Crystal Xcelsius 4.5 Designer

There is a <a href="http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/cr2008_xcelsius/Default.asp" target="_blank">Special Offer</a> "For a limited time buy Crystal Reports 2008 for $495 USD and get Crystal Xcelsius Designer 4.5 for $295 USD (ordinary price $1,500 USD)". Now my question is, What is Crystal Xcelsius Designer? I can't find any product data sheet. I guess that Crystal Xcelsius Designer is the same as Crystal Xcelsius Workgroup Designer but with only One Developer License and One Viewer license? In other words, Crystal Xcelsius Designer is like Crystal Xcelsius Professional but with the Live data source connection? So the next question is, What is One Viewer License? Does that mean that if I show a Powerpoint presentation at a meeting, I can't Send that Powerpoint presentation to anyone, because they are not allowed to view it? Or how does this work? Please see previous comment regarding licensing. Also, Crystal Xcelsius Designer has additional components and functionalities, as well as connectivity to Live Data sources, than Crystal Xcelsius Professional.

I read in the book called "CRYSTAL XCELSIUS for DUMMIES" on page 243 under topic called Nesting a Dashboard within another Dashboard.
sorry i used the wrong word embed, here i am importing the swf using image component.
My requirement is somethis like this parent child dependency menu.
eg: i have to two tabs 1)alphabets 2) Numerics First levet menu
if you click alphabets tab then the following menu A/B/C/D/..... Z i have diff charts.. under each alphabet.
If you click numberic tab then the follwing menu should one/two/three/.......ten here also i have diff charts under number
in over to avoid complexity in dynamic visibility i divided the into 3 dashboards. 1- alphabets 2- number and 3 -importing both swfs.. everything works fine except first tab and last tab under alphabets and numerics.
If some one help me with some alernative ... would be great.

Making Your Own Map Component in crystal xcelsius
Although the Map components in Crystal Xcelsius are cool, your choice ofmaps is severely limited. This might leave you wondering how you can createyour own Map components in Crystal Xcelsius. Although there is no way totechnically make a Map component, you do have a workaround that you canuse to create interactivity based on your own maps.As an example, I created the dashboard in Figure 13-25 to report on popula-tion data for the five counties in Rhode Island. In this dashboard, movingyour mouse from county to county changes the data that displays.
Take a closer look at this dashboard to see that the map is nothing more thanan Image component that has a few Icon Selector components on top. Hereu2019show it works:1. Import an image of the map by adding an Image component onto yourdashboard and selecting the image using the Filename property, asshown in Figure 13-26.
2. Add Icon Selectors on each point in the map where you want interactivity.These icon selectors provide the hot spot areas on your map (seeFigure 13-27): that is, the areas that give you interactivity at run-time.
3. Expand the selectors to ensure that you optimize the hot spots on yourmap. (See Figure 13-28.)You can expand the Icon selectors by clicking on the bounding box han-dles and dragging them until the selector is the appropriate size andshape. Expanding the size of the selectors reduces the chance of hittingdead spots that donu2019t have interactivity at run-time.
At this point, the icon selectors can be given some functionality basedon some scenario, but thatu2019s not your focus here. The point is that afteryou configure the icon selectors with some functionality, you haveessentially added interactivity to your map.Time for smoke and mirrors.4. Make the icon selectors invisible so that only the map is showing bygoing to the Appearance tab and adjusting the Transparency propertyto 0, as shown in Figure 13-29.The final effect is a custom map that has interactivity.
Keep in mind that you can use this technique with any image; it doesnu2019t have tobe a map per se. For instance, you can use this technique with organizationalcharts, floor plans, park maps, and various types of diagrams. Incorporatingpictures into your dashboards in this way can help you add something extrato your dashboards.

Hiit is rather disappointing that one can not import maps into crystal xcelsius as this is my main operation, the alternative approach that you so in great detail, whilst it works is not sutable for the tasks I carryout. I have access to all the maps for our operations and some are quite detailed, however I cannot use them? becuase your programme cannot import them. Is there a tool or method that you guys use to get the maps in to crystal xcelsius that you would be willing to share, as I would hate to have to find an alternative product to do that job Thnx Sam

Crystal Xcelsius is unable to load this file... no upgrade 4.5 to 2008 :(

Anyone else having problems getting 4.5 files to open in 2008? I create a nice simple new xlf with a simple xls behind it and a just a grid component in 4.5, then try open the file in 2008 and i get... Crystal Xcelsius is unable to load this file. This file may be corrupt or have features that cannot be supported by this version of Crystal Xcelsius.im on the following versions...Version 4.5Application Version 4.2.4.3File Version 1.1.0.2Version 2008Application Version 5.0.0.99Build Number 12,0,0,121 I'm hoping that this is just a version issue with what was on ESD... the help file seem to suggest upgrade is simple so would but good to here of folks having sucess - and if so what versions your on thanks!jez.

