Crystal Reports ODBO Driver Access

Hi,
I follow the steps on the sbop_sm_config_help_75sp3.pdf to configuring the odbo driver to acces SSM data in PAS cube, but i did it on a cliente machine, after follow all step i go to crystal reports to create the conection to the cube and i get the message Failed to initialize (Returned E_FAIL (0x80004005)). check the SOFA.log and view this message Failed to locate the LogFormat settings in the registry. In this case, the LogFormat will use the default format.
Please anyone let me know what to do to correct this.
thanks in advance.
Martí

Hi Martin,
You can use the crystal in client machine to connect to SSM server, but i guess the drivers that support this ODBO connection has to be configured on the server. Because I've built some universes and webi reports using webi rich client connecting to SSM server. I remember that I haven't done any configuration in client. All the cofigurations are done in SSM Server.
Please let me know your comments.

How do I establish a connection between Crystal Reports and an access database hosted on a Sharepoint Access Services site? I've searched the forums but can't find any guidance.

    Hi Angela,
Through an ODBC connection is about the only way, how to configure it would be up to Share Points help file to describe if it supports it.

  • How do I open a Crystal Report from Microsoft Access?

I'm looking for step-by-step instructions on how to launch a Crystal Report from a Microsoft Access application (for a dummy like me).
My Crystal Report uses a connection to the Access database as the data.
I have Microsoft Access 2002 with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.5.
I have Crystal Reports 2008 CR Developer 12.
I'll need to know where to find the Visual Basic code references, and/or ActiveX Controls, if applicable.
    Thanks

    I concur with Don. Just a bit of help - a sample VBA app is here;
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006013432008E/rdc_vba.exe
But as Don mentioned, you will have to downgrade to CR XI r2 (or lower) to implement the above solution.

  • Missing records: Crystal Reports MDX driver bug?

    Dear,
A Crystal Report based on a SAP BW MDX Query is not showing exactly the same results as when launching the Bex Query alone. No filters have been applied however in the crystal report.
The strange thing is that as long as I do not add a specific field in my Crystal report (0PROJECT), the numbers (totals etc.) are correct (=the same as when launching the Bex Query alone in Bex Analyzer). However, when adding the field 0PROJECT in the 'details' section of the Crystal Report, the totals, sums etc.. change and the numbers are no longer correct (some records are not taken into account, the total is lower)
This strange behaviour is only present when using the MDX driver. When the normal SAP BW query driver is used, all is fine (but the MDX functionalities are missing)
    Crystal Reports version = 12.3.1.684
SAP integration Kit has been installed
SAP Bex Query Designer= Support Package 12, Revision 642
Somebody knows how to explain/resolve this?
    kr,
    Toon Francx

    hi guys,
    lets be clear here:
Ingo: Indeed, when launching the MDX query via MDXTEST, i get the same results as in Crystal Reports (so with the omitted records)
When launching the bex query separately everything works perfectly though
    >> so you are basically saying that MDXTEST is showing you exactly the result as crystal Reports. If yes - then the problem is NOT in Crystal Reports.

  • Crystal Report 7 with Access 97 giving Error - 20536

Our client is getting an error at his  machine.
Application is in VB 6.0 with Access 97 as database and while generating reports,it gives error "Runtime Error 20536 Unable to Connect: Incorrect Log On Parameters" .Report version is Crystal Report 7.
Also client has Win XP sp3 OS.
This error was not reproducible at our machines which has the same OS.
Please if anyone could help in this regard ,that will be really great.

    Hello Prachi,
Crystal Reports 7 reached End of Life for patch support in August, 2002. CR7 was released in 1998 - long before the XP operating system was released. Back then Crystal Decisions rarely went back and added OS support for the older versions of Crystal Reports. There weren't major changes to Windows until Vista/Win7, so that's probably why it's working on your machine.
The KB article links that don't work can be found with manual searching. You can go to [http://service.sap.com/support|http://service.sap.com/support], click on the Help & Support link, and then click on the SAP xSearch link. Use the "C-number" listed in the document in the Search For field and click on Go. The KBA that corresponds to that particular "C-number" will have that "C-number" in the Keyword section of the article. Other articles may reference that "C-number" so your search may return more than one result. It is unlikely that the document with the links will be updated due to its age.
You can use a utility called Modules to see if you can find any DLL differences between the working and non-working machine. You can download it from SAP at this link: [https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip]. There are instruction in the ZIP archive. Run the utility on the non-working machine and the working machine. Save the two results and then compare them and address any differences.
I'm rusty on database connectivity issues so perhaps Ludek or someone else can throw in some additional suggestions related to OLE DB connectivity.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Crystal Reports crashes when accessing Help or refreshing report data

I am running Crystal Reports 2008 (v12.0.0.683) on the same server as Business Objects XI 3.0.  When I open a report in the Crystal Reports 2008 designer client, the client crashes without any error messages if I try to access the Help files or refresh the current report data.  My report does include parameters and a subreport.  I am logging onto the Windows 2003 SP2 server via a Remote Desktop connection.  Any ideas?

