CS 5.5 crashes when importing from AE
Premire 5.5 crashes when rendering impo
rted files from AE,specifically warp
stabilazation files.Running Windows 7 64-bit.
Sorry about not getting back sooner. Your were a great help. We started
with the work around, that was where it was crashing. When we used dynamic link
it worked fine.Go figure. We hadn't thought about using dynamic link.[Were
old and set in our ways}

Are you importing an AE comp via Dynamic Link? If so and this is what is
crashing PPro, then you may have to settle for pre-rendering the clip in AE,
then importing the clip to PPro. It depends on how quickly you need to get
it done. That's a quick and effective workaround, but not an answer as to
why the crash is happening. Whenever I run into a problem like this, it
always seems that it ends up being a file-type issue. I was having a similar
issue in AE a few weeks ago that I just couldn't explain. I was working with
an AVCHD file in AE that worked fine in PPro, but AE kept crashing. I
eventually converted the file in AME to a lossless .avi and the problem
disappeared.

CS5 crash when importing from external library
Hello.
I am using Flash CS5 on Win7 64 bit. I have made a flash site. On this site I am trying to add a photo gallery. I bought a flash XML photogallery from Active Den. The gallery is working fine but to get this into my site I need to import the library items into my flash site fla file. What happens is this. I drag the main movie clip from the photo gallery fla onte the stage of my flash site fla. So far so good. When publishing it shows up but without some parts.
When trying to import the missing items from the photo gallery fla to my flash site fla the program crashes. Done it a billion times now and allways the same result. All but the main movie clip causes the program to crash on importing/dragging to stage.
Installed the latest updates but no luck.
Please help!!!!
Sincerely
RonnyNo I tried both neither seems to be working on my system. I used Duplin version 2.5 because 2.6 requires Leopard and I am running tiger.
this is a mess, and I haven't done anything but import the files, I don't want to start setting up play list until I can figure out one of two things.
Why it did it in the first place, I could delete everything and reimport.
Or how to clean it up with doing it one track at a time.
Thanks -
BI Admin Tool crashes when importing from Essbase
Hi folks,
I'm trying to import an Essbase cube into my OBIEE RPD and it is causing the Admin Tool to crash with a generic Windows error msg that "BI Admin Tool has stopped working and Windows is looking for a solution"..
I'm using OBIEE 10.3.1.4 with all components, including BI Server installed on my local machine which is Windows 7 32-bit. The Essbase server is on a different machine. The RPD is working fine for several other data sources, and crashes only when I try to import from Essbase. The Essbase server is also working fine. The crash happens regardless of whether I'm in online or offline mode. I even tried to create a new RPD in case the other one was corrupted, but even the new one crashes.
I have Essbase client installed on the same machine as BI Server and my environment variables seem fine. All ports on the Essbase server machine are open and I can ping it from the BI Server machine, so it is not a network issue. I know this version of OBI is not officially supported on Windows 7, but it's working fine in all other respects. Has anyone had a similar problem in the past?
Appreciate any advise.
thanks,
Axe

Premiere Elements 11 crashes when importing from a DVD
Hi, I'm having trouble with my Adobe Premiere Elements 11.
I am trying to get footage off a set of DVDs I shot a while back (shot on a DVD cam, I forget what the model is cuz it wasnt mine) Anyway, Everything went fine for the 1st 3 DVDs, but when I got to the 4th, when I went to "get media" it does nothing for awhile, then if you try to click it freezes and the dialog box pops up saying the program is not responding and closes.
Also, after that happened, it does the same thing with the other DVDs when I go back to try them. I can play it via my DVD player software, but Adobe crashes when I try to get the media.
Also, after this error in adobe, my DVD drive locks and I can't eject via the manural button, and when i right click on the drive in My Computer hit eject, it says "error ejecting DVD-RW Drive"
I have to eaither log off/restart or go into the properties and disable the drive and reenable to be able to eject the DVD.
I really don't understand whats going on, and why its doing this. Nothing changed on my computer inbetween ripping the DVD media, as I was doing them all back to back. I would import from DVD, then export as WMV so I could send the footage to someone (the .VOB files wouldn't work for this and my file converters where not working right)
I have done an uninstall and reinstall (with a registry clean in between) and even a system restore to a previous point to resolve another issue I was having. (Could not make new folders)
But Adobe/DVD drive is still having this issue.
I'm running on an HP Pavilion dm4-1165dx Laptop with Win 7 64bit btw. I can get exact specs later if its nessesary. But it was working just fine until I got to the last DVD so IDK why it would just quit on me like this.John T.,
You are correct. I probably was not clear in my question.
If the miniDVD's were produced correctly, and all discs were finalized, first doing a Copy of those miniDVD discs to the HDD, would be my first step.
While one can Import directly from DVD's, there are a couple of possible issues:
The process will be much slower, than Importing from Copies on the HDD, especially an internal HDD.
One will not have to have the particular miniDVD's inserted into the multi-drive (not possible with most computers and only one multi-drive.
Good luck to the OP,

