CS 5 extended Panasonic FZ1000

My new Panasonic FZ1000 has presented me with a problem. My PS CS5 Extended program will not open its RAW files. The documentation for the new Camera RAW 8.6 plug-in reads that it updates PS and allows the RAW file processing but it starts with CS6. Is there a plug-in update that will allow RAW processing of files from the Panasonic FZ100 in CS5 Extended?
THE DNG converter worlds but I was hoping for  amore direct solution.
Dan

For $400 you can upgrade your CS5 to CS6 extended or $10 a month for a subscription to the cloud. Your choice...
With the subscription you can install subscription PS versions:  CS6 13.1.2, CC version 14.2.1 and CC 2014 version 15.
ACR 8.6 has more features in the CC versions of PS  then any CS6 version.

  • Panasonic FZ1000 RAW not working in Aperture

My FZ1000 RAW files are not able to be read in Aperture (getting "Unsupported image format" message. RAW support for the FZ1000 was added in Digital Camera RAW 5.07, which I downloaded and installed. When I go to About Aperture, it's showing DC RAW 5.07, build 760.1 but yet it's still not working. I have rebooted my Mac but still nothing.
I'm running Aperture 3.5.1 with Mavericks 10.9.4. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

I removed them from my library then reimported them and all is well now.
Yes, that forces the reprocessing.  Instead of reimporting it might have helped to reprocess the RAW with "Photos > ReprocessOriginals".

  • RAW Update for Panasonic FZ-1000 (Aperture 3) ?

How can I Work with RAW Picture from my Panasonic FZ1000 ?

The RAW format is not yet supported  (http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html). You could use the Silkypix software that comes with Lumux cameras to develop the RAW files and convert them to another lossless format, like TIFF and import the converted field to Aperture.
Or try, if Adobe's DNG converter can develop the RAW files. Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh

  • How to use iMovie HD in Yosemite!

Thanks to Ziatron for discovering this.
One goes to the crossed out iMovie HD application, right click on it, open package contents, then macos, then right click on iMovie HD which opens in terminal. No worries, just leave the terminal window open, and use IMovie HD as you usually do.
It works. I put a mp4 into it from my panasonic fZ1000, and then exported a video to my desktop. Might be things that are a little wonky, but at least the application works.
Just remember to not close the terminal window until you are done with HD
I clicked on everything I could, and played with the code, but missed this solution.

Thanks to Ziatron for discovering this.
The credit really goes to the man below.

Find iMovie HD.app, control click on it and View Package Contents. Open Contents/MacOS/iMovie HD. That seems to bypass the check.
There are more details on this procedure below.
You can use iMovie HD for a bit longer...

  • 4K success in PrE 13

PrE is one of the cheap video editors aimed at amateurs.  The 4K video format is new and there are only a few cameras or camcorders amateurs would buy that can create 4K clips.  Among them are the Hero 4, Panasonic FZ1000, Sony AX100, a Samsung smartphone, a Samsung tablet and the Panasonic LX100.  Disregarding the phones, tablets and GoPro, the LX100 is the lowest price entry point.  Out since October, it is getting rave reviews for being compact, having a fast Leica Lens and a M4/3 sensor.  Rumors are that there will be a lot more at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
Adobe's competitors in the cheap NLE market are Sony, Cyberlink and Corel who brag about 4K capability in their marketing and specifications.  Nowhere, that I could find, in Adobe's marketing for PrE 13 was there any mention of 4K.
Why shoot in 4K when so few have 4K viewing capability?  The bit rate is a lot higher.  The theory is, that since the 4K files are three or four times larger than the HD 1080p60 files we are used, we should have more "Photoshop like" creative editing opportunities.  Results from color, exposure correction, cropping and shake control should be better.  The 1080p output we create for our HD TVs, can be better if our original clips have more data.
My dear wife surprised me with a Panasonic LX100 for Christmas so I could scratch the 4K itch.  Would PrE 13 stand up to the job?  Or, would I have to learn how to use Sony's Home Studio?  When I started with PrE, it was version 9 and I had one of the first AVCHD camcorders.  It was not until PrE11 that Adobe fully caught up with AVCHD.  Would 4K be a better experience?
Yesterday I took my new camera to the Oregon beach and shot a bunch of clips.  Last night I put them on my computer using Lightroom.  I don't use Organizer.  I used Lightroom to get rid of the duds.  From Lightroom, I exported clip copies to a PrE13 project folder.  I was delighted they all showed up when I Added Media.  I dropped them all to the timeline and trimmed them by grabbing the edges.  I intentionally did not make adjustments, transitions, titles or do any color grading so I could test the "workflow".
I'm delighted!  It worked without flaw.  An appropriate 4K project preset was automatically selected, the preview window was smooth without jitter.  There are 4K output presets under XAVC-S, below AVCHD in Publish & Share > Computer.  The larger files were slower to render, but not so slow to be a show stopper.
The two and a half minute result is here:  https://vimeo.com/115617380
Obviously, the performance of any NLE is computer related.  I have an i7 laptop with lots of memory and a fast HDD.  If you want to "test" 4K clips in your system, I can put up some that are straight out of my camera.

