CS 5.5 on a Mac running Parallels to interface with a windows system.

Hi
I have just upgraded to CS5.5 and amongst many other things I cannot seem to copy & paste into InDesign 5.5 from my Windows apps. Can anyone shed any light please?
Cheers

Sounds like a Parallels issue. Why don't you ask on their website.

    Hello,
You can't upgrade to any faster, & especially not to an Intel CPU needed to run Lion/10.7 for full iCloud usage.
You can have limited use of iCloud the way it is, you can view all of iCloud in a Browser, You can use Find my Phone I hear, & you can use IMAP Mail for syncing, but no other syncing.

  • ICloud on older Mac running 10.6.8 - with Intel 2 GHz Core Duo

Do I understand correctly that I can't upgrade to iCloud from Mobile Me, with an older Mac running 10.6.8 (with 2 GHz Intel Core Duo)?

This will be the situation with Snow Leopard if you migrate your MobileMe account:
Your email, calendars, contacts and bookmarks, and 'Find my iPhone' will be migrated to iCloud.
Your iDisk, together with website hosting and Gallery, will continue to work as before until next June.
Syncing of Dashboard Widgets, Dock Items and Keychains between Macs, and Mail Accounts, Mail Rules, System Preferences, Signatures & Smart Mailboxes between Macs & iOS devices, will cease altogether.
You will be able to access email, calendar and contacts on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided your browser is reasonably up-to-date.
You will not be able to sync contacts or bookmarks from a pre-Lion Mac.
You will be able to enter the server settings for email manually in the Mail application and access your email.
You will not be able to sync your calendars directly.
Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point. BusyCal is an iCal-like calendar application with extra facilities: it can sync with the iCloud Calendar while running on Leopard, Snow Leopard or Lion.
There appears to be no method of syncing contacts (though Address Book on a Mac can be synced with Google or Yahoo address books - I don't know how reliable this is).

My Windows 7 Professional desktop system hard disk got corrupted and I took the opportunity to install an SSD for a new system disk and reinstall Windows.  The system is up and running on the SSD, with my old system disk now used for storage as it is still readable.  The only Adobe product I have reinstalled so far is Reader XI but I would like to reinstall Elements 8 and Acrobat 9 without taking up more licences as both are also installed on my laptop.  Can you point me to the best way to do this?  - Thanks

If you have the two allotted activations already and one was lost on the hard drive that failed then you need to contact Adobe Support thru chat and ask them to reset your activations.
For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...

  • Will PE8 run efficiently on a Mac running Parallels?

Hi. I'm on an Intel iMac. I'd like to try out Premiere Elements 8 but since Adobe has not put out a Mac version............I'm wondering if I went to the trouble of getting and setting up "Parallels" on the Mac.....if it would run the Windows version of PE8 efficiently enough to make it worthwhile as I know that Parallels would slow the program down to some degree?Yes.....I've thought about using Bootcamp.......but in my case .....when I'm editing, I usually have 2 or 3 supporting applications open at the same time (an image editor, audio editor, animation app) and am switching back and forth in the different apps while I work on and import/export various files which would mean I would have to be continuously booting back and forth between the 2 OS's.I'm wondering if anyone has 1st hand experience in trying this out and if so how well did PE8 run for them with Parallels? How much of a speed decrease in the program did they notice? Thanks for any help.

I use Premiere Elements 8 on a dual-boot iMac (Boot Camp) running Win 7. It works great!
On the other hand Parallels is much less efficient, since it splits the power between Windows and OSX, so I've no idea what your results will be. My guess is that it's not the best way to go. But, of course, it depends on which iMac you're using, since they range from fairly basic to somewhat powerful. (You'd certainly have better luck with a Mac Pro -- but, even there, VirtualPC and Parallels does not perform well with intensive Windows apps. And Premeire Elements is certainly intensive!)

