Crystal reports gets Hang

Dear Friends,
We are using AR invoice ,QTN, Del.Challan prints outs thr' Crystal report.
When we open it for taking prints ,its gets open but after that system gets HANG.
Then up to making END TASK ,it remain as it is.
IS this problem of Crystal reports , or any solution is there for solve this.?

Check weather the shared folder where the rpt file is kept is reachable
set the rpt file path correctly
is it running correctly in server or any other client?
is it running directly in crystal report?

Problem with crystal reports get from All in One Best Practice package

Hi,
I tried to use Financial Statements crystal report download from All in One Best Practice package but encounter the below errors. I followed the guide in Manual Steps for Additional Datasource Creation to set up the additional data source. When i try to preview the report, I tried to set all the value to Null but the error message still appear. I believe this has something to do with the infoset but i not sure how to resolve this. Those report which connect to infoset doesnt seem to work for me.
Errors:
Failed to retrive data from database. (then i press OK)
database connector error: 'no item structure data' (then i press OK)
database connector error: 'RFC_Closed'

I think you misunderstood. The crystal report i am talking about is the 23 crystal report template i get from All in One Best Practice package. All i need to do is follow the "Quick Guide to impletement SAP Best Practices for Business Intelligence V4.31" to make those template works. For those template that connect to Database type: SAP Table, Cluster or Function, i can make those work. The problem i facing now are those template (example: Financial Statements) that connect to Database type: SAP Info sets. The error i receive are stated in my first post.

i have to create Crystal report using Store Procedure. When i Create Connection using OLE DB (ADO ) and Select the Store Procedure when i select the Store Procedure and pass the Date using Parameter i got the Following Error .

Scheduling Crystal reports getting required parameters

Hello,
We're implementing Crystal Reports and want to integrate it in our own developed portal (it is in Java), for viewing the reports we will be using OpenDocument. But we're confronted with a problem, we want to give users the ability to schedule reports to inboxes.
And from within OpenDocument we're unable to directly schedule to inboxes. We think we need to develop our own layer for the scheduling. What we want is something similar to the functionality from infoview for scheduling, but slimmed down.
What exactly do we need (libraries,...) to develop this layer but keep the footprint of this layer as small as possible and avoid problems with future upgrades?

That thread points you to the documentation for the SDK's which includes which jar files are needed as well as points to sample applications that you can refer to.

SAP BI upgrade causes Bw Crystal Reports to hang or timeout

We recently upgraded or patched our SAP BI to Service Pack 8 from service pack 4. In doing so my SAP BW Crystal Reports have stopped working correctly. It is only reports that are using a BW query that is the product of 3 multiproviders being joined together. They ran in less that 1 minute before the upgrade and are now timing out. If I try to run them in Business Objects they fail after running for an hour with a database connection error.
Has anyone experienced this same problem?

Opening Crystal Reports get Communication Error.....

I have several issues....
When I select reports I am coming up with a communications error.
I recieve the following event id's but I am unable to find out what they meen.
34200
35602
34400
35302
My investigation leads me to believe it is an issue with the Registry or the Registry Key.
Can anyone let me know what these event id's mean?
It is on our customer web site where they are using on demand reports. it is running off of Java.

Have you installed the 1.1, 2.0 and 3.5 Framework?
Check your C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework and verify you have them all. If not go to Microsoft's site and install them.

SAP Crystal Reports 2013 Hangs

I have installed the trial version of CR 2013. When I start the program, it just hangs. I have to "end task" with the Task Manager.
This seems to be very odd. Install a product for test trial and it hangs.
I am running Windows 8.1.
Any suggestions of how to resolve this?

if you search here on SCN there are some posts discussing that CR is hanging after installation. See e.g. here:

I'd suggest to re-install it and as suggested in forum post above install it again with removing unnecessary data access components under Data Access.

Crystal Reports 2008; Can't select the certain table. Why?

Please help me everyone!
problem note:
I'm using Crystal Report 2008 to access MS SQL Server 2005 Database.
Everything was good until last month.
But somehow when I select the table "FTABLE11C", Crystal Repors hanging-up and no more Crystal Reports works.
If I copy the FTRAN11C to different name such as "aaa" using following statement and use Crystal Reports then I can select the "aaa" whthout problems.
Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C.
So, I drop the tbale FTRAN11C and copy FTRAN11C from aaa table using following statement,
select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
and select the FTRAN11C again on Crystal Reports 2008, Crystal Reports 2008 hanging-up again.
I'd like to know how to solve this situation.

1. We didn't have any patch on SQL Server.
2. I delete one field on table that named "FTRAN11C".
   That's all.
3. I tried following steps;
   a. Copy the file to another name.
        Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C
   b. Droped the bad table.
        Drop table FTRAN11C
   c. Copy back from saved table.
        Select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
4. Open Crystal Reports 2008
   a. Connect to database with OLD DB.
       Crystal Reports shows all the tables within database without any problems.
   b. Select the table aaa.
       No problems. It shows on right side box.
   c. Select the table FTRAN11C that is recently created from saved table.
       Now we have problems.
        It does not shows on right side box.
        Little circle displaying forever.
        If I click right side x, Crystal Reports 2008 is closed.
5. If I use following command on SQL Server Management Studio Express, all of data shows without any problems.
       Select * from FTRAN11C

Install all patches as you are on the original release:
Be sure you have the keycode, used to install the product, I will not be able to get you a new one if you lose it or don't have it available.
The easiest way to update is to uninstall CR 2008 and then install Service Pack 3 full build:

Then install SP 4:

Then test your reports again.
As for using/upgrading to CR 2011 it's not required and likely won't make any difference but you can upgrade if you want of course.

Can I capture crystal report user input in my web application?

Folks, I have a report that has a input paramter named "AccountKey". Crystal report launches its own input parameter capture screen where user can type in the AccountKey value and hit OK button. Subsequently the crystal report gets renedred in crystal report viewer.
I have a requirement of rendering the report in PDF not in crystal report. How do I do that.
I am able to do that when there is no user input needed in the crystal report or, if I can somehow supply needed input from code-behind, but the moment I has a parameter that expects user-input I loose control.
Is there anyway I can capture what value user has entered in Crystal Report Input paramagter capture form? or, any alternate that can help me acheive the result?

To capture the values of Parameters the best thing you can do is to code for parameters and take values from it through text boxes, so that you can capture it.

Using 2 Universe Queries in Crystal Reports

Hi,
I am trying to use Universe queries in a Crystal report.
I want to use 2 Universe queries and then link the common dimensions between them using the Database Expert, is these similar to merge dimensions in Web Intelligence?. Is it possible? Or how can I do to merge objects that came from 2 Universe queries?
My problem is when I tried to execute the report, Crystal Reports get stuck.
Any ideas would be helpful.

We have a bunch of reports implemented with Crystal Reports and we are planning to migrate those reports to XMLP. Is that possible? Dose anyone has the same problem? What is the general process? I have no experience about XMLP before.

Thanks for your reply, Yes, for the data we can utilize the query from the Crystal report. But after Crystal Reports get the data, it can do extra things on the data, such as applying some functions on the raw data. It can also define some Formula Fields out of the data. the Formula Fields can be placed in the reports too. The defination of Formula Fields can be very complicated involves a lots of operators include +, *, IF/THEN/ELSE, SELECT CASE, AND/OR, and so on, there could be some pre-defined function in also, here is one example of Formula Field definition(Notice that the definition can contain other Formula Field):

How can we achive the same thing using XMLP? Since Formula Fields are widely used in our reports. You said the data should be the simplest, dose it mean we calulate whatever we need in the query/extraction and feed the RTF with the final result using XML?

ORACLE Crystal Report Error

Hi All
i am using Weakly Bound REF CURSOR to load data to crystal report (getting data from SP)
when i am adding SP to the report it will prompt a massage as follows
ORA-00000: normal, successful completion
Help me to over come this

I was having a similar problem in Crystal Reports Server 2008 v1, and had to install the full client to resolve it, which I didn't like. I poked around some, and was able to get the Instant Client working with a few minor changes. Note that I tried it only with the 32-bit Instant Client even though I was on a 64-bit system because that was what SAP recommended when I talked to them.
The changes I had to do was initialize the Oracle environment variables (the instant client doesn't have a script to do this for you) and to create a soft-link which is included in the full client, but not in the instant client.
To setup the environment variables I created a file called env.sh and put it in /opt/crystal/bobje/setup/oracle/, where /opt/crystal was my install path. This ensured that it got called by the /opt/crystal/bobje/setup/env.sh script which runs as part of the System init scripts to initialize the environment. The following is what I put in my file (again for the 32-bit 11g R2 instant client):
     export ORACLE_SID=summitdb
     export ORACLE_HOME='/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client'
     export ORACLE_BASE='/usr/lib/oracle/'
     export TNS_ADMIN='/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/network/admin'
     export PATH="$:/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/bin"
     export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$$/usr/lib/oracle/11.2/client/lib"
After that, I created the missing soft link using this command:
     ln -s "$/lib/libclntsh.so.11.1" "$/lib/libclntsh.so.10.1"
Once I had done those two things, and restarted the service using the /etc/init.d script, it worked fine.

Crystal report close button hangs the application

Dear All,
I am working on 2005 B PL 46. we have developed an application to open a particular crystal report when a button is pressed in AR Invoice form. this works fine and the data is loaded properly. The problem is, when I close this report, this hangs the entire application and I have to kill the exe from the task manager then only I can go back to SAP. (one of the oldest problem we encountered with crystal report-SDK). this does not happen always. it does close the report 5 times out of 10 without hanging the application.one more thing is, if I debug the application with pressing F11, it never hangs the application and woks fine.
The report is getting loaded in the Crystalreport Viewer control dragged on a windows form. any one has any idea? I have tried this on 2007 B version PL 08 and the same problem persists with lesser frequency.

Help ! Crystal Reports 2008 for Visual Studio Hangs

I am using CR 2008 in VS 2008. When I try to set a data source in a crystal reports viewer the first time it hangs. This only occurs on the very first viewer that gets set. Once the first one works, I never have a problem again.
This has been a problem through a number of CR releases. It is not a new issue.

And like all other releases the delay is due to the first time your app loads CR runtime is takes time do so, all programs do this. CR simply doesn't load in your memory space until it's called.
Load a dummy report on the Main Form when your app is loading then close the dummy report, it will add additional time to load your main app but it appears then CR loads the reports quickly.
No way around this. Also, make sure your reports have the Verify Database on first load or any of the Verify options, CR will try to connect to the DB and verify which can also take time.
