CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm  (in MSI format???)

Does this file exist in MSI format?
My installer (INNO) doesn't support MSM but can run an MSI via MSIEXEC.EXE.
There doesn't appear to be an MSMEXEC :-(.
I'd prefer not to have get into dark/WiX and the standard MSM2MSI converter barfs at this file. There are a number of issues with this MSM listed on the web.
Many thanks,
Ed

Yes, that is the most recent MSI file.

  • Merge Modul CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm requires admin rights

    Dear all,
I created a VB2005 windows forms application  using Crystal Reports XI R2 viewer and managed somehow to  include CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm in a clickonce deployment package. What really bothers me is that local admin rights are required for the CR runtime files during initial installation of the programm (updates work fine as normal user).
Is there a way to avoid this?
Can I install CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi prior to the application with (different) admin credentials during user logon and removed the merge module from the clickonce package?
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Regards

With  the parameter " /qb pidkey=your product key" Glenn delivered the key to a solution. Using the SysInternals-tool psExec I was able to install the CR runtime an my target machines remotly and the users could install my software with normal users rights without problems:
I used the scripts RemoteInstall.cmd which has one single line
       C:\Programme\PsTools\psexec
    target_machine -u Domain\pcAdmin -c
    server\pathORshare\InstallCR2005-Runtime.cmd
and InstallCR2005-Runtime.cmd which contains these commands
      c:
      cd %Temp%
      copy
    server\pathORshare\CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msi
      crystalreports11_5_net_2005.msi /qb pidkey=my product key
      del crystalreports11_5_net_2005.msi
BTW: psExec supports a parameter @file with a list of target machines
Your anwsers have really been a great help.

    Hi Barbara,
Flash Professional CS5.5 is a 32-bit application which can be installed on computers with either 32-bit or 64-bit operating systems.
You can purchase this by Adobe's backward Licensing policy :
" Adobe allows program members to order a current-version license but use a prior version. These members can contact Adobe Customer Service to request a serial number for the earlier version if they do not already have one. Prior-version software is available via ESD and can be purchased through standard resellers. The program member must follow all guidelines of the current-version EULA. "

  • Deploying Crystal Report 11.5 without using .msm or .msi

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy the Crystal 11.5 runtimes .dlls for my project.  I want to deploy the assemblies without using the merge modules or running the .msi project (the .msi and .msm files contains a lot of assemblies that my project does not require).  However, when I try to install only the .dlls that my project references, I get the following in my project when loading a report:
An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.  Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient, or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.
If someone knows how to deploy the Crystal Reports assemblies with using the merge modules or .msi,  please let me know.

    Morning Keit,
I have deployed an application about 2mins ago and I had the same problem before I added the merge files. I have found an article [http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3129696&SiteID=1&mode=1] in a thread here. This link shows how to install the Runtime CR2008 on client machine to make things work.
I personaly thinks deploying applications using not only CR but other products as well is a nightmare, myself I prefer using web based applications as they do not need much requirements on client pc (that is if everything is pushed from the server).
The way I deployed my application is getting the appropriate dll files and added them into the application setup and also added a prerequiste of CR 2008 with Data access components 2008 (you can find this when you right click on the application setup --->properties -
    >prerequsite button.
Once I clicked CR2008 pre, it added a Runtime file into my application setup folder, I ran the application at client pcs and it is working fine.

  • Redistribution issue with VS2008 Crystal and Crystal MSI

I have a VS2008 setup where I mark Crystal as being required.
I have a couple of desktop exe's as well as a websetup.
Here is my issue. Whenever I install/re-install on a test machine, it always prompts for crystal setup, I have run the crystal setup separately, so the files are installed.
So If I run the desktop setup, it tries to install CR runtime, then if I run the websetup or another different desktop setup, it still prompts for the cr runtime..
    In my program I reference
    C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\2.8\managed\CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll
Description: Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 2.0
    version: 10.5.3700.0
the installer for the cr_redist_x86.msi installes
    CRVsPackage.dll
    version 10.5.1.2285
I was told that these two were compatible.
So It's looking like i either have to downgrade the run time or upgrade my VS2008 basic Crystal reports.
Can someone shed some light on how I do this?

See if [this|Re: Merge Modul CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm requires admin rights] thread helps. The CR version discussed is 11.5, but I think the solution should apply to your version of CR also.