  • Antivirus Software On a Mac running Parallels 9 with Windows 7

I converted to a Macbook Air last fall and have found that the general online consensus is that it is not necessary to run an anitvirus software.  However, I run Parallels 9 on my Mac, so that I can run a virtual Windows 7 environment (needed this for work).  My question is should I run an AV software in my windows platform?  I've searched the support for both Parallels and Windows and haven't found answers.
Thanks in advance for any advice that can be offered.

Windows is still Windows, even when running on a Mac.
Viruses that are downloaded into the Windows part *almost never* cross into MAc (never say *never*), but viruses can corrupt the windows install to to pooint it is unusable.  Always use both common sense and antivirus for Windows in the windows install.

  • Error installing cc on mac running parallels win 7 pro

    new mac arrived today
    installed parallels
    installed windows 7 pro
paid for lightroom and photoshop on a monthly basis
    tried to install creative cloud
failed and failed and failed and failed......
    error 1001.
spoke to adobe support in timbuktu, absolutely useless.
anyone got any pointers on this?
if not, going for a refund.
    thanks guys.

My understanding is that CC, unlike previous versions (CS6 and before) is not platform specific. So (silly question) why try to run CC in Parallels/Windows instead of natively on the Mac OS?

  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 activation issue on MAC running Parallels Desktop for Windows 7

I have a MacBook Pro laptop running both OSX and Windows 7 (using Parallels Desktop). I installed the MAC version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 when I booted in the MAC OSX mode. I also Installed Adobe Photoshop 10 in the Windows 7 mode (running as a virtual machine using Parallels Desktop). Both programs indicate that they are activated. If I boot the computer in the Windows 7 mode (not using Parallels Desktop) and start the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 program it indicates that it is NOT activated and that I "already have two copies activated".
Question: Since I only actually have two copies activated how do I get the program activated for the Windows 7 boot operating mode?
    Thanks in advance.

  • HT1661 I have a mini mac osx lion, I have an external hard drive with my files from my pc that crashed. my mini mac is now running parallels desk top 7 and windows 8 consumers preview. can I simply plug in the extral hard drive to upload my files or ?

how should I upload my pc saved files to my macmini with paralle desk top 7 running windows 8 consumer preview

    Worst... Win 8
    2nd worst Mountain Lion/10.8.x
    3rd worst Lion 10.7.x
    4th worst Windows ME.
5th worst, geez, I'm not sure!
As far as Windows goes, I think more things have gone backwards since XP, W7 improving on Vista, but...
As far as OSX goes, more steps backwards than forwards since Tiger/10.4.11
Even Linux is going backwards now... & it wasn't always that easy to start with, it's outdone it's usefullness trying to incorporate the worst features of Windows &
    OSX!
I totally agree on the Backup thing, but which exact 3 TB are you thinking of, many are worthless & unreliable???
And BTW, I think Time Machine is the worst backup solution ever invented, but if you have trouble using a TV Remote, it's better than a swift kick in the pants!

  • How difficult is it to load software on to a Mac running Lion that was written for Windows Xp,Vista. Can it be done without causing major issues.

I am interested in getting a medical simulation program but it is available for Windows only. Is it possible to run it on a Mac system?

    You'll need to buy:
    - a Windows emulator for Mac
    - a version of Windows to run in the emulator
I dimly remember putting that stuff on my wife's computer several years ago & it's been fine.
    Google: windows emulator macintosh
Macs used to come with their own Windows emulator, but you had to log off one OS & log on to the other one.  Flipping back & forth was not good.  A better approach allows you to flip between OSs like flipping between applications.
I seriously down if you can still buy Windows XP.  Stay away from Vista.  Windows 8 gets good press.

  • Recurring Issue: Firefox repeatedly identifies my Mac running OSX10.7.5 as a Windows PC. I have overridden once but cant find instructions again.

This has happened before and I was able to find instructions to override it, but can no longer find them.
Firefox is mis-identifiying my operating system as a version of Windows and as a byproduct, any download files are submitted as the Windows version rather than the Mac file type I need, including but not limited to my Firefox updates.
I work in a web development shop and have spoken to my local Mac store but none of the staff have ever heard of or come accross this issue before. It took months of frustration, searching and experimentation to find the solution the first time.
The instructions I found involved using a Firefox URL to access my computers Firefox profile and override the information within.
It would be great to have these instructions again for future use, but better would be to find a way to make this stop happening.
    Thanks for your help.

