Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 with Visual Studio 2005 help !!

Have application that uses reports developed using CR2008. The reports in question are created from an XML datasource and are populated at runtime with a dataset.
The reports work fine on developement machine but the client machines keep displaying the database login prompt.
What do I need to do to fix this

Something is not right here. If you are looking at assembly versions, then there are versions 12.0.200.0 and 12.0.1100.0 - framework 2 and framework 1.1 respectively. These do not change from SP to SP.
File versions do change. So, the assemblies for CR 2008, SP 3 would be 12.3.2000.601. Version 12.3.1100.601 is not familiar to me...
So, what libraries are you refering to? What is the version of the crpe32.dll?
BTW., sharing of log files is typically reserved for [phone|http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/en_US/pd/productID.98078100?resid=S6I@hgoHAkEAAGsiyVkAAAAR&rests=1282226845369] cases.

  • Crystal Report Dll problem with Visual Studio 2005

    I am using Crystal Reports with Visual Studio 2005. At one time there were two different version of Crystal Decision Dll in Global Assembly Cache (GAC). So I uninstalled both the versions and then only installed 10.2.3600.
    I am facing the following error when building my application in visual studio.
    The type 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument' exists in both 'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\arms website\301a5b02\e03ad7d9\assembly\dl3\c30f5560\00f92427_3857ca01\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.DLL'
    and
    'c:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine\10.2.3600.0__692fbea5521e1304\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll'
    I have only installed it in .Net Framework. For some reason it appears in the temp folder. I cannot delete it and when I renamed it after the next compile it came back again.
    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks for the tip.
    I installed CR XI R2 with SP2 and 2.1
    There are few reports in the system they use to run fine but now when I try to run them I get the following error:
    Failed to open the connection. Details: [Database Vendor Code: 4060 ] Failed to open the connection. C:\DOCUME1\SSheikh\LOCALS1\Temp\ZGA370 {71BFCD35-F652-48C8-896D-B93229A4D2C2}.rpt Details: [Database Vendor Code: 4060 ]
    I understand that these reports run ok independently and on production machine as well; however when I try to run them from my development machine I get the above error.
    I would appreciate help to resolve this. The code of the report is with report developer and I need to know what settings do I need to change where to be able to run the reports. Also I use my machine for deployment of application on the production server.
    Thanks.

  • Integrating Crystal Report 2008 Developer with Visual Studio 2008 Standard

    I have Crystal Reports 2008 Developer version 12.0.0.683 on my computer. I also have Visual Studio 2008 Standard. I know the standard edition of VS 2008 does not have the bundled crystal reports, but since I bought the full version of CR 2008 separately, I figure I should be able to use CR within VS 2008. The problem I am facing is integrating Crystal Reports with Visual Studio, so I can create reports from within visual studio.
    Crystal Reports was installed first and then Visual Studio. As per suggestions on this and other forums, I repaired my installation of Crystal Reports, but that did not help. I then ran Visual Studio integration manager, but when I run it, it only detects Visual Studio as the currently installed IDE, but does not detect CR 2008. I downloaded service pack 2 for CR, but have not installed it yet. I do not want to install it if it is not going to help. I would also like to avoid uninstalling my copy of CR if at all possible.
    I am a newbie at development in visual studio. Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rajib

    Don't want to go against what Jason said as it may be correct - if we go strictly by the documentation provided (sorry Jason, Dan says...). However, here is something to try;
    Uninstall CR. Look for any left overs; c:\program files\business objects\... and delete all of that.
    Look in the registry for HKLM\software\business objects and remove the business objects entry.
    Download CR 2008 from here:
    http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx
    That is a trial version and I believe it is already at SP 1. Use your keycode to install. Once this is done, you should have the ability to use CR in .NET. I'd recommend you do apply sp 2 now also.

  • Crystal Report X1 compatibility with Visual Studio 2008

    We are migrating an application running on .NET 1.0 to .NET 3.5. Previously Crystal report X1 was working fine with .NET 1.0 however now when it has been migrated to .NET 3.5, we are able to generate crystal report but print and export functionality is not working.

