Crystal Report v 9 Save As Crystal Report 8.5

Post Author: JacciM
CA Forum: General
I have CR 8.5 licensed and installed on my PC but another user (Kim) has CR 9.0 licensed and installed.  They created a report that I now have to generate data with while Kim is out on unexpected medical leave.  When I try to open the report in CR v8.5 it will not allow me to open due to version differences.  I have access to log on to Kim's PC to convert this to CR v8.5 but do not see in the Save As option to use a different version.
Is this possible?
Thank You

  • Cannot save Crystal report layout or view new layout of report

    I am trying to make a change to a system crystal report (cust. recievables detailed aging). I had to make the date feild a little wider, so I edited the "system layout" that came with SAP (in my test DB of course), and I go to add-ins>sap business one>save. I get the following error "current user has no permissions for this operation". I am logged in as a superuser and full perm.
    If I "save-as" and save it to a layout in sap....when I go to open the aging with my newly created layout it freezes and asks for DB logon info to connect to my server from crystal. I do not normally have to do this when I preview my reports in the out of the box layouts. WHat am I doing wrong? I am new to crystal.

    The system will not allow me to export the system crystal report....it is grayed out, and it IS a crystal report. HOwever I can open it in crystal, then save it to my desktop, then from INSIDE of SAP in the report and layout manager I import the crystal report I made the changes to from my desktop into SAP and it saves and imports no problems. However when I go to view the report (and this is only the ones I import), it prompts me with the db login for our server to connect, and it is only with that report, once I enter sa credentials it is fine and shows up from there on in, but not if I log out of SAP and back in...then I have to put in my credentials again. Is this something having to do with the report when I make changes to it? I cant have users entering login info each time they run the new aging details report. Please advise what I may be doing wrong when I make changes to a crystal report. It was a very minor change....just moved a feild width.

  • Cant save a Crystal Report on SAP BW

    Hello,
    i created a report with Crystal Reports 2008 V1 and will save it on my sap bw system. I have installed the sap integration kit and when i press the SAVE Button in Crystal Reports 2008, i get the Returncode 471. Original message in german: "Fehler beim Speichern und/oder Veröffentlichen. Rückgabecode 471 wurde vom Server zurückgegeben". Anybody knows what to do?

    Hi  Timma,
    There might be some dll's missing on your machine while re-installing or uninstalling any of the products.
    SO, it is suggested you to completely remove all the products on the machine and then try to go with   fresh  installation.
    Thanks,

  • Password is lost when I save the Crystal Report

    We use Crystal Reports v. 11.5.3.417, and our users access the crystal Reports using InfoView (Web Portal)
    We store the username and password inside the different Repor so the end-users of these reports don't have to know our database passwords in order to run the reports. (Oracle DB)
    We have 2 problems with our Crystal Reports
    1) Every time I change and the Save a report, the Password is lost, and I have to remember to go into the "Manage Object" and Process->Database and enter it again. It's really annoying to have to remember this every time we change a report.. Is there an option somewhere to avoid this?
    2) The password and username are occationly failing. When the users (accessing Crystal Reports through the Web Portal / Infoview) get an error message "Incorrect logon parameters..." The funny thing (actually not that funny) is that if I try to open the report like 10-15 times, just by clicking on the Crystal Report in the Infoview, it usually starts to work again. Some times after 5 clickes, and other times after 10-15 clicks. Its just not logical. Also when it starts working in my web-browser, it also start to work on our users browser as well.
    Every week I have to tell a couple of users to try like 10-15 times, but its not that funny to say this to a user.

    Hi   Roy Ingar Hansen,
    If  you think not to provide the password for your End user then we can  do that go into the "Manage Object" and Process->Database  enter the password  and Enable the option in :
    When viewing report:
    Use same database logon as when report is run.
    For the first time you need to enter the logon credentials and enable the option and click on update.
    It wont prompt for the password and it will not show password to your user's.
    If you have problems with Original database logon , then try with Custom database logon and update the option.
    Try with this...

