Crystal Reports Logon Error ("Security Plugin Error")

Hi there,
I have an issue that I haven't been able to resolve for the past couple days.  I had to reinstall Crystal Reports XI on a user's computer, and now we can't log into the BusinessObjects Enterprise server from it using LDAP.  I have successfully logged in using the Enterprise authentication mode, but not the LDAP authentication mode.
Here was my general trail of attempts:
Completely uninstalled Crystal Reports XI
Installed Crystal Reports XI
Installed Crystal Reports XI SP1
Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
Installed Crystal Reports XI SP2
Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin" (despite the release notes of SP2 saying that this issue has been resolved)
Installed Crystal Reports XI SP4 (as SP3 was not available on the downloads section of the SAP/BO service portal, and I heard it had a bug)
Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
Installed Crystal Reports XI Hotfix 11
Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
Installed Crystal Reports XI Hotfix 12
Could not log into BOE using LDAP; received the error "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin"
I was able to log into InfoView via LDAP on the above workstation.
I've also tried installing Crystal Reports XI, following the same steps as above, on second workstation in order to determine if it was an issue with the first workstation I was addressing.  But the second workstation had the same issue.  However, I was also able to log into InfoView via LDAP on this second workstation.
I was also able to authenticate just fine on my workstation via Crystal Reports using LDAP, but its Crystal Reports installation took place before I began working here.
I have searched the SAP/BO portal, and I'm still left with the following questions on the following posts:
[Note 1207373|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333233303337333333373333%7D.do] - My issue is not regarding communicating with the LDAP server because the user logs into her workstation everyday using LDAP.  Could there be another solution?
[Log On error|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=5980948] - I couldn't find the "Server" service on the PC.  What is the actual name of the service?  Also, where can I go to find the release number of my BOE server?
[Authentication issues with the universes connection type|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=6316866] - I'm not sure what to do as I think my BOE server is XI R1.
[Cannot access the repository. (USR0013)|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=6327052] - I don't think this is the same issue as I'm experiencing.  Would I need to restart the CMS service on the BOE server, even though other workstations can log on to the BOE server using LDAP?
[LDAP Authentication issue whille connecting to BOXIR2 usinng designer|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=6253470] - InfoView is not a problem to log into.  Is the software inventory tool referred to in this thread the same as "Add or Remove Programs"?  If so, the BOE version is not the same as any of the Crystal versions on any of the workstations I've worked with.  But mine still authenticates.  I also don't think it's a firewall issue as the only thing that changed on the workstations I've worked with is that I've uninstalled and/or installed Crystal Reports.
[Re: setting up AD and Kerberos with Java|https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=18094821&messageID=6024617] - I don't think this is my issue...?
Here are the specs of the machines:
First Workstation:
Windows XP SP3
Crystal Reports 11.0.0.895 (after all the installs were over and I rolled back a couple SPs)
Second Worktation:
Windows XP SP3
Crystal Reports 11.0.0.2812 (after all the installs were over)
My Workstation:
Windows XP SP2
Crystal Reports 11.0.0.1994
BOE Server:
BOEXI 11.0.0.7485
CMS 11.0.0.1886
I am very new to Crystal Reports, so I may have missed something in the installation that would have prevented this.  Is there a way to make Crystal Reports "point" to the BOE server via LDAP?  I couldn't find anything like this though.  Any help you could provide would be great!
Thanks so much in advance!
Bryce

Thanks Tim,
I cannot seem to find Crystal Reports XI Release 1 Service Pack 3.  All I can find on the SAP Support Portal (under the Business Objects Support - Software Downloads section) are SP1, SP2, and SP4.
We can access BOE via LDAP from other Crystal clients, and we can access InfoView from other clients also.  The client that is having trouble accessing BOE with Crystal Reports via LDAP is able to access InfoView.
Should I try CR XI R1 SP3?  If so, could you point me in the right direction to find it?
Thanks!
Bryce

  • Security plugin error

    I have CR XI SP2 and currently users are not able to log into CMC or Inforview. We used Windows AD but it is giving us the following error
    Error updating Windows AD authentication properties: Security plugin error: An error has occurred in the plugin, but the plugin is unable to return a detailed error message.
    Can someone help me with this?