Crash when Importing from Canon ZR800
I just bought a Canon ZR800 MiniDV Camcorder. When I import into iMovie 08 it consistently causes iMovie to crash. I can then start the import from the point of the crash and it will proceed for a while and then crash again. Any suggestions?
I just got a ZR800 today to use to import some tapes and I'm seeing similar issues on. The only way I can capture from the camera is to disconnect any firewire drives connected to the machine. I've tried on two different machines (one with 10.4 and one with 10.5), but using the same firewire external (LaCie D2 triple interface). Doesn't matter if the drive is plugged in via Firewire 400 or Firewire 800. Un-plug the drive and everything's fine.
I'll try with another external drive once I've finished importing the video I need to get off the camera. I suspect, from other reports on the Net and here, that the behaviour will be the same with other firewire drives. I'll also give a USB drive a try. -
FCP 7.01 crashes when importing from a DSR 11 tape deck.
I am trying to import to FCP 7.01 some DV Pal footage from the DSR 11 tape deck. When I play the film it shows in the viewer fine, but if I then click the capture now button it crashes FCP. I have rebooted several times and it has happened about ten times consecutively. Any ideas why? I've been capturing using cards since getting the new system and not needed to do this before, but need to import a dvcam tape and can't do it.
deck is connected via a firewire cable, device control is set to Firewire Pal, capture input DV Pal 48k Anamorphic, 5TB of space on scratch disk available. This is a new system and I have output to the deck fine for a previous job, but now have this issue with importing from the same deck. Crashes FCP every time.

Lighroom v2 crashes when importing from device
I have a Mac with the latest OS. When I attempt to import from a device (CF card reader) in many cases I get the beach ball and end up having to force quit LR2. I then updated to 2.1. Same problem. After it crashes, I usually have to restart computer to get LR2 to work again.
Sometimes I can get the import screen to come up. If I scroll down to view images, it will then crash. Or try to deselect an image.
I can copy the images via the finder onto my HD and import them that way via LR with no issues. Just when I attempt to import via a device.
Any ideas?I'm afraid I've had this problem for months and nothing seems to solve it - not even extensive emails with Adobe's crack team in sweden. It's bought me to my knees. I've tried a new hard drive, a new camera card, a new firewire reader, formatting the card, importing the files to the desktop and then importing to LR (which didn't work for me), changing cameras, reinstalling the OS, upgrading the OS, shutting down all other apps....everything. I get the pizza wheel of death and a total corruption of my catalogue. The problem is that it occurs intermittently so its hard to test for the fault systematically.
The curious thing is that I have three macs and only one of them has this problem, so in the end I had to get rid of the macpro and buy a new one.
However last week I just put a new hard drive in one of the machines that has been running LR fine for sometime and now that has started to crash too, so I'm wondering if there is a connection between the harddrive and LR. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

FCE crashes when importing from camera
I'm using FCE 2.0.3 and a Panasonic NV-GS300 camcorder. I've installed the program with the camera on and connected (as recommended by Apple).
No matter what 'easy settings' (or otherwise) FCE crashes before importing anything.
The camera isn't included in the Apple list of supported camcorders- does this mean it will never be possible to use this camera with FCE?
Importing into iMovie works fine. But I'm trying to avoid going through iMovie then into FCE.
Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated.
G4 Dual 1GHZ 1GB Ram Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hi Tom,
Thanks for the help and the re-direction to the post regarding re-installing FCE. However, it hasn't changed the crashing behaviour when the program tries to connect to the camera.
The crash report states:

This, however,it makes no sense to me as I don't understand such technicalities- though you may...
I haven't re-installed Quicktime as I believe it does have all the requisite componants-and all other QT related things seem to work fine.
Do you have any other ideas/clues...?
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Iphoto crashes when importing from SD card
I found similar discussions but no solution.
I am using snow leopard with Iphoto. I never had any problems but now I am not able to import pictures into the library. Iphoto crashes whenever I am trying to import from an SD card. I need to restart the computer to be able to use Iphoto again. Is there a limit of the library size? I read something about 250000 pictures but I am far away from this number. LR crashes when importing from a specific folder
I'm new to LR, and am experiencing a very frustrating problem. First, my system setup:
Dell Dimension 8300
2GB RAM
Windows XP SP2
Latest ATI Radeon 9800 video drivers
Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0
I have an existing file structure as follows. All contain JPG images from various digital cameras that I can open fine in Photoshop:
1998
1998 01
1998 02
1999
1999 01
1999 02
2007
I have been able to import photos from all of my folders (1997-2007) EXCEPT for 1999. Each time I try to import from that folder (and subfolders) it crashes LR. I've tried copying that folder to another drive and importing, but it still crashes. All the files appear valid to me, unless I'm missing something. Is there some reliable way to test JPG files for corruption?
I've tried all the "basic" troubleshooting steps in the FAQ and am hoping someone has some other ideas before I have to take out the heavy artillery.

* Trash com.apple.iTunes.eq.plist,com.apple.iTunes.plist.
Use utilty to repair disk permission
Use utility to repair disk
Trash and reinstall latest itune
I am wondering what else I need to do. Is there a solution. Seems there is no answer as there are many having the same issue unanswered.I simply had to repair the autorizations with disk utilities... Go figure...

