Crystal Reports Server XI upgrade to Crystal Reports Server 2008

I have downloaded the Crystal Reports Server 2008 upgrade from the portal.  Questions:
The "Upgrading Your Crystal Reports Server Delpoyment from XI or XI Relase 2 to Crystal Rpeorts Server 2008" (simple install) documentation mentions that the installer should recognize my installation and prompt to upgrade.  Instead, the first prompt that I get is for a license key.  Is this normal, or should the application be seeing my existing install?
If I do indeed need a 2008 license key, how do I obtain one?  It will not accept may CRXI Server keys, and I cannot see anyplace to download the new keys.
Any help would be appreciated.
Jeff

Hi,
I think you can request for new keys:
For a new key:
Request key codes for new orders via SAP Marketplace (SMP), will receive a download letter on new purchases providing them with their SMP login credentials. Using these credentials you can login and click in the "Keys & Requests" tab > Request a License key.
If your Key code does not work
You need create a customer message https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/message using component XX-SER-LIKEY-BOJ.

  • "Load report failed" after upgrading to Crystal Report for VS 2010

I switched to Visual Studio 2010 few months ago. Today, I needed to update my Crystal Report reports, so I installed the Crystal Report for Visual Studio 2010 on my local server. I updated my reports and it works fine on my local server.
On my remote server, I installed the Crystal Report runtime engine for Framework 4.0 (note that my project use the framework 3.5) and published my project. But now I got the following error when I want to create a report "Load report failed". I double-checked the path of my report and its permissions (note that it was working before the update).
    Am I missing a step ?
    Thanks for your help.

Googling 'FILE LOCKED WITH ONLY READERS' I came up with the following:
    http://forum.sysinternals.com/topic21378.html
So, no, that does not appear to be the issue.
However my assertion - given that the correct dlls are loading - is still that either the report is not there (do you see it loaded in Process Monitor?) or the process has no access to either the actual rpt or the temp files that the print engine creates. Those really are the only reasons for report load errors.
This being a web app, try a simple win app - as a test. All you need is the viewer and CrystalreportViewer1.ReportSource = <path to report> (use a saved data report). Compile, throw the exe on the server. Run. What happens there?

  • Problems using SQL Server 2014 upgrade advisor on a windows 2008 sp2 server

I got sql server 2014 upgrade advisor up and running on a windows 2012 vm and every thing works fine, but I am having trouble installing it locally for a SSRS Box. The SSRS box is running windows 2008 sp2 enterprise edition, but when I try
and run the SQLUA.msi install nothing happens.
    anyone else experience this issue?

    Hi jesse,
    Welcome to the forum :-)
Can you please clarify your issue in more details. I did not understand what you are doing. What do you mean by "installing it locally for a SSRS Box". Do you mean that you are trying a simple installation which do not work, and raise an error?
If so then (1) we dont need the extra information about "why you need the SQL Server" :-) we just need to help you install it regardless the SSRS. (2) We do need the full error log and the error message that you get.
By the way, The SQLUA.msi is just a small utilities named "Upgrade Advisor"

  • Dead 10.6 Server, Forced Upgrade to 10.9 Server

Hello all, and thank you for your help in advance.
The hard drive died on my 10.6.8 server. So, I am migrating to new harrdware and 10.9.2 Server 3.1.1.
I installed 10.9.2 on the new server, Xcode 5.1.1, and Server 3.1.1. All the software is up to date.
Then I used the Migration Assistant to pull the old data from the Time Machine backup of my 10.6.8 server.
I setup the basic server setings, made sure the Users were still there, then I went to Websites in Server. Nothing was setup. No big deal, I setup my websites and virtial domains. Then I moved the websites from their old folder:
    /Library/WebServer/Documents/
    to their new folder
    /Library/Server/Web/Data/Sites
and I associated each website with their proper folder.
I turned the Websites services on, and all was good.
I setup File Sharing, turned it on, and all was good.
Then I went to Mail, and all was not good. Mail will not get past "Starting".
I repaired the permissions on the drive, and I rooted around the logs. I found a couple of small problems and I fixed them. But still no luck. There's nothing in /Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/ either, which I presume where my emails should be.
I've been working on this for a couple of days now and I'm ready to start over, but I don't want to lose my users emails. So here's my plan.
Question 1. I intend to export the Users from 10.9 (since they're setup all nice and pretty) and reimport them on a fresh-not-migrated setup. How do I export my users and their settings? I don't need their home folders or anything like that because they're mail only users - but they do have email aliases - and some are forward only users (no local mail storage).
Question 2. Where does 10.9 keep user's mail? Is it
    /Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail/
Question 3. How do I migrate users email? Do I just copy from
    /backup/…/private/var/spool/imap/dovecot/mail/
    to the 10.9 folder?
Question 4. How do I associate the old mail with its proper account on 10.9?
    Best Regards,
    Tiger

