CS? CC? IDK.

I've finally gotten to the point with my art that I want to switch over from my practice/amateur graphic design program to a serious, more developed progam, and have been psyching myself up to buy Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design Standard; so, imagine my surpirse when I go on the Adobe website to research more and figure things out, and find 'Adobe something Creative Cloud' plastered everywhere. What is CC, and how does it differ from CS? What does it do? What is the prupose?
In the end, should I bypass CS6? I don't care to share my art or whatnot, or anything fancy of the sort; I just wanna draw and practice my art.
Also, what is it when I go to browse for CS6 prices, I find the listing 'Upgrade of 5.5' or something of the sort. Am I right to assume that these are upgrade programs for previous CS programs? They aren't listed like that in the description, so I'm not sure what it means...

Adobe has moved its' products to a subscription model. Creative Cloud.
Instead of placing a serial number into the products,you agree to a $50 monthly charge and basically you have anything you need. PS, AI, InDesign, Premier, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat to name a few. Stop paying and the software is de-activated.
The upside is no more upgrades to buy. They pipe in the latest versions as part of the deal. Instead of having to buy separate licenses for Mac and PC, your two activations can be for a Mac and a PC.
The CS model is forever frozen at CS6. You might think of CC as CS7. You do pay a one time fee, $1299 for Design Standard,but it's yours for as long as it'll run on your computer. You buy either a Windows or Mac version. If you already own 5.5 or 5, the upgrade price is lower.

I certainly owuld not get the 16 Gb. My old phone had 32 Gb and it was pretty much full. I just depends on what you wan tto place on it in the way music, apps, videos etc

Yes. You can set the payment method to "None" once you log into iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have it set up this way.

I would try it on a PC and see if you can format it, then put it back on the Mac and try again. If it's not seen on a PC, then there's the strong likelihood that there's a hardware issue; either the bridge/chip set or the HD itself is dying/dead. There's also the small possibility that the cable is faulty, so I'd try a different cable too.

If the old laptop was a mac also, then use your Time Machine backup to restore you user settings and files.

Thanks, I'm typing this message from an external keyboard borrowed from one of my schools iMac. It is working fine so could this be a serious hardware issue? I upgraded the RAM from 4 gb to 16 gb thinking that would solve the slowness/beachball issue but it didn't. Could it possibly be a faulty SATA cable or time to upgrade my hard drive as well?
I'm feeling like this is beyond my reach and do not want to damage my MBP further. I'll shut it down and take it to the tech store on campus and hope they have mercy on my wallet. Thanks for the help.

My iDVD always says "it was an error during the movie encording" and it suddenly stops burning idk what to do!

Ok so i'm trying to burn a short 10-min-long film to a DVD via iDVD.... i've worked with it before and never had any trouble.
But i havent used it for 3 years now probably, and as i made the DVD menu and sub-menus for this project i worked normally
as i always did, it was easy and everything worked just fine.
The only difference this time is when i click "burn" it starts processing the menus but when it's done, instead of going to the next step which is
processing the slideshows, it automatically stops the burning and it says "there was an error during movie encording" idk why it always comes out,
what i'm doing wrongor if it just doesnt work anymore :S it also opens a new mini window that says "you have insterted a blank DVD.
Choose an action: (open finder) (open iDVD) (open iTunes) etc" so this tells me it's reading it...
i've picked all the options and it still doesnt work with any of those at this same point. I've also tried changing the preferences, the screen mode,
the video quality, EVERYTHING! nothing works! DX
anyone knows how to fix this?

So today, I deleted that original file (this gave me the ~18.5 GB free) off my internal HD and tried to burn the project.
So the DV file iMovie is using is on the external again? If so I assume iDVD knows that...
Have you tried making a disk image?
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save As Disc Image...

This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. Then click the Burn button.

Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

You could go to the iDVD 5 group and search the group for that error code. There was plenty of those there. Not much here.

You broke it, you will need to get it serviced or replaced. The drop voided your warranty so you would have to do an out-of-warranty replacement with Apple.

It's very odd they should be appearing in the library twice. But, go to Settings > Store and unselect the option to "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases."

IDK : How to retrieve the kd document's icon

I am using ALUI G6 portal and IDK.
I want to list all the documents from a specific kd folder and display their icon (this icon is based on the content type) using the IDK.
When performing a search, I can get the icon URL using :
ISearchResult.getFieldAsString(PlumtreeField.ICON_URL)
Is it possible to retrieve this same information from an IDocumentManager ?

Indeed I can limit the PortalSearchRequest, and if it's not possible to display the documents icon using the IDocumentManager then I will use it.
The truth is I don't like to use a feature to perform something it wasn't designed to : I want to use the PortalSearchRequest if the user needs to perform a search. I do know where the documents are, therefore no need to search.
However, most of times the end justifies the means, so I'm pretty sure I will surrender to the PortalSearchRequest.
Ideas and opinions are welcome.

I have been doing some search and this is the problem:
IDK 6.0 uses an Axis.jar file with version 1.1 , if we create a WS client this Axis.jar will be replaced for axis.jar 1.4 and some methods that exists in 1.1 doesn't exist in 1.4.
so for what i´m understanding i can´t use WS client with IDK because some jar files are replaced by other ones ...
did somebody had the same issue ...or how can i had an workaround ? help please!

IDK for Lotus Notes/Domino

A customer has asked us if we can build an IDK for Lotus Notes/Domino in Lotus Script.
We've validated that it's technically possible and now it's time to figure out how to approach the problem from the business side, i.e. do we do it as a consulting project, a closed-source/for-profit product or as an open source product.
I'm leaning toward open source, but first I want to see if anyone out there would benefit from a Lotus Notes/Domino IDK (aside from this one customer of ours).

I quite new with OIM, but not at all... For sure, I need to configure a connector for Lotus Notes / Domino.
The main points in my question are (USING A connector for Lotus Notes / Domino):
- How can I create 1 user account (and related data), on different servers (IT Resources), with different "mail templates", when the data should be the same, and the user mail database, should only be a replica on the the 2nd server
- Maybe, I need to configure 2 distincts IT Resources, and run both (through Provisioning Policies), when I need to provision a user, as described in my scenario (above), right?
- In the 2nd server, I dont want the user to be created with a new mail database (neither new user data, as shortName, IDfile... ).
I want that same data, and a replicated mail DB is generated on the 2nd server (webmail server)
