Crystal Reports 8.5 "Invalid TLV" after reinstall

Good morning,
We had a billing machine that was using Crystal Reports 8.  The hard drive died, we reinstalled the OS, reinstalled Crystal, and now we're getting errors when trying to open old reports "Invalid TLV Record."
I've tried the steps below:
u2022         Ensure the crystal report versions match. (i.e., the version in which the report has been created has to match the version at the client's workstation.)
u2022         If the versions are the same and you still get the error, it could be due to a "copy paste mismatch". Try copying the .rpt file in a different location and then running it.
u2022         If this does not solve the problem, check for the presence of important dll files in the client computer.
I tried this step, but I have a feeling the error may be fixed somewhere in this step
Still can't get anything to work and I need some help - Please and Thanks!

This is quite peculiar - reason being there was only 1 machine in our ENTIRE organization running Crystal Reports (and of course was NOT backed up) with all of the documents saved locally.
Is it possible there is a missing service pack that would keep the reports from opening?
I got a little more info from the folks who actually run the reports - the reports we are having problems opening are the web reports.
We're able to pull up the apps and run them against the server to get our queries.  For another week we are unable to test the creation of a web report (since we don't have all the information to put into Crystal, yet), but it's on the agenda.
Is there a special report viewer that we can use to view these .RPT web reports?

    I didn't understand why this is happening?
    Is this a problem of  port no. ?

    Is this a problem of IIS?
    or
    Is this a problem of Browser?
    or
    Is this a problem with CrystalReportViewer?
    or
    something else?
    In fact I have the folder for  "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\aspnet_client\system_web\4_0_30319\crystalreportviewers13". for crystal reports.

    Hi,
    I am using Crystal report viewer (Crviewer.dll) version 11.0.0.1282 to show crystal reports in my VB6 application. When we search for any text in a multipage report after the last find system shows a message "Crystal Report Viewer" "Text cannot be found in the report" and trows an unhandled error and closes the application. How can I fix this?

  • My Crystal Reports Abruptly shuts-down Immediately after opening

    When I launch Crystal Reports 2008, the program open and load normally but as soon as it's finished loading it closes immedaitrely. This issue just started yesterday, Dec 22nd, 2010. I haven't really been using the program yet. I am just finishing reading up on it to get myself familiar with the program before I drove in to it. Now I can't even get the program to open up. I have no idea what happened. I really do need some help here.

    the problem is with the cookies. That is the cause of the script-error on the Start Page while opening.
    In IE - Internet Options - Privacy - Websites - add domain "businessobjects.com"
    and the problem has gone.
    There is No need to uncheck "Check for updates on startup"
    And there is No need to disable "Show online resources"

    The ODBC datasource must be configured as a System datasource.  The database was configured as a User datasource so it was only visible on the local computer.  That's why Business Views Manager could access the database.

  • Crystal Report Viewer GroupTree no Hyperlink after disable SeparatePages

    This problem has puzzeled me enough. I would really appreciate any help i can get.
    First my environment is ASP.NET VS.NET using VB.NET
    When i set the "Separate Pages" property to "True" i get hyperlinks in the group tree. The hyperlinks drills down to the specific item. However, if the "Separate Pages" property set ot false, I lose the hyperlinks in the group tree. Any ideas why or how to resolve this issue?

    Since you do not have any service packs, let's start with that. SP 1 is here:

    I did try to reproduce the issue with CR 2008 and .NET 2008 and there this works as expected. I don't have CR 10.5 image running right now,  but try the SP and if that does not work I'll test that version. Just an FYI;  It may be that this is something that will need to be fixed for CR 10.5. Fixes normally take 6+ months so if this is reproducible after SP 1 is applied, you'll have to consider your options.

  • Invalid TLV Record - Crystal Report XI R2

    Hi I am getting "Invalid TLV Record" when opening crystal report on production server. After recycling the application pool the problem getting solved.
    Event viewer Shows this error:
    Error: File /CrystalReports/Viewer/ASP/RDCrptserver11.asp  Unexpected error. A trappable error (E06D7363) occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running..
    Crystal Report XI developer edition was installed in the production server and with out unistalling the XI version we deployed the XI R2(side by side installation)  using CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi - Service Pack4 for .Net( for exporting as pdf) and RDC Compnents using  Crystal Report XI R2 Service pack 4 Merge modules
    Reports are showing using ActiveX Viewer with classic ASP in our ASP.Net 2.0 Application.
    But the reports are still using Crystal Report XI RDC not XI R2 RDC because the XI RDC Viewer was already installed in users machines.