Those folder names are normal - thay are the GUID (GeneratedUID) for each user.
You can check the GUID for a user with:
         dscl /Search -read /Users/bob GeneratedUID
Or check the owner of the GUID with
         dscl /Search -search /Users GeneratedUID 7B99D102-36F6-4595-9ADD-32CD4803D870
If you did a migration, then you've retained each user's GUID, so they are properly associated.
I generally avoid a migration - instead opting to export users from 10.6 and import them into 10.9
This process retains the user's GUID - but you lose their password.
You do need to reset permissions, under 10.6 - wach GUID folder was owned by the user.
With 10.9, all of them shoould be owned by _dovecot and group mail
So moving mail is pretty simple.
Export users, import into new server.
    Reset passwords
Setup server the way you want it.
Copy mailstore to where it should be and then change it's owner/group.
The location of the mailstore can be checked or set with serveradmin
    sudo serveradmin settings mail:imap:partition-default
You would reset permissions something like this
    sudo chown -R _dovecot:mail /Library/Server/Mail/Data/mail

  • Can't login to server after upgrading to 2012 R2 from 2008 R2.

I upgraded my Server 2008 R2 server to Server 2012 R2 standard.  I am at the login screen.  I press control + alt + del and select the Administrator account (as usual).  I enter my password and press enter.  The screen turn black
and flickers, and then returns to the control + alt +delete screen.  No matter how many times I attempt to login, it doesn't work.  If I reboot the server, it rolls back to 2008 R2.
What can I do to get past this issue?

    Hi Smidley,
In addition, I also recommend you can follow this article to perform the upgrade and feedback.
Note: you need to evaluate if software installed on your Windows Server 2008 R2 is compatible and supported on Windows Server 2012/2012R2. When you find any incompaticle software you need to upgrade or uninstall.

  • Crystal Reports version 10  error when displaying report

Hello: New member here, been lurking around for a while. A lot of good information here.
I do hope this is the right place to ask this first question.  I have a customer that has a Crystal Reports 10 installation and cannot display reports since he upgraded from Crystal report 8 to Crystal reports 10
The error he gets is pop message:
CRAXDT error Occurred on Server Error Number: -2147221005 Error description: 006ASP 0177Server
    CreateObject Failed~800401f3
Connection to the database is good we checked with query using SQL.
Let me know what you think I should check next.
    I appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Damon

1212487 - Error: "CRAXDRT Error Occured on Server. Error Number:-2147221005"
    Symptom
A report is called through the Active Server Pages (ASP) Report Server to be displayed in the Report Viewer for ActiveX. However, the report is displayed with blank pages and when the viewer is switched to the Report Viewer for HTML the following error is displayed:
"CRAXDRT Error Occurred on Server. Error Number:-2147221005 Error Description: 006ASP 0177 Server.CreateObject Failed~Invalid Class String"
The same ASP application returns the report correctly when it is called from a client computer with the full version of Crystal Report 8 Developer Edition installed.
    Resolution
It was found that the file, Emfgen.dll, was not installed and registered on the web server computer during the installation of the Crystal Reports ASP Reports Server. The report could be displayed correctly on the client computer, without Crystal Reports Developer Edition installed, after this file had been installed on the web server computer.

  • Upgrade from Crystal Enterprise 9 to Crystal Server 2011

As I know, the latest version is Crystal Server 2011 which is a part of the Business Intelligence platform 4.0.  Is it correct ?
The manual says that Crystal Enterprise 9 CANNOT upgrade to Crystal Server 2011 directly.  It needs 2 steps.
    Crystal Enterprise 9  -
    >  Business Object XI R2  -
    >  Crystal Server 2011
But I cannot find any trial version of Business Object XI R2.  How can I test the upgrade?
Is there other method to upgrade?  E.g. transfer the oracle database to the new system?
    Regards,
    Kelvin

If you are paying maintenance, you should be able to ask for a key for XIR2 version.

  • Crystal Report Server XIR2 upgrade to CRS 2008V1

    Hi,
I am planning to upgrade my Crystal Report Server XI R2 to CRS 2008 V1. I was thinking of testing in separate machine as a fresh installation and migrating everything using the Import Wizard. I have one concern on this- after I test everything on that new machine, the existing Crystal Production Server machine will no longer be used right? I was wondering if my boss wants me to use the same old machine for production. If so then would I be able to migrate everything from that new test machine to the existing Production machine without affecting the old version in production. For that do I have to install a fresh copy in existing production and then migrate from test machine?

