  • Crystal Reports 2011 Upgrade edition not installing

    Hi, I bought Crystal 2011 upgrade on Friday and have been trying to install it. It seems to complete the installation but in the end I get this error message after clicking on Finish button.
    Missing installdir reg key for installiverse, required for uninstall.
      Key: SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Installer\aurora
      Value: Path
    Checking the Crystal Directory under Program Files showing only Chart Support subdirectory.
    Need some help with this issue.

    1. Download the latest version of the installation package for Crystal Reports 2011. To verify the version of extracted package, open productid.txt file located at: {installation package}\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\.
    Make sure it is not less than 14.0.2...
    2. Where to download Crystal Reports 2011 installation from: - free trial from SAP Online shop http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx - from SDN Community page http://service.sap.com/sap/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm - from Service Market Place http://service.sap.com/sbop-downloads Note: downloads from all above listed locations are fully functional product installations. Trial version defined by expiring key code, not by functionality limitations.
    3. Copy the installation package to a hard drive if possible to avoid any networking issues.
    4. Login to the machine as Local ADMINISTRATOR.
    5. Temporary disable any kind of firewall, antivirus, network security etc., if possible.
    6. On the latest versions of Windows, even if logged in as local Administrator, right-click the setup.exe and select "Run as Administrator". If do not have Administrator account, right click "Run as" Select current user and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity".
    7. Make sure there is enough space on the computer. If not sure about the space, run "Custom" installation with minimum components. Non-mandatory components could be added at any time.
    8. Finally, if there is an existing "InstallData" folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects rename it to "InstallDataOLD"

  • Crystal Reports 2011 Upgrade Error

    Hi,
    I have just purchased the upgrade from CR2008 to CR2011 and receive the following message during the installation
    "This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information"
    Any suggestions on how I go about getting this resolved?
    Thanks.

    Have a look in you User\temp folder, the installer will generate a log file and should inidcate how far it got and possibly what the problem was.
    Also look at the very first Sticky post in this forum. It has a lot of info on requirements before installing.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 Demo Install Error

    Downloaded the trial of Crystal Reports 2011 today (installer says it is SP2) and it will not install.  Searched the forums and the 'net and not finding anything that appears to be applicable to my situation, so here goes:
    Windows 7 64-bit Pro SP 1, all updates
    Crystal Reports 8.5 and 9.2 installed
    Visual Studio 2010 Pro with all updates
    RAD Studio XE2 with latest updates
    Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010
    I run the setup as an admin, Windows 7 compatibility checked, etc. as suggested in other posts.
    I am getting a Visual C++ runtime library error "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."
    I get this initially when the installer says "Installing Deployment Unit:" and the unit listed is:
    tp.microsoft.vcredist-7.1-core-32,14.0.0.760
    I have a screenshot, but the above gives relevant information.  If I click OK on the error, I will continuously get it for all other files and then get the pleasure of getting it again when I cancel the installation.  We have been considering moving to SSRS, but wanted to give the 2011 Crystal a shot since we have several hundred reports developed in it.
    Thanks in advance for any help and apologies if I missed something in my searching.  Any ideas??

    Hello,
    First thing is CR 8.5 is not side by side compatible, so uninstall it. I don't see this causing install issues but just an FYI...
    I assume you downloaded it from the Trial version Page then or was it in Service Market Place?
    SP 2 is both Full and Incremental so I'll start the download and test also. It may be they linked to the wrong file.
    How big was the file you downloaded?
    Also, have a look at this post: SAP Crystal Reports 2011: Error INS00140 and other install errors , there may be something going on with one of those MS Kbases causing the issue, or could be something new.
    I checked with the PM for Cr 2011 and there should be both incremental and a full build available, possibly they did link it to the wrong one...
    Thanks again
    Don
    Oh and check that you have .NET 2.0 to 4.0 Framework installed, CR requires is.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 Installation Issue, key code not valid

