CS-Mars - verbose printers
The top source and destination hosts reported by Mars on our network have been identified as printers on HP Jet Direct(s). The volume of sessions reported is huge ... orders of magnitude of other workstation, server, and networking devices. The "real" data is being obscured.
The traffic must be reported by NetFlow because queries on IP addresses yield zero raw data. I guess, because of this, tuning them out as false positives does not appear available.
Question: Have any other Mars users experienced this and what was done?
TIA
From what I can tell, it displays 0.0.0.0 because the event was not triggered by the inspection of a packet with source and destination address or the source/destination cannot be derived from the logged message. For example, the event "inactive reporting device" from Mars does not have a source address and therefore displays 0.0.0.0.
Is this correct?

Safari Issues - Mavericks 10.9.1
Hi everyone.
I have been having major issues with Safari in the last week.
Basically, when I first open the App, it doesn't open. It is displayed in the Menu Bar at the top as being open, but it's not.
The only way I can actually get the Safari window to open is to Reset Safari from the menu (Which I have done).
All of my bookmarks have disappeared, and pages cease to load properly.
I constantly get the pinwheel of death, and can't exit out of tabs!
After browsing the support communities, these are the actions I have taken:
Reset Safari
Disable Extensions, Plug-Ins - Removed appropriate files from Library.
Attempt to access the Safari file in my library (see photo below - it appears to be somewhat missing? Along with messages and mail, which I have also had issues with, not a big deal because I do not use these apps frequently on my Macbook)
And lastly, I have reinstalled/reset Mavericks about 3 times.
I have copied and pasted the Diagnostic Report in hope that somebody is able to help me.
Please let me know if i've included the correct information and whether or not there is anything else I can provide to help diagnose the problem!

2 Printers (Lexmark and Samsung) and CUPS
I am attempting to get at least one of these printers working through CUPS (before I start in on trying to get Samba setup, but I digress). The two printers are:
Samsung ML-1710 Laser Printer
Lexmark z611 Ink Printer
At some point, I had the ML-1710 working on another Linux system (Gentoo), but I made the mistake up updating the system, and now cannot get it back working. As these are 2 printers with slightly different error messages, I will address them one at a time.
Lexmark:
I installed the printer following similar steps to a post I found on teh intarweb http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=83456
I modified the instructions for what I believe to be accurate for an installation of Arch. See attached code:
======================MY STEPS======================
tar -xvzf CJLZ600LE-CUPS-1.0-1.TAR.gz # extract the driver.

After cycling the services, and adding the printer through the CUPS web interface, I attempt to print a test page, and I get the following:
Lexmark "Cannot Process Raster"
Turn up the verbosity on the logging, and check what happens when I try again:

I am guessing this has something to do with the raster, but I am not sure what. I would like to get one of the printers working, and perhaps the other one will fall into place. I do not have the Samsung ML-1710 configured currently, as I decided to take that out of the picture for now (perhaps someone has some good information on how that is setup through Arch?).
Also, can someone explain to me why the CUPS Web Admin keeps trying to go to 127.0.0.1 when I am working on the system remotely? I am able to browse most of the pages through the IP address of the host, but when I attempt to do most administration (add/delete printer, print test page) the links point to 127.0.0.1. I do not have access to a web browser locally, as the SGS 1660 is a headless box.
Any ideas on issues seen I would be most appreciative of. Or if I can provide more information or logs, please let me know. Many thanks!skottish wrote:download the file from the 'Tarball' link.

I am trying not to be too silly, and I do appreciate the help. I suspect that there is something I am missing in the way of steps, and what I need to get installed. I am guessing that the package compilation need that C Library installed, but I fear breaking something else on the system if I go through, and yank that symlink. Any ideas on how to proceed?
Many thanks!
EDIT: I found this command in another arch forum post (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=209255):
pacman -Sf libstdc++5
Is is mostly safe to force that install?