    Hi,
well you will certainly affect the old version in production.
Cause when you initially migrated from Rel.2 to 2008 you cant go back. So unfortunalty you have to install 2008 on the old server.

  • Report fails to generate on Crystal Reports Server

    Post Author: cmilkosk
    CA Forum: General
    Hello all!
I have a case open with BO on generating a report from a Crystal Reports Server (CRS).  The report works fine when running in Crystal Reports on my PC, but after I send it to the Crystal Reports Server, it fails with a message like:"Failed to open the connection.
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 11.5\Data\procSched\metrixdb.reportjobserver\~tmp9bc512965895e0.rpt"This error appears to be telling you that it is trying to connect to
the CRS's reportjobserver process and having a problem, but the service is up according to the Central Config Manager. I tried starting and stopping it, but it didn't make a difference.  This happens for different reports sent to the server.  One common thing that I've noticed is that the reports that connect to the CRS's local SQL Server 2005 database are the ones that are failing.  So, my CRS resides on the same host as the SQL Server 2005 database (which also houses the CRS SQL DB).  Interestingly, reports scheduled that connect to a remote SQL Server 2000 database work fine.  It could be the simplest report that I am running off of the CRS/SQL Server 2005 host, and it still fails every time. Tech support so far hasn't been much of a help. They suggested that I upgrade my Crystal Reports software on my PC to R2, but that didn't fix the problem.Has anyone had any trouble like this before?  If so, have you found out what the cause was?I'm beginning to wonder if it is related to SQL Server 2005 or potentially just that it is connecting to a local database.Note - my CRS's software version appears to be 11.5.3.438.  I'm not sure if I am running CRS R1 or R2 (how can you tell?).Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,Chris

  • Upgrading from CRYSTAL REPORTS XI TO X1 RELEASE 2

CA Forum: Migration to XI R2
    Hi there
We have crystal reports XI running on our production server. We have now our application converted to Visual Studio 2005 and in order to use crystal reports with Visual Studio 2005 we need to upgrade to crystal reports Release 2 version.
If we decide to update with Release 2 version , should the production servers need also be updated ? Or when the application built in VS 2005 is deployed to production will deploy the Release 2 version crystal dlls to the server which already has Crystal Reports XI.
    Any information will be advisable.
    Thanks again

  • Upgrade of Crystal Reports from version 7 to 2011.

I have a LIMS system that uses Crystal 7 to generate Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for products that my company produces.  The LIMS  app resides on a terminal server and user connect to the terminal server via citrix.  The app has been around since 2000 and is running on Windows Server 2000.  The crystal 7 is apparently a runtime version.
I have been tasks with upgrading the terminal server to Windows 2008 64 bit server.  I have installed the app on the server and the app performs as it should except for printing the COAs.  I downloaded a trial version of Crystal Reports 2011.  I can open and print COAs from with the Crystal 2011 application.
The App Devloper states that the existing system uses a call to crpe32.dll to print the reports.  When I try generate a COA I get the following errors.
    Crystal Reports error:525
Function: PEOpenPrintJob has reported an error.
There is something wrong with the report you are trying to open.
    Crystal Reports error:512
Function: GeneralPrint has reported an error.
The print engine must be open for the call to be sucessful.  Your code is lacking a PEOpenEngine call.
The crpe32.dll file is in the application root directory, in the c:windows\system32 directory, and the c:\prgram files(x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0/win32_x86 directory.
This may be more information that needed.  Anyway, any Idea how to get my app to print from Crystal Reports 2011.

    Hi Deano,
Using Crystal 7 runtimes on Windows Server 2008 is really not a good idea.

  • Crystal Reports: How to change Oracle OLE DB server at runtime

    Post Author: dvlasman
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm using a rpt made with Crystal Reports 8.0.1 and VB 6. The report was made using the Microsoft OLE DB provider for Oracle. What I want to do is change to Oracle server / database the report is connecting to at run time before the report is displayed. I am using the Crystal Report Engine 8 Object Library (cpeaut32.dll), not the ocx. After creating the report object:Dim CrystalReport As CRPEAuto.ReportI open my report and discard saved data:'Open The ReportSet CrystalReport = CrystalApplication.OpenReport(msReportSource)CrystalReport.DiscardSavedDataConst sDBServer = "ORCL.SERVER" 'My TNS name for the Oracle ServerConst sDatabase = "ORCL.SERVER" 'I'm not sure what this value should beConst sUID = "system"Const sPwd = "manager"I was then going to change the database connection one of two ways:1:Dim objDatabaseTable As CRPEAuto.DatabaseTableFor Each objDatabaseTable In CrystalReport.Database.Tables    Call objDatabaseTable.SetLogOnInfo(sDBServer, sDATABASE, sUID, sPWD)    If (Not objDatabaseTable.TestConnectivity) Then        Debug.Print "Database failed connection: " & objDatabaseTable.Name    End IfNextSet objDatabaseTable = Nothing2:call crystalapplication.LogOnServer("pdsoledb.dll","MSDAORA.1",sDATABASE,sUID,sPWD)Neither of these two way gets me a successful connection. What am I doing wrong, and which is the preferred method to use?ThanksDean

