CS 5.0: inserting graphic via drag&drop with import options?

is there a shortcut to show the import settings dialog window by dragging a graphic from outside of InDesign?

Can't copy pdf via drag & drop to iBooks

Hi everybody,
I wanted to copy some PDFs to my iPad via drag & drop and iTunes but I am suffering under the problem that nothing happens.
I even get not displayed a "+" on my cursor and everything I have tried, nothing is copied to the ipad..
iPad is running under iOs 4.3 and iTunes is up-to-date.

I thought you were trying to find out how to drag and drop PDF files in your iTunes library in order to sync to your iPad but there are ways of sending files without syncing.
If it is just a PDF file - not a book - you can attach the file to an email and send it yourself from your computer to the iPad, open it and choose the option of open in iBooks. When you open the file in your email, tap the curved arrow icon in the upper right corner and select open in iBooks. Then the PDF will be stored in books for later viewing.
You can also sync PDF files with apps like Dropbox using WiFi. There are other apps available that will do the same thing.

Add VideoDisplay to HorizontalList via drag & drop

Wasn't able to find anything related to this via the forum
search, so hopefully this isn't topic that's already been covered.
I'm trying to add VideoDisplay objects to a HorizontalList
via. drag & drop. I have most of drag & drop functionality
completed, but I haven't been able to figure out how to add the
VideoDisplays dynamically to the list. Tried a few different
things, none of them seemed to work. It seems like this should be
easy enough, anyone have any ideas? Thanks

By the way, has anyone tried to drag & drop a node from a listview to a
treeview? I can drag a node from the listview. But when I drop it into
the treeview, how can I find out which node of the treeview that I drop
into? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Try to change the state of the DVNodeText of the list view to FS_DRAG.
For example,
<MyListView.DVNodeText>.state = FS_DRAG. This may solve your problem.

In FX 8 (WinXP and Linux) I'm not able to change a route of the Google Maps routeplanner via drag&drop, the markers of start and destination don't appear and therefore cannot be moved, either.

Usually (IE, Firefox 7 and below) if you go along the blue line of a route planned by Google Maps, a small circle appears which can be dragged and dropped to other roads so that the routeplanner changes the route. This is impossible with Fx 8, the circle doesn't appear and when trying to drag&drop I only move the map. The same applies to the markers which mark the start and destination of the route, they are not visible and cannot be moved. Disabling Adblock and Firegestures didn't solve the problem.
When the page is loading for a moment you can see the symbol for an image which is not yet loaded both where the markers should be and if you go along the line with the mouse. As soon as the page is completely loaded you don't see this anymore.

Difference between importing images from iphoto via drag & drop vs 'media' button

Hi (long time reader of this community, but my first post),
i'm creating a huge document (approximately 200 pages) in Pages (5.0.1, Using Maverick on a 27 inch iMac).
In the new version of Pages the "Media" button only produces small images that makes it difficult for me to choose which photo i want.
Is there a difference between importing images from iphoto drag & drop vs 'media' button.
Or is it better to just drag and drop the original jpegs (which i also have in a folder).
Is Pages the best program to use for this type of project? it is a profolio with about 4 photos, text, text boxes etc on each of the 200+ pages.

Pages 4.3 might be up to the job. I very much doubt Page 5.0.1 is. It lacks more than 90 features of its predecessor and is very buggy to boot. You probably have an iwork09 folder in your Applications folder. I suggest you trash Pages 5.0.1 and use Pages 4.3 until Apple makestheir new "Eddie Cue" ready for prime time (if, that is, they ever do).

Drag & drop with Safari

I use a language site that needs the drag and drop gesture to match words with their meaning. When I try this on ipad's safari, it scrolls the page instead. Is there a way to turn off the scrolling so Safari responds to the drag and drop gesture?

First, though, you may stop and wonder about how Drag & Drop is already working in iOS in any number of apps, which, by the way, does include Safari. It may not work on some particular site that you're interested in, but certainly does in others.

Drag drop photo import to aperture folder why auto new project folder appear .

i do import photos from desktop to folder that i want in the aperture libary . as soon as i drag and drop photos automatically new peoject folder appear in the libabry as name untitled project.. why? i dont want that new project folder. i try to delete that folder and my picture all automatically deleted from library.
also if i try to delete photos from preject folder .. it completely deleted from master library .. picture will be lost.. why?
i drag and move pictures to brand new album or folder .. then try to delete wanted project folder - master picture are all gone.
now i have at least 30-40 of untitled project folder in the library ... pictrure are not movable i meant you can move but u still have to keep old project folder to avoid master picture can not be deleted ...
someone help me? did i make myself clear?

You might read the manual or the Help as this is all covered there.
If you want to import to a specific project use the File -> Import option. You can select your destination there.
Every photo in a Library is in a project. Projects are the basic building block of the Library. That's why.
Folders don't contain photos. They can contain Projects or Albums. These contain photos. Albums don't contain the actual photos, just links to them. So if you add a photo to an Album and then delete the project... you delete the photo.
Remember: you don't move photos to an Album, you add them.