I have three Airport Extreme (AE) routers in my home network.
The main AE is set up for wifi access. The other two are connected by ethernet cables to the main AE. My MacBook Pro connects to the network wirelessly through the main AE. The AE in my office has two HP printers connected to it by ethernet cables. I have a Kodak All-in-one that is connected by USB to my MacBook Pro.
I reset my printer connections on my MacBook Pro and had to add all the printers back to my printer list. I don't know if I understand what the checkbox "Share this printer on the network" in the Print & Fax System Preferences window is for. My guess is that I don't need to share printers unless they are connected to my MacBook Pro by USB, so I should uncheck the "Share this printer on the network" box for the two HP printers that are connected to the AE. I print to them over the network, but they're not connected directly to any computer. I thought if my MacBook Pro wasset to share them and was shutdown, the printers might not be available to my Mac mini or Dell PC, which connect by ethernet to the office AE (which has the two printers connected to it).
What should I do?
For printers connected directly to a Mac (or PC) by USB, check the "Share this printer on the network" box? In my Sharing Preferences, I check "Share Printers."
For printers connected to the AE by ethernet, UNcheck the "Share this printer on the network" box on my Macs (& PCs?) when I add the printers to my printer list? In my Sharing Preferences, I UNcheck "Share Printers?"

Things will be fine since the AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme will automatically search for a good wireless channel. If you assign a separate name for the wireless network, then devices will need to log in separately to this network. The extending device will need to be configured in Bridge Mode.
My suggestion would be to configure what is known as a "roaming" network in your question #2. In this case, you would assign the same wireless network name, security and password settings to the extending device and configure it in Bridge Mode.
The advantage to #2 is that you will be able to walk your laptop from a location near the Time Capsule and as you move close to the extending device, the laptop will automatically switch to pick up the stronger signal from the extending AirPort.
You are actually creating a separate network in #2, so you have the advantage of maximum bandwidth for both the TC network and the AirPort network.
Question - does the Airport Express have to be directly connected to the TC or can that connected be through a switched network?
I'm assuming that you are asking about an Ethernet switch here, correct? The AirPort Express or AirPort Extreme can connect to the Ethernet switch, or directly back to a LAN port on the Time Capsule, whichever is easier to setup.
Question 2 - assuming I can connect the Airport Express to the TC over a switched network, will "extending" the network using the Ethernet network still reduce my overall wireless bandwidth?
Connecting the remote device using Ethernet is by far the best way to extend a wireless network because it maintains maximum bandwidth on the network. This is the way that any good commercial network is designed.
Post back if you need any tips to get things setup. -
Convert xml to pdf and print on SAP printers
Hello All,
I've the following requirement:
PO layout (we are not using smartform or sapscript or adobe for printing. The PO template is an infopath file which generates XML and XSL) is in the form of XSL file and the PO data is in the form of XML (generated from ABAP itself). I merge this two files and apply call transformation to create a single XML file which has the layout information as well as the data.
Now the major challenge is to convert this XML file with the layout information and display it as a PDF in SAP GUI. Also, this PDF should be printable on SAP printers and not only local printers.
Asking you to help me as your time permits.
Regards
Aditya

Verbose EXPLAIN PLAN output when asking for explain plan on simple SQL
Hello. In a nutshell I have two issues: first, inability to execute EXPLAIN PLAN via SET AUTOTRACE ON EXPLAIN, and second, extremely verbose output when I log on as SYSDBA to circumvent the first issue.