Did you get a resolution to your problem? I cannot dynamically change the datasource location in .NET using CR XI via OLE DB for Oracle. I get "This field name is not known." messages and when I try using the set datasource location in the designer tool, the mapping dialog box comes up with no fields in the right box. Thanks, Brian

  • Upgraded to Crystal 2008 - one of my reports now has no data

Upgraded to Crystal 2008, now at (12.3.0.601).
However one of my reports (which was previously developed in Crystal X1) is now coming up blank.
I've tested the data on the previous system and the report comes back correctly so there is not an issue with data.
The report is built using XML Schema files and assigning the datasource from VS2008.
When the application is built with Crystal X1, this works fine.
I've refreshed the report using crystal 2008 but no good.
Other reports which use SP's as the source are working fine!
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the quick response.
What I mean by 'I refreshed the report in Crystal 2008' is that I opened the report in Crystal 2008 and verified it.
I did not have to do this with the other reports.
I cannot test this in the designer as the data gets assigned from the application.
However, the old version of the report with the same data works fine.
Note - there are no error message. The report displays with no data.
There are no code change made so everything points to the report which is strange.
Other reports work correctly but this one is different as it uses XML source.
    Thanks.

  • Lose functionality in some reports when upgrading to Crystal XI

Hello All, I was in the process of upgrading all my reports
to crystal XI. As a results, some of the reports have seem to lose
their functionality when run through my VB app. If I run the reports
directly from Crystal 11 and enter in the parameter values manually, it
works fine, but when I run the reports through my VB app, some of the
reports lose their initial functionality. It mainly seems to be
misbehaving on show/hide functionality on subreports andshow/hide functionality on columns. For
example, I have a reports which has a subreport that is shown based on
the a parameter value (yes or no) .Well, this subreport shows up in any
case (whether it is yes or no) . It just seems like the subreport is
not recognizing the parameter from the main report. I've debugged the

Ah ok. Big help. One more thing if you don't mind, I think this answer is implied in the solution but that probably means any pictures I have on the phone I want to keep I should save to a card or upload to my album asap right. As I don't believe they can be uploaded to the online album since that's sending a message on the old phone.
You can send the pictures from your old phone to your email or online album. Just either do it before you activate the new phone, or temporarily reactivate the old phone, and transfer the pictures, then activate the new phone again. An SD card is also a good option, and easier.
As far as your texts, you can get them from your old phone to your new phone.
Download a software called BitPim to your computer, it lets you transfer pictures, texts, contacts, ringtones, calendar entries, etc.

  • Does Crystal Reports need to be on the web server?

    Hello,
here's my scenario. someone who left us moved a .Net web application from server 1 to server 2 and didn't leave us notes of what he did. The report came up on server 2 fine but was not getting the right data so we changed the datasource to get the data correctly.  Now we deployed the fixed version on server 2 and refreshed the web server.  Now we see the correct results BUT the Business Objects icons (e.g. BO image, print icon, forward and back icon) are all "X" meaning that they could not be found.
We took a look at server 1 and it had the full version of Crystal Reports installed on it.  On server 2 it looked like the DLLs were dumped into the GAC and that's all.
We're a bit perplexed by why it was working on server 2 with all the Business Objects icons even though Crystal Reports was not installed on it until we restarted the server with the fixed code.  We were thinking maybe it's some sort of caching??  I've never seen this before so I'm a bit perplexed.
Any ideas on why this happened?
    Thanks for taking a look.

    Hello Jeff
    Mysterious for sure. When you say;
no virtual directory to crystalreportviewers115 and Crystal reports is not installed on the server (except for seeing only a few CR Dll's)...so how the heck did he get it working
    You're essentially saying something like;
The car has no wheels, no engine, yet somehow it managed to get from point A to point B.
Sorry to say, but it ain't happening...
The only way to get a project that includes CR to work is to deploy the CR runtime. Either via MSI file where a simple double click will install the runtime and configure the viewer directory under the default app pool, or via a setup project you build using the CR MSM files. Again the files will be installed and the viewer directory configured under the default app pool. If your app is under a custom app pool, you need to configure the viewer folder under that pool as the install has no idea about non default app pools.
