Crystal Reports XI R2 Server:  InfoView - Save Preferences Issues

Hello All;
I beleive this issue is related to how I set the security for the users/groups/folders.
Once I have the user defined and attached to a group then to a folder, I cannot save it preferences in InfoView.  Any suggestions how the security is suppose to set up from the user to the folder level.
I sign on as administrator in CMC under Business Object Enterprise Application/Infoview, I have granted rights to change user preferences. but left Everyone  will inherit rights from the parental group box unchecked.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
David Lee

Which preferences do you mean? The preferences every user can change (if allowed) in Infoview? i,e, what you see on the top-right corner in Infoview?

  • Distribute Crystal Report from BOE Server

    Hi,
    =========
    Installation on Client machine:
    Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP1 and SP2
SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP2
    Installation on BOE Server:
    BOE XI 3.1 SP2
SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP2
    Installation on BW:
    SAP BW 7
    ========
Created crystal report on top of SAP BW Query, and save/publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server directly via Crystal Report ->File ->Save as (I understand that we can also save the Crystal Report into BW role, then publish the Crystal Report into BOE Server via the BW Publish, but we're not using the BW Publish option here).
Now user can logon to BOE InfoView and execute/display the Crystal Report, no problem.
My question is in BOE Server, is there any functionality that allow us to execute the Crystal Report and send it to the user automatically via email? Just like the BEx Broadcaster functionality in SAP BW 7.
If yes, how can I do it?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Seb,
I have a look at the document: http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir31/en/xi3-1_bip_admin_en.pdf
I can see where to schedule the Crystal Reprot to run in the background and send out via email option.
However, I dont see how the report can be sent out from BOE server. Is there any setting need to be done so that BOE Server can send out the crystal report?
    Please help, thank you.

  • Crystal report server2008 (XI R2): InfoView Request timeout error

    HI
Crystal report server2008 (XI R2): InfoView Request timeout error
Some reports which are taking more than 10 to 15 minutess while running through InfoView gives error as follows:
An error has occured: Request timed out.
This error appears within the crystal  report server and when user tries to access through browser client desktop also. Sometimes it  prompts the error as follows when users try to access through browsers from there desk i.e through proxy connection.
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy serer could not handle the request POST/report/CrystalReports/Viewrpt.aspx.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
The timeout setting of all web.config files under infoviewapp, infoviewappactions, platform services, crystal reports folders have been checked and the default timeout 20 minutes is changed to 30 minutes and IIS is restarted, but still users are getting request timeout error within 10 to 15 minutes while running a crystal report. Even admin user.

CR XI R2 Service Pack 6 and Fix Pack 6.4 should work on Windows 2008. CR 2008 SP 2 and above also. Older version, no support for it.
CR is 32 bit, make sure the 32 bit client is installed and being used.

  • Open Crystal Report full screen at InfoView and hide navigation panel

    Dear all,
In InfoView, how to globally set so that Crystal Report document will be opened as full screen and also hiding the navigation panel.
I know InfoView > Preference can open in full screen, but this must be done for each user. How to set it globally for all users?
And also to hide the navigation panel on the left hand side (parameters, group tree) that applies for all user (global)?
    Thank you very much.
    Kind regards,
    aswin

    Dear Martijn van Foeken,
    Wow that's so advanced.
    1. Do you have any information like what table and field in CMS database that we need to change in order to modify the BOE user preferences in InfoView?
    2. For hiding the Navigation Panel in CR viewer, i was thinking if the setting might need to be done on the CR viewer. I tried changing the config file below:
    D:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\CrystalReports\crystalreportviewers\Web.config
In that config file there's a parameter below which i set to "true" but it doesn't work.
<!-- "true" or "false" value determining whether a group tree will be hidden by default if one is generated -->
        <add key="viewrpt.groupTreeHide" value="true"/>
    Any idea?
Thank you very much Martijn and Merry Christmas.

  • SAP Crystal report on Windows Server 2012

    Hi,
Let me explain my situation first.
I have Windows7 dev box with VS 2010, 2012 and 2013. My application backend is Oracle 10g.
I have an old application build in VS 2005 which I migrated to Framework 4.0 from 2.0.
I downloaded CR executable from "http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/cr4vs2010/CRforVS_13_0_9.exe" and it worked fine locally.
But when I deployed the same code on Windows Server 2012.. reports didn't appear.
    Please assist.

