CrystalReportViewer throws NullReferenceException on parameter set

Hi experts,
I really hope somebody can help. I am running out of ideas.
I inherited a web site project with some CrystalReports in it and I should install it on two new customer servers.
When trying to run the report I got the NullReferenceException below:
"NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
   CrystalDecisions.Web.CrystalReportViewerBase.set_ReuseParameterValuesOnRefresh(Boolean value) +31
   ASP.Page_aspx.__BuildControlCrystalReport()
   ASP.Page_aspx.__BuildControlshow_filter()
At the line:
<CR:CrystalReportViewer ID="CrystalReportVPI" runat="server" AutoDataBind="True" EnableDatabaseLogonPrompt="False" EnableParameterPrompt="False" ReuseParameterValuesOnRefresh="True" ... />
I tried to set the parameters programmatically:
protected void Page_PreInit(object sender, EventArgs e)
        CrystalReportVPI.AutoDataBind = true;
        CrystalReportVPI.EnableDatabaseLogonPrompt = false;
        CrystalReportVPI.EnableParameterPrompt = false;
        CrystalReportVPI.ReuseParameterValuesOnRefresh = true;
         u2026
Here i noticed that tha the NullReferenceException is thrown only in the line:
CrystalReportVPI.ReuseParameterValuesOnRefresh = true;
The same site runs on developer environment and on another customeru2019s server with no errors.
The server environment is:
u2022     Win Server 2003
u2022     CRRedist2005_x86.msi
u2022     .NET version 2.
I think there is an installation issue.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi,
I retried by removing all CR 2008 attributes.
This time the NullReferenceException was thrown there:

This bug figures out also when creating a custom spark ComboBox, then trying to programatically update the userProposedSelectedIndex property. The proposed selected index is selected, but does not apply the same skin as when mouse is on rollover or item is selected due to up and down keys.
The issue seems like updating the status of the item renderer to rollover or selected to get the same skin applied.

  • Do you have the recommend Parameter Sets Controlling IPC Resources on Solaris 8 (64-bits)

Do you have the recommend value of "Parameter Sets Controlling IPC Resources"
    for Tuxedo8(32-bits) on Sun Solaris8.0 (64-bits) ?

    Hi Asgorath,
Unfortunately I do not have an answer for you but I
am experiencing the identical problem on a HP
Proliant BL25p Blade Server. Here is my hardware
    config:
CPU - Dual Opteron 2.6 Single Core
    Memory - 16gb
Controller - HP Smart Array 6i
    Logical drives - 1 (2x72gb RAID1+0)
I have tried the same things as you and I still get
intermittant boots. Power on and off does not always
work as the system still hangs. It's totally hit or
miss. Once it soes boot it seems to work fine. I have
also installed the latest Solaris 10 for x86 Patch
Cluster in hopes that some of the kernal patches
would fix the problem. So far no luck as the system
continues to hang...HARD!! HP was out to my site
today and the Eng. is going back to the group that
qualified Solaris10 on the HP Blades and see if they
have any input. If I receive anything back I will
post it here. I know this post is late and if you
have resolved please post your fix.Hi doc42755,
I have not come up with a solution as of yet, if I do come up with a solution i will most certainly post it here.
However, if you find the solution could you let us know in this thread aswell.

  • MI - Configuration Parameter Sets

When trying to access the "Configuration Parameter Sets" option under the Mobile Administrator page I am getting an error:
Connection is already closed and no longer associated with a managed connection
When I try to create a new parameter set I get a java.lang.NullPointerException  exception. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Mahwish

    Hi,
If you click on any link under the mobile Administrator you will get similar error like "Connection is already closed and no longer associated with a managed connection"
For this above issue please check the following points.
    1. Visual Admin>Services>Connection Container.. here Check the number of connections values??
    2. Check all the authorization are assigned to access the RFCs to user which is mentioned in SAPJRAFactory_EN.
If we resolve the above problem you would not get any null pointerException during creation of the parameter sets.