  • Embed flash(Xcelsius) into crystal report 2008 while using Visual Studio

    I am having some deep trouble with Crystal Reports 2008 and Visual studio. I have created a dashboard using Xcelsius 2008, embedded it in a report (along with flashvars) using Crystal Reports 2008.Then, I have added the .rpt file in a windows project in Visual Studio 2005. But the embedded swf file does not show in report designer in visual studio. And when I run the application the flash content is not displayed. However, when I export the report from the crystal report viewer toolbar to pdf format, I can see the flash content in the generated pdf file. Can anyone pls tell me how did you import the report file into visual studio so that the flash content shows up in the crystal report viewer.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    It's not clear what viewing mode you tested in?
    So to expand on AG's first line, the problem is in .NET IDE it uses the old CRViewer.dll for previewing reports from the Preview tab in .NET development IDE. This version of the viewer is for simple viewing only as it is old technology and does not support Flash files.
    Second the ActiveX viewer will not support Flash files, you must use the CrystalDecisions.windows.Forms viewer or HTML and you need to be on SP1, any version before SP1 did have issues.
    Compile and run your app in Release mode to verify if you can see the report as in CR Designer.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports 2008 crashes in Visual Studios Basic 2008

    I have Visual Studio 2008 Basic with Crystal Reports 2008 (Full) running on Windows 7 Pro - 64-Bit. I am running VS in visual basic runtime and I encounter this problem very frequently, however not all the time.
    What appears to be happening is when I have any one of my 11 solutions open and I try to open a crystal report, Visual Studio says that it has encountered a problem and needs to restart. This happens whether I am running the program as and administrator or not. After VS restartes and I open my solution again, I attempt to open the same report and it opens without crashing.
    This seems to be a direct problem with Windows 7 and crystal reports, because I never had this problem while developing these solution in Windows XP.
    ~Paul

    Make sure you have applied Visual Studio 2008 SP1.
    Make sure you have Crystal Reports 2008 SP2 applied (unless you are using datasets with date time fields, then apply SP1).
    SP 1 is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006555792009E/cr2008win_sp1.exe
    SP2 is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009038092009E/cr2008win_sp2.exe
    See if the updates help.

  • Using Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 with the Brother 9500PC, 9700PC, and P9800PC

    We have using Crystal Reports with the Brother Label printers for years until we were forced to use Crystal 2008.  The label printers have worked in the past and we usually create a label template in the printer driver and this configuration is stored in the Crystal Report.  These label printers can use several different size cartridges.  When creating a report using the Editor, the report displays and prints correctly using the template embedded into the report.  This is using the updated SP3.3 service pack.  The problem is in the Run Time application that is embedded in another application to run the reports.  When printing a label from the application, the report previews just fine with the correct size and format.  However, when you try to print the label, the run time driver ignores the template embedded in the report and instead uses the default settings for the printer driver.  So, if I have a 1 inch cartridge in the printer, and the default settings for the printer is a 1 1/2 inch cartridge, then the report will try to print assuming there is a 1 1/2 inch cartridge which will cause the application to fail.  This is a problem with Crystal 2008 (12) and we would like to find a solution to this.  Thanks, Doug

    Hi Cameron,
    You can setup custom label sizes in Crystal.  In the folder where you installed Crystal Reports is a text file called Labels_en.txt.  This contains the label definition Crystal uses.  You can add a new label in here.
    Now when you open Crystal and create a new report by selecting the Mailing Label Repotr Wizard, you will see your new label when you get to that step.
    When save a report, the report will do two things.  If you have set the report to a specific printer, Crystal saves the printer and paper settings inside the RPT.  When the print engine runs the report, if it can't find the printer saved in the report it will default to the default printer.
    What I believe is happening is the application is loading the report and because it can't find the label printer it was designed with it's going to the default printer.  So you do have to set the PrintReportOptions in your application to redirect the report to the correct printer, driver and papersize.
    This has pretty much been the way since version 4 that I can remember.  The positive side is you don't have to set all the parameters yourself.  You can get the PrintReportOptions from the report when you open it.  Then you just need to pass the printer name, driver and port.  The rest of the options (papersize) will already be populated from the Get.
    Good luck,
    Brian

  • Report Selection Formula Error with Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5