First of all your report must be able to run on the server, as well as the PC you created it on.  So the first thing to do is instal crystal developer (or whatever you used to create the report) on the server and see if you can run your report.  If not you will need to set up the same connection (same name too) on the server as you use on your PC to create the report.  Then try again and it should work.
Next in the CMC in the Web browser, go to objects and find your file.  Click on it to open up its properties and then select the Process Tab and then Database.  Then you can fill in the password for your connection.  At the bottom click on the lower radial button to "Use Same Database Logon"
This is a pain, and needs doing everytime you change and resave the report.
Let me know how you get on.

  • Accessing Lotus Notes from Crystal Reports in AIX

    Hi BO world
We've installed the BO Enterprise Server  on an AIX 5.3 platform and we want to connect this BO server to a Lotus Domino Server (version 8 on a Windows Server Platform ) to show the data on Crystal Reports. The problem is that we can't find any information about how to make this connection to use the Crystal Report INSIDE the InfoView (of course we can export the RPT file and use it with the Crystal Report Viewer but the idea is run the report inside the InfoView).
In our PC's we have installed the Lotus Notes Client and the corresponding ODBC client (Lotus Notes SQL) and the crystal reports work correctly (accessing to the LNotes Server) BUT, when we start looking for any ODBC for AIX to connect to the Lotus Notes and we can't find any tool to do this.
Could you give any idea o "something" to solve this problem? Let's say
       - Which is the version of ODBC/JDBC driver we have to install in the AIX server to access the L.Notes on the Windows Platform?
       - Should we install the Crystal Report Server in another server (let's say a Windows Server with the corresponding ODBC)
       - Others?
Any help will be great  !
    Kindly Regards, gdmon.

    Hello,
Moved this to the BOE forum.
If AIX and Lotus do not have an ODBC driver then I suspect your only option would be to have a Windows BOE install to process those reports so you can use the Windows ODBC driver.
This is a requirement for Crystal reports to connect. If Lotus doesn't support AIX connectivity then we can't either.
Possibly the BOE forum has some configuration options for you...
    Thank you

  • Crystal reports server and microsoft access db

    Hi
I have created a Crystal Report using Crystal Reports XI. In terms of a datasource I simply used a unc path to the actual mdb file.
I can open the report local on the PC in CR XI and the report runs no problem however I have deployed to our Crystal Reports server XI so that users can use it.
The problem is that when I try to run the report from the Info view console it keeps asking me for a user id and password. I have logged into the CMC admin console and looked at the properites of the report and the process/database tab however not matter what I configure in there it either asks for the username and password or says invlaid object when I try to view the report.
I have created other reports which have used an SQL database as the data source and published them to the CR Server and they work no problem so I am guessing I need to change something for using an Access DB as the dataource. Not usr eif that change is in Crystal Reports XI or Crystal Reports Server?
    Can anyone help?
    Many thanks

  • Mapping Access 2010 Query Expressions In Crystal Reports

    Hello,
I am new to Crystal Reports.
When I change the datasource of a Crystal report to an Access 2010 query that has an expression in it, it is not able to map that calculated field. The expression in question is a simple iif statement that yields a yes or no, given the condition that's met. It works fine in Access and is very basic.
But I can't get it to map in Crystal - so I tested it by changing the expression in Access to defect:"x" - even simpler. It still shows up in Crystal as unmapped when I point to the query and hit the Crystal update button.
Can Crystal map expressions in an Access 2010 query, or does it just handle straight table fields that occur in a table or query?
    Regards,
    Dan

    Hello Dan,
When pointing your report from one data source, to another one, the reason it does not initially map the field, it is because they are seen as defined with different data type. One is defined with 255 characters, and the other one is seen as a Memo. In the "Map Fields" window, uncheck  the option "Match type", and you will then be able to map your expression field manually.
Note that the MS Access provider, send the information to Crystal Reports regarding the data type, and the fact it is different, it is because the provider used send different information to Crystal Reports, and if a field is defined with more than 255 characters, it will be seen as a memo field.
There is nothing that can be done in Crystal Reports to change the data type as it is provided by the database provider.
By design, it does not list a memo field as a database field you can group by, because large string generally contains a description, comments, ... and this type of information is generally always different, so there is no reason to group by those field with that data type.
Having said that, it is possible to group by a formula that contains the memo field to give the flexibility to bring back a portion of the characters that the memo field contains. To do so:
    1. Create a formula that uses the memo field like:
         {Database.MemoField}
    2. Save and close the formula.
    3. Under the menu "Insert", select "Group"
    4. In the "Insert Group" window, select the formula created in the previous
    steps to group by.
This information is available in the SAP Knowledge Base Article:
1214731 - Unable to group on a memo field in Crystal Reports
I hope the above information answered your questions.