  • SAP language parameter setting

    Dears:
The parameter zcsa/installed_languages which is in RZ10, control the sap language parameter setting, but i am not very understand how to set the value, i find some set the value to 123EM, i don't know that the 123 meaning here. And some just set it to DE2, D is for Germany, and E is for English, so what is 2 for? Do you know the standard value setting for this parameter?

The language environment that comes with the standard SAP installation includes German and English. To use SAP with other languages, you must perform a language import or supplement (use transaction SMLT). Changes in the language environment usually require changes in the codepage setup, which requires changes in some database tables and in the profile files.
Most language administration can be done with transactions SMLT and SP12, and reports RSCP0001, RSCP0004, RSCP0017, and RSCP0020.
The codepage environment is summarized in the report RSCP0001. Running the report will generate a screen with codepage parameters drawn from different places. A proper codepage setup usually requires that all codepage parameters are the same. This table show the output of the RSCP0001 report, and where its data is drawn from:  Report output Source
    1.  Table TCPDB
Code page for transparent data in the database  Entry in TCPDB table
Code page for non-transparent data in the
database (for example, pools and clusters)  Entry in TCP0C table (can change from online report above)
    2.  System profile parameters
Code page for transparent data in the database  install/codepage/db/transp = 8300
Code page for non-transparent data in the
database (for example, pools and clusters)  install/codepage/db/non_transp = 8300
Code pages used by this application server  install/codepage/appl_server = 8300
Code pages used by SAPTEMU  saptemu/Codepage = 8300
For example, changes in the instance profile, for Traditional Chinese, might look like:
Change Installed languages to include M (Traditional Chinese)
    zcsa/installed_languages = DEM
Change to desired language for logon screen
    zcsa/system_language = E
Add the following parameters for Chinese Character Set
    install/codepage/appl_server = 8300
    install/codepage/db/transp = 8300
    install/codepage/db/non_transp = 8300
    saptemu/Codepage = 8300
    abap/locale_ctype = Chinese(Taiwan)_Taiwan.950
    install/collate/active = 0
    abap/locale_all/needed = 0
    rscp/TCP0B = TCP0D
    abap/set_text_env_at_new_mode =1
    abap/import_char_conversion = 0

  • WFA 3.1RC1 throws "Object reference not set to an instance of an object", worked in 3.0P1

I am running a custom workflow to create volumes that has worked since WFA 2.x, and which works well in 3.0P1. With WFA 3.1RC1 it throws this error when attempting to apply a quota to the volume:   INFO  [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] Started Quota resize on volume post_wfa31rc1_test2_w_mirror on vserver MySVM   ERROR [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] Command failed for Workflow 'Create Volume (Schwab)' with error : Object reference not set to an instance of an object.  INFO  [Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree] ***** Workflow Execution Failed ***** I have executed the PS commands from this code block in a PS shell with no errors. Has anyone else seen a similar issue with 3.1RC1?     Scott Lindley

I have narrowed the problem down to a single command and can reproduce the problem very easily. However, I can't seem to fix it. But I believe importing this single custom command into both a WFA 3.0P1 and WFA 3.1RC1 system will easily show that it works in 3.0P1 and throws the odd 'Object reference not set to an insance of an object' error. I say that is an odd error because I'm only used to seeing that error at Preview time referring to an object reference in a Command Parameter field of a workflow. I know how to deal with that issue. However here, the error appears at the end a PowerShell command. Actually, the PowerShell command appears to me to execute entirely and correctly. It is just that at the end of running this exception error is thrown and that causes the command (and workflow if running within a workflow) to fail. But the comamnd correctly adds the 'default' quota policy to the volume and even enables quota resize as it should. So it works, but still blows up the workflow it is within. I'm going to attempt to attach these three things here:    1) screenshot showing the command running (with Command Test Button) fine under WFA-3.0P1,    2) a screenshot showing the command running but throwing the error on a WFA-3.1RC1 system    3) the ,dar file holding just the command: "Apply Quota Policy to Volume or Qtree" (I added .txt to the end of .dar file name) ------1) running OKay on 3.0P1  -------------------------- 2) running with the ERROR on WFA 3.1RC1  SOME NOTES: My lab environment where I re-created the problem:    The WFA 3.0P1 system is a Windows 2008R2 server that happens to have the original PowerShell 2.0 on it    The WFA 3.1RC1 system is a Windows 7 system that I have updated PowerShell to 4.0. The customer environment:    I'm less certain of details (maybe Scott can fill in)    The version of PowerShell is TBD (guessing 2.0) , but they are running the same PS version for both 3.0P1 and 3.1RC1 because they are upgrading/downgrading WFA on the same system