    Are you getting this from Crystal Reports designer? go to help/about and let us know the full version info. There were problems with CR XIR1 11.0.x and CR XIR2 SP3 11.5.1076. Both require patches.
    That error indicates something unexpected caused the plugin to fail, I've also seen it caused by time inconsistancies when using kerberos.

  • Crystal report logon Failed Error

    Dear All
    We have installed BOBJ Edge 3.1 Server at Windows Server.
    We insalled Crystal Report 2008 at one of our Laptop.  (Client).
    When we tried to create a sample report,
    we selected a existing universe from the BOBJ Server.  When we selected it ask me for the server connection details. It connected and showed me the existing unverses.
    I selected say eFashion - and picked some fields and Click OK.
    Then it givs logon failed error.
    Can some one explian me where i am missing
    REgards,
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
    If the Universe is based off an ODBC connection, then the same ODBC connection (with the same name) needs to be present on the client machine too.
    So, like Don suggested, the client machine would need the same DB client too.
    Open the Universe in the Universe Designer. Go to File > Parameters > Edit. This is where you see all the connection information of the Universe.

  • Crystal Reports logon issue across firewall - Transport error:communication

    Hi,
    We are facing an error when we try to logon to the BO server using the crystal reports tool (Crystal Reports Enterprise XI Release 2 ) outside the firewall. The login is working fine when inside the firewall. The BO server is on a unix box within the customer network and we are trying to login from a PC (using Crystal Reports Enterprise XI Release 2) which is outside that network. The following are the errors we get when trying to logon using authentication as "Enterprise" and system name as "fully qualified server name:6400"
    1. Without including any IP addresses in the PC host file we get "Transport error:communication failure" on login.
    2. When I included the IP and name of the BO server in the PC host file (xx.xx.xx.xx host name) we get an error - "CMS host 'xxxx' address was resolved properly,but cannot be reached to establish a CMS connection.Verify your router/firewall allows communication on port 6400."
    (The IP address I include in the PC host file is the actual IP address of the BO server)
    3. I know we have natted IP addresses.. and the IP address of the BO server appears to be different when I do a ping to the BO server from outside the customer network i.e from the external PC. When I include the IP address in the host file (which I get from the ping <servername> outside the customer network from my PC) I get "Transport error:communication failure".
    The port 6400 has been opened in the firewall. We are able to login to the CMC link and the Info view without any issues.
    It will be great to get some advise on this as it has become a high priority issue in our workspace now.
    Thanks,
    Reeti

    Hi All,
    I had a breakthrough in logging to BOX1R2 Crystal Reports client outside the firewall. The following was done in our case:
    1. Open the port 6400 on the server to allow traffic from outside the firewall.
    2. Add the following command at the end in the cmsLAUNCH command line in ccm.config (ours is a BO server on Sun OS)
    -port FQDN:6400 -requestport XXXX
    The -port parameter was explicitly specified to make CMS explicitly listen on port 6400.
    The -requestport parameter was added to configure the server to register a fixed port (which has external access) with the CMS rather than letting it choose a dynamically selected one...so XXXX can be any port which is not allocated to any app and is also open in the firewall)
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Reports 2008 Trial Version Runtime Error

    Hello
    Yesterday I've downloaded Crystal Reports 2008 (Trial Version). The installation was successful. I've got no error.
    Anyway, I'm unable to start Crystal Reports. I get the following error:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime LIbrary
    Runtime Error!
    Program: ...ects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32x86\crw32.exe
    Abnormal Program Termination
    I've already tried all "solutions" mentioned in Re: Crystal Reports 2008 trial version ERROR (DEP, HW acceleration, etc.) but without success (I'm running Windows XP with SP2). I've also updated Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 resp. 2008 redistributables...
    Can someone help me?
    Thank you!

