Crystal Reports 2008 from 32 to 64 bit

Visual studion 2008 applications (both asp.net and console application)  were created to run from 64 bit Windows service and use Crystal Reports 2008 ( We had to save reports as .txt and to do this upgraded to CR2008). However, applications run perfectly on 32-bit Windows servers after Crystal Reports SP2 runtime redistributable (CRRuntime_12_2mlb.exe),  but when we try to run it from 64-bit machine "Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly" error is thrown.
We searched internet for answer, but found none.
Can anyone help?

  • Crystal reports 2008 not working on 64 bit OS

    Hello Everybody,
I have developed crystal reports in CR2008. My development environment is 32 bit OS with visual studio 2005 and it is working fine. When I deployed  this applciation into 64 bit OS,application is working fine, but  reports are not working/displaying.
    Thanks

  • Can not use crystal reports 2008

    Hi All
I m not able to use crystal reports on windows server. I can use it everyehere  bt not on the server i dnt know if the problem is bcoz it's a 64bit machine or not.
    We are using .Net application.
    Thanks in advance.
    Anita

    Hi Anita
Crystal Reports 2008 doesnu2019t have 64 bit support or runtime hence you are getting the attached error.
To run the application with Crystal reports there are two workarounds:
    1. Run the IIS under 32 bit mode so that your application will use 32 bit Crystal Reports runtimes.
For this please do the steps mentioned below:
1.When compiling the application in Visual Studio .NET 2008 you will need to force it to 32 bit mode.
You can do this by right-clicking the project name in the Solution Explorer.
    2.For VB.NET
Click Compile, then Advanced Compile Options.  For the Target CPU drop down box, change it from "AnyCPU" to "x86" then click OK.
    3.For C#.NET
Click Build and change the Platform Target option from "Any CPU" to "x86".
Now follow the steps mentioned in the Kbase article from below link:
      http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894435
You should then be able to run the application on a 64 bit OS without error.
    The second workaround is
To change the references in your web application to CR 10.5 i.e. Crystal Reports basic for Visual Studio 2008. Crystal Reports 10.5 has the runtime for 64 bit machine.
    For this:
    1. Uninstall Crystal Reports 2008 from your machine.
    2. Run the set up file for Visual Studio 2008 (from CD or the installation source that you use).
    3. Click on Repair.
    4. From the list of components select Crystal Reports 10.5 and click on Next.
    5. After the repair is done you should be able to use the application using Crystal Reports.
    Hope this helps!!
                                                                                    Regards,

  • How is the best way to install the latest version of Crystal Reports 2008

I have been downloading for hours all the service packs, hot fixes, fix packs  and chasing my tail for way too long on this.
I keep getting errors about a file being out of sequence.... I assume there is a very loooooong list of fixpacks that need to be applied!!!    This is such a nightmare.
Is there a simple way to just install the latest version of 2008 Crystal Reports?
If I have to follow a long sequence of updates, is it written down anywhere?
The reason for this in the firstplace is because I moved to Visual Studio 2010  with .Net 4.0 framework and now none of my crystal reports work.
I am using the full version of Crystal Reports 2008 installation, not the one built into Visual Studio
    HELP!!!!!!

When I try installing SP2 it starts the update and just locks up... no errors... just sits there.  I let it sit for about an hour.
Is it compatible with Windows 7 ?
When I tried installing a fixpack, I kept getting errors that a file was out of sequence.   I will try uninstalling all of Crystal and just reinstall in this order:
    1. Crystal Reports 2008 from CD
    2. Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP2
    3. Install FixPack 2.6
This is what I tried the first time and got all the errors, but I will try it again...   is this correct?
(I don't need to install SP0 or SP1 or any other Fixpacks.... Correct?)

Please make sure the below information:
    1. If you are getting this eror message while opening Crystal Reports 2008 or Xcelsius 2008.
    2. If you are getting this error message for Crystal 2008, have you installed the Crystal Reports on a Citrix Server or a Terminal Server.
    3. Search if the Citrix/Terminal Server that you are using is supported or not.(You can check in the CR 2008 Supported Platforms PDF).

  • Crystal Reports 2008 - SAP B1 Integration

    Hi
I had received the CD from SAP which contained Crystal Reports 2008 Basic for B1.  The installation went very ok and i am able to Launch Crystal reports 2008 from outside SAP B1.  (Program File, Business One, Crystal 2008)
However, i do not see the SAPCrystalSetup.exe either in the CD i received or on the portal to download anywhere. (Which is used for integrating SAP B1 and Crystal report).  This utility according to the technical tips for installation mentioned in https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/011000358700000727712008E.htm will enable SAP B1 menu with Crystal reports integration sub menu options

My only guess is that there is some configuration I am not doing on the server. Can someone help me?

