or not.
    Any help is highly appreciated!

Typically when you are seeing page formatting issues on different machines, it could be because of printer drivers (or lack of).  The reporting engine relies on the printer driver configured on the machine to provide information so that a page can be properly rendered.  If you designed the report on your dev machine which is using PrinterA and then deploy to another machine using PrinterB, the formatting could be off.  So make sure that the exact same printer driver is being used on these machines.  If your deployments are expected to go to different machines where you don't know what printer will be installed, then you will need to design the report such that it can be rendered as best as possible.  Another option is to check the "No Printer" option and this should render the report the same on any machine with any printer, but then you'll need to make sure you handle any scenarios where the user wants to print to the printer.
If this is an ASP.NET application then permissions could play a part if the printer drivers cannot be accessed.  There are whitepapers on the BOBJ support site that have information on to configure CR to print reports in ASP.NET apps.
