Crystal Reports Server 2008 on Windows 2003 Server

We have Crystal Reports Server 2008 installed on Windows 2003 Server. Pretty standard install.
On the same Windows 2003 Server, we have IIS setup to host some other sites (data.mycompany.com, intranet.mycompany.com). Now since Crystal Reports Server 2008 is running through Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 that is installed with Crystal Reports Server 2008. I need to setup something like reports.mycompany.com for reporting server. Since it is not in IIS and it does not seem that this install of Tomcat allows you to set this up to point to reports.mycompany.com. I need some feedback on how to set this up.

Hello Shannon,
I recommend to post this query to the [BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration|BI Platform; forum.
This forum is dedicated to topics related to administration and configuration of BusinessObjects Enterprise, BusinessObjects Edge, and Crystal Reports Server.
It is monitored by qualified technicians and you will get a faster response there.
Also, all BOE Administration queries remain in one place and thus can be easily searched in one place.
Best regards,
Falk

  • Is Crystal RAS 9 compatible with Windows 2003 server?

We just upgraded out test RAS 9 server with Windows 2003 OS, and now the Crystal Report Application Server service won't start.  We're getting a 1053 error.   Is Crystal RAS 9 compatible with Windows 2003 server?

I do not believe 6X is supported in a 64 bit environment.
IF you are doing a fresh install on a different server, it should be easy to migrate your applications using the migration wizard in EAS. You can migrate applications, security everything except data. TO do that the easiest way is to export it and import into the application on the ner server.

all I can suggest is an http sniffing utility like [Charles|http://xk72.com/] or [Fiddeler|http://www.fiddlertool.com/fiddler/] and perhaps [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx] which will tell you the dlls loading by the process.
Perhaps somebody else may have an idea?

  • Best way to spec a new Linux server from existing Windows 2003 server?

We are looking to upgrade our servers to 11.1.2 and I am looking for some documentation/suggestions on the best way to spec the new box on a Linux platform.
I do have the current documentation from ORACLE with regard to "Estimating Disk and Memory Requirements" but am looking for some processor suggestions as well..
Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed.
Especially helpful would be anyone who is currently running in a Linux environment any pitfalls or issues you've been having with hardware or software.
    Thanks in advance.
    Adam,

I don't think it is possible to recommend you any hardware setup without knowing your environment, budget and expertise.
If you plan to install Enterprise Linux, like Oracle Linux, you should look into getting server hardware and not a desktop system. You may also want think about using Oracle VM virtualization products.
Are you looking for rackmount or blade systems? it might be possible to limit your hardware decision between HP, Dell and IBM. I would personally prefer HP, but that's a matter of experience.
You should probably find out your OS requirements. E-business products and installation instructions are usually designed for the OS version that existed at that time. If you install a newer version of the OS you may run into configuration or backward compatibility issues that may require to install additional software. You should check your OS requirements first before purchasing any hardware. The newest hardware may not support older versions of the OS.
The HP support side shows a Linux certification matrix at: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hplinuxcert.html which might be helpful should you decide to get HP equipment.
You might also want to check your current Oracle licensing if you upgrade to a faster or more CPU's.

  • Central Mangement Console logon wont work-Crystal reports sever 2008 instal

I installed Crystal Reports Sever 2008 on a new server and am unable to log onto the CMC.  I have tried with a password and reinstalled without a password.  I have also tried the WACS as well as Tomcat for my web app server.  It is a win 2008 with SQL 2005 server.  We created our own database with the collation of Latin1_Gernerl_CI_AS.
Now when we try to log onto the CCM, the password works fine.  We try to log onto CMC with the same credentials and we return with the same log on screen(no error just loops us back to the same screen as before and removes our username and password).  If we try a wrong password it will return with red letters saying "Account information not recognized......"
Anyone have a solution to this?  We have restarted all sevices and reinstalled at least 6 times.  Please help.
    Yvette

try another browser, another computer, using the IP address or FQDN in the URL instead of hostname, disableing windows enhanced security on the server... Let us know

  • After installing Crystal Reports XI on Windows 2003 server with one error..

After installing Crystal Reports XI on Windows 2003 server with one error... REGSVR sapldap.dll error.  I had to regsvr it manually.  Crystal still didn't run.  Found out that Crystal Reports XI will not run until you change DEP to protect only windows program and services.  Thanks.

Thank you for sharing your finding. Very much appreciated.
The DEP is a known issue and it is documented in [this|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_erq/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes.do] note.
Crystal Reports XI was not compiled with the nx flag as it released before Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows 2003 Service Pack 1.
As for the sapldap.dll. I'm not sure where this is coming from. I do not see this dll on my install, however it does come with the SAP portal integration kit. So I'm not sure if that is flying around somewhere on that server(?)

  • Crystal Ras 9 on Windows 2003 Server, IIS6.0, single threaded?

