CS-MARS-55, Version 6.0.5 'hanging'

Hi,
We've got a CS-MARS 55 appliance. I've got it running the latest version (6.0.5). It is currently collecting stuff from some ASAs, FWSMs, and various other stuff on the network.
When using the GUI, it'll often hang. Doesn't matter what I'm doing - often just clicking into the admin menus will produce it. It'll sit doing seemingly nothing, and won't ever come back. Going back to the main page sometimes makes it spark into life. Other times it'll still hang for a bit longer. The hanging can go on for five or ten minutes in some cases. Watching sysstatus in the ssh console doesn't show it doing much of anything, so I'm a little perplexed as to what it's up to. It strikes me as Tomcat being wierd.
Is this just a 'feature' of these appliances, or is there something wrong? Where's good to look to try and diagnose this?

It?s actually ridiculous? nothing works well after 20 hours of hassling with this!

?2- Well, I have been trying again to transfer songs to my Zen and I have NOT noticed any improvements with the upgrades... I have never seen my system misbehave so bad with any other applications... SOMETHING is making my computer act in such a weird way. Example. click on a Creative Icon... And it does not open until 0 seconds later. On the CMedia Explorer.... Version 31.3.0 hangs on Windows 7, for 2 IMAP servers and for yahoo

Just upgraded to 31.3.0 on Windows 7. I have 2 IMAP servers and yahoo accounts configured. Thunderbird client just hangs there (shows Searching... at the bottom), doesn't show any emails. Also, unable to bring up various windows: Tools->Add Ons and Tools->Options do not pop any windows. Worked just fine in previous version.

New version of Firefox is hanging when trying to play a file from the BBC iPlayer

When trying to click on the 'Play' button on the BBC iPlayer site http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/radio/categories/drama, Firefox hangs and does not allow me to click on anything else on any of the open tabs.
If I use the task master to close Firefox and then try to reopen it, I get a message saying that it is already open. Only restarting the computer will allow me to start it again.

do some working around, remove the old version, download the latest version from mozilla official, and do the new install, and install the addons. update problems are more than you can think over, so just do a new complete for sure. update sometimes is really time wasting......

Safari Version 3.1.2 hangs whenever loading specific webpage such as Youtub

My Safari hangs whenever it loads the youtube hme page .. the version is Version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1) and i have tried to reset safari and also empty cache.. there is also a few website that will hang but the most guaranteed to hang is Youtube .. whenever i open i have to quit safari .. but for the facebook i am able to watch youtube video posted by other on facebk .. please help
My macbk is mac OSX version 10.5.5

Use Software Update (under the Apple menu).
10.5.8 is the newest OS for your machine and Safari is 4.0.5.

Version 6 and 7 hangs for 10 to 20 seconds and grabs all of CPU process

Using either version 6 or 7 on OSX 10.6.8 the browser will randomly 'hang' for ten to twenty seconds and become unresponsive. If clicking is attempted you get the spinning beachball of death. If you check the system activity monitor, it can be seen that Firefox is taking up to 100% of the processor time dring this hang. It also says that 'Firefox is not responding'.
After the hang everything goes back to normal.
This is annoying beyond the call of duty. I have started to use Safari and Chrome due to this hanging.
In fact it has just happened while I have been typing this and tried to use the text window scroll bar!
I have gone back to version 6 and it still happens.

Firefox version 3.6.10 hangs when loading a link in a new tab

My settings are to open links in a new tab. The Tab will show
'Loading... '
This requires exiting Firefox and reloading. Upon reloading the following message will appear
'Firefox is already running... '
It is then necessary to run the Task Manager and kill the process to reload
This is a constant problem after installing version 3.6.10. Does anyone have a clue what is going on. It is really getting annoying.

