Crystal Reports XI via ODBC to Lotus Domino Database - crashes client

As soon as I attempt to connect a CR XI report via ODBC to a particular Lotus Domino database my Crystal client crashes with the below error message in the event viewer. I regularly connect to other Lotus Notes databases but this one crashes my client everytime. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Crystal Report 2011 and ODBC DataSource

    Hi
We use Crystal Report 2011 with Visual Studio 2010. How can we set the Report Data Source, while opening the report? The Data Source is a ODBC Connection to a MS Access Database.
    Thx a lot.

Crystal Report 2011 does not install / have any .NET SDK. You would need CR for VS Sp10, install the EXE on top of VS 2010.
Develop a sample app using CR 13 assemblies. You could use the CR 2011 Designer to design your reports.
Refer to below sample applications, specifically the
    csharp_web_simplelogonengine.zip
    http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Crystal+Reports+for+.NET+SDK+Samples
For an ODBC connection the logon code is almost the same just with a simple change.
Set the ServerName to your DSN and kkep the DBname empty.

  • Send Crystal Report publication via mail dynamically

    Hi!
I want to achieve the following scenario:
I have a Crystal Report within my BOE 3.1 system. Is it possible to trigger an event from an external system which indicates that the report on my server gets executed and will be sent to a specified user via email?
I'm thinking of some kind of solution like OpenDocument - where I access the report via an URL, pass parameters to it, and the executed report will be displayed on the users screen. Now, I don't want to display the report on the user's screen, I want to send it to him via mail.
Has anyone ever tried to implement such a kind of scenario? Does BOE offer web services which might help me to achieve my scenario?
    thank you,
    Dominik

    Hi Dominik,
Yes, that is something that you can do using the SDK.
The idea is that when your user clicks on the button, it will generate a new schedule to run now and with email destination.
There are few examples in the SDK. You can start with this KB:
1203257 - How to schedule a Web Intelligence document with prompts using the Enterprise Java SDK
The main URL with SDK Documentation is:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/bi-sdklibrary
One of the first things you have to know is to choose the right SDK for your project. You will find a quick approach in the following links:
    http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXI3/en/diagrams/bosdks_overview_121_en.pdf

    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/40bccdfd-88a6-2b10-1da1-c47a54b625a7
Because you are thinking to do something related with scheduling you should focus in the Enterprise SDK.

  • How to Uninstall Crystal Reports installed via .msi file

    Post Author: epowers0213
    CA Forum: General
    Hello,
We are installing crystal reports on some clustered servers using the CRRedist2005_x86.msi so that a web application which uses Crystal Reports will run properly.  (Visual Studio is not installed on these servers.)
If there is any problem caused by running the CRRedist2005_x86.msi program, how could we back out the installation/uninstall this version of Crystal Reports?  Our server administration group wants me to provide an "uninstall program" just in case running the .msi file causes problems for any of the other applications on the server.  However, I have not been able to find any information on this on the Business Objects web site (apart from some manual uninstall directions).
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you in advance!

XMI is XML with a specified format.
Looking at the XMI format definition for the XML, it doesn't appear if it will automatically be consumed by Crystal.
Crystal expects relational, rather than hierarchial, data - so you'd need to find a way of exposing the data within XMI as a relational dataset.
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Crystal Report menu-item not visible on SAP menu of client

    SAP 2007A SP:00 PL:38
Crystal Report 2008 (on start menu)
    Crystal Report 2.0.0.6
    1. Installed CR 2008 on server and it runs fine both from Start menu and from within SAP menu. SAP also shows Crystal Reports menu item and Crystal Admin.
    2. Installed Crystal Report on one of the clients and it works fine in same way.
    3. On 2nd client, SAP Crystal Runtime installed as follows: SAPCrystalSetup.exe run first, then DotNetFramework3.5  run - it resulted in "Setup error". Then run the CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.exe without errors. Then installed CR designer, On this client, Crystal Reports 2008 opens fine from Start menu. However from within SAP, it does not show Crystal Reports Admin nor the Crystal Reports menu-item.
    a) This user has "automatic" start of Crystal Reports 2.0.0.6 in Add-on Administration.
    b) However, in Add-on Manager, Crystal Report does not show at all.
    c) In Add-Remove programs, I see that Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 exists on the client.
    d) OS is Microsoft XP.
How could I see Crystal Administration or 'Crystal Reports' menu-item from within SAP on this client?
    Thanks, Ajay Audich

    Hi,
    1) On Add-Remove Programs on the client, I see the following:
    Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime
Crystal Reports Basic 2008 for SAP Business One
    Microsoft.NET Framework 1
    Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
    Microsoft.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
    Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 SP1
SAP Business One Crystal Reports 2.0.0.6
    2) The settings are:
Company Preferences for Crystal Reports for SAP Business One / Version 2.0.0.6/ Default Group Automatic/ Active Yes
User Preferences Tab-User RT-Preference is set to Default.
On server, 'Installed Add-ons' tab shows Crystal Status as 'Connected'
However, on the client, Add-on manager, both "Installed Add-ons" as well as "Pending Add-ons" tabs do not show Crystal Reports row at all.
    3) The user RT on the client is a super-user.
    Thanks.