Hi Bill. Always interested and happy to hear 13 works with 4K! I am one generation behind with the Pany G6 but veryhappy with it's results. My next project is to rebuild the computer to faster and deeper specs ( almost there )  ) also interested in going to lightroom as the organizer. Any advice there? I am still at ver 11 with elements but don't see a need to upgrade yet unless of course I upgrade to the G4. I'll start saving now.

  • Bug? Raw+Jpeg imports from an iPad mini

    Hi Everyone
I've come across a very strange importing issue with iPhoto 9.6 (910.29). I'm always on the go so I use my iPad mini as photo storage until I gain access to a computer. I’d take my pictures on the camera and then I’ll plug the sd card to the iPad and copy everything that is on the card (via the Apple Lightning to SD card Camera reader).
    I take pictures in (1) RAW only, (2) RAW+Jpeg and (3)Jpeg only.
When I import from the camera to the MacBook Pro directly via USB:
all the 3 formats are properly imported.
When I import from the iPad in iPhoto:
The pictures shot in (1) RAW only and (3)Jpeg only are imported properly
But when I import the (2) RAW+Jpeg ones, iPhoto will only import the Jpeg versions and will give me the error message "Unreadable file: The following files could not be imported. The file is in an unrecognized format" for the RAW versions of the same image.
Here is what I do not understand:
    - The RAW format that my camera uses (.RW2 for Panasonic FZ1000) is supported so there shouldn't be any issue.
    - (1) RAW only pictures are correctly imported
    - all formats are correctly imported when importing directly from the camera.
It seems this bug only affects RAW+Jpeg imports from the iPad?
Has anyone come across this issue before and if so, is there a fix or workaround? It is not that much of an issue as the RAW only files can still be imported from the iPad but I find this issue very curious.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Not sure about the fix but the workaround is to not shoot Raw+Jpeg, which is pretty pointless anyway, as importing the Raw to iPhoto means it creates a Jepg preview, so you end up with Raw +Jpeg+Jepg...

  • Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 RAW files support in Lightroom 4

      http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2014/07/camera-raw-8-6-and-dng-converter-8-6-now-a vailable.html
The above says that Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 RAW files are supported in camera raw 8.6.  I specifically checked before buying the camera.  Everything I have ever read on the Adobe website for some 3+ years said that if a file in supported in Adobe Camera RAW, it is also supported in Lightroom.  Particularly, the above URL did NOT give any warning about the FZ10000 RAW files NOT being supported in Lightroom 4.  I went ahead and purchased the FZ1000, only to find I'm now having problem with Lightroom 4 not recognising the RAW files at all.  I'm really annoyed, as I was so careful to check the Adobe website first.  WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH CAMERA RAW AND LIGHTROOM?????