New Mac Version Flash Player Download Hangs Up at 95%

I've been unable to download the newest version of Flash Player to my Mac 10.8.5, because the download always hangs up at 95% complete. I've tried restarting my computer without success. What is going wrong and what do I do to complete the download. Previously my Flash Player worked fine, but I was notified that I need to upgrade to the new version. Now I have no Flash Player working. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Okay, I did as you said:
1)     I found the downloaded file in my Downloads folder that I downloaded from the Adobe website. The file name is:
AdobeFlashPlayerInstaller_12_ltrosxd_aaa_aih.dmg
2)     I then double-clicked on the icon so the Install Adobe Flash Player icon appeared. I believe doing this is what you called "mount the dmg." I this is not what you wanted me to do then I need an explanation of what mount the dmg means.
3)     The window with the Install Adobe Flash Player did not look exactly like the window in the PDF you sent me. Instead of just showing a small icon in the upper left corner with the file name under the icon Install Adobe Flash Player.app, the window that appeared has a large red band withe the Adobe logo in the upper left corner and a large lowercase "f" in the right side of the red band. The icon appeared below the red band and the file name was to the right of the icon and showed "Install Adobe Flash Player" and did not include the ".app" at the end.
4)     I then did a Control click on the Adobe Flash Player icon and which opened the same window that you showed in your response.
5)     I click highlighted on "Show Package Contents," which took me to the Finder window with the Contents folder.
6)      I click highlighted on the "Contents" folder and found inside slightly different list than you showed. My list of contents inside the Contents folder is:
     _CodeSignature
     info.plist
     MacOS
     Pkginfo
     Resources
7)     Although the list was not the same as the list you identified, both your list and my list did include a folder called "Resources."
8)     I click highlighted the Resources folder and found a different list than the long list you identified. I found these contents inside the Resources folder:
     app.bundle
     app.icns
     en.lproj
So … there was no COCOA installer to run … and I am still stuck and still need your help.

Why doesnt installing the latest or even the Mar 2010 version of Machine Vison over LV 2010 SP1 not show up Imaqdx USB options

I have LV 2010 SP1 developers package running on Windows XP. I wanted to add IMaQ to it and bought that option also just a few days ago. I tried installing both the 2010 version of IMaQ, IMaqdx (Machine Vision March 2010) as well as the latest version of IMaQ from the DVD (I understand from the compatibility charts, this is not an issue). Whatever I do, I dont see IMaqdx USB communication icons in the Vison and Motion functions. I tried using example programs as well as the existing camera controls in the NI-IMaqdx but there is a communication error. On the other hand, when I open an evaluation version of machine vision 2012, I can see this USB camera and communicate with it. I tried downloading the USB_graphics file listed and extracting it with the /x option which also didnt work. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to communicate with this USB camera ? I can try using a firewire camera but I wanted the option of several cameras hooked up to this computer. Thanks.

So to investigate this issue, we usually want to check if the camera works in Measurement & Automation Explorer first. This is the software that confirms that hardware is working with NI's drivers. You can open it by going to Start >> Program Files >> National Instruments >> Measurement & Automation Explorer.
Then, expand My System >> Devices & Interfaces >> NI-IMAQdx Devices, and then you should see your USB camera. Confirm that you can "Snap" and "Grab" here.
The other thing I can think of is that the March 2010 version of Machine Vision came out a year before LabVIEW 2010 SP1. Do you know what the CD has on it?

Firefox software update (to version 3.6.7) hangs

I am running FF v3.6.3. Once in a while I run manual update (Help > Check Updates) and today it showed that there is available v3.6.7. However, upon initiating the download and upgrade, the "Software update" pane is presented, with a progress bar working all the time and text "Connecting to the update server ..." - and stays that way for hours.
I have seen the same message couple of days ago on another machine, but have not given it much though.

Yep, same thing for me.. my download manager uses heavy js and FF 3.6.7 totally freezes, after I close the 3rd party download manager, FF then is back to normal.

Version 3.6.13 hangs every time I open it and during surfing on mac osx 10.5.8, lovely cathryn wheel of death any clues??

If I open FF from a link in email or from shortcut I get spinning wheel while it sorts itself out, this can take anything from 10-30 seconds
the same happens if my machine goes to sleep with FF open, takes ages to wake up. If ff is closed, no problem.

Firefox 14 keeps hanging severely ever since I upgraded to the latest version of Adobe Flash (11.4).

On September 22, I got a notification to update to the newest version of Flash (11.4). After installing it, Firefox (version 14) began to hang severely on some of my favorite sites, like DeviantArt and Facebook. After trying to process things, it gave up and wouldn't respond. After booting up in Safe Mode, I turned off the flash add-on, and everything worked fine, save for the games that required flash to play. As soon as I turned it back on, the hanging and unresponsiveness came back.

I wasn't able to get to any of those sites without having serious hanging issues. I just uninstalled Flash, rebooted, then reinstalled it. Everything seems to be working fine now.

I have been using DW 4.2 on 10.5.8 and the speed-up was the first thing I noted, too, so it isn't just SL.
Now if it would only 'come up for air' and respond to input to move window (so I can put it where I can see it if needed) I'd like that.

