Crystal reports has encountered a problem and needs to close
Hi all.
We have a dev machine XP sp3 with all critical updates applied. It has Crystal reports 11 and visual studio 2008 on it (both have all updates applied). We seem to have this problem consistently in crystal reports. If we open a new blank report, and try to drag & drop a field to anywhere on the report, we get this message. This happens whether we connect to an access database or an sql database. In the event log, it has this additional information:
Event Type: Error

Does anyone have a suggestion as to how to try and fix this? Right now we can't build reports. Thanks!!
This latest service pack fixed my issue!! Thanks a million Stratos! Here is the direct link to the service pack for others that may experience this problem:
https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
On this page, choose Crystal Reports, then choose Crystal Reports XI R2, then choose service pack and it shows up at the top of the list.
If you are going from CR XI R1 to R2 (like I had to), you can download R2 full install from the trials, uninstall R1, reboot, install R2, use the same license number for R1. Then apply the latest service pack (R2 SP5).
With great appreciation,
Tinyang

Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close while running report
Ever since I installed HEAT 9, Crystal Reports 11 crashes periodically. I get the message "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." This message usually appears after I run a report, enter my DB credentials, and enter parameters.
I also have Report Viewer installed as a part of another application called Wasp. I can open reports using the report viewer but when I close them the entire Wasp program crashes every time.
Both of these problems only happen with HEAT 9 installed. I do not have this problem with HEAT 8.4 installed.I suggest you contact the makers of HEAT and ask them if they support your configuration. It may be they do not support multiple versions of CR installed. It may also be caused by the order you have installed the various programs. Try using the repair feature for each program in various orders to see if that resolves the problem.
Thank you

2. Delete the folders iTunes and Quicktime where installed in.
3. Reboot.
4. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<<Your User ID>>\Application Data\Apple Computer\
5. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<<Your User ID>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer
6. Delete if in your My Documents folder there is a folder called My Music with a folder in it called iTunes. Delete or rename the iTunes folder.
7. Reboot.
8. Turn off all anti virus and firewall software.
9. Re-install iTuens.
If you still get an error after that your Windows install is hosed. You will need to format and re-install it first. -
Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Hi All,
The report builder in my system is behaving weirdly. If I open a report, which is having a normal browser output, it allowing me to see the data model, layout model and everything. And if I open a report, which is having a PDF output, it's not allowing me to open the Layout.
Here the output is in context of Oracle Applications front-end. And as I know it shouldn't be a problem with Report Builder.
It errors out with the following message.
Reports Builder has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
And the error report contains the following message.

I have tried reinstalling the software a minimum of 10 times, but no luck. At last I got my system formatted and tried. For the first time it worked for me, then I installed Forms Builder... then again I am getting the same problem even though I have different homes for Reports and Forms.
Is it problem with my system or the Operating System or the version of the Oracle Developer?
Can anyone please help me out?
Thanks in advance,
Lakshman.I have been having a similar problem and do not know if this will apply to your situation but I found the following on Metalink.

Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close
approximately every 1 and 1/2 to two months I have to uninstall Crystal Reports XI and re-load release 2. The program works fine then starts acting funny (cursor will not change when making text box longer/shorter, Can only make sections larger/shorter by putting the cursor over to the far left side of the report, etc) When this starts happening, within one day I receive the error
"crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I was able to see a thread in the Business Objects forum indicating there was a service pack to fix the problem. Each time I search for service packs to install nothing comes up. Does anyone know what this service pack is and where I might be able to find it.
Thanks Much
DonnaHi Jon
Have you checked with DEP option?
Right Click on My Computer ->Click on Properties->Click on Advance Tab-> Click on on Settings in Performance Pane-?Click on Data Execution Prevention Tab ->Click on Turn On DEP option ->Click on Add button and browse for crw32.exe file.
What is difference between mentioned two machine(Configuration)?
Are you using dual monitor with Crystal Report?
Have you checked with event viewer? It gives the detail description of error.
Below are the steps for event viewer:
Click on Start ->Run -type in eventvwr.
Hope it will help you.