We have just migrated from Windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 Server over the weekend. We ran into an issue with Crystal Ras 9.0 where the server serving up reports slower that our previous box. We are using IIS 6.0 and .net 2.0 framework with 1.1 installed for backward compat on our some of our old legacy codes. From what our developers can tell, the issue seems to be Crystal Ras queuing up the request and process them one at a time. That didn't happen before the migration. In fact, we also saw it working in our test environment before the migration. Once the pool is filled no further reports are generated which causes all report to stop which also starts to hang our server. They symptoms is worst under heavy user load. We tested with 6 simultaneous users and all 6 are done at the same time no matter the size of the report. Even the one that fail with an error message came up at the exact same time.
Are there anyway we can adjust the IIS pools and or Crystal Ras to support additional threads?  We are connecting to Windows 2008 SQL Server EE. Any suggestions and or help is appreciated. I cannot find any references that would help us diagnose this further.
Also, if you can also detail the cost to buying a phone case, that would be helpful as well.
    Thanks
    -atiwat

Since you are not changing the version of RAS, I am not sure why the queuing would be different on different Operating Systems? You may want to check on how the queuing is setup on the WIN 200 server and duplicate that on the WIN 2003 server. Also, RAS has a limited number of licenses out of the box. Ensure that you are using the same license on both environments.
Re. phone support. You can obtain a phone case here:
    http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryID=11522300
However, please note that support of version 9 products terminated years ago, so you will not be able to get support for your version. To get phone support, you will have to upgrade to a supported version of RAS (XI r2 at minimum).
    Ludek
BTW.; Windows 2008 SQL Server EE came way after RAS / CR 9 and has thus not been tested in this environment...

  • I installed Crystal Reports server 2008, i'm geting server not started erro

    Hi,
I'm getting error with server not started or not available error (FWM 01003). If i check in CCM, i don't see any entry for CMS server entry. How to start CMS server??? Please advise me. i installed trail version of crystal reports server 2008.
    thanks in advance!!!
    Ben.

I am a consultant for Business Object products and experienced the same exact problem. We were installing Business Objects Edge, which is similar to Crystal Reports Server 2008, with MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 for the CMS System Database on a server that was named <Numbers>-<Letters>.
We discovered that some scripts that the installation and CMS run fail when the Server Name of the Business Objects Edge Server start with a number. When the CMS System Database is setup, a table called CMS_IdNumbers6 is created. It should have three columns, NameId, IdName and third column that is named after the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, Business Objects Edge or Business Objects Enterprise. This column is called <ServerName>_iad_intensive_int_6400.
This column fails to get created when your server name starts with a number and subsequent scripts that insert records into this column fail. Renaming the server where we were installing Business Objects Edge to <Letters><Numbers> (no dashes either to be safe) solved the problem. We were successfully able to install Business Objects Edge. Please note: This is the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 that needs to be renamed and NOT the MS SQL Server--just making a note because we had to go back and forth with our server team a couple of times on this point.

  • Mac G5 reports a windows 2003 server has only 3.4 megs when it has 534 megs

Hello, We use a Windows 2003 Server. We have several macs connected to that server. 1 of these macs shows the windows network share as having only 3.4 megs free. The other macs show the windows share having 500 megs free. The server share does have 500megs free.
Why would this one mac report that there are only 3.4 megs free?
    Thank you in advance.

We have narrowed down the problem and found the culprit.
The issue is only repeatable on 10.4.x (we used 10.4.11 for testing, but it may affect earlier versions as well)
10.4.11 Local folder created with trailing space in the name, then copied to the Windows 2003 server = loss of security tab on this folder
10.4.11 existing folder on the server has a trailing space added to the folder name = loss of security tab on this folder
10.4.11 existing folder on the server has the trailing space REMOVED from the end of the folder name = security tab returns with permissions in tact
10.5.x Local folder created with trailing space in the name, then copied to the Windows 2003 server = no problem
10.5.x existing folder on the server has a trailing space added to the folder name = no problem
10.5.x existing folder (created under 10.4.11) with trailing space in the folder name has the space removed = Error code 43, unknown error occured
Also interesting is that the illegal characters for Windows \ / * : ? " | in the folder name prevent the folder being copied to the Windows 2003 server in 10.4.11, but are allowed in 10.5.x - all expect the : which is an illegal character in OS-X as well. None of these illegal characters cause issues on the Windows 2003 server as they are simply translated to a space.
The solution would be either as AJ mentioned to purchase Thursby AdmitMac or to upgrade all the users to 10.5.x (which I'm sure would make Apple happier!)

  • 11.5.10.2 Installation on windows 2003 server  Cygwin Software.

    Hi
I used Cygwin instead of Mks tool kit in apps 11i(11.5.10.2) on windows 2003 server. Installation is completed succefully. I am able to open the forms without error. But while patching I am facing problem. for testing the Cygwin implementation I tried to relink FND programs. I got the error the error message is as follows.
set EnvAdrelink:Error:Cannot Open registry key: \SOFTWARE\ORACLE
    aiosp2() Error: failure in usdspn()
    contents of error buffer are:
"usdsop cannot create a new process
cause: usdsop encountered an error creating a new process. [Reason].
Can anybody help me the process.
    Regards,

    Hi Saawan,
Now I format the system and Installed fresh application 11i(11.5.10.2) on windows 2003 EE.Now I select the prerequest software as visualstudio 2008 Express Edition and VC++6.0 redistributable package x86 (Doc ID 1095124.1), Mks toolkit I used 8.1 version and Gnumake I used 3.78.1(Doc ID 268776.1). The Installation is completed Successfully. The application is working fine. While i want to test the adrelink using adadmin I got the following error. adrelink is completed with status 1 and it is completely exit ( Not finished the script and come to command prompt) Here i am enclosing the adrelink log file.