    Folks,
    We have just purchased two licenses for the Crystal 2011 upgrade from DigitalRiver.  The installation completes successfully, using one of the two "digital rights" keys that were provided in the confirmation email from DigitalRiver.
    Upon launching Crystal Reports 2011 for the first time, though, we are being prompted with a License Manager window asking to add a key code for Crystal Reports.  We enter the "digital rights" key provided by DigitalRiver, the same one used during the installation [copy and pasted from the email for accuracy] and receive the error message "The key code you just typed is not valid, please try again."
    Canceling this window or clicking Ok simply closes the Crystal Reports application.
    Any assistance in how to get the application running would be helpful.
    Tested Environments:
    Windows 7 Professional SP1, 32bit
    Visual Studio 2010 w/ CR for Visual Studio 2010 installed
    Windows Server 2008 R2, 64bit
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Follow-up:
    We went through several iterations of installation and finally decided to mix things up to see if we could get a different response from the software.  The items that we performed differently were as follows:
    1.  Ran the setup.exe as administrator [even though we have full admin access as the logged in user]
    2.  Hand typed the digital rights key rather than cut/paste from the email
    3.  Performed a custom installation rather than the default and de-selected all of the SAP and other software integration options.
    The software ran fine without prompting with the License Manager.
    My guess is that it was the removal of the integration pieces that allowed the application to run.  We'll perform our next install with just that change and see if it is the culprit.

  • Merge files or redist installer for Crystal Reports 2011

    I cannot find packages for merge files or installer for the redistribution files for Crystal Reports 2011. I have found them only for older versions. In the download section there is somewhere a hint that they are at a different position but no information where.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you
    Arne Ortlinghaus

    Hi Don,
    thank you. It is ok using the files you indicated me. But there are still some doubts.
    What does happen on a machine where a designer 2011 (internal version 14) is installed and an application that uses the dlls for Visual Studio 2010 (internal version 13). Does this work without problems?
    In a readme for the redistributables for Visual Studio 2010  I have found the following text which I cannot interprete:
    If you have installed Crystal Reports 2011 or any of the SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 products,
    you may notice that their installation contains the same "Crystal Reports 2011" and "SAP
    BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0" folders as you see in this folder.  Please note that the
    folder/files names may be the same but most files have a different version, and are not
    compatible with the Crystal Reports 2011 or SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 products.
    Currently we want to upgrade our programs from Crystal Reports 9 to 2011 and we have many installations where for one machine the Crystal Reports Designer is needed together with our applications.

  • Crystal reports 2011 installation INS00140 "Invalid KeyCode" error.

    I just purchased and downloaded the latest Crystal Reports 2011 (SP02) version and I am getting the infamous INS00140 Invalid KeyCode error.  I have read and tried all the solutions that I could find in this forum, and some more quasi-solutions found on the web:  I have tried the installation on 2 different XP  workstations and even on a Windows 2003 server platform, TO NO AVAIL.
    I have now spent a week 'Fiddling'  around with this, and I am not IMPRESSED.  Is there a REAL solution to this, anyone? I am not spending another week mucking around with this , and I need to know who to contact to get this RESOLVED...please.

    Hello,
    It is the crypt*.dll causing the problem. Some older program installed it into the system32 folder which is not MS Certifiable now. I found older versions of Adobe Reader put it in the \system32 folder but there may be others also.
    What is in your PATH statement?
    The problem is the version CR installs will be about 1.2 meg, older versions do not have the updates Cr requires and because what ever program is using it it's in memory so CR uses it which causes the install to fail. SP 3 I believe will have a fix from RSA and it will either be renamed and/or not sure what they are going to do to it to fix compatibility issues with older versions.
    You could try just using the defaults in both the System and User:
    PATH=C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;
    Copy your path from the System Environment variables and then change it to something like the above and try again. Once Cr is installed then name it back. Problem is if that program that does need it runs first CR is going to break when trying to start it up. If that happens and it installs then try renaming the one in the \system32 folder and copy CR's in it's place. Change the PATH back and then re-boot and it may work. I believe the files is common for all and backward compatible so what ever program is using it should work with the one from the CR folder.
    I'll pass this onto one of the guys here who is looking after these install issues and see if he has any more suggestions.

