Crystal Reports 10 ODBC DLL Error

Whenever I try to add new tables in an existing report or connect to the database in a new report I receive the message:
u201CFailed to load database information. Details: The database DLL u2018crdb_odbc.dllu2019 could not be loaded.u201D
How do I fix this?
Many thanks, Dom

Hi Dom,
Does that dll exist on your PC and if so where?
Do you have more than one dll and more than one version of CR installed?
Can you create a new report using your System DSN to that same database?
It should be by default but go into add/remove programs and try doing a repair install, you'll need the CR 10 CD or a local copy of it on your hard drive.
Thank you
Don

  • Seagate Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer error '80043ac4'

Website slows down when users are running reports. Users start getting errors when running any crystal report. After sometime main page itself stops loading and only static html is visible. Following is one of the errors users see:
Seagate Crystal Reports ActiveX Designer error '80043ac4'
    Invalid directory.
    /opera_mort2/report/AlwaysRequiredSteps.asp, line 54
Other errors seen on reporting site at that time are

    Unexpected error
    /opera_mort2/report/rpt_level.asp
A trappable error (C00000005) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running.
    authentication and network errors.
Rebooting the Web Server temporarily fixes the issue however the error recurs again after a day or two. We are seeing this problem in both our PROD and DR server. There was no change done to either of these boxes recently.
Also at this pint IIS was crashing. Microsoft Support analyzed the crash dumps created from IIS and came up with the following:
"All the memory dumps captured showed the same DLL that was accessing corrupted memory. This same DLL would also be the one that had originally written to those addresses. The DLL was craxdrt.dll from Crystal Reports 8.0 ActiveX Designer, which was version 8.0.1.0 from 1/28/2000. This DLL should be updated to see if this issue has already been fixed. Other options are to recycle IIS more frequently and move to a new version of Crystal Reports."
Here is a detailed analysis from Microsoft Support:
The issue appears to be heap corruption. Normally these are difficult to troubleshoot, however, in this case every memory dump that I looked at had the same component involved.

Something must have changed. Were any patches or auto updates done to the OS?
CR 8.0 has been out of the support cycle for some time now.
As Microsoft suggested please log in and download the patches for CR 8.0 from:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-support
If that does not resolve the issue the only option will be to schedule sn IIS restart each night.

1212487 - Error: "CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server. Error Number:-2147221005"
    Symptom
A report is called through the Active Server Pages (ASP) Report Server to be displayed in the Report Viewer for ActiveX. However, the report is displayed with blank pages and when the viewer is switched to the Report Viewer for HTML the following error is displayed:
"CRAXDRT Error Occurred on Server. Error Number:-2147221005 Error Description: 006ASP 0177 Server.CreateObject Failed~Invalid Class String"
The same ASP application returns the report correctly when it is called from a client computer with the full version of Crystal Report 8 Developer Edition installed.
    Resolution
It was found that the file, Emfgen.dll, was not installed and registered on the web server computer during the installation of the Crystal Reports ASP Reports Server. The report could be displayed correctly on the client computer, without Crystal Reports Developer Edition installed, after this file had been installed on the web server computer.

  • Crystal report 9 memory error.

we are using crystal report 9 with sybase power builder..... at some client locations we are experiencing the application crash due to memory while opening crystal reports.
    the following errors were noticed
1.the instruction at "0x77124804" referenced memory at "0x001b3e60". the memory could not be read.
2.the instruction at "0x7c911daf" referenced memory at "0x00000000". the memory could not be read.
please guide us what is the issue.. do we need any hotfix or service pack for this.
    regards

I assume you already tried to reinstall the application and I would recommend to do it one more time, but this time follow the process for so-called manual uninstall
    1. Uninstall Crystal reports 9 using add remove programs
    2. Save backup -up of the Registry
    3. Remove the following registry key (be careful with the registry file):
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports
    4. Reinstall Crystal Reports 9
As the next step I would check and disable Data Execution Prevention.
Go to: Start> Right-click My Computer" select Properties> Advanced tab > click Performance settings> Data Execution Prevention tab.
If DEP turned on for all programs, then add Crystal Reports (crw32.exe) to except list.
If DEP is not cause of problems, then I would suggest Process Monitor to locate the reason or at least try to locate it.
You can download Process Monitor utility from the following page:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
The same page will tell you how to use it. I would suggest the following steps:
    Close all unnecessary applications/processes
    1. Open Crystal Reports
    2. Start the Process Monitor, stop capturing events (Cntrl-E), clean the display (Cntrl-X), add the following filter (Cntrl-L) "Process Name is crw32.exe then include", click ok.
    3. Start capturing events (Cntrl-E)
    4. Immediately click Format menu on Crystal Reports
    5. Stop capturing events and save the log file
Now you can look at the log file to see what is going wrong. I would also advice to capture the same log on client machine to compare the sequence of events.
    Gracias...!!

  • Crystal Reports 2008-Vista-ERROR-crw32.exe Entry Point Not Found in dll

    Hi Experts,
I just installed the Crystal Reports 2008 (with SP0) on my Vista (Home) machine.  When I try to start the CR 2008, I am getting the below error message:
Error Title: crw32.exe - Entry Point Not Found
Error Message: The procedure entry point ?PrintLegend@CMapXLegend@CSLib300@@QAEXJJJJJ@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library cslibu-3-0.dll
Here are the things I tried to resolve the above problem:
    1) Uninstall and Reinstall the CR 2008.  -  No change.
    2) I configured the DEP to accept Crystal Reports (Performance - Advanced - DEP allow).
None of these seem fix the problem.
Can you please help me kick start the Crystal Reports 2008?
    Thanks,
    Arun

    Please try with this:
Run a command prompt as administrator. From the start menu, select "All Programs", then "Accessories" and right-click on the "Command Prompt" shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator". From here you can use the following command to disable Data Execution Prevention (DEP) with the following command:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOff
Keeping your command prompt open, run your setup or other process being stopped by DEP. Then, to turn it back on again, do the same and run the following:
    bcdedit.exe /set nx AlwaysOn

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Server Error when viewing report

    Hello All,
I have loaded a CR 2008 report onto the CR 2008 Server. When I view the report from InfoView or CMC, I get the following error message:
Error in File <report name>: Unknown Database Connector Error .
I setup the ODBC datasources on the server as they are on my client PC where the Report originally worked. Are the ODBC datasource connections supposed to copy over with the report? Or do I have to manually enter them into the "Database Configuration" section?
    Thank you in advance.

  • BUG? - Btrieve Gateway with Memo's in Crystal Report XI - Connector-Error

    Hello,
    we are using Crystal Report XI R2 with the Btrieve-Gateway (Pervasive 8 - 10) crdb_p2bbtrv.dll (12.0.0.683) p2bbtrv.dll (12.0.0.683).
Now we have big problems when we use tables with memo-fields (lvar or longvarchar) in a report.
If we run the report we get an error message "Unknown Database-Connector-Error".
We installed already the current SP and tried it in Crystal Report 2008. But the problem still exists.
Up to Crystal 8.5 it works fine (with the same datasource). If we connect via the ODBC-Gateway it work also fine.
Does anybody know a solution for our problem? Manipulate the DDF's, Hotfix download, ...
    Thanks for your answers
    Gottfried

    Hello Gottfried,
I checked our supported database part in the [supported platforms for CR 2008|https://websmp106.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000713358&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202] and could not find your Btrieve-Gateway (Pervasive 8 - 10).
So, it might be that this database is not supported with native driver but OSDBC only.
I recommend to repost this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports;  forum:
That forum is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
    Thanks a lot,

  • Deploying crystal reports 8.5 - error in exporting to RTF & PDF

Hi guys. I'm at my wits end, trying to get a valid build of a legacy app running reports under Crystal 8.5 going.
I've scoured google for days, and I've tried almost everything people have suggested. At the moment I've got the installer working, it installs and registers all the crystal dll's that everyone says are needed. However, when I try and and export a report to RTF or PDF (other options like excel work fine), it simply dies, doing basically nothing. The save to disk dialog just closes and nothing happens. If I rename or delete crxf_rtf.dll, the program will crash or hang, indicating that this is the file responsible for exporting to rtf.
However, the only machine in our office that this will work on is one with a C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\crtslv.dll file.. Same kind of test indicates that on this machine, the above file is being used for exporting. So, where am I going wrong? It seems ludicrously difficult to find a straight, no-nonsense guide on how to deploy crystal reports 8.5; the official documentation doesn't even mention it! What is the easiest way to do this?
    I have tried several third-party options ( http://www.fryan0911.com/2008/09/crystal-report-85-runtime-files.html ) like these..
    Any ideas?
Ok so here's a further breakdown with some more information; hoping it might help someone to come up with an answer...
If I install a crystal "distributable", like the one linked above, and then install my project (with all crystal stuff turned off in the installer), everything works perfectly apart from exporting reports to rtf.
If I make my own installer, following the Runtime.hlp and the crpe32.dep, and put all dll's in the windows/system32 folder (apart from two, can't remember their names), I get two different errors, depending on the version of crpe32.dll I use.
One gives me "Error 20599: Cannot connect to SQL Server", whenever I try and run a report.
The other gives me "Error 20000: N", whenever I try and run a report.
Anything sound familiar here guys? I have dll dependency headache.
Again, more info - I just checked out the PC's already in deployment (we had to re-do in the installer for some changes, the guys who did it originally aren't around anymore), and here is a list of the dll's installed on the machine.. what deployment method would this point to?  And how can I replicate it?  I'm not sure if I grabbed all the required DLL's from the client machine, as it didn't seem to follow the Crystal 8.5 deployment instructions, I could have easily have missed some? So I can't just use what I've got to create an installer and hope that it works...

Wow. I've never seen an app load all 3 SDKs in one go. the RDC, Automation Server, OCS and print engine APIs all in one (?!)Who wrote this app?
Don't know - the app was written years ago.. It's all a bit messed up, i'm just the cleaner :S
Once again, I have not a clue as to what SDK you are using.
What Sp1, SP2, SP3? Do you have links to these?
By SP3, I meant Windows XP Service Pack  3, 2, 1 - I've read around the net that Crystal 8.5 exporting breaks when you install sp3, and I thought that perhaps my deployments were failing because they were compiled on a sp3 box?
There is also CR 8.5 Service Pack 3 - apparently it can make CR work on Vista/Win7?
    http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/additional_downloads/service_packs/crystal_reports_en.asp
I have tried installing on dev machine, recompiling installer and running on test box - doesn't seem to help..
Do you have any machine where this actually works?
Yep, it's working on the clients machine - that is the one suffixed as "AA" in the linked difference file above
1st place to start is with a working app - is there such a thing? ^^
Next you want to know what SDK you are using.
Ok, so the VB6 app, under Project > References, lists : cpeaut32.dll
under Project > Components, lists: Crystl32.ocx
    Is that any help?
Then you want to know what dlls to deploy.
Knowing the database connection type is good.  - ODBC
Knowing the version of the db client that works is good. But that depends on having an actual working app.
Do you have CR 8.5 designer and are you able to run and refresh the report there?
Yep, I have 8.5 designer, and I can run and export the report fine.. But when I run MODULES on it, it's referencing C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Shared\ExportModeller.dll & crtslv.dll..  Which don't exist on the client machine at this point in time..
I'd recommend you stop doing what ever you are doing, answer the questions and wait until I get back. As it is, you're all over the place and by the time I have a chance to reply, you're 1000 miles out in the bushes on your own. So, please answer the questions above and wait...

  • Crystal Report and Log4net error 1.2.10

    Hi at all,
I have problem on Crystal Report and log4net.
It happens when I deploy the Web applications on the server.
    I'm using Visual studio 2013 update 2, and I'm using log4net 2.0.3 (1.2.13) and I'm using CRforVS2013_13_0_10, the last.
When I deploy my application on the target machine, where I have also installed the runtime 64 bit for Crystal Report, I found this error:

The problem is that the log4net is not registered in the windows\assembly directory on the target server ? Do I have to use the Gac util to register the log4net dll assembly ?
Please help me, It one day that I'm facing this error, but I'm not able to solve.

    Hi Vittorio
Please enter the search string 'log4net crystal net' into the search box in the top right corner. When the results come up, click on the Support Notes link. That will filter for the KBAs that you want to have a look at.

  • Crystal report add-on error

    Dear all,
When we login to SAP client, we got an error message
Action failed. Login failed for user 'sa'
External Connection to the database failed...
Do we have to have ODBC connection setup by 'Connect to SQL Server to obtain...'?
When we use 'with integrated windows authentication', the ODBC connection is good. And we can login to SAP but cannot use Crystal report.
    Thanks.

Edited by: Jie Jin on Oct 22, 2009 2:27 AM

    Hi All.
I'm having the exact same problem. We have about 15 client pc's and all but one is working fine. They are all running Vista Business with Business One 2007 SP01 PL05 and are all brand new systems.
This one is giving an error when Business One starts saying 'Login failed for user 'sa'. Then another popup box stating: "External Connection to the database failed. SAP Crystal addon may not function properly. Please re-run the account setup with super user login."
If I then re-run the account setup and enter the 'sa' password I get an error: "Action Failed".
I've tried making sure that I enter the password one character at a time and moving to the last character before entering the next. I've also tried pasting in the password. All gives the same error.
I've not been able to find anything on this pc that is different from the others.
    Any ideas please?
    Best wishes.

I have a Crystal Reports created against an MS SQL Server DB using an ADO Connection (crdb_ado.dll). I am using a hardcoded user ID and password for logging into SQL Server, everything works fine when I log from Crystal Reports client, I am able to connect to SQL Server and refresh the report.
When I publish to BOE and access from Infoview or CMC I get an error "[Failed to open the connection.
xxxx report Details:  [Database Vendor Code: 17 ]]". I use the same account for SQL server under database config for Crystal report within CMC.
    Please see release info below:
BOE XI 3.1 FP 3.1 (Windows 2008 server)
    Crystal Reports 2008 FP 3.1
I have checked the  ADO dll version, size etc. on both client and BOE XI server and it looks the same.
Are there any additional configuration required for this connection to work from BOE XI?
I enabled log on BOE side and could not get anymore information other than the above message. We also tried with the SQL Server SA account to make sure this is not an access issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Don,
    Please see answers below:
    >
    > What happens if you set the logon over ride properties for each instance?
    >
I select the option "Use same database logon as when report is run" and get the error mentioned in the first message.
    > Also need to know what version of SQL Server you are using and if you are using the Native Client or the OLE DB for SQL Server driver?
    >
We are using SQL Server 2008. I have tried with the OLEDB for SQL driver and with the Native client. In both the cases I am getting the same error. I also tried to change the OLEDB.sbo file as mentioned in note 1204488.
    Thanks.

  • Crystal report logon Failed Error

    Dear All
We have installed BOBJ Edge 3.1 Server at Windows Server.
We insalled Crystal Report 2008 at one of our Laptop.  (Client).
When we tried to create a sample report,
we selected a existing universe from the BOBJ Server.  When we selected it ask me for the server connection details. It connected and showed me the existing unverses.
I selected say eFashion - and picked some fields and Click OK.
Then it givs logon failed error.
Can some one explian me where i am missing
    REgards,
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
If the Universe is based off an ODBC connection, then the same ODBC connection (with the same name) needs to be present on the client machine too.
So, like Don suggested, the client machine would need the same DB client too.
Open the Universe in the Universe Designer. Go to File > Parameters > Edit. This is where you see all the connection information of the Universe.

I check my assembly folder, I found three CrystalDecisions.Web dlls with different version, 11.5.3700.0, 11.5.3300.0, 10.5.3700.0, I try to refer to 11.5.3700.0 it says there is two CrystalDecisions.Web ddls exist in GAC.
Could you tell why? and how to refer to the right dll?
    Thanks in advance

    11.5.3700.0, is CrystalDecisions.Web.dll for XIR2 and the 2.0 framework
    11.5.3300.0, is CrystalDecisions.Web.dll for XIR2 and the 1.1 Framework
10.5.3700.0, is CrystalDecisions.Web.dll for Crystal reports basic that ships with Visual Studion2008
all of these can co-exist in the GAC, so that part is fine.  The problem is that you most likely have multiple references to CD.Web.dll in the config file of your application... IE an additional reference was added to the <add assembly..../> tag in your web.config.
delete all <add assembly ../> tags from web.config except the one adding 11.5.3700.0
If you have more than one project in your solution, make sure there are no other versions of CD.Web.dll in those projects as well.

  • Crystal Reports 2010 shows error on 64 bit vista/7 machines

    Hello,
    <br/><br/>
I search the threads before posting my problem. I saw number of threads similar to this but none of them is pointing towards solutions to my problem. Thus decided to create new one. I tried various things listed in old post to solve my problem but no solution. I am listing below what I have already tried.
    <br/><br/>
    Following is my development environment:<br/>
    - OS windows XP 32 bit<br/>
    - MS Visual Studio 2010<br/>
    - Crystal Reports 2010 <br/>
    - windows application with target framework 3.0<br/>
    - when i build solution for client i change target platform to x86<br/>
    <br/><br/>
    My client machine<br/>
    1)<br/>
    - OS windows vista 64 bit<br/>
    - Crystal Reports for VS2010 Redist 64 bit<br/>
    2)<br/>
    - OS windows 7 64 bit<br/>
    - Crystal Reports for VS2010 Redist 64 bit<br/>
    <br/><br/>
On my development machine everything works fine. Only client machines having problem opening reports. I am having problem opening reports on client machines. I shows following error. My windows application runs fine but when we try to open reports it shows log4net error.

I tried adding reference of log4net in my app and then tried deploying. slight modified error. Instead of not find the file it says not able to load and rest error part is same.

I have excluded all crystal dll from publish file list and tried.

I found related to this in one of the thread. I am not sure but this could be the problem. what is the solution for it?<br/>
In my development machine windows/assembly folder, there exist 2 log4net files<br/>
    Assembly Name  -   version    -      Processor Architect<br/>
      - log4net           -    1.2.9.0      -    blank<br/>
      - log4net           -    1.2.10.0    -    x86<br/>
But in my client machine, there is only one log4net file.<br/>
    Assembly Name -    version     -     Processor Architect<br/>
      - log4net           -    1.2.10.0    -    AMD64<br/>
    <br/><br/>
I have spend lot hours on it but no output. Any help or direction is appreciated.<br/><br/>

    Hi deguri,
    1. Are you going to sell the application(which embeds the crystal runtimes) to another company?
    2. Is the application intended for users within your company?
If the answer to question 1 is a 'Yes', then you need to purchase the license.
If the answer to question 2 is a 'Yes', then you do not need the license.
Take a look at a question posted in response to the blog i referred to in my previous post. That is a typical scenario where license needs to be purchased.
We are product a client/server application in VS 2010 and would like to include Crystal Reports. The rendering/runtime would be on the server component. Our package is distributed to our clients and runs on their hardware. We would be producing the reports and shipping them with the software (i.e. no embedded designer).
Am I correct in understanding that we would need only a single SAP Developer Advantage license (~$2500 USD) and that would cover redistribution to all our our clients?
    Thanks in advance!