Well, let's get the easy one out of the way 1st
Licensing of the runtime. The runtime is free for win apps. For web apps it is also free - as long as the app is used within your organization. If the web app is used external to your org, you do need to obtain additional licensing. And for that you will have to contact sales: 866-681-3435
    Now, the actual issue:
Normally, the runtime is deployed using the MSI, MSM or CLickOnce, Nothing wrong with you installing VS on the server and then CR, but I suspect you're using up a VS license for that (expensive(?)), but that is a decision for you to make. E.g.; uninstalling VS and running the CR SP 9 MSI should suffice. To actually get the viewer working, I'd like you configure the viewer as per the direction in this blog:

  • Crystal Reports 10 Enterprise Server Issue - Exporting Large Reports to PDF

Weu2019re implementing a Crystal Reports 10 Server for a customer but weu2019re having an issue with exporting large reports to PDF.  The report size that starts to show this issue is roughly 300 pages with 20 records per page.  We use the default Crystal ActiveX viewer.
Basically what happens is that the user will launch the report in the ActiveX viewer and the large report will take a while to load, as much as 3 to 4 minutes.  The user may then wish to export to PDF.  Once they attempt it with these large reports the viewer will basically hang and possibly be processing but will then time-out after roughly 5 minutes with this error:
    u201CProxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /thinqreports/THINQCrystalInterface.asp.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
    IBM_HTTP_Server/6.1.0.9 Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) Server at lmsproxy.aurora.org Port 443u201D
We believe this error is coming from a server on our network.  We have a proxy server between users and the Crystal Server that has a 5 minute time-out for connections.  What we want to know is:
    - Is there a way to speed up this export to PDF process?
    - Should the Crystal Viewer be keeping an http connection alive to the Crystal Report Server while its doing this export process?
    - If not, what port does Crystal Viewer use to communicate with the Crystal Report Server?
    - Is there something we can set in Crystal to keep an http connection open?
    - What is actually occurring during this export process?
Occasionally, we may get the above error when simply launching a report, not just attempting to export to PDF.  We presume that is because loading the report into the Crystal Viewer from the Crystal Report Server is taking longer than 5 min.
    Anyone have any thoughts?  Thanks.
    Scott

    Scott,
As this is happening within Enteprise (and I am assuming the report does not time out in the Crystal Reports Designer) I would suggest posting this to the BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration
    forum.
My limited Enterprise knowledge would be to suggest scheduling the report as PDF but I don't know if that is a viable option for you.

    Hello,
MS SQL Server 2008 requires you to install the MS Client Tools for 2008.
Once install then update all of your reports to use the SQL Native 10 as the OLE DB driver.
The try again, if it still fails search, lots of sample log on code in this forum.

  • Crystal report 9 Sql Server 2008 R2 compatability

Can we use Crystal report version 9 in Sql server 2008 R2 to generate reports in web server.
Kindly tell us about the compatability of  these two. If there is any support issue between these two kindly mention the same.

Upgrade to CR 2008 SP 4 is your only option.
The Platforms file was on the CR CD or it may be in the Documents folder on install. I don't have it installed any more so I can't say exactly where it is. Search your PC for platforms.
The problem is SQL 2008 uses a new Client engine and MS renamed the DLL do CR isn't aware of it. Using the MDAC version of SQL Server OLE DB Provider may work but it won't be supported if you find errors.
If you do upgrade to CR 2008 then install the MS SQL Server 2008 Client Tools from the CD or download the MSI from Microsoft and then use the MS SQL Server Native 10 client and it should all work for you.
    Thank you

  • Visual Studio 2005 deploy Crystal Report to Windows Server 2008 64-bit

I've read a lot of posts here regarding deploying on a 64-bit server, but I'm still confused.
We use Visual Studio 2005 to develop on a Windows XP machine.  We use the built-in version of Crystal that comes with VS2005.
We want to deploy the runtime to a Windows Server 2008 running 64-bit.  We want to deploy using the msi runtime components and not the merge modules.
We end up with the message "An error has occurred while attempting to load Crystal Reports".
So, the question is, can we build & deploy a 64-bit version, and if so, what are we doing wrong here ?  At first glance, I don't see VS 2005 as listing Windows 2008 as a supported platform, so am I dead in the water right there ?  If that's the case .... then what are my options ?
Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated !
    Thank You,
    Wayne

In a nut shell, the only two 64 bit versions of Crystal Reports are 10.2 (bundles with .NET 2005) and 10.5 (bundles with .NET 2008). All other versions of Crystal Reports are 32 bit only. • Error With Crystal Reports On Windows Server 2012