I think the frustration is coming more from the combination of lack of support for x64 (quite surprising for such an established product) combined with a site that's very difficult to navigate and use (the BusinessObjects site).
We ourselves have also just invested a great deal of time in building some Crystal Reports for a pilot system for a large US Insurance Company and cannot choose to avoid a 64-bit target server.  We deploy at the end of next week and though we can compile deliberately for 32 bit as outlined in your post, this causes all sorts of other issues with other assemblies we are using that are not binary compiled for a specific platform and that we cannot ourselves recompile.
To be concise, your posted solution is not really a solution unless a number of other assumptions are true that we all know in practical terms to be unrealistic for anything but the simplest of apps.
For us, pulling Crystal at this point is embarassing for the customer (they specifically requested that we use it) and for Business Objects, and creates a deadline crunch in our project plan as we convert to Telerik or some other x64 solution.
We will certainly follow up with phone support to see if there are other choices (doubtful), but given that you offer a trial version of Crystal 2008 I think it's remiss that there are no clear guidelines in a publicly-reachable forum that discuss in detail how to deploy completely to x64 including ensuring that other related issues to using a 32-bit compilation on x64 are mentioned/covered.  I certainly can see that even an advanced developer would continue to hold out hope that there is some configuration option combination that will work.
Finally, can you provide any guidance on when Crystal Reports will catch up to Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 and provide a 64-bit runtime?

  • Crystal Reports 2008 fails when called from e Web Service under 64bit OS

I have discovered that Crystal Reports 2008 doesn't work when called from a Web Service running under 64bit Windows platforms (in my case Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP 64bit); practically no object is instantiated. I've tried several solutions without success.
Before creating a wrapper component to use under COM+, is there anybody who has a better and cheaper solution than creating another component to wrap CR 2008 ?

    Hi Sergio,
Before I mark this post as assumed answered I would just like to say and re-iterate that at this time there is no one answer and we fully understand your concerns. As you know in CR 6.0 it came in 16 and 32 bit versions because at the time 32 bit was relatively new but 16 bit was the norm. This is also true for 32 to 64 bit, 32 is the norm and 64 bit is relatively new. We know and are well aware 64 bit is the future and we are working as quickly as we can to move in that direction. Because of the complexity of the Product it's not simply a matter of re-compiling all of our dll's in 64 bit format. The core of our data connectivity with our database drivers which are dependant on third party clients must also need to support 64 bit modes. This as well as Printer drivers also need to be 64 compatable, there are a multitude of dependencies that we rely on that must add 64 bit support. As a programmer you are well aware of the issues around Thunking back and forth between 32 to 64 bits, it can cause delays and potentially loss of data which is a whole other issue. Not to mention also that we would have to ship both versions potentially doubling the size of the distribution packages or doubling the size of the dll's to have the ability to work in both modes. Relatively speaking of course, it would not be double the size but the variables would need to be able to allocate 32 or 64 memory blocks.
The other option is to produce 2 separate versions, this alone is a massive project. Any issue would need to be fixed in separate code streams.
So I'm sure you can see it's not simply a matter of saying yes we support 64 bit. It's a massive project that is going to take time to do and we have to wait for the third party drivers to commit also.
Visual Studio .NET 2005 and 2008 is the only option if you want true 64 bit but you will be limited on what DB's you can support and export formats you can export to. They are the only drivers we did convert to 64 bit.
    Thank you for your understanding
    Don

  • Crystal report 2008 on a 64 bits machine

My company would like to develop a new .Net application which produce and view
some rountine crystal report on a 64-bits machine.
At the same time, this machine will also install a stand alone full product crystal report
2008 which allow to develope some adhoc report.
I would like to ask whether the full product crystal report 2008 can install and
run perfectly on a 64 bits machine. Do I need to have any special configuration during
    or after installation?
On the other hand, I observe that the crystal report 2008 with service pack 0 can
support 64 bits. Is it true that the evaluation copy of crystal report 2008
on official site is that version and I can evaluate it on a 64 bits machine ?

    Hi Ricky,
The full product Crystal Report 2008 can be installed and can run perfectly on a 64 bits machine.

  • CR2008 Not enough memory while exporting reports from Crystal Reports 2008

I have recently upgraded our Crystal Reports version from Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008 to Crystal Reports 2008. Can someone help me resolve the issue.

The .rpt file size is 14MB with the Data Save option enabled, 12MB without Data Save.  Presumably the 12MB file size is because of the 24bit PNG we have as our background.
The Designer executes the report in less than a second and we can scroll through all pages and see the image fields perfectly.
When we Export to PDF, the Designer takes a long time, eventually gets to the 77%, the 7th record and returns "Export report failed" followed by "Memory full".  If we export only page 1 of the 3 pages, it also returns a Memory full error.  However, when the same report is run with only 1 page, that page exports to PDF but with a ridiculously large size and export time.
The machine has 2GB of physical memory with an 8GB pagefile with Windows 2003 (latest everything).  The process runs up to about 1GB before reporting the memory full error.
We've also tried a variety of other suggestions posted in the other thread with no success.
We're happy to provide the RPT file to the Report Team to diagnose the problem.  Ultimately, we need to be able to produce a 15 page report with approximately 45 images.
Our preferred scenario is fixing problem 2.  The CR Designer seems quite capable of rendering our report and printing it to our third party PDF printer in a timely manner with small size.  However, the API reports memory full.
The API resides in a dedicated reporting web service with NO other code except for loading the report, setting parameters and printing.  When executing, it uses up to about 1.1GB before reporting the error.
Are there any other suggestions for fixing what we have?  Are there known problems with large images in reports?  Do we need to lodge a formal support request?
    Regards,  Grant.
PS.  Grr and my message formatting is lost when I edited this message!!!
There is a 1500 character limit and then all formatting is removed to save space. Break you posts into separate entries.
