CS 4 InDesign Document opening full size of window

I upgraded to CS 4 on one machine. Now whenever I open any document, new or old, even if saved, the document won't open to my working area but goes the whole width of the screen including under my palettes. I've tried to save but every time I open, it opens the whole way so I have to readjust every time I open any document and I work on many through the day. Is there a way in CS 4 to get it to only open to where you saved it? Thanks.

I have the same problem as the original poster here, having just upgraded to CS4.
I have no wish to use "application frames." The links to a script mentioned here and elsewhere are all dead.
Anyone have a good link for the script? Or other ideas?

Firefox is stuck on my task bar. It won't open full size

I have tiny windows that open just above the task bar. When I click on them, they go away. Mozilla will not open full size on my desktop. When I click on one, there was a streak going across the screen off to the right.

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

When I double click on a certain box in one InDesign CS6 document another InDesign CS6 document opens. Although this is isn't the end of the world it is somewhat annoying.
Any ideas?

What's the OS? Is ID patched to 8.0.1?
Have you tried Remove minor corruption by exporting?

I clicked on a bookmark and instead of the full screen opening it only opens in a panel on the left about 1/3 full size.

Bookmarked pages opening in the side bar is generally caused by Bookmarks that are created via clicking on a link or button on a website to create a Bookmark for the page.
Make sure that "''Load this bookmark in the side bar''" is '''''not''''' selected/checked.
*Open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B to open or close the Bookmarks Sidebar), right-click the offending Bookmark, choose "Properties", last item at the bottom above "Save/Close" buttons
*In the Library window (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks), click the offending Bookmark, click the "More" button at the bottom of the Details pane (right-hand pane), item is the last item above the word "Less".

Prevent documents opening full screen

Is there a preference (or file) that can be set/modified to prevent all documents from opening full screen? Opening a 100x30 pixel image and have it cover my entire cinema display is not helpful. Thanks!

- Turned off "Open new documents as tabs"... I like to have multiple files open so I can see them all at once.
I made a big upgrade from Fireworks 8 to CS4, and what I liked about the old version was that opening a small image would open an appropriately sized window. Now, even if my file is an image that's 10px by 10px, the entire screen is covered. Actually, I just ran an experiment opening an image that is 200px by 26px. In Fireworks 8, the window opened to 331px by 282px. In CS4 Fireworks, the window opened to 1606px by 1072px. I'm forced to resize the window every time I open a file.

.dng files do not open full size in PS CC

I've been working with Canon .CR2 files and later Adobe .dng files for years, and could always open them in Photoshop. Now, with PS CC, the files open as small previews (420 x 280 px) instead of the full size. This means I cannot work with my photographs!!!! I haven't found a setting in either Bridge or PS to correct this.

I open pic files by either double-clicking on them in Bridge or on the desktop, or using "Open" from within PS. iPhoto is not involved at all. It's not something funny I'm doing; it's a bug in PS CC (I've been using PS since 1990).

Documents open in separate Acrobat Window Acrobat 9 Pro

When I open multiple documents in Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, each opens in a separate window.
In Acrobat 6 Pro, all files opened in the same window, & I could select which was displayed in the 'window' menu, or I could cascade or tile the documents.
Can Acrobat 9 be configured to open multiple documents without opening separate windows for each? If so, can it be easily switched back & forth?

This is the worst thing to happen to acrobat, in my opinion.
The clutter that it creates on my computer and the fact that i cant even see the document title when I have a bunch of them open (because the task bar is too full) is unacceptable.
I never would have changed from Acrobat 8 if I had known, and now I cant switch back (company license).
The latest thing i can find about addressing it is here:

why hasnt any thing else been done about it? I just spent 45 minutes being sent to different departments over the phone, only to be told to submit a feature request.

Is there a way to find text within InDesign documents in a search using windows environment?

We are working in Windows and transitioning from using Word to InDesign for our documents. InDesign documents do not show up in the results when trying to search for a file name or file contents. How can we search for specific text within our InDesign documents? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

InDesign documents opening off-centre

Hi,
Noticing a few bugs with the new CC apps and one that keeps cropping up is whenever I open an existing document (normally a landscape document) Indesign places it off-centre to the right of the screen. I've got the panels on the right docked to the right edge of the screen and the document isn't set to 'facing pages' which I know can sometimes create the same problem.
Not a major issue but just wondered if anyone gets the same problem and if there is a way to fix it.

Set default save for documents to Full Size

10.9.2 - New Documents open to a search window . . .

After upgrading to 10.9.2, every time I open Pages, TextEdit, etc . . . I get a this annoying window that is a hybrid Finder / Search window. I have to either search for an existing document, press "done" in the bottom right, or "New Document" in the bottom left. This is super redundent as choosing New Document often taks you to the app's template chooser or done will guess what kind of document format I want, forcing me to go back to the template chooser anyway. It is an annoying distribution to my work flow. How do you disable this new unwelcomed feature?

I think I have this solved. I turned off File Sharing on both computers, rebooted, and turned file sharing back on. Now Hubby's Mac can open My Mac's files.

Pdf link dont work if document open in separate Acrobat window in internet explorer

We have many pdf with different links between this pdf. The link type is "Open a file".
- If the fist pdf document is open from hard drive this links works perfectly.
- If the pdf document is open from the web site (http://website/doc1.pdf) and adobe reader is configured to open pdf in internet explorer it work also.
- But if the reader is configured to open pdf in a external window this link dont work. The link try to open the second pdf in c://Internet Temporary Folder/ as root instead of http://website/
Does anyone know a workaround ? I don't know if my customers have configured the reader to open in internet explorer or in a external windows...

If web browser integration is turned off, it really is turned off.
Adobe Reader simply becomes a "helper" application. The browser
downloads the file, puts it somewhere, and runs Adobe Reader. Adobe
Reader is not told anything special about the file and its origins, so
it cannot know that this was (before the download) a web file, or
where it came from.
A URL link might be the answer.

Indesign CS5 document opened by two users

We have a problem when one user has an indesign document open off of a shared server and then another user is able to open the same document.
This should not happen and would like any insight to what could be causing this and how to stop it.

Are both users fully patched?

Documents open "small" in newest version of Pages 5.5.2

I just noticed this in the most recent version of Pages and it's making working with old documents...tedious.
Instead of opening in the view size that I had closed them as, all existing Pages documents open in the same window dimensions, so I have to readjust the window dimensions of each document. This didn't happen previously.
How can I get all documents (existing docs) to open, say, in a specific windows dimension, magnification, and ideally, the same (or nicely overlapping) place on my monitor screen?
