Hi,
I want to know the significance of the field
STBP-XTLTY in the function module CS_BOM_EXPLOSION.
From which table can I get this field for the BOM component?

STBP-XTLTY is the field to identify the type of BOM
Equipment BOM / Material Bom / Sales order BOM / Standard BOM / Functional location BOM
You can get the BOM components from STPO.

Error in using functional module CS_BOM_EXPLOSION

Hi Experts,
I am using the functional module CS_BOM_EXPLOSION to explode a BOM to its components. When it is beign called in a custom program, it throws an exception message as "No alternative found (Exception 01)". But when it is executed in test mode (tcode SE37), it does not issue such warning message and gives the result accurately.
Below are the parameters used for exploding the BOM.
        FUNCTION 'CS_BOM_EXPLOSION'
        EXPORTING
            CAPID = BOM Application; PP01
            DATUV = BOM Explosion date; System date
            EMENG = Base Quantity
            MTNRV = Parent Material
            WERKS = Plant
            STLAL = Alternative BOM
            STLAN = BOM Usage
            MEHRS = Whether multilevel BOM explosion is required (Then put X)
            MDMPS = BOM explosion level (Level 1, 2, 3u2026..)
Please provide me with a solution as to use the same in the program.

Dear Ramindu,
Ensure you are entering a value say 01 or 02 or 03 for alternative BOM.
A Product may be having one or more than one alternative BOM.
Say a product X has only one BOM,then in this case the value will be 01.
Suppose if its having 2 different BOM's then the values will be 01 and 02.
So in test mode you may be checking with a different material code and also giving 01 as the value for
the alternative BOM.
Check whether the same is happening in the custom program also.
Check and revert back.

CS_BOM_EXPLOSION :Looking for a general concept of function modules

Dear friends,
As i am new to abap world,i have a few apprehensions regarding using a function module.I am being asked to use CS_BOM_EXPLOSION to explode BOM list.I searched at google,found some pretty links and this suited to my requirements as given under.However what is not clear to me is that up till now i believe EXPORTING is what result i get from function module and importing is what i pass to function module.In this and many other examples i found that values are itself assigned to EXPORTING while importing are internal tables (probably) assigned to some structures standard used.
In short i am not clear how to use this function module.Could someone help ?

when you call the function module, EXPORTING is what you pass to the function module and IMPORTING is what the function module returns, TABLES again maybe returned by the function module.
You will need to define table types to get the tables data from the Function module.
ex : it_sTBD type table of tbd.
you will need to define variable to get the IMPORTING data from the FM.

Bypassing authority check in function module

hi experts
I have developed an abap report on material bom explosion using function module cs_bom_explosion
Its working fine and all data are coming ok since I HAVE THE AUTHORITY OF T CODE CS03..
pls note all bom fn modules checks for authorization .
However in production environment some users may not have CS03 AUTHORIZATION.
for them this report is not displaying any bom data.
Now the requirement is such that user will not have cs03 authorization,
but will see the bom data through this report.
so how to stop the authorization check for cs_bom_explosion in abap report.

as per my knowledge, granting the rights to those users is only the solution. Now a days the customers are wanting to add explicit authority-check too in the Z objects!! so, i dont see its good idea to bypass the check.

I want to know if there is any functional module in SAP which can gives Parent Material detail if I provide the child material number... (reverse to CS03)
I tried in SE37 but I am not able to pick the exact one.

Function Module to Release Scheduled Jobs

Dear All,
I have a requirement to create all the background jobs in SCHEDULED status, this is achieved by using the function modules JOB_OPEN, JOB_SUBMIT and JOB_CLOSE.
Now at a later point of time, i want to release only a few jobs, which were created using the above mentioned procedure. Insead of doing it manually, is there any way to automate this step ??

Call RFC Function Module and return 1000 records at a time

I would like to call a Remote Enabled Function Module from a non SAP system. This function module will select data from the database and return it to the calling program.
Suppose there are 100,000 records that need to be returned, but the calling module would like the data in chunks of 1000 records. Therefore the calling program would call the FM 100 times.
How do I code the function module to know on each subsequent call to grab the next chunk of 1000 records?

Hello,
Here is how you can go for this issue:
1. Create one RFC function module with following parameter. These parameters are with respective of chunking logic.
     Import: Package Size
     Export: Total number of records
     Changing: chunk count
Implement following logic:
1. First of you need to know how many chunks you need to fetch for that get the count of total number of records. This is one
    time activity so you better maintain one flag import parameter will be set to 'X' only first call.
2. Get the number of chunk using total number of records / chunk size for e.g. 1000 / 100 so chunk count = 10.
3. Define internal chunk counter in function module which will be used to locate the correct chunk depending on the chunk
    counter value sent from calling program.
4. Send first call with package size 100 and chunk count = 1, execute select statement and increment internal
    chunk count check if chunk count = internal chunk count in current case chunk count = 1 so exit select statement and return
    with first chunk.
5. Send second call with package size 100 and chunk count = 2. Execute select statement and check chunk count with internal
    chunk counter, in current case it will be 1 so skip that data and go for next chunk of 100 records increment internal chunk
    counter. In this case it will match with external chunk count = 2. load output table with that data and return to calling program.
6. Repeat step 4 until you reach last chunk.
You need to use SELECT...ENDSELECT with PACKAGE SIZE addition so for every loop it will return number of records mentioned in package size.

Hi Iam passing a table g_tab of length 376 flat structure to the function module..under TABLES section parameter.

iam getting a complile time error like the below displayed thing. Can u tell me how to solve this ?
In the function module interface, you can specify only
fields of a specific type and length under "I_CDHDR".
Although the currently specified field
"G_CDHDR_TAB" is the correct type, its length is incorrect.

probably u making a mistake while declaring the table
declare it like this in the tables section:
S_JOB LIKE RNGE_OBJID
where s_job is the internal table name and RANGE_OBJID is a structure type and NOT an internal table type.

-o Restart of the J2EE instance and try re-importing the RFC model. Sometimes it helps.
-o Logon into WebDynpro Content Administrator as a J2EE Admin and check if the JCO Connections and User /pwd of your application is correct. You can ping or test your JCO connections. if something is wrong, enter the values again for JCO n retest them.
-o Try undeploying or removing the complete application and redeploy it.
Tu undeploy please go to
Go to Visual Admin -> Server -> Services -> Deploy ->

Under Runtime Tab
select the server, open the tree , you would find the webdypro list there.
Now select an application, first stop it, remove it and redeploy if necessary.

CNTL_ERROR while calling a function module from Java webdynpro

I am calling a RFC function module from javawebdynpro app
which inturn calls a function module performing BDC on CAPP transaction. When I run this from SE37 of the same system or a different system everything works fine. But when called from Java webdynpro app, it raises a CNTL_ERROR exception and creates a short dump.
Any help on this is highly appreciated

Good catch, BI Learner. This was exactly it: when assigning the values from SOURCEFIELDS directly to the import/export parameters, you have to make sure that the types are EXACTLY the same, otherwise it will not work (the routine stops with an error when calling the FM, but there is no dump).
Therefore, to solve my problem, I created the declarations precisely as expected by the FM and assigned the values to these fields:
