Crystal Reports 2008 - Error deploying on Windows 7 64 bit

My reports will not display on a 64 bit Windows 7 computer.
I have a VB.NET app I wrote that used Crystal Reports XIR2 to display a number of reports. Everything has worked fine for a year or two, but now we're rolling out 64 bit Windows 7 computers and my reports will no longer display.
I've upgraded my Crystal Reports to the latest 2008, with SP2 and all hotfixes through 2.3.
I've updated the references in my project. And I've included the CRRuntime_12_2.msm merge module in my setup.
If I just install my updated install package, I get an error duing the install....
Module C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86\querypanel.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. Contact your support personnel.
If I install the CRRuntime_12_2_mlb.msi runtime package first, then install my updated install package, the install goes smoothly without error. But when I run my application and try and view a report I get two errors....
1) An error has occured while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. (I do not now what registry keys to check, but it was installed and run as an Administrator so it should have all the permissions it needs)
2) The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' threw an exception.
Please point me in the right direction to help me resolve this.
Thanks.

Hi;
I'm glad you got passed the install issue. There is a package that may have helped, see the article here:
[Install|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_dev/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233373334333333363339%7D.do]
For the first error, make sure to set your project to compile for 32 bit, rather than "any cpu".
Best Regards,
Jonathan

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - Error 1904 - DLLs will not register

    I have just tried to install Crystal Reports 2008 on a PC which is running on XP Professional 2002 (Service Pack 3) and none of the DDLs will register.  I have administrator privileges on the local PC.
    I could possibly try to register the DLLs manually but I don't understand why they won't register automatically.
    I would really appreciate some assistance with this.
    Kind regards, Leeanne

    Install .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0 and then any patches Windows has for them.
    Install the C++ runtime distribution from Microsoft, search MS's site for it, they have multiple links for each OS.
    Download the latest Microsoft installer, you can go to MS's web site to get it.
    Check with your IT department to make sure they have not pushed out a "modified" administrator Profile to your PC. Open up regedit.exe and confirm you can change any key in Current User and Software and anything. Be sure to copy the original so you can right the value back and the usual warnings about modifying the registry.
    Download CR 2008 SP1 full build: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006555792009E/cr2008win_sp1.exe ( requires and un-install of existing CR 2008 if any are on your PC )
    Before running CR 2008 Install SP 3: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123572010E/cr2008_sp3.exe
    You could also try Disabling DEP, right click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab and Data Execution Prevention and make sure it's set to windows Processes only. Requires a re-boot if changed.
    Disable any and all anti-virus and local firewalls, copy everything local and disconnect your network cable so you don't get anything nasty and try again.
    If none of the above works then try someone elses computer, your system may be beyond repairing and could require an FDISK and starting all over.
    Thank you
    Don

  • How to configure Crystal Reports 2008 and IIS7 and Windows Server 2008?

    I have downloaded and installed the trial for Crystal Reports 2008 on our Windows 2008 server.  I can open Crystal Reports on the server just fine, but I get HTTP 500 errors when I attempt to view a report hosted on that server via the web.
    As far as I can tell, the handler mappings in IIS7 are not configured properly, although I confirmed that the Crystal Reports 2008 install did add several handlers.  I read that I must configure the application pool to enable 32-bit applications.  I did that and am still getting the same error.  Documentation seems sparse and I've spent the better part of the day searching the forum here with no luck.  What am I missing?

    Don,
    Thank you for the quick response!
    We will ultimately be using ASPX/C#, but this simple case has a very basic report with no databind, just a single text label that reads "test succeeded" and I'm attempting to access it by direct URL (i.e. "http://192.168.99.21/crystalreportviewers12/test.rpt").  This works on our Windows 2000 server running Crystal Reports 8.
    I've also tested with a simple test.aspx file with only the line "Response.Write(System.DateTime.Now.ToString())" and that works just fine.  This file is in the same folder as the test.rpt file.
    If I leave the Application Pool set for the "Integrated" managed pipeline mode, I continue to get a rather generic "500 - Internal server error".  If I switch it to "Classic", I get the following error:
    Failed to Execute URL.
    Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 from 32 to 64 bit

    Visual studion 2008 applications (both asp.net and console application)  were created to run from 64 bit Windows service and use Crystal Reports 2008 ( We had to save reports as .txt and to do this upgraded to CR2008). However, applications run perfectly on 32-bit Windows servers after Crystal Reports SP2 runtime redistributable (CRRuntime_12_2mlb.exe),  but when we try to run it from 64-bit machine "Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly" error is thrown.
    We searched internet for answer, but found none.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi;
    You may have better luck posting to the right forum. Repost to the .NET development forum, found here:

  • Crystal Report 2008 error in generating existing reports

    HI,
    I have just now migrated my server from Win 2003, 32 bit to Win 2003, 64 bit. I was holding a valid license in the old server. Using the Product key and the registration number, I installed Crystal Report 2008 SP3 Build in the new server since Crystal report is supported in 64 bit version too. Now, while generating the existing reports from my application, I am getting error in event viewer as-
    "The description for Event ID ( 4353 ) in Source ( Crystal Reports ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The keycode assembly, BusinessObjects.Licensing.KeycodeDecoder.dll, cannot be loaded."
    Can someone please suggest me how to resolve this error? Actually, while opening the crystal report from application, a pop-up comes as - "Internet Explorer Script error......._pe is undefined......Do you want to continue with this? " If I say Yes/No, it opens up the required page but drop down does not contain any info and 'OK' or 'CANCEL' button does not appear....
    I need to solution ASAP. Please help.
    Thanks
    kmoondra

    Crystal report is supported in 64 bit version too
    Support on 64 bit OS does not necessarily mean that the product is 64 bit. E.g.; CR 2008 (12.x) is still only 32 bit. Only CRVS2010, CR 10.2 and CR 10.5 come in both 32 bit and 64 bit flavors.
    If you are using 32 bit Crystal Report, make sure your app is compiled as 32 bit, not "Any CPU". If you compile as "Any CPU" the 64 bit oS will want 64 bit runtime for the app by definition. This will fail as there is no 64 bit runtime for CR 2008. E.g.; follow the advice in Don's post.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Error Installing Service Pack 1

    Hello,
    I am trying to install Service Pack 1 for Crystal Reports 2008 on Windows 2008 Server as an adminstrator and I get the following error message:
    "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.  Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a fold containing the installation package "CrystalReports.msi" in the box below."
    Also, I have been unable to complete the registration wizard because I do not get a 10-digit registration number when I complete the registration process at www.sap.com/solutions/sap-crystal-solutions/productregistration .  I don't know if this problem might be causing the Service Pack 1 to not install.
    Thanks,
    Michele

    Hi Michele,
    Windows 2008 is not officially supported yet but it is for Vista and Windows 7 after SP 2.
    To get it to work uninstall first, make sure you keep your keycode and then download SP 3 full build:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    Then it should work.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - Error setting new datasource location

    Hi All,
    We are experiencing an issue while trying to set datasource location for our RM 3.0 reports in Crystal Reports 2008 designer. As per guide "SAP BusinessObjects Process Control 3.0 and Risk Management 3.0 - How to build and Personalize Custom Crystal Reports" (step 11), after opening the desire report we go to DataBase-->Set DataSource Location and when selecting our RM system (which actually has the BI content addon installed on it), we got the following error message:
    "Some tables could not be replaced, as no match was found in the new data source. Please verify the table required for any unmodified tables"
    I'm new on this so I'm not sure if the table indicated in the original datasource should exist in my DB (new datasource) before doing this? If so, how those tables are imported or created in our DB?
    Could you please help me on this issue?
    Please let me know if any other detail or data is required.
    Regards

    Hi Don,
    Thanks for the update.
    Actually I've installed SAP Integration Kit and its Fixpack in both....BOE Server (which is the same as the SAP server) and in client pc.  In all cases we have select a typical installation which supposes the required drivers are available. Also I've followed Ingo's documentation to activate and publish standard Risk Management reports (RM reports). Everything works ok with them. We are able to access reports through the application.
    The issue appears when trying to customize one of these standard reports through CR Designer. For example if we select the "GRRM_Risk_by_Risk_Category" and try to customize it as indicated in the "SAP BusinessObjects Process Control 3.0 and Risk Management 3.0 - How to build and Personalize Custom Crystal Reports"...the table behind this report (table GRFN_CY_API_GRRM_R1) it's not in our RM System. My main concern or question is regarding this....Did I miss something while importing transports files, activating or publishing RM reports, etc....and thatu2019s the reason why this (and any other) table is not already in my system? I was not able to find where those tables are supposed to be or how they should be imported in my system. The odd thing is...that we are trying to customize and set the new data source for these reports to the same system from where they are being opened. Put in this way...RM reports have been activated in system A (RM System) and published to system B (BOE System). While customizing reports through CR Designer...we are actually opening reports from system A. These reports have as their original data source...a demo SAP system info (uxcir1p.wdf.sap.corp) and when we want to update this data source with our RM system....the error appears. The whole process is explained in the above mentioned guide for your reference.
    Hope being clear enough..
    Thanks for your help

  • Consuming a Web service from Crystal reports 2008 - Error

    Hi,
    I want to consume a web service from Crystal Reports 2008. I created a New Connection using "XML and Web Services" and given WSDL url as the Web Service location. Crystal Report is able to connect to the WSDL and is displaying the tags correctly. When dragging the output to "Selected Tables' section, I am getting the following error:
    "Invalid Argument Provided"
    Details: Cannot support ArrayType input parameters.
    Kindly help. Apparently this was a limitation in CR XI but does it still exist in CR 2008? Is there any patch available to resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Jaya

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - ERROR when changing datasource

    Hi, I have a report that is connected to a test database that needs to have the datasource changed to the production database.
    The Crystal Report has 2 "on-demand" subreports that the datasource has been changed for as well.
    SQL 2000 Databases on 2 different servers (W2003) used the "Set Datasource Location" and followed steps listed previously in the forum.
    Databases have different names but all tables are same in both.
    Database Expert is showing all tables coming from new datasource BUT when report is run parameter prompt comes up, click ok
    Error message - "Failed to retrieve data from the database" - click OK
    Error message - "Invalid Argument provided"
    Does anyone have an ideas on how to track down the issues.
    Please let me know if you need any other information

    Ok answers below:-
    1. Crystal Reports 2008 Cersion 12.1.0.892
    2. Connecting via OLEDB
    3. Yes able to refresh newly created report without sub reports enclosed
    4. Didn't know that this could be done - this report was done for us by a consultant who doesn't know how to fix this issue and reckons there is a bug in Crystal
    5. Sub reports are accessed after main report is run (I think that means that they are linked)
    6. Not sure how to do this as am newbie to Crystal Reports and we are relying on the person that we contracted to write the reports to know what he is doing.
    Any help appreciated I will try to go into the sub report and unlink - think I have found out how to do this.
    Thanks for the help so far!!

  • Crystal reports 2008 not working on 64 bit OS

    Hello Everybody,
    I have developed crystal reports in CR2008. My development environment is 32 bit OS with visual studio 2005 and it is working fine. When I deployed  this applciation into 64 bit OS,application is working fine,but  reports are not working/displaying.
    Thanks
    Ram

    I moved your post to the .NET - SAP Crystal Reports forum. You'd never have gotten an answer on the CR Design forum
    More info needed:
    Exact version of CR (Help | About)?
    Web or win app?
    More details on:
    reports are not working/displaying
    Errors? Do you get the viewer? Or just an empty form?

    Hello,
    It's also been noted that an old version of Adobe Reader copied into the windowssystem32 folder. They have changed their ways but that old software did not clean it up. As well as McAffee also uses an older version.
    Search your PC for that file, is it in any folder?
    A test is to rename the one you find and copy the one from CR into that app's folder, reboot and test again.
    We have extensive discussions and post on this issue in the .NET SDK forum due to install issues for the runtime for Crystal Reports.
    See this thread for more info: Re: Installing CR for VS2010 throws 1904 Exception - fails to register many dll
    Bottom line is this set of dll's are for Encryption and there are updated versions. CR requires a recent version, older programs that have the dll loaded into memory do not have the new functions of the updated dll. Because of the way Windows works if a dll with the same name is in memory all applications can and will use it. They can't load another version, it's the way Windows works....
    CA resolved the issue by renaming their version of the dll because they too were putting their app in the PATH statement.
    Only other option is to report this issue to CREDANT and see if they can "fix" their version issue.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crashes in Windows 2003 terminal Services Session

    Hi,
    We installed Crystal Reports Server and Crystal Reports 2008 on a new Windows 2003 Small Business Server. Crystal Reports works when run at the physical console, but when accessed from Remote Desktop it crashes to the debugger when I try to:
    a) open an existing working report that uses SQL Server 2005 parameterized stored procedure,
    b) create a new report using any SQL Server 2005 parameterized stored procedure,
    c) access help.
    All the above work fine at the physical server but I need to access remotely using RDC.
    I log in as administrator, I have tried turning off DEP and I am running RDC via the mstsc command both without and with the  /admin switch to run in session 0 but there is still a difference between being at the physical console versus remote that CR does not like.
    More: I have to drive a long way to get to the server to try things locally.  For now, as a workaround, I have started crw32.exe at the physical server and I can use that when I log in via RDC - I just cannot start crw32.exe remotely and run it successfully. Also, when I do run remotely, I get the entire menu bar on startup with no start page, but running at physical server I get only the File, View and Help menus but I do get the Start page.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports COM Error

    I have a Crystal Report that I load and run from an ASP.Net Web Application. It works fine on my machine. However when the code is deployed to the servers, intermittently (does not happen everytime), I receive the following exception:
    System.IO.FileLoadException: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {XXX}  failed due to the following error: 8007045a.
    at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.CreateRptDoc()
    at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper..ctor()
    at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.Initialize()
    at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument..ctor()
    at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClass..ctor()
    When I search for this error I am not able to find the exact cause of the COM error 8007045a or the System.IO.FileLoadException. But many people have encountered other COM Errors with Crystal Reports and have suggested changing the Project properties -> Build -> Platform Target to x86 from 'Any CPU'.
    Is this indeed the action to be taken for the COM error 8007045a or the System.IO.FileLoadException too?
    One of the folks suggested the following: It is a low-level Windows error, not a COM error. The DllMain() entrypoint of one of the unmanaged code DLLs used by CR returned FALSE.
    Any suggestions here?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Don
    The CR version is Crystal Reports 2008 SP3.
    OS - Windows Server 2003
    IIS - IIS 6 (I am not entirely sure, but most likely it is IIS 6).
    Does it matter, if I instantiate the ReportDocument derived class on a separate thread. For e.g.
    Main Thread:
    MyReportClass rpt;
    Thread t1 = new Thread(InitRpt);
    t1.IsBackground = true;
    t1.Start();
    //perform some additional work
    t1.Join();
    Thread t1:
    rpt = new MyReportClass();
    rpt.FileName = "";
    rpt.Load();
    Also the BuildAction property for the report is set to Content.
    As an aside, I noticed another error on a different server:
    System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80000003): Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {D7F5D7C3-B06C-4CAC-BC47-A06E66D2EE9B} failed due to the following error: 80000003.
       at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper.CreateRptDoc()
       at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportClientDocumentWrapper..ctor()
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.Initialize()
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument..ctor()
       at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportClass..ctor()
    For this COM Error 80000003, I was able to search on SAP forums and locate the following:
    1. Some people have asked to re-register clientdoc.dll using regsvr32.
    2. Some people have suggested rebooting the server.
    3. Some have suggested running in 32-bit mode. I am not sure if this server is 64-bit or 32-bit.
    It would be great if you could help me with this one too.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Vikas

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crashes in Visual Studios Basic 2008

    I have Visual Studio 2008 Basic with Crystal Reports 2008 (Full) running on Windows 7 Pro - 64-Bit. I am running VS in visual basic runtime and I encounter this problem very frequently, however not all the time.
    What appears to be happening is when I have any one of my 11 solutions open and I try to open a crystal report, Visual Studio says that it has encountered a problem and needs to restart. This happens whether I am running the program as and administrator or not. After VS restartes and I open my solution again, I attempt to open the same report and it opens without crashing.
    This seems to be a direct problem with Windows 7 and crystal reports, because I never had this problem while developing these solution in Windows XP.
    ~Paul

    Make sure you have applied Visual Studio 2008 SP1.
    Make sure you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 applied (unless you are using datasets with date time fields, then apply SP1).
    SP 1 is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006555792009E/cr2008win_sp1.exe
    SP2 is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009038092009E/cr2008win_sp2.exe
    See if the updates help.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Crashes when opening File/Page Setup

    Post Author: jrm2byu
    CA Forum: General
    I am running Crystal Reports 2008 full version on Windows Vista. Every time I click on File/Page Setup, or File/Print the program will crash. There are no updates available for 2008. I also have Crystal Reports 8.5 and 10 installed on the same computer. Any ideas what might be causing this crash?

    I've got the same issue as well. Does anyone have a solution?
    A quick printing workaround was to export to a pdf and then print but now I actually need to modify my page dimensions.