  • Issues with Shockwave 11.5.2.602 / 11.5.6.606 MSI installer

<UPDATE 8/3/09> Nearly all of the issues mentioned below are still present in the MSI installer for 11.5.6.606 - the only one that Adobe have fixed is the one where the MozillaPlugins 'Version' value is left blank by the MSI by default - this is now created correctly, but all of the other issues remain.
Personally I have given up trying to use this MSI package to deploy Shockwave until Adobe get their act together - instead I am using a wrapper to wrap the Shockwave executable inside an MSI file and deploying it that way, although this is not ideal.
I have created an MST file which will fix the MSI installer for version 11.5.6.606, which I will post to another forum shortly, but I am not planning to keep it updated for future versions as I don't really have the time.
    Hi,
I've tried submitting the following via the Adobe Customer Support portal and via the Feature Request/Bug Report form, but the first told me that I needed to 'get in touch with Adobe Enterprise Solutions team for getting help' and that 'to get in touch with them you have to purchase a contract', and the second resulted in a bounced email address saying that '[email protected]' 'does not exist at the organization this message was sent to'.
In short, attempting to contact Adobe to report issues with their installers sucks, and I am posting this here in the vain hope that someone at Adobe might read this message and possibly forward it to the relevant people. Some of the issues have already been reported here on this forum, but some of them are new, and I guess others might be interested in them too.
    Hi,
I would like to report some issues with most recent version of the Shockwave installer, available in MSI format from the following location:
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?k=4E6102EB-DA7C-2795-C744826EFDE2A098&l oc=en_us
This is the installer for version 11.5.2.602, with a digital signature dated 06 November 2009 10:52:21
When downloading this version of the installer in Windows Installer (MSI) format, the following issues manifest themselves, most of which are not a problem when using the Full EXE installer available from the same page.
First of all, when installing the MSI file using Group Policy Software Deployment, if you log on to the computer after the MSI file has been deployed and view a web page that contains Shockwave content, you receive the following errors in the Windows event log:
    Event Type: Warning

If you are logged on as an Administrator, then the computer will immediately attempt to 'repair' the Adobe Shockwave Player installation in order to create the missing folder 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Application Data\Adobe\', which leads to a significant delay in the initialization of the Shockwave content on the web page. If you are logged on as a non-Administrator, the errors will still appear, but the 'repair' operation will fail due to insufficient permissions to create the above folder.
I have done some testing and it seems as if this problem can be easily resolved by removing the code from the installer which tells it to create an empty folder in the 'Application Data' folder called 'Adobe\Shockwave Player 11'. This code seems to be entirely unnecessary, as no files are created inside this folder as part of the installation, and I have removed it successfully from my own copy of the MSI without it causing any issues. I have found some other people who are also experiencing this problem in the following forum post:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2379350 (post number 8)
and since this 'repair' operation causes all customised registry settings to be reset back to defaults as part of the repair, it would be very helpful if this 'feature' could be removed from future versions.
Secondly, there are a number of registry keys which are created incorrectly by the MSI installer when the above 'repair' operation takes place, which need to be corrected to prevent further issues from occurring:
Under '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1F3CB77D-D339-49e0-B8E4-FECD6D6F8CB8}\LocalServer32]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\SHOCKW~1\SWHELP~1.EXE"
(Please note that there is a double quotation mark at the end of the value, but not at the beginning)
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\SwHelper_1152602.exe"
According to a forum post (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2379350, post 15), this causes DCOM errors when Shockwave is launched, if the MSI 'repair' has taken place as described above.
The above registry value should be set to the following in the installer's Registry table:
    "[INSTALLDIR]Shockwave 11\SwHelper_1152602.exe"
so that the MSI installer works the same as the executable one.
Under '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{6EF568F4-D437-4466-AA63-A3645136D93E}\1.0\0\win32]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    Adobe\SHOCKW~1\SWHELP~1.EXE
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\SwHelper_1152602.exe
Also, under '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{6EF568F4-D437-4466-AA63-A3645136D93E}\1.0\HELPDIR]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    Adobe\SHOCKW~1\
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Adobe\Shockwave 11\
Once again, the above registry values should be set to the following in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue:
    [SystemFolder]Adobe\Shockwave 11\SwHelper_1152602.exe
    [SystemFolder]Adobe\Shockwave 11\
Under '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{166B1BCA-3F9C-11CF-8075-444553540000}]', the 'default' value is NOT SET by the MSI by default:
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    Shockwave ActiveX Control
This value should be set in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue.
Under '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\location\common]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    Macromed\common\
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\common\
Also, under '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\location\coreplayer]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    Macromed\Shockwave 10\
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10\
Also, under '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\Shockwave 10\location\coreplayerxtras]', the 'default' value is set to the following by the MSI:
    Macromed\Shockwave 10\xtras\
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Shockwave 10\xtras\
The above registry values should be set to the following in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue:
    [SystemFolder]Macromed\common\
    [SystemFolder]Macromed\Shockwave 10\
    [SystemFolder]Macromed\Shockwave 10\xtras\
The MSI installer does not create '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dcr]', '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dir]', or '[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.dxr]'
Wherease the executable installer creates all three of these keys and populates them all with the following 'default' value:
    "Content Type"="application/x-director"
These keys and values should be set in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue.
The MSI installer creates a value under the following registry key:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OptionalComponets\SwDi r]
However this registry key is obviously misspelt (missing an 'n' in 'OptionalComponets') and should read as follows:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OptionalComponents\SwD ir]
This key name needs to be changed in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue (also pointed out in the following forum post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2379350 (post number 10)).
Under [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/ShockwavePlayer], the 'Version' value is left blank by the MSI by default:
Whereas the executable installer creates the value as follows:
    1152602
This registry value should be set to the correct version in the installer's Registry table to fix the issue.
Finally, the MSI installer creates a number of registry values under the following path:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/ShockwavePlayer\Mime Types]
These values are *in addition* to the values created under the following path:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MozillaPlugins\@adobe.com/ShockwavePlayer\MimeTypes]
(Note there is no space between 'Mime' and 'Types' in the second key path)
The executable installer *only* creates registry keys under the 'MimeTypes' key, and it seems as if this is the correct formatting for the key (also pointed out in the following forum post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2379350 (post number 11)).
The unnecessary 'Mime Types' registry keys and values should be removed from the installer's Registry table to avoid any potential issues.
I am sorry that this is such a long list, but it seems as if a number of things have been changed in the transition from 11.5.1.601 to 11.5.2.602, and it would be very helpful if these changes could be put back to how they were before, so that the MSI and the executable installers function in the same way as much as possible.
Message was edited by Borgquite - added 11.5.6.606 update

Have posted an updated version of the MST to my webspace here:
    http://homepage.ntlworld.com/minkus/shockwave/shockwave115606mst2.zip
This new version fixes the following issues (changes to this version in bold):
MsiInstaller repair & errors on first run as non-admin (removes 'AppData' directory entries)
DCOM errors once Shockwave is installed (adds double quotes to the beginnning of LocalServer32 value)
Incorrect TypeLib paths in the registry (fixed to use built-in [SystemFolder] property)
Default CLSID description value missing (set to 'Shockwave ActiveX Control', as per the executable installer)
Incorrect Shockwave 10 paths in the registry (fixed to use built-in [SystemFolder] property)
Misspelt 'OptionalComponets' registry key (renamed to 'OptionalComponents')
Missing .dcr, .dir, .dxr Content Type registry values (included in the executable installer)
Fixed incorrect AppID registry key (set to use installer's [VERSION] variable)
Removed 'Launch SWDNLD.exe' shortcut created in Programs subfolder (people don't want this - see here)
I have tested this on my network and it all seems to work fine. Unfortunately my original plan to use the executable installer didn't work out as it does not include the Shockwave 10 compatibility components described here and here, so it looks like I'll have to keep this MST file up to date with the latest versions until Adobe fix the problems themselves...
If you want to see the changes that I have made, load up Adobe's 11.5.6.606 MSI file in Orca, then use Transform / Apply Transform to apply the MST, and look for the entries in green.
Please post any feedback to this thread, and I will try to respond if I can help!

  • Deploy Crystal Report via ClickOnce without .msi

    Hi,
I would like to know whether it's possible to deploy Crystal Report without requiring admin rights from the installer.
My program uses many 3rd party components. Most of them very heavyweight with licensing, COM objects etc but Crystal Report is the only one that needs a .msi install. Is it possible to include Crystal Report's dll with the application? I tried it but Crystal Report failed to load at the form saying there's something wrong with the installation (I didn't "install").

Only way to distribute the CR runtime is via the MSM or MSI files. For links to the msm and msi files see [this|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=56787567] wiki.

  • Crystal Reports XI Runtime .msm Files

We have a mixed environment (VB6, .NET 2003, .NET 2005) on each of our workstations.  We require a Crystal Reports 11 runtime that will cover all of these platforms.  There are six.msm files available to build the runtime.  One is for .NET 2003, another for .NET 2005, and the remaining four are for the Report Designer Component (RDC), which will cover VB6's ActiveX:
    CrystalReports11_5_NET.msm  (for .NET 2003)
    CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Designtime.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_License.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Reportengine.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Runtime.msm
When we try to build a Setup project with all of these msm's included, we get the "Unable to merge data from the merge module because it conflicts with existing data in the package".  Apparently the modules are duplicated in the msm's.  With further examination, it appears that the RDC msm's include most of the runtime files in the other msm's, but not all.
So we're trying to determine how to be able to include all the required modules in the runtime.
Maybe we need to build a separate runtime package for each of the three platforms and then run all of them to get everything that we need?