  • Crystal Reports 11 - Could not find installable ISAM

Using Crystal Reports 11 to access an ODBC csv data source, I am getting the following message when trying to connect:
"HY000: [Microsoft][ODBC Text Driver] Could not find installable ISAM. [Database Vendor Code: -1056]"
I am unsure what this means and can't find any info relating to Crystal on the web. Can anyone help please?

    Hello Tara,
I recommend to post this query to the [Crystal Reports Design|SAP Crystal Reports; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to the creation and design of Crystal Report documents. This includes topics such as database connectivity, parameters and parameter prompting, report formulas, record selection formulas, charting, sorting, grouping, totaling, printing, and exporting but also installation and registering.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all Crystal Reports Design queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.

  • Crystal Report Using ECC Data has Auth error in Infoview

We've created a Crystal report that successfully accesses ECC data from a function module in our Dev environment when the report is executed from within Crystal Designer.  When we try to execute the same report against the same development ECC system from within InfoView we get the following error:
ERROR: The Database Logon Information for this report is either incomplete or incorrect.
The connection information is the same as it is in designer. We are able to successfully run Crystal Reports over BW data within InfoView. Any ideas about what might be wrong?
    Doug

    Ingo,
The consumers of the report do have ECC access for order and inventory management so licensing should not be an issue.
We were able to resolve the issue. The problem was with our version of SAP GUI on the BO Dev server.
We had to update our u201CServices.dllu201D and our u201CSAPLogonTree.xmlu201D file with an accurate version.  Once that was done, the report executed as expected in InfoView using LDAP.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    HI
Crystal report server2008 (XI R2): CMC session timeout error
Accessing folders, scheduling reporting or running reports are working fine with Central Management Console (CMC) within the Crystal report server or accessing CMC within VPN machine.  But when CMC is accessed through browser from client desktop i.e through proxy URL, users are not able to access folder or personal folders to view any reports even admin user is not able to access folders. When users try to access folder or personal folders it gives session-timeout errors. Within less than a 1 or 2 minutes it is showing session timeout error. Appreciates any one help on this quickly.

Please post your query to the [Business Objects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum. • Crystal Reports 2008; Can't select the certain table. Why?

    Please help me everyone!
    problem note:
I'm using Crystal Report 2008 to access MS SQL Server 2005 Database.
Everything was good until last month.
But somehow when I select the table "FTABLE11C", Crystal Repors hanging-up and no more Crystal Reports works.
If I copy the FTRAN11C to different name such as "aaa" using following statement and use Crystal Reports then I can select the "aaa" whthout problems.
Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C.
So, I drop the tbale FTRAN11C and copy FTRAN11C from aaa table using following statement,
select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
and select the FTRAN11C again on Crystal Reports 2008, Crystal Reports 2008 hanging-up again.
I'd like to know how to solve this situation.
    Thanks.
    1. We didn't have any patch on SQL Server.
    2. I delete one field on table that named "FTRAN11C".
       That's all.
    3. I tried following steps;
       a. Copy the file to another name.
Select * into aaa from FTRAN11C
       b. Droped the bad table.
            Drop table FTRAN11C
       c. Copy back from saved table.
Select * into FTRAN11C from aaa
    4. Open Crystal Reports 2008
       a. Connect to database with OLD DB.
Crystal Reports shows all the tables within database without any problems.
       b. Select the table aaa.
No problems. It shows on right side box.
       c. Select the table FTRAN11C that is recently created from saved table.
           Now we have problems.
It does not shows on right side box.
            Little circle displaying forever.
If I click right side x, Crystal Reports 2008 is closed.
    5. If I use following command on SQL Server Management Studio Express, all of data shows without any problems.
           Select * from FTRAN11C

Install all patches as you are on the original release:
Be sure you have the keycode, used to install the product, I will not be able to get you a new one if you lose it or don't have it available.
The easiest way to update is to uninstall CR 2008 and then install Service Pack 3 full build:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009989492010E/cr2008_sp3_fullbuild.zip
    Then install SP 4:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100008782452011E/cr2008sp4.exe
    Then test your reports again.
As for using/upgrading to CR 2011 it's not required and likely won't make any difference but you can upgrade if you want of course.

Hi there, I am getting the following error in Crystal Reports Server  when i try to preview or schedule a Crystal Report on an Access 2000 database.
Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters
The Access database does not have has not username or password and I have left these blank when publishing it, and the Database properties in the Central Management Console also show the username and password as blank.
All other reports are fine is it just reports on the Access 2000 database that give me this errror.
    Anyone any ideas.

    Hi,
ok now you have to make ure that the user used to run the BOBJ services on your BO server (if you hvae windows then this is the local system account), has access to your AccessDB. Normally local users do not have access to network locations so it is advisable to create a domain user, who is allowed to access the directory with your database and is melber of the local administrators group on the BOBJ server. All you have to do then is to  configure your BOBJ services (Use the Central Configuration Management utility to do this) to run under the credentials (Log-on-as) of user you created.