  • Crystal Reports - Failed to retrieve data from the database

    Hi There,
I'm hoping that somebody can help me.
I've developed a crystal report from a stored procedure which I wrote. I can execute the stored procedure within SQL Server and within the Crystal Reports designer without any errors. Furthermore, I have imported the report into sap and can run it within SAP from the server without any errors. SAP version 8.81 PL5
    The issue is that when it's run from a client machine, I get the following error: "Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details: Database Vendor Code: 156. Error in the File RCR10010 {tempfile location}
Here's a list of things which I have tried, all to no avail:
    - Checked user permissions to ensure that they have proper authorizations
    - Re-set the datasource connection and re-imported the report to SAP.
    - Exported the report and reviewed the datasource connection and re-imported to SAP.
    - Tried to run the report on multiple machines to ensure that it's not machine specific
    - Tried to run the report using different users to ensure it's not user specific.
    - Tested other reports built from stored procedures on client machines to ensure that they work.
Any assistance in this would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Thank you

After further testing, we found that the report could be run within SAP on any work station which had the CR designer installed on it.
As it turns out, the procedure which I wrote has temp tables in it.  The runtimes built into the SAP client install do not support creating temp tables when executing the report from within SAP.  Which is why the report could not retreive data.
To work around this, I installed external runtimes which were the same version of the Crystal Report and now the report can be run within SAP from any workstation which has the external runtimes (and not just the runtimes within the SAP client).
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Can i connect to lotus domino database in my java environment

    Hi javaites,
I want to know if i can connect to domino database from my java environment. i need to pick e-mail address of staffs from lotus notes database. if possible how can i go about it.
    thanks

Yes, you can connect to a database on a Lotus Domino server. The classpath must include Notes.jar (local) or NCSO.jar (remote) - and the DIIOP (Domino IIOP) task on the Domino server must be running.

    Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5
    Redhat Enterprise Linux 5
When running the a report I receive this,
Error in File <report> - <database>: Failed to load database information.
The database I am trying to running the report on is Oracle. Do I need to install some Oracle drivers (client)? Also, shouldn't the Oracle Application Server have drivers?
I have also read a few ports stating the drivers are included with the crystal reports install ... true or false?
    Thanks.

    Still no go ..
Installed the Oracle Client (type: runtime) and set,

  • Connecting to db2 from report builder via odbc

    Hi!
Some manuals said, it is possible to connect to DB2 from Oracle SQL*Plus (we have version 8.0.6.0.0)
    and from Oracle Report Builder.(6.0.8.11.3)
User must install OCA (Oracle Open Client Adapter for ODBC (6.0.5.29.0)) and make ODBC entry.
    I did it.
    run with: plus80 db2user/db2pass@odbc:db2test
SQL*Plus made the connection, but with errors:
    SQL*Plus: Release 8.0.6.0.0 - Production on Fri Oct 17 16:12:56 2003

The error refers PUPBLD.SQL, but I think it is Oracle specific, don't help.
Worse, that it can't connect from Report Builder, it just throws error.
If I set OCA_DEBUG=TRUE in registry, I have bonus messages:
oca-30053 unsupported network call (oracle code: 3115)
oca-30002 ubofssw function not supported (1010)
I tried to connect to MsAcces too, but I got same errors.
Have you any idea, how can I solve this?
    Thanks

    resolved
I just add the master entry in the c:\Report\NET80\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora, and it works.
but I can't connect with the system or sys accounts, it work just with scott/tiger.

