Crystal Report Viewer Export options

In the toolbar of Crystal Report Viewer, there is export button, click it it will pop-up the file dialog for you to choose the export format and dist file location.
the default(first choice) export format in CR2008 is ".rpt", , how can I set the default export format to ".pdf"?
Thanks for help.

Remove the viewer Export button from the toolstrip
Add a new Export button
On click event of the new Export button, present the user with custom export form
Use the following sample code
Private Sub frmReportPreview_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Dim ts As ToolStrip
Dim currentExportButton As ToolStripButton
Dim newExportButton As ToolStripButton
' Replace the export button with our own export button so we can handle the event ourselves
ts = DirectCast(CRViewer.Controls(4), ToolStrip)
currentExportButton = DirectCast(ts.Items(0), ToolStripButton)
ts.Items.Remove(currentExportButton)
newExportButton = New ToolStripButton("", My.Resources.Export, AddressOf ExportButton_Click)
newExportButton.ToolTipText = "Export report to disk"
ts.Items.Insert(0, newExportButton)
End Sub
Create windows form 'frmReportExport' that contains the export file types and their order, then use the following code:
Private Sub ExportButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
Dim frmExport As frmReportExport
' Allow the user to specify options such as the name of the file and format before exporting.
frmExport = New frmReportExport
frmExport.Report = Report
frmExport.ShowDialog()
End Sub
Then use the code below to run the export from the custom report export windows form.
Report.ExportToDisk(exportFormat, fileExport.SelectedFilename)
Please do note. This is an unsupported, undocumented hack of the viewer. This may work for your current app, but you risk that the same approach may not work in future versions of the viewer...

  • Remove the Crystal Reports (.rpt) Export Option from IE Viewer

    When I click the "export" button from my IE Crystal Viewer the first export option is "Crystal Reports".  I need to get rid of that option as I don't want my clients to export my report to an .rpt file.
    How do I manage this list in .Net 2005?  I know there is a file that needs to be modified but I just don't know which one.

    When you click on Export button a window should pop up which contains a dropdown for all formats.
    As you are not getting dropdown.The .js file is not correct.Copy the same file from some other machine of same version or
    You can try with making changes in export.js file.
    Path of export.js file is :
    C:\WINDOWS:\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\ASP.NET ClientFiles\CrystalReportWebformViewer3\JS\export.js
    Create backup of that file before editing.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Problem in crystal report viewer control's toolbar "export"button using SSL

    Hi,
    I would like to ask. My project is using BO XI Release 2 and VS-Studio 2005. Initially my project doesn't use SSL... At that time when i view the report with crystal report viewer control and can export (using built-in toolbar "export button"). Now project is using SSL and canu2019t export the error is
    u201CInternet Explorer cannot download file from server.
    Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.u201D
    Actually this error can solve "Cache-control" change to "no-cache". But I donu2019t know in crystal reportu2026
    Anyone can help ???
    Thanks

    In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced and ensure "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is unchecked.
    Default is to have that option checked.
    It was considered a IE security issue that IE saves all content to temp disk location unencrypted, even those pages served by HTTPS (for example, let's say you use HTTPS to download your bank info, and it's stored to temp disk for someone else to retrieve later).  So more recent versions of IE implemented that option setting.
    How that option setting works is strange - it downloads the file, saves to disk, then deletes the copy from the disk immediately, before passing it to the application responsible for the MIME type.  So the application tries to open a directory path to a non-existing file.
    Issue is specific to IE, and it's not something you can control via the SDK.

    Ted Ueda

  • Error With Export/Print from Crystal Report Viewer

    Hello there,
    I've searched through the web and SAP discussion boards with not much luck with this issue.
    After working through this for some days now I've decided to look here for help.
    Environment:
    I have created a web Crystal Report viewer application(Developed with SBOP BI Platform 4.0 SP06 .NET SDK Runtime) that communicates with a managed Cyrstal Server 2011 SP4 (Product 14.0)
    I am able to connect and authenticate with the server, retrieve a token for communication and display reports in the Crystal report Viewer successfully.
    Problem:
    When I attempt to export, I receive the prompt to select format and pages.
    When I click export after selections most times I receive an error with the text
    Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.PropertyBag'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{74EEBC42-6C5D-11D3-9172-00902741EE7C}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
    Other times the page simply refreshes on export.
    When I click to print, no print dialog is displayed the page always refreshes and no error is displayed.
    No Print or Export document is ever created.
    As many print/export issues seems to be related, I'm guessing this two issues are as well.
    Notes:
    I am utilizing the ReportClientDocument model
    I am storing this in session to use as the crystal report viewer report source on postbacks
    I am assigning a subset of export formats to the crystal report viewer
    I am setting particular parameters as well on the report source
    At this point I would appreciate every assistance I may receive on this issue
    Thanks in advance,