IPhoto 9.4.3 Crashes when importing from Shared Library
I have an early 08 Mac Pro with Mountain Lion running iPhoto 9.4.3. I'm attempting to import a good nubmer of photos from a shared library which resides on my MBP also running 10.8.2 and iPhoto 9.4.3. It starts to import, but after about 10-20 photos (Nikon Raw) it crashes. Consistently. Deleted plist, didn't fix it. Created a new test library, same issue. I'm attempting to copy over several hundred at a time, which I know is ridiculous, but a) I have too many to import going one by one or 20 by 20, and b) it didn't have a problem earlier when doing the same thing. I was importing >300 at a time last week.
My library is large, >100gb if that helps.
Here is the crash report. Please help me figure out what is going on!!!!

Import some photos and check to see if the same problem persists. If you can import a couple of times successfully the problem lies with your orignal library on the destination Mac.
If that's the case make a temporary, backup copy of your library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory. -
Migration Assistant Crashes when importing from ext HD using Time Machine
Hi there,
I'm having issues restoring a harddrive using migration assistant to import a TimeMachine backup.
I've just reinstalled Mac OS X 10.5.8 onto a Mac Pro 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 2GB RAM.
I've done all updates and repaired permissions on bootable drive and repaired the external disk where the TimeMachine is stored.
The TimeMachine is stored on an external harddrive with USB2.0 connection.
I can load Migration Assistant, select migrate from TimeMachine, but when the import users screen appears after 40 seconds or so Migration Assistant crashes.
Here is the console report:

Hi Pondini,
Thank you for your reply, your help is much appreciated.
The original problem was: On one user account the user root directory was not writable (i.e. the user couldn't save any work to their documents), so I tried to reset the permissions in the "get info" menu, but after that the OS X directory didn't start. I did successfully repair all permissions using Disk Utility (running from the external harddrive OSX i mentioned in my last post).
Do you think Disk Utility didn't repair all the permissions? In this case, the permissions on the Time Machine backup might still be corrupted.
That doesn't affect user permissions, only permissions on files installed by OSX or Apple apps. And you can't repair permissions on your backups, since that's not a "bootable" volume.
It seems that my Migration Assistant crashes routinely after 40 seconds (or so) no matter which options you select (if any). Even if I leave the app searching for user accounts on the Time Machine it crashes.
If I'm quick i'll be able to deselect all users except admin, or if I'm slow I won't get so far. No matter what, it still crashes.
Oh, it hadn't sunk in that it was crashing before you make selections. Now that I re-read your first post, I see you did say that, sorry.
The app never allows me to view installed applications.
No, it won't. You can only select or omit them.
I don't know whether you have a problem with your Mac or the backups.
You mentioned earlier that you'd done a +*Repair Disk+* on the TM drive, so if there's a problem with them, it's something DU can't fix.
Have you done a +*Verify Disk+* on your internal HD? If not, make sure it's ok.
If so, something may be amiss with the +Migration Assistant+ app. I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. That's the cleverly-named combination of all the updates to Leopard since it was first released, so installing it should fix anything that's gone wrong since then, such as with one of the normal "point" updates. Info and download available at: http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate Be sure to do a +Repair Permissions+ via Disk Utility (in your Applications/Utilities folder) afterwards. -
PS touch crashing when importing from creative cloud
Trying to include my ipad into my photo work flow at least for some basic edits.
I'm uploading my images to creative cloud. They appear in photoshop touch and I can see thumbnails. However when I go to download one about 75% of the time the application just crashes after the blue loading bar fills.
This is using an ipad mini running iOS 7.
Worth noting that the images are raw filed from a d600 which are about 30mb each and have tried various resolution settings for max import to no avail.I've rebooted several times. I will say that after a reboot is when it's most likely to work. At least once.. Never works twice in a row. Opening the same files stored locally works fine.
I've also noticed that it may not actually be a "crash" per se. In looking the app is actually still showing as open. But since it reinitializes anyway the downloaded file is lost.
There's about 6gb free on the device currently.
Also this entire process works fine on an ipad3 from the same creative cloud account. Same files. -
Garageband Crashes when importing from iTunes
Garageband 08 - up to date
ITunes - 8.1.1 (10 - up to date - library is held on an Airport Disk
White MacBook 80GB
Tiger
New problem just started occurring in Garageband. When you try to import a track from iTunes (via the media library screen in garageband, ie drag and drop), Garageband just quits back to the desktop. (Asks if you want to reopen, try again etc, but no effect).
All other functions of Garageband appear to work fine - including exporting TO ITunes, and also importing photos through media library or garageband samples.
Have tried repairing file permissions in disk utilities, and deleting the GB preferences file (as advised in Apple Shop) but no effect.
This worked fine until a few days ago, and had been done hundreds of times with no problems.
Any ideas?Just to say that I'm having the same problem. The iTunes version (8.1.1) came in more recently than the last update on GB. I'm trying to think if there have been any general OS X updates recently, but I'm not sure.
The workaround is fine, but if anyone hears about a patch so that it works normally, I'd be happy to know.
