Crystal Reports - Report blank in viewer

I have a .Net web page that displays a crystal report. I am using VS2010 Pro, and was using CR free version for VS. Created the report, and it did display on the web page. I have since upgraded to CR2011. I opened the report in CR2011, and updated. I can run my web page from  VS debugger, and the report displays. But when I move the report to production, and run the web page on production, the report does not display in the CR Viewer. Although I can export the report, and all data is there. So it appears there is some issue with the viewer, maybe becuase I changed the report via CR now, rather than VS? Please help!

I'm on training until next week, so I spend little time on these forum, or testing any issues at all. This leaves us with a few options:
1) Create a phone case [here|http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/en_US/pd/productID.98078100?resid=S6I@hgoHAkEAAGsiyVkAAAAR&rests=1282226845369]. You'll get prompt attention to the issue and if it is a bug, your case will be refunded.
2) Wait, see if anyone else with time can test this for you (or knows of the issue)
3) Wait until next week and I'll see if I can get some time to test this.
Please see the blog [What are these 'support' forums good for anyhow?|/people/ludek.uher/blog/2011/04/07/what-are-these-support-forums-good-for-anyhow] for more details re. testing, phone cases, etc.

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer Error in 1 Workstation after upgrade of PL

    Hi all,
    We just upgraded SAP from 8.82 PL02 to 8.82 PL15.
    Afterwards, in just 1 workstation, Crystal Reports layouts have Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer error I attach.
    Before the upgrade this error did not happen.
    No permissions or authorizations were changed  in the workstation.
    The Crystal Reports layouts remain working fine in server and in the other workstations.
    In the workstation following are installed:
    - Operating System Windows 7;
    - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5;
    - SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for. NET Framework;
    - Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP6;
    - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client.
    All, but the operating system, are equal to the other workstations.
    User has edit access to SAP folders, temp and access to the attach path.
    We already uninstalled SAP client and client agent and re-installed it but with no avail.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer problems - table could not be found

    Hi,
    I installed Crystal Report Viewer in SAP Business One 2007. All the while, I can run the reports without any problem. but when I loaded some of the new report, it gives me the following error message:
    the caption says: "Crystal Reports Windows Forms Viewer"
    the message says: "The table 'paymentVoucher' could not be found.
    Error in file C:\...paymentVoucher.rpt. The table could not be found."
    By the way, I can run the report in another workstation.
    Any help or ideas of why this is happening or how to solve this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    The report is not created by me. I just help others to transfer the report from one workstation to another workstation. PaymentVoucher is a view in the database and it is being put at a workstation that can be shared by everyone.
    I've go through other forums and found out that it might be permission issues and now managed to solve the problem already.
    Thanks everyone for the advice.

  • Crystal Reports Active X Viewer 64-Bit

    Hi All,
    I am searching for some information regarding support of the Crystal Reports Active X viewer with 64-Bit Internet Explorer (version 8)
    We use Cyrstal Report 9, 10, 11 and 11.5 on our clients servers and have no issues with the 32 bit version of Internet Explorer (including on 64-bit operating systems). We have one client attempting to use 64 bit Internet Explorer 8 but this is not showing any reports.
    Even when having manually installed the Active X dll's it still does not work.
    Can someone advise if this set up is possible/supported?
    As I understand it, it is not possible.
    Regards
    Matthew Haines

    Hello,
    All of those versions are 32 bit only and I doubt 64 bit IE will support 32 bit ActiveX controls. No solution for you.
    Possibly moving to CR For VS 2010 and the Cr .NET assemblies may work.
    64 bit IE is not very stable and not many people use it. I suggest you recommend staying away from it at this time. Or at lease CR doesn't like it either.
    Good luck

  • Cannot display Crystal Report with ActiveX Viewer

    I am using SmartViewerActivex.asp in a classic ASP website to display Crystal Reports and the report will not load.
    I get a blank grey screen with only the toolbar showing but able to export out with data intact.
    I am  using CR9, running in Windows Server 2012 R2 IIS 8.5.
    I've already spent about 2 weeks and have not found an answer. Please HELP!