I do appreciate the many RAW file formats being created by the camera manufacturers, as I have had varying cameras with the varying formats, and so am very aware of the whole business of making sure how those formats will fit into my software.  And, as already stated, appreciate Adobe's efforts to deal with all those formats.
This whole exercise has been upsetting, and there has been some good advice and info provided in this discussion.
And unfortunately, some input that has been a little too technical and not particularly helpful.  I feel that some of the input was a little too critical and didn't recognise that maybe some of us aren't so are highly involved and knowledgeable in Adobe products and the technicalities of how the software works, dot versioning of software, executable coding etc. because we don't need to, and shouldn't have to.  I have bothered to learn Lightroom well in terms of its functionality including matters raised by you (eg making LRoom edits visible in other software, knowing that LR is not making changes to the actual files, rather they are in sidecar or xmp files etc.).  I have bothered to learn a reasonable amount of computer-related info to understand things in plain English terms, such as "to have PShop and LRoom to recognise my RAW files, I need to have ACR.  To have them run on my PC, they must be compatible with Windows operating system version xxx.  For many people, this level of knowledge should be enough.
I have NOT said I expect Adobe to get advance copies of file formats from manufacturers;  I have NOT said that I expect Adobe to support every new camera model immediately.
The technicalities of the coding and whether Lightroom "uses" the ACR plug in or not is not quite so much the issue, and I don't find the statement that "Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in" helpful.  I don't think it's really right either.  Lightroom - one way or the other - DOES "USE" ACR as the ability of Lightroom to recognise files is very much dependent on the version of ACR that you have.  LRoom may not use the ACR plug in as PShop/Bridge in the exact same way (eg for the actual editing of files such as exposure, white balance etc.), but Lightroom DOES USE the ACR PLUG IN.... in regard to the file recognition issue.
And Yes....  I made a mistake.  Somehow, despite what I thought were good efforts to research the Lumix's support in PShop CS6, Bridge, ACR and Lroom 4, I got it wrong.  I will accept that it was my mistake and I'll accept my part in this, but I won't be made to feel that that it's been "totally" my fault, stupidity, whatever.
Thanks to all the people who have provided useful comment and input to my original question and subsequent responses throughout this discussion.  I will indeed now consider options like the DNG converter.  I was aware of the whole cloud thing, and had been thinking I would upgrade in perhaps a couple of years time (for both Pshop and LRoom) - I'll have to consider upgrading sooner rather than later.

  • Camera Raw update for Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000

    Hi.
I have Elements 11 and need to update it to open .raw files shot with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000. I can't find the link where I can download the camera raw update.
    Can you please help me?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The FZ1000 requires camera raw 8.6 which is NOT compatible with PSE 11.
You will need to upgrade to PSE 13 or use the DNG converter.

  • Mirror and Extended Desktop - Panasonic 42" 720 image cropped

I have my 15.4 macbook pro connected to a Panasonic 42" 720 HDTV via the mini displayport. In both mirror and extended desktop mode, the Panasonic image is cropped off on all four sides. I fooled around with all the resolution settings and nothing changes.
No matter what I do, the menu bar and dock get cropped off by a few pixels. How can I fix this?
    thanks

Right, your TV is overscanning. That's very common. Overscan has been part of what TVs have done for decades.
If your TV is meant to be compatible with computer output, there should be a way to set the screen size using the TV's remote and/or menu system so that computer output just fills the screen. So check you TV's user manual about making a connection to a PC for information about how to get rid of overscan on the TV.

  • Opening RAW photos from Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera

I am trying to open without success RAW photos from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera after downloading and installing Camera Raw 8.6.  What is my problem?

Can you upload one of these raw files that don't work for you to a place like www.dropbox.com and post public download link to it?  Either something is wrong/different with the files from your camera or something is wrong with the software on your computer.  Being able to test a file on someone else's computer would help narrow down which.
    FWIW, I can open a sample FZ1000 rw2 file in PS-CC2014/ACR 8.6 from here:
    http://img.photographyblog.com/reviews/panasonic_lumix_dmc_fz1000/sample_images/panasonic_ lumix_dmc_fz1000_18.rw2
You might try downloading this specific image and see if it works for you or not.

  • LightRoom Support For Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 camera/lens

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ1000 has been listed as a supported camera since at least LightRoom 5.6 and the equivalent Adobe Camera Raw version.
I have both LR 5.7 and LR CC2015.  In the Develop Module, Lens Correction area, there is no Panasonic camera/lens listed in the drop-down list of Profiled cameras in order to enable profile corrections.
LR does display the Panasonic RAW files without having to convert to another format, but can't apply lens-specific corrections due to its non-listing in that area.
Why is it not listed and can I get it listed somehow?

I have both LR 5.7 and LR CC2015.  In the Develop Module, Lens Correction area, there is no Panasonic camera/lens listed in the drop-down list of Profiled cameras in order to enable profile corrections.
That's probably correct. The lenses from many cameras are not profiled by Adobe. It may be (I'm not sure about your camera) that the lens corrections are already applied by the camera, and so no additional corrections are needed in Lightroom.

  • RAW support for Panasonic DMC-FZ1000.

My research indicated 5.2 supports the DMC-FZ100 for RAW.  I just purchased and installed upgrade to Lightroom 5.2 from 4.4 but it does not support the camera in RAW.  Non-support message is received when trying to import RAW files from the camera.
    Help?

So, is it the FZ100  or FZ1000? The latter requires Lightroom 5.6 or newer. If you click on Help->Updates in Lightroom you will be guided to update to Lightroom 5.7.1. But when you start that version it will advise you that there is yet another upgrade. That would be to Lightroom CC/6. If you don't want to go that route right now just click on the ignore button in the lower left-hand corner of that notification.