    Hi Patrick,
    Nothing Strange about it. You need local Admin rights to access registry and other parts and CR needs the same.
    Check anti-virus or possibly firewall settings. When you installed did the installer ask you to allow All users to run CR?
    You may want to check with your IT guys, they may have modified your local user group to not allow some rights.
    Bottom kine is your PC security is blocking access that CR needs under your local user account.
    When you do try to run it does UAC pop up a message to allow you to run CR Designer? If not then it may be you have customer settings for that also.
    Search Microsofts site on more info on user rights.
    Thanks
    Don

  • Crystal Report throws Unexpected Database Connector error

    Hi,<br>
    <br>
    We are using Crystal report 2008 CR4E API to implement the crystal report in our application. We use the below code to reset the report data source with our application data source. It works fine for most of the simple queries. But if the query contains any function defined in the SELECT Clause it throws Unexpected Database Connector error. As per the log and analysis we believe the root cause of the exception is it consider that function as column in the table and throws the SQL Exception that "function is Invalid Identifier". Could you please help in resolving this issue?

    i'm also getting the same error when i'm trying to call stored procedure (that will fetch the result set and populate the report) through the query in the report-viewer.jsp. The result set is fetched i.e. when i print the result set it shows on tomcat but it is not getting passed to Table object to populate the report. However when i try to give the query explicitly in the form of SELECT statements, it works fine i.e. i can view the report in the browser. But giving query in the form of SELECT is a very naive way and is ok if u have too less reports not requiring too many joins, thats why i was using stored procedure. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer - No Error Popup

    Similar to this post:  Error message that says "No Error" from CR Viewer, I have just upgraded by Application to .net 4.0 and Crystal Reports 2010. The report viewer works fine the first time a report is loaded, but when I change the parameters on the report, and put the updated report back into the report viewer, I get the message shown above.  The report does not change its parameters and the updated report is not displayed.  The code in question is setting the date parameters for the report.  The user can select new date parameters from the form that encloses the report viewer.  The code subclasses the Report Object code to add additional functions through interfaces.  The IDateRange interface provides a starting and ending date range for the report using a property on the report class as follows:
        Public Property EndingDate() As Date Implements IDateRange.EndingDate
            Get
                Return _endingDate
            End Get

        If Refresh And bRefresh Then
            If dtpToDate.Value <> CDate(dtpToDate.Tag) OrElse _
               dtpFromDate.Value <> CDate(dtpFromDate.Tag) Then
                    System.Windows.Forms.Application.DoEvents()
                If CRV.Visible Then CRV.ReportSource = rpt ' The popup appears when this statement is executed.
                If CRV.Visible = True Then CRV.Refresh()
                dtpToDate.Tag = dtpToDate.Value
                dtpFromDate.Tag = dtpFromDate.Value
               Return True
            End If
        End If
    Catch ex As Exception
        DisplayException(ex)
    End Try
    Return False
    End Function

    Problem has been resolved.  I downloaded Support Pack 8 (v.13.0.8.1216) from this location.  I then applied the fix from the entry above:
    With CRV ' Report Viewer Control
        If .Visible Then
            If .ParameterFieldInfo IsNot Nothing Then .ParameterFieldInfo.Clear()
            .ReportSource = rpt
            .Refresh()
        End If
    End With
    And no more annoying "No Error" messages.

  • Crystal Report Viewer Microsoft JScript runtime error

    When I use the crystal viewer control to render a report on the screen I receive the following error message:
    Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support property or method 'isObject' ... and the following line is hilighted:
    if(!bobj.isObject(json)).
    Here is the markup for the test page I'm using
    {<body>
    <form id="form1" runat="server">
    <CR:CrystalReportViewer ID="CrystalReportViewer1" runat="server"
    AutoDataBind="true" ReportSourceID="crSource" />
    <CR:CrystalReportSource ID="crSource" runat="server">
    </CR:CrystalReportSource>
    </form>}
    I believe I set all info on crSource correctly (report path etc ...) because If I remove the Crystal reports viewer from the page and just use the crsource (i.e crptSource.ReportDocument.ExportToHttpResponse ...) I can export the report OK. Its only when I have the crViewer on the page Is when I recieve this error.

    I uninstalled crystal reports, and reinstalled crystal reports 2008 sp3 (Full build) - No help
    When I goto help about visual studio it says crystal reports 2008 (No specific version info)
    Assembly cache on the machine has
    12.0.2000.0 and 12.0.1100.00 as the vast majority ... a few (Design and Engine) have older 10.5.3700 and so forth (There are so many)
    I found this problem on the web with different solutions involving frame work folder or not having IIS setup to server the crystal reports viewer ... this is happening to me on my local development machine using the ASP.Net Develepoment server included with VS2008 ..
    Any help you could give me would greatly be appreciated

    Hi Kevin,
    Take a look at below SAP Note.

    I got this result just by searching 'bobj is undefined javascript' in the top right search box.

  • Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1: Error while saving report to BI platform "There was an unexpected error saving your report to the server. Please try again or contact your administrator if the problem persists."

    Hi All,
    I am able to create a report in Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 on top of an OLAP connection (data source BEx query). However, when I am trying to save this report to BI platform, I am running into the following error:
    The error was not resolved even after applying the following SAP KBA notes:
    1676033
    1709390
    1922003
    1727813
    Below is the excerpt in the error log (on the path mentioned in SAP NOTE: 1709390),
    However, could not make much sense out of it, as to how can the issue be resolved. If anyone has useful insights on this issue, please share the same with me.
    Regards,
    Alston

    Hi Alston
    Since you have CR for Enterprise then you also have BI and thus most likely you also have an S user ID. You can use the S user ID to create a phone incident at it is part of your Enterprise Support Package. Just saying as this may be the most efficient way of proceeding at this time(?). But please don't take as me trying to push you off of SCN .

  • Crystal Reports scheduled in CMC Fails -Error: database connector error

    Hi,
    I am trying to schedule Crystal Report from the CMC. The report is created on top of InfoCube out of the SAP BI 7.0 server. On scheduling I am getting a particular error as u201CDatabase Connector Erroru201D.
    Is there any way to troubleshoot this. Do we need to configure BW Publisher parameters for the new SAP BI7.0 server with BO Enterprise Server which is tried out recently?
    All this processes work fine with the BW3.5 server for which I believe the configuration for the connection settings is already done.
    Thanks,
    Amogh

    Hi Ingo,
    The Crystal Report is built on top of InfOCube in SAP BI7.0 Server.Glad to tell you that the Reports do not give anymore while
    scheduling in CMC. It was an authorization issue with my user id in SAP BI7.0 System which the BASIS has resolved now.
    Referring to your question, somebody earlier suggested me that whenever BO Enterprise server needs to communicate with a new SAP BI Server we need to establish the connection through Universe Designer and test the connection and there is no other way create connection through the CMC.
    If there is a better way, please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Amogh

  • Crystal Report That Uses Stored Procedure Errors when connecting to the DB

    We had developed reports a few years ago, including one that calls a Stored Procedure on an iSeries AS400 DB2 database.  We upgraded our environments to Crystal Reports 2008 and BO XI 3.1.  Now, the existing report that previously ran in the old environment is not running (note that the other SQL-based reports work without a problem, only this one which uses a store procedure is not working).  I downloaded the report into my local Crystal Reports designer and tried to run it from there and I got the following error message:
    ======
    Failed to retieve data from the database.
    Details: ADO Error Code: 0x
    Source Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
    Description: [IBM][iSeries Access ODBC Driver] Statement violates access rule:  Connection is set to read only.
    SQL State: 37000
    Native Error: [Database Vendor Code: 30186 ]
    ======
    {CALL "<database>"."<library>"."RELEASEDNOTINVOICE"({d '2010-03-01'})}
    This call will still work from on a SQL client running on a JDBC connection.  Is there some problem with the new verion of BO and Crystal Reports with using the iSeries ODBC driver?

    ...my issue was resolved by setting the ODBC.INI registry entry for AllowProcCalls from 0 to 1.

  • Crystal Reports XI: Invalid column name error

    Hello!
    I have a crystal report using a SQL command that is getting the following error (occasionally):
    Failed to retrieve data from the database.
    Details: ADO Error Code: 0x80040e14
    Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
    Description: Invalid column name 'IPCSKUGroup'.
    SQL State: 42S22
    Native Error: 207 [Database Vendor Code: 207]
    I say occasionally because if i go to Database>> Log on or Log off server and log off the target server and then rerun the report, it will work.  If i refresh the report with different parameters, i get the error.
    I'm running Crystal Reports XI version 11.0.0.1282 on Windows XP SP2 32-bit.  The data is in a SQL Server 2000 database.
    This is the portion of the query causing the problem:
    (drop/clear temp tables and initiallize a few variables with parameters)
    (...other queries putting together the temp table #WorkingTotals) - This part works fine because the report runs if i remove the following portion.
    select wtt.QtrMax,QuarterName,Year,wtt.IPCSKUGroup as IPCSKUNum,ServicePriceSuggested,PcsBilled,BilledRevenue,PriceIndex,StdRevenue,
    (select sum(TT.BilledRevenue) from
    (select Top 4 wt2.BilledRevenue
    from #WorkingTotals2 wt2
    where wt2.IPCSKUGroup = wtt.IPCSKUGroup and wt2.QtrMax <= wtt.QtrMax order by wt2.QtrMax desc)as TT)
    as M12Revenue
    from #WorkingTotals wtt
    The entire query works fine when I run it in SQL Query Analyzer.  But Crystal has an issue with the way i'm figuring the M12Revenue field.  The M12Revenue is a moving 12 month revenue which is the sum of the revenue for the past 4 quarters for each quarter.
    This is what i've tried thus far:
    Putting the entire query into a stored procedure
    Storing what gets stored in #WorkingTotals into a database table rather than a temp one
    Renaming columns to various different things.
    Each of those still resulted in the error.
    Thanks for the help!!!
    Wes

    Hi Wes,
    What does SQL Profiler show you when the error happens?
    Try using ODBC to see if it also errors, may be an issue in MS's MDAC and the OLE DB driver. MS usually updates MDAC with all Patches but you may want to verify you are using the latest version.
    Thank you
    Don

  • Crystal Report XI – MultiThread failed - PEOpenEngineEx Error:512

    In Crystal Report XI u2013 Multi Thread - function PEOpenEngineEx failed. Reason: Report engine not opened
    Hi
    I am using Crystal report XI with Delphi 7
    OS: Windows XP.
    Delphi 7
    CR Version: Crystal Report XI
    In Crystal Report XI While calling PEOpenEngineEx() by setting Engine option as multi thread, It failed with error message u201CError:512 Report Engine Not Openedu201D
    Code Change in Delphi 7 UCrpe32.pas (Crystal Reports XI Release 1 - Service Pack 3 and Service Pack 4)
      aEngineOptions.openEngineType := PE_OE_MULTI_THREADED;
      FEngineOpened := FCrpeEngine.PEOpenEngineEx(EngineOptions);
    I tried the same with Crystal Report 8.5 (above mentioned code change) Function PEOpenEngineEx() working fine.
    How to overcome this error to make work Multi Thread using CR XI?
    Regards,
    Jamson.

    I would make verify the database within Crystal report and then re publish it again. It seems it doesn't get the connection to the db.
    Have you refreshed the database within Crystal Reports?
    As Graham said, does it open in Crystal Viewer?
    another thing would be to add the DSN (System DSN) onto your client machine as well. Maybe it is not getting a right connection.
    Try it and let us know.
    Kind Regards
    Jehanzeb

  • Crystal reports 10 - Invalid Argument Provided Error obtained

    Post Author: p8***8
    CA Forum: General
    I have a report that takes a USERID value(int) as a parameter(user supplied).  This report works for all parameter values except one(so I know this has nothing to do with stored procedure permissions).  If I run the associated stored procedure independently for this parameter value, it returns the complete result set.  Also, the data obtained from the database tables is validated, so I doubt that the report encountered some invalid value.  The Stored Procedure that the report uses does not call any other procedure.  I don't understand what invalid argument the report comes across causing it to throw this error.  The only thing I can think of is the enormous result set that is returned for this particular parameter(over 8000 records).  Is there a limit to the report size in Crystal Reports version 10?

    can you run it locally outside the viewer?