well i hope thats the case... but its a bit strange that neither the beta versions i tested or this ESD version (its not very clear as to if its pre-release - nothing on the splashscreen/about to indicate its not the full thing) can open 4.5 files... suggests that the beta did not cover backward compatability which is a bit concerning :(hopefully im just missing something simple!from the help file in the '08 version i have here...Xcelsius supports the ability to import a visualization created
with Xcelsius 4.5. This import ability lets Xcelsius 4.5 customers upgrade their
existing visualizations to take advantage of the new features of Xcelsius 2008.
Backup your current XLF, JPEG, and external SWF files before upgrading your
visualization.
Note: Xcelsius 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 files cannot be
imported into Xcelsius 2008. To use these files in Xcelsius 2008 you must first
import them into Xcelsius 4.5, then import the files into Xcelsius 2008.

Function modules are one element. There are no types. However sometimes an RFC enabled function module is referred to as RFC Function module, but really it is just a function module. Also BAPIs are function modules, but are usually referred to as just BAPI as opposed to BAPI Function module.
There is no different function module types , but calling the function module will be different.
check this function calls syntax
1. Calls a function module:
- CALL FUNCTION func.
2. Call a function module in a different mode (asynchronous Remote Function Call):
- CALL FUNCTION func STARTING NEW TASK taskname.
3. Call a function module in the update task:
- CALL FUNCTION func IN UPDATE TASK.

My Crystal Xcelsius Serial Number needs to be reactivated. Can someone help me with this? I need to get this taken care of quickly. Why isn't there a 1-800 number that I can call?

For serial numbers I would start with sales. They'll be able to figure out if there is a problem with your serial number.

How to add Web service of SAP BI in Crystal Xcelsius

Hi,
When creating a dash board in Crystal Xcelsisus version 4.5 using QWAAS then am able to get the data into the dash board.
In the same way I am trying to put the WSDL provided by SAP BI. But then I am not able to get the data. There I am able to give the login and password, Infoprovider and Query name also. But I am not able to get the data.
Can anyone please help on this.

Xcelsius is expecting a row / column structure which the current webservice is not delivering right now but it is alrady on the roadmap.

Thanks DHAGIts a shame that we have hundreds of our own maps that we cannot use in Xcelsius and we are reluctant to buy any more, especially when they are none proprietory types, we need to use maps such as ESRI, MAPINFO or DWG types. Business Objects already know this of course as their Crystal Reports communicates with ESRI Arcview/ArcGis mapping products.Please update this product to use these, or make piece of software that will allow us to make our own map components and import them into XcelsiusAPART from my little blast! that said its a great productSam

Hi Ola,
I appears as if you are trying to display data with two parameters. The column chart only displays one parameter and there is currently no way to dynamically set a column's width in a column chart.
I would suggest looking at a multi-parameter chart such as the XY or Bubble chart.

Crystal Report published in BO-Enterprise with embedded Xcelsius present.

I'm new to BO and I'm working on a demo for our clients.
I have connected my crystal reports to receive data from SAP R/3, which works very well.
I have also embedded a Crystal Xcelsius SWF file into my Crystal Reports report which receives data from it.
THE PROBLEM: when i want to publish the report to BO Enterprise it only works WITHOUT the SWF file embedded into the *.rpt report.
when i want to view the report in InfoView I'm getting the prompt to log on to the SAP system. after entering i get the error message:
An Error has occured: Exception in JSP: /sapviewDHTMLReport.jsp:223 220: viewer.refresh(); 221: } 222: viewer 223: .processHttpRequest(request, response, context, 224: jspWriter); 225: response.flushBuffer(); 226: viewer.dispose(); Stacktrace:
entering the logon credentials in the database-properties of the file doesn't solve the problem.
when I delete the SWF file from the report and publish it in BO Enterprise everything works fine. I'm able to log on to SAP and InfoView shows me the report.
has anyone a suggestion? thanks!

Hello Kevin,
try to change your Settings in the InfoView-Setting-Menu.
There is a subitem "Crystal Reports" where you can set a standard view format.
I am always using ActiveX, but I still have the problem that the embedded XCelsius-Part is not displayed. But at least the rest of the report is displayed correctly.