  • Crystal report not shown after application idle time

    i have a web page which uses around 10 session variables to store values on a button click.and after assign session values Response.Redirect("~/url",false); to a a page which contains crystal report viewer.and report should show those session values.after keeping the application idle for 45 mins i click on the button which assign session values.then it's redirecting to the report page but the report is not shown.it shows a empty page and no errors shown(only happens application is idle for nearly 45 mins other wise works fine)
    i'm using iis 7
    in the web.config i have set sessionState timeout="60" and application pool idle time out to 60 mins.
    any idea why this happens

    Make sure you are using .Close and .Dispose on your report objects as you get done with them.

    There are problems with the page format and the color settings for the new printer !
    It should be resolved with ADAPT01104291 FixPack3.8
    Description: Crystal reports may not print properly after users change printers by using the SelectPrinter command from the Report Designer Component (RDC). The cause of the problem is that the incorrect DEVMODE structure size is allocated to the print job.

    Hello Don, thank you for your extensive answer. The PCL printer of HP is not the trouble maker. The problem is obviously replicable with any other Printer Driver (Espon/Sharp/Kycocera a. s. o.)  I only installed this PCL Printer Driver of course you mentioned it in your example before.

    I can change the default windows printer settings but that has no effect on the RDC-Print !  So I think, there must be a solution by the Crystal-Report-Design-printing-DLL (craxdrt.dll) !

  • Web Crystal Report not working after period of time

    I have had a problem for a long time now on one of our web servers, it's becoming more of an issue lately due to a web site using Crystal more. The problem is that the Crystal Report Viewer does not load after a few hours. If I re ship the main DLL into the Bin folder for the site, then something gets 'reset', and hey presto, Crystal starts working again.
    The problem would even arise with a basic CR, with just one Textfield on it (i.e. not show)
    Web server is 32 bit Windows Server Web Edition SP 2. Asp.Net project built in VS 2012 against .Net 4.0.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Unable To Print or Access Page Setup in Crystal Reports 2008

    I have Win 7 32 bit, and installed Crystal Reports 2008 last week (v12.0.0.683 from the Help window).
    Every time I open a report, and from the Preview tab clicking File -> Print, or File - > Page Setup, I immediately receive a Windows message that "Crystal Reports has stopped working".  After a few seconds, another Windows message displays "Crystal Reports has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".  Then Crystal completely closes.
    I downloaded sample reports from the BO website, and still receive the error, so I don't think it's the report.
    When I view the Event Log, I see the following:

    I have uninstalled and reinstalled CR 2008 multiple times and continue to receive the same error.  I tried updating to SP1 (Version 12.1.0.892 Incremental) but I receive the following error: "A BusinessObjects product at a lower patch level is detected.  The installation cannot continue.  Please update all installed products to the SP1 patch level, then restart this installation".
    Need to print my reports - any ideas?

    Note the MS Kabse on where the printer registry is. Now the odd part is on one of my test development PC's it won't populate the Default User Printer list, only the Local User Printers. I take this same app to another PC and it works just fine. The register keys are there but for some reason on my Windows 7 64 bit it won't show them, the other strange part is I have full access to both keys. I have not been able to figure out why this happens...
    I'm thinking this may be related to your issue.... But I don't have a solution, very strange... I've even gone into regedit32 and set full permissions on the various keys and it still doesn't work...
    I have other VM-ware images if I need to get past that part for testing so I never drilled into why, I believe it has to be some Windows/Firewall/Anti-virus configuration or something our IT department pushed into my local Profile.... What that is I don't know unfortunately.
    I'll do some looking and testing. You may want to post this on Microsoft forums as well.... Ask about printer permissions.