Building  separate runtime packages will be the way to go. BTW, you do not need to include the CrystalReports11_5_RDC_Designtime.msm, unless your RDC app uses the report creation APIs and craxDDrt.dll.

  • Uninstall_flash_player.exe as an MSI ?

    Hi,
First post over here but i admit i used this forum a few times already ... with success every time ;-)
I'm sorry in advance if the question was already asked but if so, i was not able to find it.
Well, i'm REALLY looking for an msi version of uninstall_flash_player.exe that you can download over here :
    http://download.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/support/uninstall_flash_player.exe
Deploying succefully Flash player via GPO.
I do not have immediat problem with previous version nor update but when i was testing few thing, i found out that if i had version -for example- 11.4.402.265 and tried to deploy 11.4.402.287 with a brand new GPO (so without the previous "replace") the last version just did not install.
i had to first manually run the uninstaller to make the upgrade "doable".
my problem is : uninstaller is an .exe
-i do not really wish to run a batch to make it work.
-not running anything else than GPO (no PDQ / LUP / ... )
-got a mix of OS (XP / win7 x32 / Win7 x64) so using a that register the .exe action to make a .msi is not an really interesting solution (should make at least 3 of them ...but if i have to ... )
i tried to extract the uninstaller hoping for an MSI or an AIP ... without sucess (both 7zip and acrobat reader like)
so is there a way to get this uninstaller as an MSI ?
    ty in advance !

checked the link and the link within the link didn't find anything related to an uninstaller in msi format either :-/
and yes Pat, i did not find anything about it either this is why i made this post, sadly it look like i didn't find it because it doesn't exist btw ...

  • Which msm is which?

Can someone tell me the difference between the follow two merge modules:
    CrystalReports11_5_Net.msm
    CrystalReports11_5_Net_2005.msm
Also, when would I need to use the CrystalReports11_5_maps.msm?
I am trying to create a RAS XIr2 SP4 deployment install.
    Thanks,
    BOb

    To work with RAS:
To develop a BOE/CRServer XI R2 .NET application you need the Enterprise .NET SDK. You have to get this from the Enterprise installer.  Launch the BOE/CR Server XI R2 installer and choose Server Install - not Client Install.  Choose a Custom install.  You'll be presented with a drop down list for the Enterprise components.  Deselect everything and then look for the Developer Components option.  You may have to drill down into one of the levels to find it.  Under Developer Components you'll see the BusinessObjects Enterprise .NET SDK.  Select it to install to the development machine.  This will allow you to work with the Enterprise .NET SDK on your VS2005 machine.
You can install the .NET SDK using the Client Tools option, however it installs much more than you'll need (e.g. the publishing wizard, etc.).  The Client Tools option can also miss a couple of key DLLs and assemblies.  The best path to follow is the custom server install path outlined above.
When you're ready to deploy your .NET application you will also need to install the .NET SDK onto the Web application server as well. This is because we are not fully managed by the .NET Framework.
To answer your question re msm files. The msm files are for Crystal Reports runtime distribution, not RAS. However CrystalReports11_5_Net.msm is for CR XI r2 used in .NET 2003. CrystalReports11_5_Net_2005.msm is for CR XI r2 used in .NET 2005
CrystalReports11_5_maps.msm would only be used if you are using the map feature in the CR designer

    msi format for the last
tool I used was EMCO MSI
    Package Builder Enterprise.
When I test the msi packages
created, trying to install on a
Windows 7 x86, the error message
appears or lack of permission stating that
another installation is already happening and
this has to be closed first.
I'm tired of redoing the packages and test,
always appear the same mistakes, what can I
    do to solve this?
    Thank you!

  • Deploying 'Crystal Reports' on a 64 bit machine

    Hi,
I am trying to deploy my application on a 64 bit machine.
I am using Crystal Reports XI release 2.
When I tried to deploy it ona 32 bit machine i simply added the
CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm file to my detup project and it worked.
However, when I tried to do the same thing on the 64 bit (with a 64 bit setup project)
I recieved a runtime error message:
"An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.
Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime
    is not installed correctly."
    after that it was said:
"Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi)
containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64 or Itanium) required..."
I installed 'CRRedist2005_X64.msi' on the 64 bit machine and tried to run my setup with and without
the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm file, and it didn't work.
    What should I do next?
    Thanks,
    Arik

    Hi Arik,
You need to use the CrystalReports11_5_NET_2005.msm file for the application deployment. The 'CRRedist2005_X64.msi' is meant for the bundled version of Crystal for Visual Studio 2005.

In addition, you would need to enable the 32 bit mode of the ASP.NET 2.0 on the deployment server. This is because it is necessary to run the application under 32 bit mode. Please refer this MS Kbase article for more info - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/894435
