How to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server
Hi all,
Is it possible to use oracle functions in Crystal Reports XI using Oracle Server as Data Source.
If i try to use a procedure,i am getting error with message "Invalid Arguement Provided".
Functions are not visible objects like tables, views and stored procedures.
The jdbs driver i m using is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.I think it is not possible to add functions in crystal directly for any database. You need to use those functions in a stored procedure and add that storedprocedure as a datasource.

Deplying Crystal report on Oracle Appliaction Server
Hi
Our current application has Oracle reports deployed on Oracle AS and Oracle Report Server. Can we replicate same scenario for Crystal report.
Means can we use Crystal Report on Oracle App Server / Oracle Report Server. Or do I need to use Crystal report ServerPost Author: synapsevampire
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
You need to understand the potential pitfalls of you process first.
First I'll assume that you have joined the two datasources on some field, something that you should include in your post. Please state in your next posting.
When you do so, then all of the processing related to joining the data happens within Crystal, and it is NOT a fast database server.
So it can take a looooooooooooooong time to do this, depending upon the number of rows and the joins involved. You haven't posted anything about the amount of rows returned by either query form Oracle or SQL Server, so we can't speak to that. Instead you say that you did it with Oracle and Access, which is pretty much meaningless here. The Access or Oracle table could have had only a few rows, this isn't a matter of Crystal slowing because certain types of connectivity or databases are used, it is a matter of volume.
I would consider linking the Oracle tables into the SQL Server database, or as many do, LINK (not import) all of the tables into an Access database and then do the queries in Access and expose a query as the source for the Crystal Report.
In either case, something will need to do the processing, and having Crystal do so is probably the slowest of your options.

Crystal reports and adobe workflows server
Hi,
Is there a way to integrate crystal reports and adobe workflow server

RajaI believe AWS 6.2 supports Crystal Rpt 8.5, but don't hold be to it.
The AWS appl. does come with prebuilt reports incl. You should check the documentation concerning installation, but I believe AWS requires the Crystal Engine to be installed on the same server as the AWS Web Access component. -
Crystal Reports 9 and SQL Server 2005 default parameter values
We're using Crystal Reports 9 and upgraded from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005.
I'm noticing a very weird problem which I wonder if anyone else has experienced (and hopefully found a resolution for). It appears that in using Crystal with SQL Server 2005 stored procedures, if we have default parameter values in the stored procedures, the default parameter values get completely ignored if you pass in a NULL value from Crystal!
For example, if you have a stored procedure that begins like this:
ALTER Procedure [dbo].[StoredProcedure]
@Param1 VarChar(200) = '',
@Param2 VarChar(200) = ''
AS ...
both @Param1 and @Param2 have a default value of an empty string, and therefore should become empty strings if nothing (NULL values) gets passed in for them.
But, like I said, what I'm finding is that with Crystal calling the stored procedure with NULL @Param1 and @Param2 values, they never become empty strings, but rather remain as NULLs.
This was never a problem with SQL 2000.
Very perplexing. Anyone else every experience this?
Thank you. Please ignore my earlier post -- answered my own question.
NULL parameter values do not get replaced by default values in SQL -- that is normal behavior in both SQL 2000 and SQL 2005. Just goes to show, that no many how many years programming experience you have, you can still get tripped up sometimes : ( -

Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime, Windows Server 2008 64-Bit AND SharePoint2007
Hi Guys,
here i'm again.
Well I'm developing on a 32-Bit OS with Crystal Reports 2008. I've deployed my solution to SharePoint, but when i try to call a report in the aspx-Website i get the following error:
Exception Details: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.LoadSaveReportException: An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime. Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly. Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.
Here are the technical details:
- Windows Server 2008 (64Bit)
- IIS7
- Microsoft Office Server 2008 (64Bit)
- Crystal Reports 2008 SP3
I've read, that there isn't a 64-Bit runtime version of CR2008. Then i tryed the two following suggestions i found in this forum:
1. Try to run the IIS-Application-Pool in 32-Bit-Mode -> This don't work, because SharePoint then throws a "Internal Server Error - Code 500" (no SharePoint Sites are available).
2. Try to compile the Visual Studio Project as 32-Bit -> This don't work, because SharePoint could not load the assembly
Well, are there any other hints, suggestions or experiences how i could get this to work?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Crystal Report 2008 on Windows Server 2008 64bit
hi,
I tried to run a Crystal Reports Web Application on a Windows Server 2008 64bit but I got this error:
"Bei der Erzeugung des Reports ist ein Fehler aufgetreten.