  • New 13" Macbook Pro trying to connect to a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 as second monitor. I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. The Macbook does not sense the second monitor (TV). Help?!

I've been a Mac since 2008, so I know my way around the system pretty well. This issue, however, has me stumped. I had an iMac until now and only now am I experiencing some difficulty with my new MacBook Pro. The model I have is the newest 13" Macbook Pro model and I'm trying to connect a Panasonic VIERA TC-L42U30 42" HDTV as a second monitor via the Thunderbolt port.
It worked the first two times and hasn't worked since, after 10-15 attempts with different configurations, turning things on n off, restarting the mac, unplugging the cables, adapters, TV, resetting the P RAM, etc... I've used multiple hdmi-thunderbolt/mini displayport adapters and multiple hdmi cables and still no success. No matter what I do, the Macbook does not sense the TV as a second monitor anymore.
I took the MacBook Pro to the Apple Store, and their "genius" there had it working fine with a DVI connection to a regular monitor. The Panasonic TV I have has HDMI connections and one VGA connection which does not support HD, but no DVI option. I want an HD connection to mirror or extend my MacBook Pro screen. At the Apple Store, they didn't have a Thunderbolt/Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, so he could not try that out for me.
Anyone else have this configuration or another similar one with a Panasonic HDTV?
    Ideas? Suggestions? Anything?! Help!!
P.S. I'm running Mountain Lion, if that wasn't already obvious. Everything is up to date in my App Store as well.
    Thanks!

    Hi There,
I have had the exact same issue but with a projector.
The issue lies with Mountian Lion 10.8.2.
I tried many a combination with no luck to get HDMI working.
Took my mac into the apple store and came to the conclusion it was the software, so I asked them to install 10.8 onto it (this is destructive so a backup is a must)
Bought my macbook home and voila, now displaying through my projector.
There is a small graphics update after 10.8.1 which seems to be the cause.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • I am trying to connect an airport extreme to extend my wifi coverage and it doesn't work

I hope someone can help me.
I have an Apple Airport extreme gen 5.  I have a BT router/modem that I connect to my broadband and its signal is OK but not great.  I have multiple apple devices, a windows PC, and a Panasonic smart TV.
I also use Belkin poweline adaptors to attach the TV and apple TV to my network - its flaky.
I was trying to attach the airport extreme to a powline adaptor in the lounge to extend my wireless network - it was green for a while but then flashed orange and stopped working.
I have now reattached it directly to my router in the same room with an Ethernet cable and still get the orange light and the airport utility keeps asking to attach to the WAN port but then nothing works - I can still acccess the internet through my existing bt modem/router.
    Any ideas please?

Click the Wireless tab just below the row of icons
Make sure that the setting for Wireless Mode is set to Create a wireless network
The Wireless Network name would be the same name as the BT network
The Wireless Security would be the same setting that the BT router is using....should be WPA2 Personal or WPA/WPA Personal
The Wireless Password would be the same password as the BT network
    Verify Password
    Click the Internet icon
Click the Internet Connection tab just below the icon
The setting for Connect Using should be Ethernet
The setting for Connection Sharing should be Off (Bridge Mode)
Click the Update button at lower right of the window and allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart
Power off both the BT modem/router and the AirPort
    Wait a minute
Power up the BT device first for a few minutes
    Then, power up the AirPort
Everything above is a "quick fix".  If that does not work, we will have to start all over again from scratch.

  • How many times can I extend warranty (Thinkplus Extended Service Agreement)?

I have a T60, which came with an original 3-year warranty. Before the warranty expired in August 2009, I purchased Thinkplus extended service for 1 year (41C9279) for $199, which expires in August 2010. Can I purchase additional Thinkplus extended service for 1-2 more years before the August 2010 expiry date?
Lenovo still offers 1 and 2-year post-warranty services for my T60 (2007-C2U model), as this link states:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TPAD-PWMA
But I read somewhere that the warranty can only be extended once. Does that mean I cannot purchase more extended service agreements? And if I can, does the Thinkplus extended service also apply internationally, if the original warranty was eligible for international warranty?
    Thanks

Model 2007 is pretty well-covered when it comes to IWS, but without knowing what country exactly you're planning on travelling or moving to, it's tough to say.
    Here's the list, though:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/warrantyLookup.do?type=2007&iws=on&sitestyle=lenovo
As for extending warranty for another year, give Lenovo a call and check first hand. The rule of the thumb is that the machine can't be under warranty for longer than five years of the original purchase date, at least to my knowledge.
    Hope this helps.