  • I have tried many approaches to sharing my mac based printer ( usb connect ) with my Windows 7 Toshiba including bonjour.  No can do.  Bonjour recognizes a printer that doesn't exist.

Lion printer sharing problem.  Using Epson Artisan 810 usb cabled to Imac Lion 10.7.2.  Can't get my Windows 7 computer to print using bonjour over my network.  1st Windows recognizes Artisan 810, then it shifts to a non exixtent computer.  Whatever, no printing in windows7

Lion works fine, however first do as I instructed to ensure the settings are correct on the Mac then make sure you run Software Update on the Mac to see that you have the most up-to-date drivers. If you do then the problem is almost certainly a Windows 7 problem. You have to make  sure the counter part to Sharing is turned on correctly on the Windows box. Because I don't speak Windows I can't really direct you however I'm sure if you Google something like Printer Sharing Lion & Windows 7 you will find some instructions.

  • Mac OSX Leopard behaving like any ordinary Windows system?!?

I have been having a variety of issues since updating to Leopard. I have been a very satisfied mac user for over 7 years with no issues or needed support. Installing Leopard has put all that down the drain. I have a Dual 1.5 ghz Power G4 and 1.5 gb of ram. This computer has enough computer power to run Leopard. With that aside, Apple now says we need to have supported video cards, only to find that out AFTER buying Leopard and installing it. How can you release an OS and have to change a video card recently purchased before Leopard.. My computer used to run flawlessly until I updated. My computer does random "PC like" freezes and I have to sit for 5 mins until it snaps to it. Sometimes just to have Safari load or to Send an email..When the beach ball comes out, (I'm never in the mood to play when it does) I can't even force quit. I have tried the reinstall, a clean install, and even reinstalling on a different hard drive, and the same issues. Yes, all 3rd party software/enhancers were erased when I reformatted my drive and did a clean install.. Also, I cannot open Activity Monitor because I get a message that my permissions need to be repaired.. OK, that would be fine, if disk utility didn't freeze also.. Leopard has some amazing ideas and great tools, and anticipated the long waited release, but if they cant be used and/or start behaving like a PC....., then what's the point?

I don't think your lockups are caused by the video card, although not having a Core Graphics compatible card will kill a lot of the new effects and make the remaining ones very jerky. In my case, I was getting the interminable hang-ups and beachballs until I did a clean install without "Archive and Install" or "Migration Assistant". I had to keep the install absolutely clean, and manually copy over documents ONLY.
Further, I found that my external subwoofer (iSub) and one of my external drives were causing problems. Much better without them.

  • Fails to learn mac address on Fiber interface with ISP

    Hi,
We have a problem to bring a new 3750 switch interface up with the ISP.
Current interface configuration on the router 7500 with SC/Single mode 1000 Base LX is
    interface GigabitEthernet4/0/0
    description ###### ISP #######
    ip address 1.1.1.2 255.255.255.252
    no ip redirects
    no ip unreachables
    load-interval 30
    no negotiation auto
    no cdp enable
    end
    works perfectly fine.
we are trying to move this link to a Cisco 3750G on SFP single mode 1000 baase LX with the same configuration as below
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/51
    no switchport
    ip address 1.1.1.2 255.255.255.252
    load-interval 30
    no ip redirects
    no ip unreachables
    no cdp enable
    speed nonegotiate
we dont get any errors on the link but it fails to learn the mac address from the isp.
    checked the following.
    1. tried changing the SFP and the fiber.
    2. checked internally connecting back to back with another cisco device - works fine .
    3. checked with the isp for any static arp on their side and it is a no.
I am wondering why it fails to learn the mac-address when it can self ping its own ip address and also the layer stays up with no errors on both the sides.
    Thanks

Doesn't feel like a fiber/optical issue but a configuration mismatch on one of the end devices.