The System:
- Windows Server 2008 Standard 64bit SP2
- Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
- Oracle Client 10gR2 64bit
- I tried Crystal Report 2008 Runtime, Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP1, Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP2, Crystal Report 2008 Runtime SP3.
- Crystal Report Basic Runtime for Visual Studio 2008 (x64)
On a 32bit-system or 32bit-mode (and 32bit Oracle Client) everything is working fine. But I have to use the 64bit Oracle Client, therefore, Crystal Report have to work in 64bit-mode.
Is it possible and what is to do to get it working, thanks,
MartinIt does work on 64 bit OS - as a 32 bit application. CR 2008 is 32 bit only.

Is there a way to convert Crystal Reports to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 reporting services?
Post Author: Lourdes Hernandez
CA Forum: General
Our department has always worked with and we love Crystal Reports. Unfortunately, certain reports now need to be converted to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 reporting services which from what I read I think they are *.rdl reports. Does Crystal reports have any way around this? I would have to learn this other tool when I'm already so happy with Crystal. I was thinking If I could just code the report in crystal and export it in a specific format that would be compatible Microsoft, the problem would be solved.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Post Author: bettername

Ditto!
There are some software packages to convert from CR to RS, but none work 100% AFAIK, and will require manual tuning.
Seems like a big hassle and learning curve just to get reports published via another method - I know I'd put up huge resistance if they tried to take my CR away from me! -
Crystal Reports XI - Installation on Server 2008 r2

It installs fine, I choose a custom install and selected all components to be installed, yet when I run it I get an error saying "Crystal Reports has stopped responding"
Is there anything I need to do to get it working in this environment?

Connection problem in Crystal Reports for Eclipse(SQL Server Express 2008)
I tried to connect into a local SQL Server Express 2008 database in Crystal Reports for Eclipse (CR4E), but always got the Ping failed message(TCP/IP connection failed) even I tests completed successfully using my Window XP Adminstrators Tools (SQL Server ODBC Data Source Test). I can connect successfully to a remote network Oracle database in CR4E. I would like to know
that is there any one who connect SQL Server Express 2008 local database successfully in CR4E?Don,
Thanks for your suggestions. I will follow your instruction to connect to SQL Server Express 2008 database latelly. I can connect successfully with different Oracle databases (10g) in CR4E. I will try to connect MySQL database and Postgres database in CR4E to see if they can be successful or not. My project involves international entities with emphsizing in using OPEN SOURCE softwares (which means FREE - no license fees) in .NET platform for Oracle, SQL Server Express, MySQL and Postgres database servers. I am responsible for reports generation. I hope that CR4E can be connected successfully to SQL Server Express 2008 database server, otherwise I have to use JFreeReport/JFreeChart tools to do reports generation . -

Crystal Reports 9 - Installation on Server 2008
Hi,
I have moved our installation of Crystal 9 from server 2000 on to a Server 2008 x64 r2 and am having a few little issues:
The program has installed and ran correctly, but when it goes to open a file it comes up saying:
'Failed to open the documents'
'ufmanager.dll is not found'
Then the program just sits there and doesn't open the file.
Does anyone know what we can do?Hello,
Is this an application you wrote or are you just installing CR 9 Designer on the Server? CR 9 had no concept of 64 bit OS's so it's likely a 32 bit dependency missing that the ufmanager.dll is looking for.
If it is an application then make sure you build it for 32 bit mode only.
You could try using Process Monitor from www.sysinternals.com and see what it's looking for.
CR 9 ended it's supported life cycle a long time ago so Windows 2008 has never been tested nor will it be.
You may want to search in the Crystal Reports Developer forums on 64 bit, lots of info on how to and may solve your issue.
Good luck

Using Crystal Reports on a Citrix server
Post Author: rmarty
CA Forum: Deployment
I have a 2003 .net windows application that internal crystal reports built in using Crystal 11 SP2. On a basic client the merge modules and the reports run fine without incident.
This does not work on a Citrix server. I get a report load error.
Does the CR 11 Runtime need to be installed on the Citrix server?
Is there some special procedures or applications I need to install?
I don't believe I should have to install a server license for this to work or be licensed.
Anyone have experience with CR11 in a windows application running on a Citrix server?Hello,
There is no supported method of using Crystal Reports without deploying the appropriate runtime files. Since Crystal Reports is not fully managed by the .NET framework this additional step is required.

Problem is saving crystal reports to SAP BI server
Hi,
we have installed the crystal report 2008 and the SAP add-on on the desktop.
we have designed a formatted report in crystal report designer using an existing BW report that was created using Bex query designer. After this its askign for the BW role to save. Which BW role we need to give?
We have not published the report to crystal enterprise server, since the connection to same is not in place.
We would like to know how to publish this report in Enterprise portal ?
Can we bypass publishing the report to crystal enterprise server and publish the report on browser or through EP ?Post Author: bettername