  • Crystal Reports Logon Error ("Security Plugin Error")

    I have an issue that I haven't been able to resolve for the past couple days.  I had to reinstall Crystal Reports XI on a user's computer, and now we can't log into the BusinessObjects Enterprise server from it using LDAP.  I have successfully logged in using the Enterprise authentication mode, but not the LDAP authentication mode.
    Here was my general trail of attempts:
    Completely uninstalled Crystal Reports XI
    Installed Crystal Reports XI
    Installed Crystal Reports XI SP1
    Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
    Installed Crystal Reports XI SP2
    Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin" (despite the release notes of SP2 saying that this issue has been resolved)
    Installed Crystal Reports XI SP4 (as SP3 was not available on the downloads section of the SAP/BO service portal, and I heard it had a bug)
    Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
    Installed Crystal Reports XI Hotfix 11
    Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
    Installed Crystal Reports XI Hotfix 12
    Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
    I was able to log into InfoView via LDAP on the above workstation.
    I've also tried installing Crystal Reports XI, following the same steps as above, on second workstation in order to determine if it was an issue with the first workstation I was addressing.  But the second workstation had the same issue.  However, I was also able to log into InfoView via LDAP on this second workstation.
    I was also able to authenticate just fine on my workstation via Crystal Reports using LDAP, but its Crystal Reports installation took place before I began working here.
    I have searched the SAP/BO portal, and I'm still left with the following questions on the following posts:

    [Cannot access the repository.     [LDAP Authentication issue whille connecting to BOXIR2 usinng designer|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=6253470] - InfoView is not a problem to log into.  Is the software inventory tool referred to in this thread the same as "Add or Remove Programs"?  If so, the BOE version is not the same as any of the Crystal versions on any of the workstations I've worked with.  But mine still authenticates.  I also don't think it's a firewall issue as the only thing that changed on the workstations I've worked with is that I've uninstalled and/or installed Crystal Reports.

    My Workstation:
    Windows XP SP2
    Crystal Reports 11.0.0.1994
    BOE Server:
    BOEXI 11.0.0.7485
    CMS 11.0.0.1886
    I am very new to Crystal Reports, so I may have missed something in the installation that would have prevented this.  Is there a way to make Crystal Reports "point" to the BOE server via LDAP?  I couldn't find anything like this though.  Any help you could provide would be great!

    I cannot seem to find Crystal Reports XI Release 1 Service Pack 3.  All I can find on the SAP Support Portal (under the Business Objects Support - Software Downloads section) are SP1, SP2, and SP4.
    We can access BOE via LDAP from other Crystal clients, and we can access InfoView from other clients also.  The client that is having trouble accessing BOE with Crystal Reports via LDAP is able to access InfoView.
    Should I try CR XI R1 SP3?  If so, could you point me in the right direction to find it?

  • Crystal Reports and SAP Integration Issue

    I am in the process of reinstalling my SAP B-One(2007 A) Server, after SQL Server and SAP Server and Client installtions and its related patch PL10. My machine is fully loaded and to go, but I am stuck with Crystal Reports Basic 2008 installtion.
    After installting the below for Crystal Reports:
    1) .NetPlatform SP1 setup (dotnetfx35sp1)
    3) Crytatl Runtime
    4) Crystal Setup
    5) Crystal SAP Viewer
    6) CR2008_SP3
    My integration between SAP and CR are fine but after first log off and log on of SAP B-One.
    Shows the below messages:
    - "The new version of Add-on Crystal Reports for SAP Business One is
    installed. Upgrade the Add-on in the current Common DB."
    followed by the below one.
    "Wrong Executable digital signature for Add-On".
    Any advices on how can I upgrade the Common DB.

    Re-installation meaning that you had installed aprevious version and now upgrading or is it a full installation.

    is your report working on SAP from server machine or it only works on Crystal Report on server machine
    IF your report is working  on SAP server then, the problem is on sharing the .rpt file with client
    Place the .rpt file in shared folder whichi is accessable from all the clients then use that .rpt file in SAP CR addon and update it
    updating the path from each client system SAP towards shared .rpt file
    do you have any firewall installed, try disabling within your network and check
    This should Fix your problem
    make sure the printer is shared and correct printer is set as default printer
    if possible give a test print page from client to make sure the printer is online