    Unfortunately, no help available. I suspect when CR 9 released in 2002, Win Server 2012 was not even a twinkle in Bill's eye. E.g.; you are looking for CR 9 to be 10+ years forward compatible. In other words, it is not supported on WIN server 2012.
    Possible option is to upgrade to CR XI R2 (v. 11.5). There you have a weak prayer and hope. With luck it may work. Note that CR XI r2 was the last version of CR to include the AcitiveX viewer. And CR XI R2 has been out of support for over 2 years now.
    Best bet: CR SDK for VS .NET or CR SDK for Java. This would mean a new app...

    u2022 Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 FP 3.5
    u2022 Tomcat 5.5
    u2022 Windows Server 2003
    u2022 JDK Version: 1.6
    u2022 Internet Explorer 8 - compatibility mode
    u2022 client machines Windows XP Professional SP3
    Issue:
    The browser shuts down after last page is queued for printing upon installing ActiveX print control for the first time in all XP SP3 environments.  Issue does not occur when using Vista or Windows 7.  Subsequent printing works fine after ActiveX print control has been installed once.
    Steps Taken:
    -"Enabled memory protection to help mitigate online attacks" option in IE and turned on DEP on OS - this is mandatory for company security policies.  Issue does not occur if this option is turned off.
    -Not reproducible on my end under same environment
    -PDF printing works, however this is not a feasible solution
    -issue does not occur for IE6 and IE7 in XP, and IE8 on Windows 7
    -disabling DEP via boot.ini also removes issue
    -upgrading client workstation to Windows 7 also not a viable solution
    -validated version of  \Business Objects\common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12 \ActiveXControls\PrintControl.dll on the BOE server as 12.3.1.684
    -on client machines, added to Trusted Sites  the web site of report origin. Open internet explorer >Tools>Internet Options>Security Tab>Trusted Sites Security Zone >Click Sites> Add Site by typing the web site address---> Click Add -->OK then close the internet Options dialog box.
    -not applicable solution, BO XI R2 - "Blank "Crystal Reports Viewer" window - attempt to print report

    Hi Seb,
    It's already been validated that turning off DEP works. however, DEP is mandatory for this customer.
    I did come across the release notes for IE8 at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/ie/dd441788, indicating the following,
    Turn off Data Execution Prevention group policy
    The Group Policy setting, Turn off Data Execution Prevention (Windows Components | Internet Explorer | Security Features), does not currently function as expected. While the Internet Control Panel option will appear to be disabled, Data Execution Prevention is still turned on. This is a known problem and will be corrected it in a future update.

  • Issue with use of shared variables in Crystal Reports 2008 Offline Viewer

    Hi,
    I have a report that contains a number of sub-reports which include drill-down functionality. The report returns data relating to an individual team with the user being able to view top level summary information in each area from the parent report and then drill into the sub-reports to view see more detail. The data returned by the sub-reports is filtered, using sub-report links, based on the team code parameter value given by the user. This parameter field resides in the main report.
    One of the values returned by the main report is the team name. This is passed to each sub-report using a shared variable and each sub-report displays this team name as part of a heading.
    This all works fine in Crystal Reports 2008, but when a report, containing data, is opened using Crystal 2008 Offline Viewer there is a problem with the shared variable. The value is displayed correctly when the user initially drills into the sub-report. However, when the user begins to drill into grouped data within the sub-report the value passed to the sub-report using the shared variable disappears.
    How can I ensure that, when a report is viewed using Crystal Offline Viewer 2008, the value within the shared variable is not lost when users drill into grouped data within sub-reports
    Thanks
    Stuart

  • Cannot save Crystal report layout or view new layout of report

    I am trying to make a change to a system crystal report (cust. recievables detailed aging). I had to make the date feild a little wider, so I edited the "system layout" that came with SAP (in my test DB of course), and I go to add-ins>sap business one>save. I get the following error "current user has no permissions for this operation". I am logged in as a superuser and full perm.
    If I "save-as" and save it to a layout in sap....when I go to open the aging with my newly created layout it freezes and asks for DB logon info to connect to my server from crystal. I do not normally have to do this when I preview my reports in the out of the box layouts. WHat am I doing wrong? I am new to crystal.

