Crystal Reports 8.5 availability?

Hello,
My company recently purchased Crystal Reports XI Professional, and I am greatly enjoying using the program and the ways it's helped me productivity-wise. However, our primary software, Red Wing's TurningPoint 5.1, is setup to be used with CR8.5 Pro, and therefore I cannot integrate my CR reports with our software. Actually you can acquire older versions of the product through our telesales department. In North America, please call 1-888-229-2276.
We do withdraw older versions of Crystal Reports from our distributors, but because of situations like this we continue to sell it direct.

Crystal report parameters not available when running from within SAP B1

Hi
I have found this problem a few times already and I think it is now about time I find a solution for it.
On my latest Crystal report, I have 2 parameters.
The 1e is a dynamic parameter, allowing the user to select multiple groups.
The 2nd is also a dynamic parameter, allowing the user to select only a single item.
These parameters works fine in Crystal and do what they are supposed to do.
After publishing the report in SAP Busines One (SBO) and viewing it from within SBO, the 2 parameter prompts are still there but without the dynamic list to select any data from.
On a previous report where a parameter has been defined as "Any value can be entered for the parameter" once again worked fine in crystal but from within SBO the parameter allowed no value to be entered.
Have anyone got a solution for this.

You have lost me. I have searched the form and I have worked through the whole pdf you suggested.
I have no idea what I am supposed to do or see or use "ItemGroup@ SELECT ItmsGrpCod, ItmsGrpNam FROM OITB ORDER BY ItmsGrpCod"
As a test I created a test report with the following parameters to test how it would present itself in B1
1.     A static parameter with no list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = True u2013 B1 result. A box that I could enter anything. Defeating the object as I wanted a list of valid options
2.     A static parameter with no list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. A box that I could enter anything. Defeating the object as I wanted a list of valid options
3.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = True u2013 B1 result. A box that I could select multiple values from a list. I could not add my own value. Defeating the object as the list is static
4.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. A drop down box where I could select one of the values. Defeating the object as the list is static
5.     A static parameter with a list. Allow custom Values = False, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. Same as in point 4
6.     A Dynamic parameter. Allow custom Values = True, Allow Multiple Values = False u2013 B1 result. Same as in point 1 & 2. No Dynamic list returned and can not add own option
As mentioned. All the parameters work in Crystal as one expect it to. What I am after is what should I change in B1 so that the report works the same as in Crystal.
Where in B1 should it be changes and to what should it be changed.
If the changes should be done in crystal to cater for B1 then what should be changes where to what
I am not that familiar with B1.
In my test report I use B1 table OITM.
My parameter is Item (Crystal syntax {?Item}) and I use it in a filter to say {OITM.ItemCode} = {?Item}

The problem is that the redistributable version posted on the web site contains assembly versions 12.0.1100.0 and if you are using Crystal 2008 SP0, the version referenced in a Visual Studio 2008 project is 12.0.2000.0. You receive the following error when running on a client with runtime referenced above installed.
"System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms, Version=12.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. Is a trial version of Crystal Reports for Enterprise available for free?

I see lots of other versions, such as CR 2013, CR for visual studio, and CR Server, but no CR for Enterprise. Is this something I'd need to evaluate through SAP's sales department?

A report writer tool like Crystal reports is not available due to the cost involved in its licenses.Do you think that Oracle Reports is free then? It's $$$$.
You can download and test it for free, but if you want to use it in production you have to buy a license.

Column level access in Crystal Report Server

Hi,I have three fields in my Crystal Report. The crystal report will be exported to PDF by my customised web application. The application has a built in user security and access control model. However if user 1 logs in he should see all the 3 columns(database fields) on the exported PDF. If user 2 logs in he should see only first 2 columns as he has access to only those. We would also be using Crystal Report Server.I know this could be done in Crystal Report itself but is there any way to leverage column level access (and also row level) functionality using Crystal Report Server. The Crystal Report reports off an ODBC Datasource.It would be great if any one could help me in this regard. Cheers.  

If you were running the same version designer and server, you could open your reports straight from the repository, and save them straight back. Then you wouldnt have multiple versions of RPTs flying about.
I have just purchased a new licence for 2008 and an 2008 upgrade for a Xr2.
I don't think I completely understand, but we do have Crystal Reports 2008 and Crystal Reports Server 2008 available for purchase.

Using Crystal Reports as the default for opening .rpt files

Hi all,
I know this is a simple question with a simple answer, but I'm baffled, so here goes. I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 and I have the Crystal Report Viewer installed on my computer. I want to open .rpt files with Crystal Reports 2008 as the default application, not Crystal Report Viewer.
When I right-click the .rpt file I have three options, Crystal Report Viewer 2008, Microsoft Visual Studio Version Selector, and Choose Program. When I select Choose Program, then click the Browse button, Crystal Reports is not available as one of the programs to choose.
When I look at the programs available via the Control Panel, I see Crystal Reports 2008, but I'm not able to select it as the default for opening .rpt files. I'm assuming the program file is in my Program Files folder somewhere in the Business Objects folder, but I'm not sure which file I need to set Crystal as the default program. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

SAP Crystal Report 2013 on Windows 2012 and Lotus Notes Databases

Hi everybody, does someone already try to use version 2013 of Crystal Report to report Lotus Notes databases content?
We have been used older version for about 10 years without any difficulties as a native driver exist for Lotus Notes.
But installing the version 2013, we have discovered that lotus Notes is not anymore present int the list of database to connect to...
Can anyone provide sonme help?