  • SSRS Cascading Parameter Setting Default Value of Parameter by Expression

    Hi All,
I need some help on an issue I am running into in SQL server 2008 report parameters. I have the following Report Parameters defined:
    1) @PredefinedDateSelection - Boolean (User Selectable True/False, Default Value - 'False')
    2) @StartDate - Text (User input text box)
If @PredefinedDateSelection = TRUE, then I would like to provide a particular default value to the StartDate textbox (i.e. @StartDate Default Value), If @PredefinedDateSelection = FALSE, then I would like to provide a different default value.
I have the following code for the Expression for the Default value of @StartDate: =code.GetStartDate(Parameters!PreDefinedTimeSelection.Value)
where GetStartDate is a very simple VB function defined as :
Public Function GetStartDate(x as boolean ) As String
    Dim a as string
    Dim b as string
a = "Report Uses Predefined Values"
    b = "Please Input Value"
    If (x) then
    Return a
    else
    Return b
    end if
    end function.
Now the default value of @StartDate stays set as "Please Input Value", and does not change when I toggle @PredefinedDateSelection from False to True and vice versa. I was expecting to see the Default value to change between the two messages depending on my selection in the report preview.
Another parameter which is a dropdown and uses a dataset to display two different set of selectable items depending on the value of @PredefinedDateSelection is working just fine. I am not sure if I am missing something or I am doing something wrong.
Instead of using the VB code I also tried : =iif(Parameters!PreDefinedTimeSelection.Value = True,"Report Uses Predefined Values","Please Input Value")
I also tried changing the default value using a dataset with SQL query and the available value set to NONE, so that the user could input. But the Default value does not refresh or change values.
I hope I have explained my question clearly. I would really appreciate any thoughts and comments.
    Thanks,
    Arunesh

Thank you much for your response.
I tried that and it did work. But my requirement is to have a user input the date. The basic idea is if the user decides on a predefined time range like Day Shift Today or Yesterday and so on... then the report would automatically calculate the values based on predefined date time values. On the other hand, if the intent is to run the report for an arbitrary period then the user supplies the date and time limits.
What I am trying to achieve is have the same parameter available for user input , but when the User decides he wants Predefined then the "textbox" populates with date and time as per his choice of predefind range.
I understand that by this the user can still overwrite the date and time on the text box, but the report will run the predefined values as long as he has the @PredefinedDateSelection Set to true.
Is there a way I can impement this?
Once again I thank you and appreciate  your input.

  • Multiple Users on one PC sharing Java Runtime Parameter setting

Is there a way to have mutiple logins share the -Smx512m setting in Java Runtime Parameters. It seems that when each person logs into the PC to use the application we have to enter the same Java Runtime Parametes again. Is there a way to add it once and every login uses it?
    Thanks,
    DLS

I have read the Deployment Configuration file and Properties and do not see how the -Xmx51m should be added to the deployment.properties.
Also it would seem you would need to use the deployment.system.config file so it would be used by all users on the PC.
Again I can not see an example of how to put in the "Java Runtime Parameters" in the deployment.system.properties file.
Has anyone done this before and could lead me in the correct directions?
    Thanks,
    DLS

  • Parameter Setting for Windows 64-Bit Windows (Zero Administration)

    Hi All,
I would like to know the advantages behind setting up parameters based on SNOTE 88416 & 1518419.
I will explain our current environment to make understand first. Kindly help us to provide the solution for each parameter to set in Default or Instance Profile accordingly.
We are using Windows 2008 R2 64-Bit with MS SQL Server 2008 in Cluster Mode.
We having 1 CI , 1 DB node, & 2 Dialog Nodes. In this dialog node we have created additionally 1 more dialog node also.
              1. Central Instances        -1 Server          128 GB RAM      Kernel 7.21_EXT_REL 401 Version
              2. Database Instance      -1 Server          128 GB RAM      Kernel 7.21_EXT_REL 401 Version
              3. Dialog Instances          -1 Server          128 GB RAM      Kernel 7.21_EXT_REL 401 Version
              4. 2 Dialog Instances.      -1 Server          128 GB RAM      Kernel 7.21_EXT_REL 401 Version
    Concerns:
        1. Whether we need to do fine tuning for parameters in 2 dialog node server, where we included additionally one more dialog node in that server recently.
( For Eg : em/initial_size_MB has been set 131008 value in 1 dialog node & 2 dialog node its has been set 61440 value )
Kindly suggest us whether we need to divide all parameters values for these 2 dialog nodes ?
        2.  As per SNOTE 88416 - Phys_Memsize scenario, kindly explain the same how to set in  default profile or instance profile. I have attached my calculation, please suggest the same.
It would be great if someone help us.
    Regards,
    Gopinath M.L

    Hi Sriram,
              Thanks for your reply.
    1. Each DI physical server level you have to define the memory parameters.
Yes, we have copied the entire parameters values as same as DI 1 & kept in DI 2.
My question is here, whether we need to share/divide all the parameters set accordingly in instance profile or not ??? If you require i can attach all parameters which has been set in DI 1 & DI 2.
    2. You have to define in the instance profile parameters and as per the SAP Note 88416 base reference of the initial memory and buffer parameters, in a month you have to review the memory parameters,
Please check the below link Memory parameters for SAP on 64 Bit Windows screenshot, which describes to add phys_memsize, need to understand how to add that parameter & calculation whether it should be in Default or Instance profile, where other parameters values will be calculated automatically.

  • Oracle 9.2.0.7 vs Oracle 10.2.3 with COMPATIBLE parameter set to 9.2.0.7

    Hi,
First off, I am NOT an oracle DBA (or even a DBA!), so please excuse my ignorance or errors contained within this post.
My client is currently planning to upgrade their 9.2.0.7 database server to 10.2.3. Reading through the oracle upgrade documentation, I came accross the compatible parameter, and further more you can set it to 9.2.0.7. I realise that by setting this, many new features introduced in Oracle 10g will not be available - however getting of the unsupported 9.2.0.7 platform is priority.
Can someone please advise what are the differences between a real 9.2.0.7 database server versus a 10.2.3 (with 9.2.0.7 compatible) server. By setting this will it guarantee sql scripts and external applications continue to work after the upgrade? I.e the list of compatibility issues detailed in the oracle database upgrade guide, will these issues be made irrelevant by this setting?
    Your expert knowledge is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Shan

When upgrading from 9i to 10g the compatible parameter should be set to 9.2.0. All of the new feature will only be available when the parameter is set to 10.0.0 or higher and the instance restarted.
Once an instance has been restarted with a compaticble value of 10.0.0 it can never be set back to 9.x.
Why do you think the upgrade is required if you still want to use the features of 9.2.0.7?

  • Use of parameter sets with prepared INSERTS via Oracle's ODBC driver 8.1.6.4

Oracles ODBC driver, version 8.1.6.4, allows for driver configuration of three different batch auto commit modes. If I select COMMIT ALL SUCCESSFUL STATEMENTS and cause my app to execute a prepared and parameterized INSERT statement that makes use of parameter value sets, all records up to the first record that causes an error are committed. What is happening? The driver returns only one diagnostic record, with SQLGetDiagField returning the index of the bad record through the [SQL_DIAG_ROW_COUNT] field. Regardless of whether SQLExecute executed successfully or not, the [SQL_ATTR_PARAM_OPERATION_PTR]/ [SQL_ATTR_PARAM_STATUS_PTR] buffers are not initialized by the driver. Even more so, the drive returns SQL_PARC_NO_BATCH for SQLGetInfo when [SQL_PARAM_ARRAY_ROW_COUNTS] is passed. Does anyone know if the driver fully or partially or does not support use of parameter value sets. If it is only partial implementation, ignoring the parameter operation and status buffers, in my opinion, greatly diminishes any real use of parameter value sets. Does anyone known if the above problems disappear with use of Oracles ODBC driver, version 8.1.7.3.0?
    All help is greatly appreciated,

Oracle8i version 8.1.6. Looking at the specs that come with the ODBC driver upgrades, version 8.1.7.3.0 [which requires Oracle*i version 8.1.7] and 8.1.6.4, it seems that similar enhancements/fixes were made to both. I honestly do not know if what I am attempting is possible with either of the ODBC drivers. I really would prefer not to have to drop down to programming using OCI.

  • Is there any detailed documentation available on the server parameter setti

It would be great to have examples and more information on what the consequences are if parameters are set too high or too low.
It would be great to have some real life examples that tell you what to consider when setting the lower memory threshold for the webi processing server, for example - or the maximum documents in cache.
I have found the handbook and the sizing guide but nothing in particular for the parameter settings of the servers.

  • BPEL......  On Alram Branch not throwing error after the set time

    Hi,
In SOA 10.1.3.4 BPEL process , i have a asynchronous process which Invokes a Partnerlink and waits in the Recieve Activity. The OnAlarm branch set here waits for 2 hrs, after which the scope throws that Global fault.
I have observed that for some instances, the OnAlarm Branch does not throw error even after about 24 hrs ( though the OnAlarm is set to 2 hrs )
Is this a prodcut defect or something to do with thread level issues ?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi,
We did not talk to Oracle last week, but hope to do so this week via web conference. According to Oracle support, the version and patch level we are on should not have the problem we are encountering. Both the Oracle constant and support have been unable to replicate the error when they attempt to recreate our setup on their own servers.
We can produce this issue 100% of the time, on a server with no load at all. it is a brand new environment for development use to which we have deployed the latest versions of our flows. I have deployed a simple flow containing just a Wait 15 minutes, and any instances in flight when I restart BPEL do not wake-up on time. Very occassionally, instances that previously failed to wake after a restart do wake after subsequent restarts, but that is not 100% of the time.
Hope to conference with Oracle on Wednesday.

  • IE 7 throws a no data set error

IE 7 is throwing the following error.
spry:region or spry:detailregion attribute has no data set!
Firefox does not. Anybody know why this is caused. I have
checked the xml returned in IE and it does parse it correctly.

Just curious have you guys figured out what the deal was with
    this?
You should also check to see if you have nested regions. We
currently don't support nested regions, and folks sometimes see
this error when they have one.

  • WPF Map Control Throws NullReferenceException

This is a weird problem.  The exception only happens if I have a break point in my project that is hit before the project is fully loaded (before the window appears on the screen).  Not every break point causes the exception.  I have not been
able to pinpoint what particular break points do and do not cause it.  I think it might be break points that are hit before some event happens on the UserControl that is hosting the map control but if that is the case I am not sure what event that might
be.  If you remove the break point the application works fine.  Break points that are hit later in the application do not cause a problem.