    The system will not allow me to export the system crystal report....it is grayed out, and it IS a crystal report. HOwever I can open it in crystal, then save it to my desktop, then from INSIDE of SAP in the report and layout manager I import the crystal report I made the changes to from my desktop into SAP and it saves and imports no problems. However when I go to view the report (and this is only the ones I import), it prompts me with the db login for our server to connect, and it is only with that report, once I enter sa credentials it is fine and shows up from there on in, but not if I log out of SAP and back in...then I have to put in my credentials again. Is this something having to do with the report when I make changes to it? I cant have users entering login info each time they run the new aging details report. Please advise what I may be doing wrong when I make changes to a crystal report. It was a very minor change....just moved a feild width.

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer - No Error Popup

    Similar to this post:  Error message that says "No Error" from CR Viewer, I have just upgraded by Application to .net 4.0 and Crystal Reports 2010. The report viewer works fine the first time a report is loaded, but when I change the parameters on the report, and put the updated report back into the report viewer, I get the message shown above.  The report does not change its parameters and the updated report is not displayed.  The code in question is setting the date parameters for the report.  The user can select new date parameters from the form that encloses the report viewer.  The code subclasses the Report Object code to add additional functions through interfaces.  The IDateRange interface provides a starting and ending date range for the report using a property on the report class as follows:
        Public Property EndingDate() As Date Implements IDateRange.EndingDate
            Get
                Return _endingDate
            End Get
            Set(ByVal value As Date)
                _endingDate = value
                Me.SetParameterValue("EndingDate", value)
            End Set
        End Property
    In addition, the immediate Window shows the following message:
    A first chance exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll
    The code in the Report Viewer looks like this, see line marked in blue for when pop-up appears:
    ''' <summary>
    ''' Sets the report period and displays it.
    ''' </summary>
    ''' <param name="Report">The Report.</param>
    ''' <param name="Refresh">if set to <c>true</c> force a refresh.</param>

                rpt = CType(CRV.ReportSource, ReportClass)

               dtpFromDate.Value <> CDate(dtpFromDate.Tag) Then

                If CRV.Visible = True Then CRV.Refresh()
                dtpToDate.Tag = dtpToDate.Value

               Return True
            End If
        End If
    Catch ex As Exception
        DisplayException(ex)
    End Try
    Return False
    End Function

    Problem has been resolved.  I downloaded Support Pack 8 (v.13.0.8.1216) from this location.  I then applied the fix from the entry above:
    With CRV ' Report Viewer Control
        If .Visible Then
            If .ParameterFieldInfo IsNot Nothing Then .ParameterFieldInfo.Clear()
            .ReportSource = rpt
            .Refresh()
        End If
    End With
    And no more annoying "No Error" messages.

  • Multi pass bursting of a Crystal report on business view with a bex query

    In BO CMC, we have a group with a list of user.
    The idea is to burst (via the multi pass bursting method) a Crystal report for this list of user with the constraint that this report should only contains data of the store linked to the user.
    Our data comes from a SAP BI cube.
    The link between a Store and a User comes from an other system.
    We have build a bex query and use it as a data source of a Crystal Data Foundation.
    In this Data Foundation we have an other table storing the user ID and the Store ID.
    These 2 tables are linked in this Data Foundation on the Store ID.
    Business element and Business View have also been created on top of this Data Foundation.
    We have impletemented a filter in this Data Foundation to filter out data on the user id. This user id will be filled when bursting the report for all requested users thanks to this function :.
    As a user is linked to one store, the data foundation will filter the data coming from the bex query and show only the data of the user's store.
    We have build a crystal report using the business view created above as data source. We have made some test on a small amount of data and it works, data are correctly filter out and the reports shows only the data from one store.
    But the problem is that we have a lot of stores (more than 600) and doing this way implies that the bex query will always return the data for all the stores as the filter will occurs in the data foundation and not on the bex query.
    We need to find a way to make the bex query returning only the data of the store linked to the user for which we burst the report.
    As we have more than 600 stores this was an idea to avoid managing more than 600 under BO groups or more than 600 different filters.
    This solution do not work when the bex query result set is too large.
    Does anyone has an idea on how to implement such "dynamic" filter in the bex query? The parameter is the user ID but the filter to be applied on the bex query is on the store ID.
    We are under BO XI release 2, Crystal XI Release 2 and we have installed the BO release 2 integration kit for SAP

  • Crystal Report Windows Forms Viewer error: "The field name is not known"

    Hi,
    My report runs fine in the Crystal Reports viewer.  When we try to view the crystal report through a piece of 3rd party software, I start to get errors in a few of my formulas indicating that "the field name is not known".  I can clearly see that the field is in my crystal report.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any ideas on what might be happening?
    Thank you.

    Just to provide some further clarification on my problem:
    The "field name is not known" error seems to be occurring only in a few formulas where I have a statement like this:
    if ISNULL({somefieldfromdatabase}) Then
    I've used this for many other formulas and not had an issue with them.  I've verified that the database and the stored procedure contain this field.

  • Crystal Report Error when Viewing in VB6

    Post Author: aquiintac
    CA Forum: General
    I'm using crystal report and vb6. My first problem was how to change the data source location of the crystal report. I found away by using this: crxReport.Databases.SetDataSource rsReport
    but I'm having an exception report : "The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434f4d) occurred in the application at location 0x77e55e02"The report shows for some time but after opening several reports the error message occurs.This is my scenario:"I'm using a udl for my connection. I have two databases namely TK and TK_MCC. TK is for other company and TK_MCC is for the subsidiary company. I used TK database when I created the crystal report. I used the setdatasource to pass the recordset to change the datasource location of the crystal report. So even if they change the database TK to TK_MCC they can still access the report. But when I did the setdatasource there was an exception report. (The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434f4d) occurred in the application at location 0x77e55e02)"Before it was working fine when I don't have to change the database. But when I used crxReport.Database.SetDataSource rsReport this error happened.By the way, i tried it also in another computer (just installed the program) but the error message was different. The other error was error28 out of stack space and sometimes the program closes by itself.Can someone help me on this...Thank you very much.

    Seems to be working now.
    I upgraded CR and adobe.

  • Crystal report windows forms viewer - error in file

    I am using visual basic - visual studio 2005 with crystal reports version 11.5 and am getting the following error when deploying to a windows 7 32 bit machine
    Error in file
    c:\users\username\appdata\local\temp\tempmanynumbersandcharacters.rpt
    The request could not be submitted for background processing.
    All six reports for this application give the same error.  There is not a problem when it is deployed to a windows xp machine.  I have three other applications that do not have problems in windows xp or windows 7 32 bit.  I can't see any difference between these three apps and the one have a problem in windows 7.
    Thanks,

    You do not mention if you searched the forums and the Kbase for the error... Using the search box in the top right corner of this web page will return KBases, Blogs, Wikis, articles and more. The following article should have been returned with a simple search;

  • Print a PDF from a Crystal Report or CR Viewer?

    Is this possible?  Any hints on how to go about it?
    I'm not talking about exporting to PDF.  I want the PDF to be a section of the Crystal Report.
    Thank you in advance.
    JN

    To add to Jamie's post. Note that only the 1st page of the PDF will print. E.g.; to print multi-page PDF file, you'd need to insert the PDF as separate pages into report sections or subreports.