I am in the process of evaluating the Crystal Reports 2008 product to create reports on data stored on our IBM AS400 system. Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, pls help
When I try to use a crystal report version 10.0 to querry from two data source at same time, I got following error:
Crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience .
I have a 8.5 version crystal report and it works just fine.
The two data source are:
MS access2003 DB and Sage Mas90 DB.
I have tried on server 2003 and window XP. none of them works.
Any help is appreciated.
JonathanReporting off 2 datasources should work in CR10.
I would suggest the following;
1) Check the version of CR10 and apply SP5 if necessary
2) Try using different connection methods, if you are using a native connection try odbc for example
Possible workarounds woulr be to use a main report > subreport
or
In Access create a linked table to Mas90 -
SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close
Hi,
I have a client currently using SAP B1 2007 SP00 PL47.
They have multiple SAP B1 companies set up.
SAP Crystal Report(CR) integration Add On is installed.
Crystal Report 2008 is also installed.
My client logon to SAP company A, run a report from the CR Add On.
While waiting, he then logon to Company B and do other work.
Then he received a message "SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close". we are sorry for the inconvenience.
Note that
1. the error only happens when my client logon to 2 companies at the same time.
Has anyone encountered that problem before?I know this is a couple of months old but it was the only result that came up in Google and relates to exactly the problem we are having with the exception a user is not trying to open more than one company at a time. We have the same version of SAP as the original poster to this thread, SAP Business One 2007, and are trying to load up Crystal Reports 2.0.0.7 integrated add-on. All other Add-Ons install and load fine when the user has logged in but not the Crystal Reports add-on. The add-on is set to start automatically but it does not and when I go into the Administration - Add-Ons - Add-on Manager the Crystal Reports for SAP Business One has a Status of "Connecting" and the Group is showing as "Automatic". When I highlight the addon and attempt to click "Start" to force it to start the same popup appears saying "SAP_CR has encountered a problem and needs to close.". At the same time as this keeps happening I check the computer's normal event error logs and I get the following event:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000
Date: 23/02/2010
Time: 09:44
User: N/A
Computer: OBIWAN
Description:
EventType clr20r3, P1 sap_cr.exe, P2 2.0.0.7, P3 494ae647, P4 mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 492b834a, P7 a8b, P8 0, P9 system.io.filenotfoundexception, P10 NIL.
It looks as though it relates to an ASP.net issue but the machine has the latest 3.5 Dot Net installed. I have attempted to un-install and re-install SAP B1 and the Crystal Add-on (as well as the dot net framework too) three times now and each time the same popup keeps appearing. Please can anyone help solve this problem? Thank you very much for any help. I appreciate it.
Kind regards

Adobe Photo Downloader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Error Code: c0000005
Address: 75e32f71
I clicked on the OK button and the downloader closed.
I did a search on this error code (c0000005) and there seems to be a workaround but no solutions, why is this? I ask that because this problem seems to be years and years old, going back to at least 2005 (do the math that is 10 years).
I don't even have the Camera hooked up and I get this error on download. I redownloaded everything and reinstalled. I allso saw the AVI issues reported with this proble so i updated Quicktime though without the camera being hooked up when I get this error I didn't expect that to work. I tried support and they wouldn't help because I bought it in March this year. Pretty frustrating as I have re-purchased Elements about every 2 years. I think I might need a new CODEC? I had this problem on an Earlier version And I seem to remember that being the Fix but this may be something completely differentI finally found that it was missing a picture so the Catalog was "corrupted". I just deleted the picture and it started working.
I hate Adobe and their total lack of support - thanks for nothing Adobe . Also get this - they offered me to upgrade to 13.0 ( My 12.0 is only 6 months old but they still don't support it on errors. Only install errors!
I have upgrade and repurchase this product 4 times now. I will find something else next time! -
InterVideo WinDVR Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.
My TV Anywhere has suddenly stopoed working and the message "InterVideo WinDVR Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." appears each time I try to open the program. MSI Radio works fine. I have uninstalled and re-installed the programe (originally MSIPVS now MSIPVS3). I did try to download the new Beta drivers just to try, but the zip file shows 0 bytes!
Has anyone come across this, or can anyone suggest what I can try to resolve the issue?
Many thanks in anticipation

Seems that with the last 3 or 4 Flash Player updates, once the update is complete but before the installer actually exits, I get an error message box telling me that "Adobe Flash Player Installer/Uninstaller 11.2.r202 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.", etc., etc., etc. I've received this error message numerous times as most of the computers I work on are Windows XP SP3 (all updates) with Internet Explorer 8 as the browser, including my own computer and my wife's. If I could copy & paste the details, I would. But the temp file that's supposed to be created for error reporting purposes, isn't, and I'm not going to spend the next half an hour transcribing all the technical details. I just want you to be aware there's a problem with your installer. -kd5150-
I'm sorry you are running into this crash. To help investigate the problem, we'll need you to do a few things for us.
First, add the following line to the file mms.cfg (open in Notepad)
SilentAutoUpdateVerboseLogging=1
You can find the mms.cfg file here:
xp, vista, and windows 7 32bit: c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
windows 7 64bit: c:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash\mms.cfg
Next, we'll want to get a crash dump so we can see what's going wrong. You can enable crash logging on Windows Vista or 7 using the following steps:
Download the following files: Enable Crash Logging.reg and Disable Crash Logging.reg.
Double-click the Enable Crash Logging.reg file. Click Yes in the Registry Editor dialog.
Restart your computer.
Let the updater/installer crash occur
After the crash, open a file browser window and type the following in the navigation bar:%localappdata%
Go to the CrashDump folder.
Select the most recent file that appears with the extension .dmp.
Double-click the Disable Crash Logging.reg file downloaded in Step 1 and click OK.
Restart your computer.
Zip up the .dmp file and mail it (or a dropbox link) to [email protected] with a link to this thread.
For XP, follow these steps:
Show hidden files. For more details, see the instructions for Windows XP.
Repeat the steps that resulted in the installer crash
After the crash, open the following folder: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson
Locate the file named with the extension .dmp that corresponds with the correct date and time
Zip up the .dmp file and mail it (or a dropbox link) to [email protected] with a link to this thread.
In addition to the .dmp, please post or send me your Flash Installation.log.

Adobe reader 9.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close
How many other ADOBE subscribers have suffered the same frustrations as we have?
Over the last 4 days and numerous hours of frustration installing and uninstalling ADOBE 9.1 [and 7.1 and 8.1.3] to resolve the unknown cause of the current Adobe message - ."Adobe reader 9.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close" ..... without identifying the problem..... or its' cause.
Numerous error reports were forwarded to Adobe, but without response!
Unable to converse/communicate with anyone at Adobe Technical Support, it was suggested that we review Adobe Forums to see if anyone else was having similar UNKNOWN problems. Sure enough we found many subscribers [probably hundreds] suffering the same frustrations during the downloading of 9.1 upgrade AND former upgrades. We also found a band-aid solution to the UNLNOWN Adobe problem - at the suggestion of others we created and logged into a new account - a nuisance, but it works..... so far!
It makes you wonder if ADOBE ever reads what's going on. If they did, perhaps they good avert the problem/s and prevent service/subscriber discontent.
We certainly don't intend to ever download another Adobe upgrade!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The "Adobe Reader X.x has encountered a problem and needs to close" has been up very many times and a variety of solutions has been suggested.
(If necessary to do a re-install then un-install and turn off protection-programs + re-boot - check the stayed turned off - before re-installing !)

"has encountered a problem and needs to close" 7de8_appcompat.txt
Everytime I try to browse the internet I get "Firefox has encountered a problem and needs to close" the tech report shows C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\temp\7de8_appcompat.txt
I don't think this is a Firefox problem. I have the same error message and I get it regardless of whether I'm using Firefox or another browser.
In checking [http://www.whatsrunning.net/QueryProductID.aspx?Product=16854] it is a file owned by Microsoft. I suggest you check your registry for errors.