    Hello,
I have a VB.NET exe application created in Visual Studio 2010 that prints a crystal report directly to the printer.  On Windows Server 2008 it worked fine but it does not work on Windows Server 2012.  The report was originally created in Crystal Reports 2011.  I have read elsewhere that in order to run a Crystal Report on WS 2012 that it needs to be created using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio.  So I installed the developer version of Crystal Reports for Visual Studio (v. 13.0.8.1216).  I opened the report in Visual Studio and saved it.  I then installed the CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_8.msi on the WS 2012.  My vb.net exe has the CrystalDecisions assemblies shown below.  When I try to run the exe I get the error below.  Does anyone have any idea as to what I am doing wrong?  Thank you for your input.
Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'PrintWorkOrderAndDrawing.PrintWorkOrderAndDrawing' threw an exception. ---> System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.En

    Hi Thomas
    First the info re.;
I have read elsewhere that in order to run a Crystal Report on WS 2012 that it needs to be created using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio.
is incorrect. CRVS will run all reports down to CR 9 without issues. And even reports created in older versions will, for the most part, work just fine.
The error is rather strange as it normally indicates that an incorrect runtime has been installed. However in your case as you are using CR 13.0.8.1216 and  the 64bit_13_0_8.msi that does not look to be the case. I would like you to double check the CR references in the project. Say, crystaldecisions.crystalreports.engine. It should be version 13.0.2000.0.
If that is confirmed, then we may be at the permissions mentioned in the error. And I'd use Process Monitor for that. Filter ProcMon for the app exe and run the app. Look at the logs for "Access denied" messages. In the log, look for CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, see what the exe is doing with it. Where is it trying to load it from? Etc., etc.

  • Use of GUID to Access Crystal Report on BW Server

    Hi,
In the iView we have an option to select the "BusinessObjects Enterprise Report Type" = bw_id.
As I understand this allows us to add a Crystal Report to the portal which are held on the BW Server as long as we enter the GUID in "BusinessObjects Enterprise Report ID".
What do we enter for  "Application Parameters" and "Application Parameters"
    Thanks,

    Hi,
that depends on the actual application you entered. the application is also an open entry and you could create your own application and then enter additional parameters if needed

  • Creating OLAP report with Crystal Reports and SQL Server Analysis Services 2005

    Post Author: orahc_mao
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hi!
I am currently using the trial version of the Crystal Reports XI and I wanted to do an OLAP report. The problem is I cannot select a cube using "OLAP Connection Browser" (the popup window). I already selected Microsoft OLE DB Provider and entered the server name but still can't connect.
I don't think the problem is with SQL Server Analysis Services (2005) since Microsoft Excel - Import Data can detect the server as well as the cube I have created.
I also tried the "Database Expert" of Crystal Reports, created an OLE DB (ADO) connection with "OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services 8.0" driver, entered the server name, checked the integrated security and then I can readily select the database created at SQL Server Analysis Services. However, I still need the OLAP grid create the report but it goes back to my original problem... selecting a cube.
I hope somebody would help me with this issue.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello,
I don't recognize those variables as CR ones so it's likely something the original developer is setting in code.
You'll have to discuss with that person.
If your have SDK issues then post your question to one of the .NET or Java SDK forums.
    Thank you

  • How to create a lookup in Crystal Reports or SQL Server

I need to create an Operating Statement report.  The problem is that I need to create a lookup or something to satify a requirement that even if there is no data in the system it will still bring back a description.
    Example:  01 = Income, 02 = Expense, 03 = Labor.. ect(there are 31 of these)
If there is no data for 03 I still need Labor to print.
In my SQL I did a CASE statment that said when
    Account = '3001' THEN 01, Account = '3002' THEN 02, Account = '3003' THEN 03 ECT
Then I created a formula a in Crystal that reads the case Statement to assign descriptions 01 = Income, 02 = Expense, 03 = Labor.
The problem is when there is no data for Account 3003 then the formula does not know to still bring back 03 as Labor.
Can I create a lookup to assign the description, I dont care about the values they can come back as zero.
Is there a formula or can I create a sql statement to pull back a derived table anything but to create a physical table?
    Any help would be great.
Application is Crystal Reports XI 2 SP2
    SQL Server 2005
    Peoplesoft 8.9 Financials.

Thank you Ludek for answering my post.  That was just the information I needed.  I inserted a formula field and then changed the font to Wingdings and that gave me my checkbox.    Not being familiar with Crystal Reports I had a devil of a time just figuring out how to insert a formula field as the field explorer is not easy to find.  The following link will help any developers who might have that problem too.
    http://aspadvice.com/blogs/rjdudley/archive/2005/08/09/2642.aspx
Lastly Iu2019ll add the part of my formula which gives you a checked or unchecked check box in a Windings font:
    --For Check box checked
        Formula = Chr(254)
    --For Check Box unchecked
        Formula = Chr(168)