  • Crystal Reports 9 Save/Save As Buttons Not Responding

    I'm trying to install Crystal Reports 9 on my laptop.  The installation process itself goes well but yet when I create a new report and click either the Save or Save As buttons, absolutely nothing happens.  No dialogue box pops up so I'm unable to Save the report.  When I exit the program, it asks if I want to save Report1 and I click Yes and nothing happens either.
    Any ideas?  I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled numerous times.
    If you have any ideas, please let me know.
    Thank you.
    Roger

    I would suggest you to manually register u201CFiledialog.dllu201D as follows:
    1. Click 'Start' then 'Run'.
    2. Type the following with quotes as shown:
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Business Objects\3.0\bin\filedialog.dll"
    The following confirmation appears: "DLLRegisterServer in C:\Program Files\Common Files\ Business Objects\3.0\bin\filedialog.dll succeeded".
    Note:Path of filedialog.dll will be not exactly same because it depends on the versions.
    Hope that helps!!

  • Crystal Report Server: Cannot save Database Configuration in CMC

    I already posted this question as SAP internal CSN message (message number 1896093 2009) but did not get any answer so far.
    I have installed a test version (which I'd like to become permanent some
    day...) of Crystal Reports Server 2008 on a local machine to be able to
    share Crystal reports within our department.
    I created a couple of reports which I would like to get updated
    regularly. The issue is here that I get a logon screen to the underlying
    SQL Server as soon as a user clicks on "Refresh" when viewing a report
    from InfoView. The SQL Server is running on integrated security
    via SSO, which I cannot change...
    To get around this issue I would like to change the default Database
    Configuration of the reports. Hence I do the following:
    1) I open the Central Mangement Console
    2) I select one of my reports
    3) Rightclick on Properties
    4) On the Default tab I select Database Configuration
    5) the config is set to "Logon Screen" and I ant to change this to SSO,
    so I set this
    6) Now I click on Save
    => The setting is reverted to the old "Logon Screen" settin1g
    This behavior is the same for all the reports I'm using.
    Looking forward to any help, kind regards
    Wolfgang
    P.S.: Ultimately this issue arises, because I cannot refresh my crystal report data in batch job mode, because the reports are reading data from an SQL server, which allows SSO-logon (integrated security) only. Thus I have to open each and every report for update manually and click on the refresh button.

    Hi Manish,
    thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I'm still stuck in this matter.
    Does this happen with the sample reports too? I think it will be a good approach to try this to see if your system is behaving differently for sample reports and reports published from outside
    I did not really try this, but viewing and editing my reports in Crystal Reports 2008 Designer works perfectly fine. As well can the user view my reports in the InfoViewApp.
    Also, does it revert to the login screen setting immediately after you click Save or does it show the setting as changed after clicking Save but, does not retain it when you come back and check the report settings again?
    The data is reverted immediately after clicking "Save"
    Kind reagrds

  • Save Database connection in crystal report

    We have build a crystal report that is saved in Business view manager. When we run the report from infoview, it always asks for database connection after we enter the parameters.
    How can we save the database connection details in crystal so that it never ask for database connection when running the report from infoview?
    I have a very little idea about business view manager and infoview. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Report designed in CR XI R2 (v11.5.8.826).  Being saved to a
    BO Enterprise XI R2 (v11.5.3.4175) server.
    Tried saving the report to the BO repository, takes a long time and then pops up with the error:
    Failed to read data from report file <report location> Reason: Unable to launch <Crystal Report location where reportadd.exe is> program to add report to the system.
    I login to the server and try to upload the report using the "Publishing Wizard".  I get the same error, this time referencing the location of reportadd.exe in Business Objects.
    A look at the BO log shows me:
    Timestamp     ProcessID     ThreadID     Message
    [Thu Oct 16 17:47:58 2008]     5956     6036     assert failure: (.\fromreport.cpp:257). (false : PipeListener: timed out reading from pipe: No error).

    [Thu Oct 16 17:47:58 2008]     5956     6036     assert failure: (.\fromreport.cpp:283). (false : ReportAdd process died).
    [Thu Oct 16 17:47:58 2008]     5956     6036     assert failure: (.\fromreport.cpp:557). (false : Unable to launch "<path>ReportAdd program to add report to the system.).
    That being said, sometimes it does work.  The behavior of both the publishing wizard and CR when saving or trying to upload the report is an hour glass for about 4-5 minutes.  If you click away from the application and then click on it again, it states "Not responding" but it is still working.  In some cases when I try again to save the report, it goes through in 1-2 minutes.  Sometimes if I click away and come back, click on the active app again so it states "Not responding" it will complete saving.
    No resolution as of yet, simply keep on trying.  This only happens on this particular report which uses a good amount of tables and custom commands all querying a Sybase database.  I have other reports with the same functionality that do not run into this problem.

  • Crystal Reports functionality from Save The Cat

    Sorry if I've missed this in the presentation video since I've only watched half of it, so I have no idea if this has been considered for development.
    I use "Save The Cat" from Blake Snyder to storyboard my scenes with Crystal Reports - minus his structure.. and I create my own story templates and then drop the whole thing into "Final Draft".
    If I had the flexibility to setup and re-use "structure" templates that would contain my scene cards with an overview of my scene cards as the structure under my script and the ability to toggle between the two...then where do I sign on the dotted line?
    If you could integrate this functionality into this software - and as I say, I'm not sure if you've done this - then I'm sold. In other words, you build with the cards, and worry about the script later.
    Cheers,
    C.

    I need more info from you. I have looked for info re. Powerbuilder 11.5 here:
    http://www.sybase.com/products/modelingdevelopment/powerbuilder
    but I can not find any mention of Crystal Reports as it would apply to Crystal Reports being part of Powerbuilder 11.5. So, I need more explanation of this:
    I'm trying to use the Crystal Reports ocx from Powerbuilder 11.5
    Also, in the title of this post, you mention:
    Crystal Reports RDC from Powerbuilder.
    RDC and OCX are quite different technologies. It's one or the other. Thus please provide the following info:
    1) Is the CR component you are using (be it an OCX or RDC) part of Powerbuilder? Or have you purchased a stand-alone version of CR and are using the component in Powerbuilder?
    2) What component are you actually referencing?
    3) What is the version of the Crystal Reports you are using?

  • How to save a Signature captured using InkManager in byte[] to be read in Crystal Report.

     Hi.
     I'm developing an enterprise app in Xaml where I capture a signature using the InkManager control in windows 8.1, the user can print the document from the device just fine with the signature, but the document is sync back to the server and from Dynamics
    GP the user can print the document but the signature is not in a valid format.
    I use the next code to save it into a database field in byte[] but the format is not recognized by the process in the crystal reports.
    public async Task<byte[]> SaveToByte()
    if (_NoteInkManager == null) return null;
    using (var stream = new InMemoryRandomAccessStream())
    await _NoteInkManager.SaveAsync(stream);
    await stream.FlushAsync();
    stream.Seek(0);
    byte[] nbytes = new byte[stream.Size];
    IBuffer buffer = nbytes.AsBuffer();
    await stream.ReadAsync(buffer, (uint)stream.Size, InputStreamOptions.None);
    return nbytes;
     I'm looking several solution but none of I found work in my application.
    I appreciated any help thanks.

    Is the problem that you need another format or that the stream isn't being rendered correctly? If you save the buffer to disk can you view it as a GIF and read it back in with InkManager.LoadAsync?
    InkManager.SaveAsync will write out an ISF file, which is a GIF with ink information in its metadata.
    If you need another format you should be able to read the image itself (but not the stroke info) with a BitmapDecoder and then transcode with with a BitmapEncoder.