  • Upgrade from crystal report 8.5 to crystal report 2011

    Hi All,
    Currently we are using crystal report 8.5 (PEAPI and dictionary files) (with VB6) to generate historical data for our product. Reports can have millions of records. We are using 2-tier architecture ( our client resides on windows machine and database
    - Oracle10g dedicated server- resides on linux server).
    We are planning to upgrade it to CR2011(with .NET)
    My understanding is :
    Crystal report designed in SAP Crystal Report 2011/SAP Crystal Reports(version for Visual Studio 2010)/.NET SDK for CR2011 and developed in VS2010 will use Crystal Reports(version for Visual Studio 2010) runtime.  Please comment.
    Is there  any way to use PE APIs in Crystal report 2011 ? If not which is the best way to upgrade  ?
    Please comment.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Hello,
    Not sure which viewer you are using, should be CR.Windows.Form and in code using RAS ( Report Application Server ) you'll get these options which are now controllable by you to allow all or just some:
    private void ViewReport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
        rptClientDoc = rpt.ReportClientDocument;
        //crystalReportViewer1.ShowProgressAnimation(false);
        crystalReportViewer1.ShowGroupTreeButton = false;
        crystalReportViewer1.EnableDrillDown = false;
        //rpt.Refresh();
        crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = rpt;
        // next line causes a delay due to the engine having to go to the last page.
        //rpt.FormatEngine.GetLastPageNumber(new ReportPageRequestContext());
    // set up the format export types:
    int myFOpts = (int)(
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RptFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.PdfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RptrFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.XLSXFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.CsvFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.EditableRtfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelRecordFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.RtfFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.WordFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.XmlFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelFormat |
        CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.ExcelRecordFormat);
        //CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.NoFormat); // show no export types
        //int myFOpts = (int)(CrystalDecisions.Shared.ViewerExportFormats.AllFormats);
    crystalReportViewer1.AllowedExportFormats = myFOpts;
    Only change is the Excel Export formats have changed, and no option to use the old Excel types available in CR 8.5. Search Kbase for Exporting to Excel, there is a great article on how to optimize your reports for best output.

  • How to automatically/programmatically "publish" reports for local users of Crystal Reports 2011?

    Hi,
      I'm not sure if I'm using the correct Crystal Reports terminology here, so apologies in advance.
      We've got Crystal Reports 2011 and are developing an application which comes with a number of report files (.rpt) as part of its installation. These reports are used to provide a view onto the database that our application writes to.
      Is it possible to automatically manage the collection of reports that are available to users of the Crystal Reports application? Ideally this would be done as part of our application's installation/upgrade procedure. In the case of upgrades, it is possible that some report files may be modified, some removed and others added. (i.e. as the application database's underlying schema is modified or new features added/deprecated).
      I believe this could be achieved manually by starting up Crystal Reports and adding and removing reports to/from the Workbench, but we'd like this list of reports to be available to all users on the PC (Crystal Reports is installed on the same PC as our application), and for the update procedure to be something that was automatically scriptable or programmable in something like .NET.
      I've read about the Repository (which sounds like a solution to making reports available for all users), but suspect that this is only usable after some other product(s) has been installed? I'm not entirely sure what products they would be.
      Could you please let us know whether this can be achieved with the version of Crystal Reports we've got, and if so, how?
      The version of Crystal we have is: SAP BusinessObjects, CR Developer, Version 14.0.4.738 RTM, Product Type: Full
      Many thanks in advance,
        -Nige

    CR 2011 does not install any SDK... You can however download SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio, which is an SDK that will let you work with VS 2010 and 2012.
    You will then have to decide if you want to use the Crystal Reports SDK or the InProc RAS SDK.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 getting An unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32

    I am using Crystal reports 2011 with windows XP. I am getting the error message "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe"  I have seen the resolution for this at ""Unhandled win32 exception occurred in crw32.exe [2920]."" but this does not work either. I have added every possible .exe to not use DEP, that I could find in the Business Objects folder. The Business Objects folder is the correct folder. There is not any other folder in "Program Files" that is related to Crystal Reports. Can anyone help with this. I have come to the conclusion that the only solution is to switch to DevExpress Reports. Don't want to have to but, I have customers who are expecting working reports. I am using a MySQL database with version 5.1 ODBC driver. Another developer has Vista operating system running the same version of Crystal Reports, same database and ODBC driver and it works fine for him. Please don't say upgrade to Vista because the majority of my customer base is using XP. I would appreciate if someone could share some incite here. Thank you in advance.