See the SAP Crystal Reports 2013 Product Availability Matrix (PAM), page 9 and download the doc linked to there. According to that doc, Lotus Notes is now only supported via ODBC only.
Also, the search string 'lotus crystal 2013' (search box in top right corner) brings up the following KBA:

If you wish to use the Eclipse IDE Software Updater:
1. Start Eclipse 3.4.1 (Gemini) IDE.

If you don't see that version listed, here's some troubleshooting tips:
Open a web browser, and Go to the following URL:

You should get back a XML file listed the current CR4E plugin and language packs versions. If you get an error instead, it may be because (1) you're in a locked down environment that won't let you access that site, or (2) the CR4E Update Site may be down for maintenance. If the former, you'll have to download the updates by some other means and upgrade manually.

I simplified the code, *myResult("SELECT * FROM table") * is absolutely no problem ,
and this code is absolutely no problem in the "crystal report for eclipse "version 1
but in version 2 run error:

Crystal Reports 2013 Failed to find an Available Report Application Server.

Hi Experts,
I am unable to Publish Crystal Reports 2013 to the BI 4.1 SP2 Enterprise.
I have installed SAP CR 2013 on my Laptop and also on our Citrix machine, from both systems I am getting the following error when try to publish:
Failed to find an Available Report Application Server.
All the ports and firewall are open, when doing some trace with Wireshark, its assigning some random ports starting with 64960.
On the same machine, i have installed Crystal Reports 2008, I could publish reports to Enterprise.
Could you please let me know what might be the issue.
Is Crystal Reports 2013 need any specific port to be assigned?

In addition to assiging the ports for below servers,
     Crystal 2013 Report Application Server
     Crystal Processing Server
     Input File Repository Server
     Outout File Repository Server
I have configured the following setting also: Add Service Account that the
CMS runs under to the server's local admin group.
Still I am getitng the following error when trying to save the report to Enterprise:
" Failed to find an Available Report Application Server "

Drill down expand and collapse feature not available Crystal Reports Desig

Am I right in my understanding that drill down feature opens in a new tab and it cannot be made expand and collapse even using JRC.

Hi Slevi,
You are right with the understanding of the Drill down function. To have a drill down function available the minimum requirement is have at least a single group in the report.
When we have a group with some underlying data and then when we would like to see data for a particular group, we can see a u201Cmagnifying glassu201D symbol which indicates that there is data for this group and we can use the Drill down function.
When you drill on a particular group, the data for that group is shown in a new tab.
I hope this provides some information about the Drill down function used in Crystal Reports.

Crystal Reports Job Server - Default destinations not available

Greetings,
Currently I'm installing Crystal Reports XI onto a new server.
When scheduling reports they are stuck in a 'pending' status which records the following error in the windows event log:
Transport System exception for backend plugin DLL type newIJob():: Couldn't get IJob interface: CORBA exception! Object type is: CrystalEnterprise.Report and detail: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/UserException:1.0
. Details: %2.
After further investigation I discovered the Crystal reports job server has no defaul destinations, however the servers Destination Job Server and Program Job Server do have the default instances.
Firstly I assume the error reported in the event log is due to there are no destinations, as the scheduler won't know where to send out to.
Can anyone help in advising how to ensure the reports server had some default destinations?
I have restarted the server and rebooted the Crystal reports server too.

And please check job server is enabled and under the CMC > Server > Crystal Job Server > RightClick on the server > Destination to File System.
And you can increase the maximun concurrent job value through CMC>Servers>CrystalReportJobServer>Properties.

Inserting Dynamic Images in to a Crystal Report 10

Hi all,
I am trying to insert dynamic pictures into my report from repository, by getting the path for the picture from database fields. The version that I am using is Crystal Reports 10.
Here is what I have done.
I inserted an OLE object into the report, went to "Format Graphics" by right clicking on the OLE object, then to "Hyperlink" Tab (as I didn't see anything other than "Reset" button and picture dimension options under the "Picture" tab), and selected "File" Radio button (as I didn't want to display the picture as Hyperlink) and gave the @Filepath as the formula there. @Filepath is the formula that gives me the complete path for the JPEG that I need to insert in the report.
filepath = field A + field B
where field A is the location for the image and field B is the actual image name.
the actual image is located in repository folder.
I am not able to see the image in the report "Preview" section as it is showing it has an empty box and when I click on that empty OLE object, I am able to view the image in a separate window where as my requirement is to view the image within the report (not in a separate window).
I didn't find anything useful under Format Graphics -> Picture tab.

That feature wasn't available nor was it supported in CR 10. You'll have to upgrade to CR Xi R2 or 2008 to allow using a database field as the location of the file.
CR 10 would only load the picture when the report is opened, it will never update when clicking on the refresh button.