    Thanks Don for your response,
    I'm new to the SCN spaces and my content has been moved a couple of times already.
    In response to your questions
    The runtime is installed on the web application server, if by that you mean the machine hosting the created .NET SDK application.
    My question was whether it was also required on the Crystal Server 2011 (I.E. the main enterprise server with CMS and Report management and I guess RAS and all that). I figured this would remain untouched and queries would simply be made against it to retrieve/view reports e.t.c
    If install of the SDK on Crystal Server 2011 is indeed required should I expect any interruption to any of the core services after a restart. I.E. I'm hoping that none of the SDK objects would interfere with the existing server objects (in SAP Business Objects)Reason I ask is I note that much of the SDK install directories are similar to the existing Crystal Enterprise Server 2011 (Product 14.0.0)
    Is this temp folder to be manually created/configured or is it created by the application automatically to perform tasks. Or are you referring to the default C:\Windows\Temp directory and so saying that the application would try to use this for print and export tasks?Once I'm sure which I'd give the app pool user permission
    Printing is to be client side but I figured by default (with the Crystal Report Viewer) it would simply pool and print from the user's printer. This is how it works with the previously used URL reporting approach (viewrpt.cwr). Therefore a user can print the document from wherever they are with their own printer.We don't intend on printing from the server machine, but are you suggesting that a printer must be installed on server (which one web or enterprise server) for any client side printing to work.
    App pool is running in 32 bit mode
    Initially didn't get anything useful from fiddler but I'd try and look closer on your suggestion.
    It's also possible that some of my questions are a misunderstanding of APP vs RAS vs WEB, so please feel free to clarify. Currently I see the Web server as simply the created .NET SDK Application and RAS (Crystal Server 2011 e.t.c) as the existing fully established Application server which I simply pool for information.
    Thank you for your patience and advice,

  • How to change default Export Format Type in Crystal Report Viewer

    We are coding in VB.NET 2005 using the CR2008 SP1 .NET objects.
    The Crystal Report Viewer, when displayed, defaults the export type as .rpt (Crystal Reports).
    We distribute our .NET application to our customers.  99% of the time, this .rpt format is useless to our customers as they do not have crystal reports developer.  They usually export to a .pdf or .xls format.  Is there a way to default this export option to something other than .rpt?
    Thank you.

    Yes, that's as much as I figured.
    With the Crystal for .NET methods, the CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine's reportdocument object has an ExportToDisk method.  We wanted to use this (as we used something similar with the RDC) to prompt the user to export.  However, the reportdocument's exporttodisk method does not have an argument that allows for Prompting the user (true/false) like the RDC's export did.  You have to actually know ahead of time the type of export the user wants as well as the filename.  Well, we do not, and therefore, want the user to be able to select the type of export they want as well as enter their own filename.  We want the Crystal methods to prompt for this.  Since we are unable to, we've had to resort to declaring a reportviewer object and setting the viewer's reportsource = to the reportdocument.  We then use the ExportReport() method which defaults to .rpt (which none of our end users have Crystal Developer).  This is why we want to know if there is a way to reset the default export method to something more common (such as .pdf or .xls).  Is there a way to change the reportdocument's file type in order to default the export type?  Just trying to come up with some sort of workaround...
    Thanks

  • Get blank report in Crystal Report Viewer when exporting to PDF

    I have an application that creates reports in the CrystalReportViewer while at the same time exports a PDF of that report.  I am having a problem in which
    performing the export causes the report in the ReportViewer and the PDF report to be blank. They have the header and column labels but no data.  If I
    comment out the Me.Export(reportExportOptions) line at the end of the exportPDFReport method the report in the ReportViewer works fine, displaying
    data on the report.
    I have other forms that perfrom this same type of function on different reports and work fine.  In fact they use the same exportPDFReport method.  This leads
    me to believe that a difference in the reports may be causing the problem.  But I can't figure out why.
    I am using .net 3.5 with Crystal Reports 2008 (CR2008) full edition in Visual Studio 2008.  Although the reports that work were probably created using
    VS 2005 and the VS 2005 edition of Crystal, and which have since been updated to CR2008.
    Has anyone else experienced this problem?  If so, how did you resolve it?

    Seems I had at one time hard coded a record selection statement that I forgot to remove which caused the report to be blank.  That solved my problem, but there still seems to be an issue in that the Crystal Report Viewer performed differently when I tried to export to PDF (no records displayed) then when I didn't (records displayed).

  • Crystal Report Viewer shows blank but exporting shows results

    I'm getting a really strange issue when opening a report using the CrystalReportViewer class.  The Crystal Report Viewer shows up nicely in my webpage....but the report is completely blank.  When I click on the Export button in the Viewer & export to any format,  the results show up nicely.  Also when I right click on the Viewer page & view source, I can see all my report data there in Javascript....but for some reason it's just not being rendered on the page.
    I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 & I believe I've added the necessary jars & also included the entire crystalreportviewers folder (with all js files) in my Web folder.  Also, I don't see any exceptions in the crystal_exception_log_file.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

    The same problem to me also.
        I was using the crystal report in visual studio 2008, the report was perfectly working. But when we migrated the project into visual studio 2010, the crystal report simply shows the blank report. But the javascript is having the actual data but not only rendered in the screen.
       Please anybody have valid solution for this, let us know.
    Thanks

  • How to print directly to Printer from Crystal Report Viewer ?

    Hi All,
    We are integrating our Java Web Application with Crystal report XI, currently using JRC and export to PDF for user to preview and print to local printer.
    Now there is new requirement :
    Some clients is using thin client terminal (no harddisk, only has OS +Browser in ROM), so I cannot install Acrobat Reader for them to preview&print the report.
    So I am looking at  Crystal Report Viewer, the question is : Can I print from Crystal Report Viewer directly to local printer without first converting it to PDF (because I can't have acrobat reader installed) ??
    Thank you very much,

    Hi,
    It can't be achieved through XI.
    JRCXI R2 SDK offers the ability to print the report server side
    using the PrintOutputController using printReport(PrintReportOptions printReportOptions) method.
    Here is the code(for XIR2):
    import="com.crystaldecisions.reports.sdk.*"
    import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.*"
    import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.document.*"
    try {
    final String REPORT_NAME = "Inventory.rpt";
    ReportClientDocument reportClientDoc = new ReportClientDocument();
    reportClientDoc.open(REPORT_NAME, 0);
    //Create and set print options.
    PrintReportOptions printOptions = new PrintReportOptions();
    //Note: Printer with the 'printer name' below must already be configured.
    printOptions.setPrinterName("
    10.10.45.220
    BOBJ 2C");
    printOptions.setJobTitle("Sample Print Job from JRC.");
    printOptions.setPrinterDuplex(PrinterDuplex.horizontal);
    printOptions.setPaperSource(PaperSource.auto);
    printOptions.setPaperSize(PaperSize.paperLetter);
    printOptions.setNumberOfCopies(1);
    printOptions.setCollated(false);
    PrintReportOptions.PageRange printPageRange = new PrintReportOptions.PageRange(1,1);
    printOptions.addPrinterPageRange(printPageRange);
    //NOTE: If parameters or database login credentials are required, they need to be set before.
    //calling the printReport() method of the PrintOutputController.
    reportClientDoc.getPrintOutputController().printReport(printOptions);
    reportClientDoc.close();
    out.println("Successfully sent report to the printer.");
    catch(ReportSDKException ex) {
         out.println(ex);
    Please revert in case you have any query.
    Thanks,

  • Crystal report viewer does not observe the PaperSize and PageOrientation setting

    Hi:
    My application is a 3 tier application, where the WinForm client is connected to the WCF Services hosted in IIS server.
    The report is generated on server side using WCF service, and export as.rpt with data, the .rpt file is then sent to the WinForm client, the Crystal Report viewer is used to load the .rpt file for preview and print.
    On server side I've Microsoft XPS Document Writer installed and set as default printer. On the client side if the default printer is XPS or Nitro PDF creator, the report can be view and print correctly, report design in landscape will be able to show in the landscape in CR viewer, report design using custom paper size (e.g. Half Letter), CR viewer able to show it in Half Letter.
    The problem that I'm facing is when the default printer is set to HP LaserJet P1120 or others (I've tried Epson ESC/P Standard driver), the report is always shown in the portrait, and it will not be able to show in custom paper size either. Here is my code:
         Dim settings As New System.Drawing.Printing.PrinterSettings

Do the changes in report PrintOption before assign to CRViewe and after assigning to CRViewer make any different?
    I'm using VS2010, CR XI R2 (Version 11.5.3700.0). Please Help. Thanks
    Regards
    JC Voon

    Hi JC,
    CRXI R2 is a no go with VS 2010, these two are not compatible.
    With CR 11.5 use VS 2005.
    Or Use VS 2010 and CR for VS 2010 (13.0)
    Once you have the supported / compatible conbination of CR and VS, use the In Proc RAS .NET code from below KBA.

    Also, see the KBAs returned by below search. The top right corner search box on this page is quite helpful.

  • Crystal Reports Viewer - pdf, prompts, icons problem

    Hi all,
    I am a new in BO.
    I have some answer about Crystal Reports Viewer (not about setup.exe but about CRV application that I uploaded on Tomcat)
    1) The old version (11.5) works good, only Export to PDF functionality is wrong. There are in the pdf file wrong display of specific czech characters (charset)
    2) A new version, Crystal Reports Viewer 2008, show the same pdf mistake. I have J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 4 and Apache Tomcat 5.5.9.
    I upload application on Tomcat, configuration (web.xml, crconfig.xml and context.xml) is the same with version 11.5.
    Crystal Reports Viewer 2008 displayed reports, but the problem with PDF is present. The second problem is the look of CRV. First one, the icons (for export, print...all icons) are not displayd. I can copy old jar files into java (in application folder C:\WebReports\WEB-INF\lib), but then CRV looks like old version.
    And CRV 2008 doesn't display listbox in dynamic prompt on crystal report. What shall I set to displaying prompts in CRV 2008 (on CRV or on report in Crystal 2008)?
    Have you some idea? What and how can I set and configure application and where?
    Veronika

    Hi,
    To confirm, are you talking about "Crystal Reports Viewer 2008" http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/reporting/viewer/index.epx
    I suggest sending in the report, in the viewer, select "Help" - "General Feedback" and then pick the option to attach the report.  In a couple of months there will be a refresh version of this view which will have Czech language support so it would be good if we could test out your PDF issue.
    As for showing parameters in the prompt panel in Crystal Reports Viewer 2008, since the viewer cannot refresh the data, make sure the parameter does not used in the record selection formula but only in the saved data selection formula.

  • How to set printersettings for the crystal report viewer in SAP BI dynamically

    Hello
    I have set the URL method for my crystal report and with parameter passing as shown below, it was displaying the crystal report viewer by connecting to the SAP BI 4.0 server with this method.
    http://cr:port/businessobjects/enterprise115/desktoplaunch/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sDocName=CRLabelParam&sType=rpt&lsSnPrinted=0&lsSsTestProjectNr=1
    This URL will be called from Web application by different users, i would like to set the printer settings differently for different users for this crystal report viewer how shall i need to set the printer options?
    shall i need to set the printer settings programatically for each user. Please advise me how do i need to proceed.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rajeswari.

    There are no BI / CR APIs that would do this for you. The way I see it, you'll have to have your own print button and populate it with the correct printer information for each user as they request the report. Of course, alternatively, use the viewer printer button and get the users to choose the correct printer.

  • Crystal Report Viewer not displaying properly in on loading

    I am using Visual Studio 2012 in Windows 10 with IIS 8.5. I configured Crystal reports properly but when I load the webpage the Crystal report viewer doesn't load properly and the toolbar and other options are not showing. Please help. Following is the problem am talking about:

    Hi Zaeem,
    Windows 10 is not currently supported. We plan to add it to the supported platform in SP 14 which is planned for sometime end May.
    I tried it and make sure you are loading the Viewer and Report in the Page_Init section. Also the CrystalReportsViewer folder must be included in the project.
    Try searching and you'll find info on this subject.

  • Crystal Report as PDF without Crystal Report Viewer

    Hi,
    i have a question to a Crystal Report document. The situation is, that i have a document in InfoView. If i open the Crystal document, it will be launch the Crystal Report viewer in the IE. The next step is to use the export function, to create a PDF Document.
    Now, i would like to open a PDF Document directly, without the Crystal Report Viewer. How can i configuration that?
    Thanks for help.

    You could always schedule the report to PDF format, then when you clicked to view the Latest Instance, it would come up in PDF format.