Aside from its obvious lack of the features just listed, HFS+ is limited in many ways by its dated design, which is based on HFS, *a twenty-five year-old file system.*
To give just one example, the centrally located Catalog File, which must be updated for each change to the file system's structure, is a frequent and inevitable source of contention. Modern file systems usually spread their metadata around, both for robustness (multiple copies are often kept in separate locations on the disk) and to allow for better concurrency.
Practically speaking, think about those times when you run Disk Utility on an HFS+ volume and it finds (and hopefully repairs) a bunch of errors. *That's bad, okay?* +*That's something that should not happen*+ with a modern, thoroughly checksummed, always-consistent-on-disk file system unless there are hardware problems (and a ZFS storage pool can actually deal with that as well). And yet it happens all the time with HFS+ disks in Mac OS X when various bits of metadata to get corrupted or become out of date.
Apple gets by year after year, tacking new features onto HFS+ with duct tape and a prayer, but at a certain point there simply has to be a successor—whether it's ZFS, a home-grown Apple file system, or something else entirely. My fingers are crossed for Mac OS X 10.7.
If Disk Utility was reliable in mapping out weak sectors (it is not) and report/log errors. But it doesn't and I trust my data to other file systems when possible. We've come to expect and depend on 3rd party utilities and that Apple First Aid doesn't fix every possible error.
Scanning one drive for errors can take a long time. Maybe it needs to be done, maybe in the background. With 2TB drives it gets worse. Spending hours to scan for errors??? I've set TechTool Pro to concurrently scan anywhere from one to a dozen volumes at once.
An ounce of prevention, as they say, is worth a pound of cure.

Firefox 8.0.1 hangs every time it opens. Where can I download previous versions of Firefox, please? (Have searched site for an hour)

Have already tried the various solutions suggested in support pages for this problem. Have also re-installed from full installation file instead of automatic update. Nothing helps.

Thank you, James. I will certainly use the url you provided to download v8.0 which is what I wanted. (BTW. I wasn't stupid enough to install Aurora when I saw it wasn't the file it was supposed to be.)
I agree that I should not have had to go to an unofficial download site. I'm well aware of the risks of using such sites. But I searched the Mozilla and Firefox sites repeatedly for several days seeking different version nos of Firefox (including 8.0) and my searches have returned no matches. If Mozilla allowed this url to be found, it would make things much easier.
I understand the concerns about security vulnerabilities but a version of Firefox that hangs (permanently) as soon as it opens is of no use and does not allow us to search for solutions. In this case, the only option is to downgrade and use that older version to get online and then search for possible solutions to the upgrade problems. It isn't about using the older version indefinitely, just for problem solving so we can upgrade to the latest secure version.

I had to uninstall firefox since it was causing so many problems with my computer. I was using the latest version 18. What is the problem?

I have had nothing but problems since I installed the latest version of Firefox version 18. It hangs up my computer no matter what I am doing. Even if I am not using the browser. I uninstalled it three times and the problems just seemed to be getting worse. I finally uninstalled it and did not reinstall it again. I am not going to use it again until the problems are fixed. I also don't know what funmoods is or whatever it is that replaced my google home page. I don't like software deciding what services I should use. I have been a firefox user for over 15 years. I have never had problems like this before. I have switched to Safari. It works without interfering with the other tasks I am doing on my computer. I don't know what version 18 did but the previous version of firefox I was using was perfectly fine. I had no problems whatsoever with it. It appears as if this version was not sufficiently tested. Also my daughter is having the same problems with her computer and they all started with the new version. So it isn't just me. At least give us the option of going back to the previous version and asking us if we want to upgrade when a new one comes out. However, I have never had these problems in the past with any version of firefox I installed. I like the features of firefox but cannot afford to keep rebooting my computer. It seems that firefox gets hung up and then hangs the computer up and I can't do anything else even if I am not using it. It seems to stay on in the background and hang everything up. Please fix this.

It most definitely is the browser that is causing most of the problems. I have used Firefox so long, I can't even remember. Maybe since its beginning. But today is a sad day. I gave up on it. I can't accomplish anything and end up spending hours troubleshooting. I see I am not alone. I am so sick of it "not responding." It's simply not worth it to spend so much time trying to make the thing work, so I can actually do something. Installed, removed, reinstalled numerous times, and I can't fix your software on my Win 7 Pro machine. No problems with IE or Chrome. So. as much as I hate Google Update, Chrome has won the test. Sad, sad day for me to lose Firefox, but it just does not work on the Win 7 machine. I don't have the same issues with the XP machine and have exactly all the same add-ons. Keep it up developers and you will have no Win 7 users at all.