    Hello,
    First thing is to download 5.3 DataDirect Drivers.
    DEP is not a problem as of CR XI R2 SP6 and CR 2008 SP 2.
    When are you getting the error when opening Crystal or at some other click?
    Check your Anti-virus software, it will block access to dependencies CR requires or access to the Registry.
    Look in your AV logs to see if it's logging that it's blocking access to something.
    Also, CR 2011 requires Windows XP SP3.
    And if you have not downloaded SP1 or SP 2 try uninstalling CR and then without running CR between installs complete them first and then try again.
    AND you must be a local PC Administrator to install.

  • Crystal Reports version upgrade:  Which product?

    These are the versions of Crystal Reports we are currently using with Visual Studio 2005 (.Net Framework 2.0):
    The reports are designed using the SDK on the developers workstation (outside of Visual Studio).
    The reports are generated from the web servers.
    Crystal Reports .NET Developer XI Release 2  (build 11.5.0.31327)
    (this package includes Crystal Reports XI Release 2 .NET 2005 Server for limited server installs)
    We want to upgrade to the latest versions compatible with Visual Studio 2010.
    We want to continue generating the reports on the web servers.
    Which product should we order that is the equivalent of the version we currently have but compatible with Visual Studio 2010?
    Thank you.

    I appreciate your response.
    There seems to be several different flavors/variations of Crystal Reports both in the past and currently.
    We just want to be sure that the newest one is the equivalent of the flavor we have currently:
    Crystal Reports .NET Developer XI Release 2 (build 11.5.0.31327)
    (this package includes Crystal Reports XI Release 2 .NET 2005 Server for limited server installs)
    Is Crystal Reports 2011 the equivalent of the version we are currently using?
    Does it come with limited server Crystal engines for the web servers without licensing issues?
    Again...Thanks.

  • Crystal Reports 2011 cannot see Excel 2007 as an export type

    I just installed/updated to cr2011.  Installation went fine, and i did not get any problems. I am able to run all my previous reports, and if i makes chamges to a report and save, i do get asked "do you want to save it with the latest report format"
    My version is 14.0.2.364RTM
    When i click export, i do not see EXCEL 2007 or any other new types, i know are included for cr2011.
    Is there anything else i need to download ? cr2011 runtimes ? or remove or configure ?
    thanks

    Abhilash, thank you.
    I have another quick question, and if i need to open a new post i can.
    I have CRD by ChristianStevenSoftware, which we use to automate and schedule/deliver our reports.
    When i upgraded to cr2011, i was told by CristianSteven software, that i had to select the correct CRYSTAL RUNTIMES.
    They have a gui to use for the user to "Chang Crystal Version".  when i used it, i was presented with a dialog box, which
    had Crystal Reports 2011(13.xx) as the latest.  I slected this option as i assumed they though 13.xx was correct for 2011( i know 14.xx is what i have installed.
    Anyway i did not get an error when upgrading to 13.xx, but when i started CRD, i got an error.
    The CRD developer says :-
    The install that is in the picture looks like the installation of the crystal reports 2011 applicaton,
    not the runtimes. The runtimes should be a seperate installation, please let me know if you
    see any installations under add/remove programs that is labeled:
    --SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4
    That should be the name showing for the 2011 runtimes. If you cannot find it in the add/remove programs, you should be able to download the runtimes from the SAP.Com website.
    I do not see SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4
    Can i download them from SAP site as he suggests ?
    Thanks in advance, John

  • Crystal Report 2011 compatibility with dot net 1.1

    Hi,
    WE have a .dot net application in framework 1.1 where we were using crystal reort 9. we are now upgrading to crystal reports 2011 .
    1) is crystal reports 2011 runtimes compatable with dot net 1.1
    2) Where can i find the runtimes for crystal reports 2011. for this i was ealier given a Visual studio 2010 crystal reports runtime. ths file was called CRRuntime_32bit_13_0_1.msi. but when i install this it has a readme file which says the following.
Please note that the
    folder/files names may be the same but most files have a different version, and are not
    compatible with the Crystal Reports 2011 or SAP BusinessObjects XI 4.0 products.
    the way i am reading this seems that the runtime i have is not the one i want for Crystal reports 2011
    Thanks
    Ravinder Akkaraju

    A bit of a historical review;
    VS2010 came out
    We created a version of CR that integrates with VS2010. This is Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 (v 13.x), also refered to as CRVS2010
    At a later time CR 2011 was released. This version has no SDK.
    However, any report created in CR 2011 can be run with CRVS2010, as well as the CR 2008 (v. 12.x) runtime.
    As CRVS2010 is for VS2010 only, and VS2010 does not support framework 1.1, CRVS2010 does not support framework 1.1
    If you want to use report create in CR 2011 with framework 1.1 based application, you will need to obtain CR 2008 which will install the correct runtime.

  • Crystal Report 2011- SAP Data Sources: CL - no items found

    Background:
    SAP ECC 6.0 was purchased three years ago with DSD package. Only FI and SD modules are in use. Accounts download data filesfrom SAP to produce spreadsheet reports. Few user trust these numbers. We are setup as "SAP in the Cloud" model- Listening to constant user complaints, it seems SAP is broken. Interim solution: Crystal Report for everyone.
    Encouraged by Ingo Hilgefort papers and Crystal Report Forum:
    We decided to deploy Crystal Report 2011 and Business Object XI 3.1 with SP4 for our small user community. These software are installed on local XP laptop and Business Object XI 3.1 installed in the SAP server as well.
    Problem Description:
    The desktop user cannot see SAP infosets or tables contents. When connect to the data sources. After user login, she can navigate to expand the data source CL.- displays "no items found ". I can reproduce this error. Using the Crystal Report wizard and selecting various data sources such as: SAP Table, Cluster and Functions: CL, DD and FN category only DD and FN display items.
    Current Environment: SAP in the Cloud.
    SAP Server::ECC 6.0 EhP3 dual stack. Database MSSQL, OS 2008 Server, Business Object Intergration Kit 3.1, Remote Acces VPN.
    Desktop Environment: Crystal Report 2011: SP1, Business Object Xi 3.1, XP SP3
    Surprise: Clicking on either DD and FN tab inside the connector window in Crystal- it expands and displays tables and content reference but not CL.
    Questions: Do we have to move to EhP5 for the CRX 2011 to work ? What is wrong: ? Any help will be appreciated?
    This question is for Ingo H. How to convince SAP hosting company otherwise to solve our problem ? Is is desktop problem or Host side configuration ?

    Ahmad
    K900687 is Open SQL Connectivity transport and required for direct SAP tables connectivity, so you need it, but I am not sure if the warning message relevant to your problem. Sometimes warning is just a warning.
    You can see other objects in DD, but not in CL, it means the connection works. You probably do not have required authorisations to see objects.
    I would suggest to review the Authorisation section of SAP Integration Kit Installation Guide here:
    [http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700000559912010E/xi31_sp3_bip_sap_inst_en.pdf ]
    You may also check what is the differences between DD and CL in terma of authorizations.
    If you think CR 2011 is broken, then test CR 2008. Is still available for free 30-days trial download here:
    [http://www12.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx]
    , but you would need to add SAP Integration Kit to it.

    You want to make sure that the "path" key is pointing to the valid path for the keydecoder.dll. The correct path to the DLL should be: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x8keydecoder.dll.
    Uppercase License Key
    In addition to the above, you need to make sure that you are entering the license key in all uppercase characters. There is a current issue with the installer where it does not accept lower case characters.
    Fix - Coming in SP02, but can implement manually for now
    Locate the BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config file in the <install package directory>\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core-32\actions
    (replace crystalreports with crystalreportsjava for CR for Ent and xcelsius for dashboards)
    Open BCM-4-0.dll.2.Config
    Locate this line:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.1434" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
    Modify the oldVersion number to make the line like this one:
    <bindingRedirect oldVersion="8.0.50727.0-8.0.50727.4053" newVersion="8.0.50727.4053" />
    This should allow you to install without issue.
    Further Troubleshooting
    If none of the above helps to resolve the issue, then we need the following:
    The installation logs from the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Local Settings\Temp\<DATE OF YOUR LAST ATTEMPTED INSTALLATION>
    The results from attempting to run the keycode validator directly. You can find it under the folders that contain the installation package. For example, C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\My Documents\CrystalReports2011\DATA_UNITS\CrystalReports\dunit\product.crystalreports-4.0-core 32\actions\isKeyCodeValid.exe -keycode <YOUR KEYCODE> -version 140 -property CR.EnableCR
    You should submit a new forum post with relevant details about the error and provide links to download the logs generated by following the above steps.

    Then try these:
