CS 5.5 - Am I missing stuff on my install disks?

I bought CS 5.5 Production Premium from my University.  I got 4 disks:
Disks 1-3 are labelled "Application" and when I put the first disk in the drive and run the setup, it does the installation and asks me to put in disks 1 through 3.  At the end of the installation, I have all the Production Premium programs, and they all work fine.
Disk 4 only contains 1GB of data, and has just some readme files, and a bunch of fonts... nothing else.
Shouldn't Disk 4 contain a bunch of project files and other resources?

Hi Jyunte,
There should be some ReadMe PDF's contained in the bundles with instructions for installation including fonts, etc.
But you may have noticed from the package sizes that they are non-overlapping...  In other words, the CS5.5 suite content bundles do not contain the same materials that the individual application bundles do.  You would also download the additional content for whichever applications you use and want.
So in other words, if you owned CS5.5 Master Collection or Production Premium, and used After Effects or Premiere Pro extensively, you might also want to download the free functional content for those point products (which are large at 744 MB and 2.5 GB).
Same idea if you had the Design Premium suite and used InDesign, etc.  Adobe probably did it this way to keep the sizes manageable for "a la carte."
Anyway, whatever is available, it's all there.  So just download and install whatever you would want and use.

  • Panther has missing and text on install disk  Help !

I need some help when I boot with either Tiger or my panther install disk I get missing letters in the text . I have a 1ghtz dual quicksilver , 80 gb hard drive ,512 ram , Ge Force 4mx video. I am now running 10.2.8 . I would like to upgrade but this machine has issues . I even tried to boot off of the external firewire disk that I have Panther installed and the same thing appears, missing and garbled text. Please Help !

Try running the hardware tests again, but this time in loop mode and have them run continuously for an hour or so. If you do get any reported error codes, then that indicates a problem. However, usually the error codes include some letters as well as numbers. The former indicate what system reported a problem while the numbers provide an indication of the type or severity of the problem.
The fact that the problem occurs when you boot from an installer disc suggests something hardware related as opposed to a possible problem with your OS X installation. Of course you could simply have a dead internal backup battery or just need to reset the PRAM. If could also be due to the fact that the keyboard you're using is not supported by the version of OS X contained on the installer discs, but is by the version of OS X you have installed.

  • Mac Pro missing "Create Windows 7 Install Disk"

Okay well when i try to use bootcamp as i already bought a copy of windows 7. The Create Windows 7 Install Disk option is not there for me. In every tutorial to setup bootcamp has had that option. Is my bootcamp messed up or did i do something wron? Specs: 2 x 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 6GB 1066Mhz OS X 10.8.2 Thanks

Your Mac Pro must be newer than a Mac Pro 5,1, and must have a minimum ROM version in order to use the USB installer you are looking for.  If your machine is older, or doesn't have the correct ROM versions, then you need to use the "old fashioned" disc install method....

  • Where's X11? And How Do I Get Stuff Off Of Install Disks With A Beige?

I just installed GIMP for graphics in case I can't ge thte disappearing Photoshop cursor in classic problem worked out.
I started up GIMP and it says I need X11. Now I thought it was on the XCodeTools disk, and I thought I had already installed them (do the Developers Tools have to be a certain place for the OS to see them?) - but all the documentations I find tells me it's on OSX install disks themselves.
    Uh-oh.
It won't LET me open the install disks, because I have a beige. How do I get into the installer - I used XPF and it got to the OS install and the only options I found were to do an archive and install, so I stopped and backed out.
Don't think I want to go there, just to put in some tools packages. Should I have pushed on through to the next window in the installer or what?
My nightmare scenario is the installer porks the system folder and I have to do the whole strip-the-guts-out and reinstall it all again..
(gaah! somebody smack me, I'm SO neurotic about this..)
How do I get to the X11 installer? Where is it?

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

  • Why does the OS ask me to use StuffIt when StuffIt is not installed?

I have a brand-new Mac Book (10.4.8). I have not explicitly installed either Microsoft Office (though the Office trial is still running) or StuffIt.
I'm trying to download and open a .sit file. It erroneously gets opened by Microsoft Word. I've gathered from elsewhere on this forum that the problem is that I don't have StuffIt installed on my machine.
I used Spotlight to look for an application on my machine called Stuffit*, and couldn't find any.
However, when I try to download the file using Firefox I get a dialog box asking me whether I want to save it to disk or open it with StuffIt.
    I'm confused.
    1) Does Stuffit come preinstalled on the Mac?
    2) If StuffIt is not installed on my machine, why do I get an option to use it in a download dialog?

    No
    2) If StuffIt is not installed on my machine, why do I get an option to use it in a download dialog?
Don't know.. but if you're certain that neither you nor anyone else with access to the computer has installed it, you could just download it.

  • Missing file system after installing in SSD

Missing file system after installing in SSD MacBook
    Hi All
I recently installed a SSD drive in my Macbook, I used the Disk Utility to clone the old HDD.
When i reboot the machine with the new disk I get the image of a folder with question mark.
If i reboot the machine again and hold the alt key at the chime I can see two disks.
One called SSD and another called Recovery.
if i choose the SSD the OS starts as normal and if i choose the recovery option and check the disk with disk utility
it tells me that everything is fine.
Any ideas how i can make the machine boot as it should without having to hold down the alt key a start up??

Hi i tried this and just got the big symbol of doom at start up.
However, a little terminal witchcraft did the trick!

How do I correct Install failed "APS DAEMON.EXE error. MSVCR80.dll missing" and "iTunes not installed correctly. Error 7

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • I am missing the os 10.4 disks for an early white intel imac.

I am missing the os 10.4 disks for an early white intel 24" imac. Is there any where to download it. I have 10.4 disks for an mac pro 10.4 and macbook pro 10.4 and tons of others but am missing the install discs for this computer.
Avid Xpress is used on that mac so I can't update it to 10.5 otherwise Avid stops working.
Does apple have any support/downloads for that system?

No downloads for the Discs, but it's possible that if you call AppleCare with it's Serial# handy, they may have replacement original Discs for a small fee.

I just purchased a macbook pro and was wondering about an install disk.  It seems to be missing some of the applications that should be on it from a fresh install.  I was wondering if I would have to purchase a new OS and do a fresh install?

Ahhh, well  you never mentioned that before. You need to contact your friend from whom you purchased the computer. He/She should have any and all install discs for any third-party software included as well as for OS X and the original pre-installed software.
Apple will gladly sell you replacements for any discs that did come with the computer originally, but they will not do anything for you because you purchased the computer used. If it's in warranty still, then you can get any warranty covered things taken care of through AppleCare:

  • Missing install disk on new MacBook Pro 15"

I just received a new MacBook Pro 15" from CDW.  There were no install/operating system disk's with the computer.  In the past my other mac's have come with the install disks.
Is this a new procedure for Apple?
I searched for discussions and on the internet but can not find a concise answer for this.

Look under the Apple menu for your OS X version, if it's 10.6.x then your missing your disks and you need to get them, either from CRW or Apple using your serial number.
If it's 10.7 then it's Lion and it doesn't come with disks, a recovery partition that requires a strong reliable fast internet connection to download and reinstall it.

  • Missing tiger features after install

    hello
for christmas i bought my wife a power mac g5 2.3 ghz & bought my gilrs an imac g5. both came with tigger.
i inherited my wifes old g4 mdd and went out and bought a family pack tigger 10.4.3. i wiped the g4 and installed tigger. unfortunately i found out i could not my account onto the mdd from my old g4 400 mhz with agp due to firmware issues. so, i did everything mannually.
anyway, im noiticing there are features on my wifes and girls copy of tigger that seem to be missing on mine. such as:
-when i move files in and out of folders, no neato sound. i checked sound in prefs, they have 3 options, mine has 2.
    -no ripply effect with widgets
    - i have to wait a real long time before i can highlighti text under a folder or icon, if i do it to quick (or slow!), the folder or file will open, irritating.
are there some major subtle diffs between factory installed tigger and retail version? or did i miss sometyhing on the install?
    thanks
    wayne

    Hello Nut Case:
This knowledge base article explains why you do not get the ripple effect:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301347
The effect is hardware based - no setting required.
The other differences are, I suspect, a function of the platform rather than your install.

GrandPerspective is a nice app that shows a graphic representation of what's on your disk, so you can get an idea of what is taking up too much space.GrandPerspective
Don't buy CleanMyMac or any other dreck that offers to "clean" your Mac for you. Worst software ever.
If there are apps in your Applications folder you don't need any more, drag them to the trash and empty the trash.
In general, it is media files, like music, photos, and especially video that is taking up a lot of space. You can move your iTunes library, iPhoto Library, and iMovie video to an external drive.