Simple drag&drop with handler doesn't work in Edge?

Hi all!
I made this very simple example of Drag&Drop in Edge: http://www.terredainventare.it/simpledrag/simpledrag.html using Jquery Ui http://docs.jquery.com/UI/Draggable.
I try to use the JQueryUi "handle" property that makes you drag an object restricting drag click on only one element but it doesn't work.
Here's the code I've put in Edge onCompositionReady:

Of course my two Div-elements are called "drag" and "handler". Now the drag works only on the "wrong" element and not on the "handle".....

Manual sync drag & drop with many playlists

Ok I do not want to automatically sync my itunes with either my iPod or iPhone - end of story. I have 1000's of songs. I also organize my music by creating playlists, not just by artist but also DJ playlists. I have more single songs then entire albums. For years I've found the drag & drop highly irritating as it's the only way - that I know - to put a playlist manually on external devices. What I do instead is use a bullet or spaces before my playlist so they're at the top of the iTunes list but this is very tedious and and time consuming. I then have to remove the bullets/spaces once I've finished.
Is there something I'm missing here? With every update of iTunes I'm hoping something as simple as "sync selected playlist to external device" in some form will show up. What's the story? Why is something so convenient and simple not available?

Agreed!!! If I'm missing something here please let me know but to manually drag and drop play lists is not an option for me. I arrange all my music in play lists (as mentioned above). I need a way of safely backing up the lists in case they get lost / damaged / accidentally erased (I can't tell you how frustrating it is to hit the delete button by mistake - to lose a play list when all I wanted to do was delete a single track).......
Currently my ipod is my only way off backing up the lists. I'm also constantly updating these lists, so to manually go and back up each play list would take weeks.....
Backing up the data list (XML) wont do either. I need a way of backing the play list and actual tracks that are included in the list. I know a lot of people who share this concern.

Unable to add, drag/drop, or import to iTunes library.

My sister and I each have a MacMini. I tried to transfer files from my PC to the MacMini by transferring to the Mac's harddrive (no problem here). For some reason I am unable to import the xml file to the iTunes library, none of the import options including drag and drop works. Nothing happens. My sister was able to perform on the task on her MacMini with no problem. We've compared the preference files to no avail. Although, I've figured out another way of transferring the file, I still would like these features to work. What do I need to do? I have the current version of iTunes 10.5.

Try these steps.
1. Turn off all the devices in the chain in this order: MBPr, any wireless routers on the network, the internet modem.
2. Wait several seconds after turning off the last item then power them back on in reverse order waiting for each device to completely power up before turning on the next device.

This is a nice example of how to move a rectangle around a Canvas in Kinect...
But how can it interact with other objects? In my case ones that have AllowDrop="True"?
For example: If I put your DragDropElement around an Image then shift it up to a Canvas that is subscribed to the Drop event nothing is fired upon letting go.
The mouse equivalent of:

Drag & Drop with Fdev6iR2 on Linux / Adding object to an object group

Hi all
I experienced a very annoying bug in Forms Developer 6i Release II for Linux when I tried to add a Object to an Object group.
The drag & drop simply doesn't work and there seems to be no way to work around this.
Has anybody an idea whether there's another way to add an object to an objectgroup or what could cause this error?
I'm using KDE 1.1.2-48 on XFree86 4.0.1-1 with Motif WM 1.2.4-3glibc installed, maybe this helps one of you...

Running reports via command-line with /batch option

I have created a batch file which runs, and exports the results of 7 different discoverer reports with /batch option.
Contents of batch file:

Problem:
The first reports runs and exports ok.
All the others dis4usr.exe processing stops with the following error pop-up:
! Could not open file. OK
Question:
Can you only process reports sequentially via command line mode with /batch option?
If not...what am I missing...its driving me insane :)

Ladies and gentlemen.....I have solved my problemo!
The reason why the rest of the reports were getting the 'could not open file.' error was due to the fact that each discoverer instance launched was
trying to access the same standard log file simultaneously.
I modified each cmd file to write logging info to individual files: eg
/logfile "H:\Projects\DRP Import Modelling\Automation\input2_log.txt"
Now that's there's no contention with logging, the reports are firing off beautifully in parallel :)
I am definitely having a beer this evening!

Import via Drag & Drop not working with LR CC (after Update from 5.7)

I always imported my pictures by just dragging them in the Windows Explorer and dropping them to the Lightroom Gallery tab.
This does not work with LR CC anymore.
The longer way via "Import" works fine.
Any suggestions?

With Gallery i meant Library, my mistake (wrong translation, i am using the german version).
What works with your setup doesn't work with mine.
I attached a screenshot:
As you can see (cursor) i can't import the file from the file explorer on the right.
(The file is not already in the catalogue and i am in the library tab grid view mode).