    Hello,
    My name is Carlos, and I would like to report a defect found in the Crystal Reports 2008 SP 3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime that is affecting the majority of our reports.  As well, I would like to ask if there is a simple workaround that does not involve updating hundreds of reports.
    The issue is that the runtime engine incorrectly returns the report selection formula.  I have included sample code showing what I mean.
    To reproduce;
    1. Create a simple report that has a date range filter like:
      ({Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE})
      AND ({Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE})
    2. Create a test app as follow that loads a report using the following code:
    ReportDocument rpt = null;
    try
      rpt = new ReportDocument();
      rpt.Load("TestReport.rpt");
      this.txtMessage.Text = string.Format(
        "ReportSelectionFormula:{0}{1}",
         Environment.NewLine,
      rpt.RecordSelectionFormula);
    catch (Exception ex)
      this.txtMessage.Text = ex.ToString();
    3.  Install Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Fix Pack 3.5 Runtime [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006341772011E/cr2008fp35_redist.zip]..
    4.  Execute the app.
    At this stage, the screen shows
    ReportSelectionFormula:
    (   (  NOT  {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE}  )   AND   (  NOT  {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE}  )   )
    The expected value is:
    ReportSelectionFormula:
    (   (  {Orders.Order_Date} >= {?START_DATE}  )   AND   (  {Orders.Order_Date} <= {?END_DATE}  )   )
    If we were to repeat the same test above but use the Crystal Reports 2003 SP3 runtime (i.e. no Fix Pack), which can be dowloaded from [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100007123592010E/cr2008sp3_redist.zip], we would get the correct report selection formula. A side-effect for this incorrect report selection formula is a runtime exception complaining about an errorkind and a boolean being expected.
    Do you know if there is any workaround that I can apply in code, perhaps a different Fix Pack?  Is there a Fix Pack expected to be released soon?  It is not practical for us to update our reports and use a different style in the record selection formula because we have many such reports, and our customers probably have even more.
    Thank you.
    -Carlos.

    Already a known issue, here's the [KB 1584095 - A boolean NOT is added at the beginning of a record selection formula when the report is loaded by the Crystal Reports .NET SDK |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533383334333033393335%7D.do]

  • Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Additional parameter values are needed

    I recently upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008 SP3, and now when I try an export a report from the Crystal Reports Designer, I get the error "Additional parameter values are needed before this report can be saved or viewed with data.  Click 'Ok' to enter the missing values or 'Cancel' to proceed without data".  I am trying to export the report to Crystal Reports format.  The report is getting data from a MS SQL 2005 stored proc. I tried building a new simple report (just took all the fields in the result set and put them in the details section) using the same stored proc, and get the same error when I try to export.
    FYI, before I try to export I always preview the data in the report, so the parameters are defiantly set correctly.
    This was working correctly in Crystal Reports 2008 SP2.

    Please re-post if this is still an issue or purchase a case and have a dedicated support engineer work with you directly:

  • Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and BO XI 3.1 conflict

    Hi every body,
    We have a BOE system:
    BO XI 3.1
    Oracle db 10g
    All running successful and can create some types of WebI report.
    But we also want reports with Crystal Report.
    1> So we install Crystal Report 2008 SP3 (without knowing the conflict error between BO XI 3.1 and Crystal Report 2008 SP3 and overwrite some .dll file). After installing, we can not create WebI report any more. And a error message box display: "DBDriver failed to load: C:\Program File\Business Objects\BusinessObjects ENterprise12.0\win32_x86\dataAccess\connectionServer\dbd_oci.dll ".
    2> We uninstall Crystal Report SP3. But this is not the solution. Still error because of missing .dll files.
    3> We open BO XI 3.1 setup and repair BO XI 3.1. Even we uninstall BO XI 3.1, delete all of its components and delete in regedit key. We install BO XI 3.1 again. Now we have full .dll file, not missing them any more. But when we open universe and click on Table browser, cannot fetching any tables.
    We set rights for Oracle DB user again. But still error: cannot fetching.
    4> We searched the solution for this problem on the internet. But not worked, no answer.
    Can somebody help me bring back the BOE system state again ? pls   :"<
    T______T

    Hi Paul,
    I hope I read your question right!
    Yes, It is possible to run XIR2 and 3.1 on the same server although it's not recommended by BO. You will need to make sure they are both pointing to different CMS databases and different FRS repositories, like you already mentioned you will need to specify different ports for the CMS db and Tomcat.
    Why not uninstall Business Objects XI R2 in your BO development environment or a spare server (if you have one), and do a clean install of XI 3.1 SP3.
    Tip: If you were already having performance issues with your XI R2 environment, I would seriously consider upgrading the hardware. XI 3.1 needs a bit more RAM and CPU than XI R2

  • Crystal reports 2008 sp3 : An error has occurred while attempting to load t

    Hello,
    Please forgive me for posting in the CR .NET forum because we are using the full Crystal Reports 2008 product and I did not see a category for it.  If there is a better forum for this question, please let me know or feel free to move it.
    We are having trouble deploying our crystal reports 2008 reports to a Windows Server 2008 R2 server in an aspx application...
    I have been working on this issue for 4-days and cannot seem to make any progress, so I would really appreciate your help.
    Our Environment:
    Development Computer (32-bit, WinXP)
      VS2008 (fully updated, was not installed with its Crystal Reports feature)
      Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 (downloaded and installed "cr2008_sp3_fullbuild")
    Database Server (64-bit)
      "SERVER2" is a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 server, fully updated
    Web Server (64-bit)
      "SERVER3" is a Microsoft Server 2008 R2 Web server.
    We have an application that is installed on the Web server and it pulls data from the database server.
    The webpages are accessing the database properly.  There is a ShowReport.aspx webpage that has the
    CrystalReportsViewer on it.  We send parameters and logon information to ShowReport.aspx.  ShowReport
    works properly on our development computer and the report looks good, but it fails on the web server.
    We downloaded CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi (X86) from SAP/CR and installed it on the web server without any issues.
    Our application pool on the web server for this application is set to 32-bit mode.  When I launch the
    application, it works properly with the database and displays data on web pages, but when I try to
    view a report on ShowReport, I get the following error message:
    An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.
    Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
    Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) that contains the version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium)  that is required.
    According to everything that I have read, I have properly matched the DLLs: On the development computer, "cr2008_sp3_fullbuild" was installed; On
    the web server, "CRRuntime_12_3_mlb.msi (X86)" was installed.  They are both Crystal Reports 2008 and not .NET.  CR.NET was not installed on our development computer, so our application was built with full Crystal Reports 2008 SP3.  On our development computer, .ENGINE is 12.0.2000.0 and
    the same version is on the web server.
    So, I am completely at a loss as to why we are encountering this error.  Help, Please!!!
    Thank you in advance,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    Did you set your project for X86 mode only? If not do so and rebuild and deploy your app.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Error while trying to install Crystal Reports 2008 SP3

    Has anyone else come across this error before when running the SP3 update installer;
    Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 Update is not allowed to install because a patch with a higher version was detected.
    The installation then terminates.  There has been nothing installed on this server to do with Crystal, aside from CR2008, SP1 and then the attempt at SP3.
    ANY help appreciated
    Edited by: Ludek Uher on Aug 18, 2010 2:07 PM

    Priyanka,
    I'm already extremely annoyed that a new server build requires installation of CR2008, then SP1 before SP3 will even allow installation.  Adding SP2 into the mix just makes it seem like none of the developers tested anything (which I'm seeing from just about every software company I deal with these days).
    Besides, the 'SAP Business Objects Support Software Downloads' page no longer lists SP1 or SP2 as available downloads, so I'm going to have to try Don's solution first.
    Regards.

  • Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 - "u25azalea.dll" missing

    We have installed Crystal Reports 2008 SP3 on our application server.
    Windows Server 2008 R2  Standard
    64-bit operating system
    1. I create a Report and choose a field for barcode
    2. Right-click on a that field and choose u201CChange to barcodeu201D
    3. I choose "Code39" in the list
    4. I change the font of the field to "Barcode EAN13"
    5. It shows correctly in Crystal design/preview mode.
    6. When I try to run the report from our windows application this message appear: "UFL 'u25azalea.dll' that implements this function is missing"
    7. I download the file from http://www.azalea.com/crystal-reports/
    8. I copy the file "u25azalea.dll" into the path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise     12.0\win32_x86
    8. It still shows the message!
    What should I do?

    Hello,
    No need to select #3 if you are going to change it to #4. Just edit the field and select your barcode font. You only need that file if you use the Code 39 font.
    Odd though that it asked for that ufl. Look for it on your local PC and copy it over, could be the one you downloaded is an older version.