  • Accessing Lotus Notes from Crystal Reports in AIX

    Hi BO world
We've installed the BO Enterprise Server  on an AIX 5.3 platform and we want to connect this BO server to a Lotus Domino Server (version 8 on a Windows Server Platform ) to show the data on Crystal Reports. The problem is that we can't find any information about how to make this connection to use the Crystal Report INSIDE the InfoView (of course we can export the RPT file and use it with the Crystal Report Viewer but the idea is run the report inside the InfoView).
In our PC's we have installed the Lotus Notes Client and the corresponding ODBC client (Lotus Notes SQL) and the crystal reports work correctly (accessing to the LNotes Server) BUT, when we start looking for any ODBC for AIX to connect to the Lotus Notes and we can't find any tool to do this.
Could you give any idea o "something" to solve this problem? Let's say
       - Which is the version of ODBC/JDBC driver we have to install in the AIX server to access the L.Notes on the Windows Platform?
       - Should we install the Crystal Report Server in another server (let's say a Windows Server with the corresponding ODBC)
       - Others?
Any help will be great  !
    Kindly Regards, gdmon.

    Hello,
Moved this to the BOE forum.
If AIX and Lotus do not have an ODBC driver then I suspect your only option would be to have a Windows BOE install to process those reports so you can use the Windows ODBC driver.
This is a requirement for Crystal reports to connect. If Lotus doesn't support AIX connectivity then we can't either.
Possibly the BOE forum has some configuration options for you...
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports Server XI Installation

We just purchased Crystal Reports Server XI for Crystal Reports Professional and I want to install it minimally as I think we may have "overbought"; that aside, the big question is where do I go from here to put this on our servers w/o impacting current applications?
    TOPOLOGY:
    - we have a Windows network with Windows 2003 Small Biz Server and a 2nd server with Windows 2003 Standard running Terminal Services.
    - goal is to allow 1 main user to create reports from Quickbooks using Crystal Reports while they are on the Terminal Server
This breaks down into the following questions:
    1) do I need to install the server portion at all? or can I just install Crystal Reports Pro via the CLIENT installation on the terminal server?
    2) if I do have to, I'd rather use MSDE already installed but how should this be set up?
    3) what impact will this make on the SBS web server which we are already using for OWA and Remote Web Workplace?
Any tech docs/manuals that you could link me to would be appreciated as well.
    Thanks,

    Hi Doug,
With regards to your questions, they will be answered in the following ways:
    1) do I need to install the server portion at all? or can I just install Crystal Reports Pro via the CLIENT installation on the terminal server?
This questions is better by your company's requirements.  The Crystal Reports Server (CRS) piece is used by end-users who want to browse reports via the web.  The CRS is just a central repository, analogous to a central storage box, which makes reports available over the web.  Crystal Reports (CR) is simply the client that is used to report off your database.  In this case, your 'database' is Quickbooks.
So in short, you will need to install Crystal Reports Pro for your user to make reports.  And if the user needs to view report over the web, then you will need CRS as well.  The user will create the report and save it to the CRS if he/she wants to view it over the web.
    2) if I do have to, I'd rather use MSDE already installed but how should this be set up?
The question may need further clarification.
However, if you are using MSDE to write reports with (for CR), then you can use an ODBC connection to connect it.  You can consult this external page as a guide:  http://www.truthsolutions.com/sql/odbc/creating_a_new_odbc_dsn.htm.  You will set the connection to your MSDE.
If you are asking about how to configure MSDE to be used as the CMS (Central Management Server) database for the CRS, then you will to consult our "BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration" forum.  As a note, the CMS is just a backend security database that authenticate user(s) that sign into the CRS.
Your post is posted in the "Crystal Reports" forum.
    3) what impact will this make on the SBS web server which we are already using for OWA and Remote Web Workplace?
If you are asking how CR would impact your web server, it should not have any effect.  If you are inquiring about how CRS would affect them, you will also need to consult our "BusinessObjects Enterprise Administration" forum.

  • Reporting in SAP HCM using Crystal Reports

We have decided to use Crystal Reports for SAP HCM Objective Settings and Appraisal component.
What will be the best option to access SAP HCM Tables using Crystal Reports?
    Regards
    Faisal

    Hi,
I have to assume that you've followed the Admin guide and given sufficient Authorizations (as per the detailed list)
Actually, there are quite a few related notes about this, if you search in SDN or via SMP: www.service.sap.com/notes or /x-search . for example:
1334461 - After upgrading SAP R/3 ECC5 to version ECC6, the Integration Kit transport package /Crystal/BC was found in DELETED OBJECTS and Crystal ODBC connection cannot view or browse any tables
1374874 - Cannot see the SAP tables, clusters or functions in Crystal Reports
    here's a suggestion:
    using the Database Options:
When creating a new report, in the Database Expert window, click on SAP Table, Cluster, or Function
Log on to an SAP system
Once connected, right click on the connection created and select Options
In the Options window, in the Data Explorer area, use the Table name LIKE field to select only a subset of data.
Type the full or partial name of the tables you are looking for
Use the percentage sign (%) to denote any number of characters