So, first question, why am I getting this error? ALL_OBJECTS should be available to everybody, no?
>
Your user probably does have access to ALL_OBJECTS. But you need to have dba privileges to access views base objects.
The "ORA-01039: insufficient privileges on underlying objects of the view" message is telling you that the user does not have privileges to access the BASE OBJECTS that used to build the view. Access to those base objects is necessary to generate the plan you are trying to see.
So to circumvent this I log on as sysdba and get the second issue: the following extremely verbose output
>
And that is because sysdba DOES have access to the base objects of the view. You asked for a plan and you got it. That verbose output IS the plan and all of those oddly named tables are being accessed to satisfy your query so are included in the plan.
Do your query using DUAL or the SCOTT.EMP table and you won't get the error. -
Verbose mode message ??
I am unable to boot from my BU drive. Spinning gear. :-((
I get the following verbose mode msg trying to boot from the backup made with SuperDuper 2.1.4 ......
Mar 4 11:11:56 Launchd: Bug: launchd.c:1990:17: ioctl(s6, SIOCAIFADDR_IN6, &ifra6) != -1
What does this msg mean?
I have checked the BU with Disk Warrior---No errors
SpeeedyR
MacBook (2Ghz Intel Core Duo) Mac OS X (10.4.8) 74 Gig partition on a LaCie Group SA (GUID partitioning)This sounds like hardware error involving your NIC.
I know of others who have the same error message pop
up. You might want to have Apple check it out, the last
person I spoke to had to have their motherboard replaced.

Proper ASA-SSM-20 IPS and MARS Intergration
I?m trying to understand how to best manage my MARS and ASA-SSM-20 IPS implementation. I?ve been running this solution for about 2 months and have been experimenting with how to manage alert s from the blades to MARS.
The MARS documentation says to configure 2 Event Action Override -Verbose Alerts and Log Pair Packets. However there seems to be a major drawback:
1. The IPS generates alert for signatures that by default have no alert action configured. At first glance this seems ok, but over time I found that many false positives are generated for signatures that would otherwise remain quite.
My question is, how should this be managed? I want verbose alerts and logged pair packets for signatures that produce alerts by default, but if I manually configure this, is there a performance consideration? You might be hitting the bug CSCuc34812.
Please contact Cisco TAC to have the issue analyzed.

Why users are not able to see certain printers even though they are in the Airgroup server table
Q: Why users are not able to see only certain printers even though they are in the Airgroup server table ?
A: In certain scenarios we may notice printers come up under the server /cache entries on the controller.
However when an airgroup user does search for printer, they may not see all the printers, certain printers may be not visible .
This is because the service IDs sent by the user in the MDNS query are not broadcast by these printers
In the below capture the Ipad sends query for service id "_universal_sub_ipp_tcplocal" and "_universal_sub_ipps_tcplocal" and hence the controller will
respond with the printers that broadcasts these service ids.

In order to learn other printers we may need to use specific app provided by printer vendor on the client or configure the printers to send these service IDs.The net 451 issues made it not work after a while but it affected the entire RWW site not just remote access:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2014/01/13/troubleshooting-an-unexpected-error-occurred-message-when-using-remote-web-access-to-connect-to-computers.aspx
Careful if you try and uninstall it, you'll need to put back net 4.0 and reconfigure some stuff.
Did it ever work?
Make sure the users have installed the certificate they need and turn on compatibility mode in IE (also make sure IE isn't locked down and disabling activeX).:

IDS 5.x sig tuning event filters still showing in MARS
I have configured an event action filter on the IDS for a signature, and for my actions to subtract I have selected Log Attacker, Victim, and both, produce alert, and produce verbose alert. I am still getting alerts from my MARS box about this signaure from the IDS box. Any ideas as to why this is not getting filtered by my IDS?
Can you paste a copy of the alert as seen from "show events" on the sensor CLI?
Feel free to replace the IP addresses or other confidential information with XXX when posting the response.
My best guesses are:
1) An SNMP trap is being generated which forces an alert to be produced. If so then you also need to filter the requestSnmpTrap event action.
2) Your filter is not matching on the alert.
a) This can happen when a prior filter is matching the alert and the prior filter has "stop-on-match" set to "True". When set to "True" the "stop-on-match" parameter woudl prevent any later filters from being checked for that alert.
b) This can also happen when the fields in the alert are not an exact match to those in the filter. This is often the case when the alert is for a sweep of multiple addresses. Or if the alert is a Summary alert with the source or victim addresses and/or ports are not in the alert (or marked as 0.0.0.0). -
Specific documents 'tied' to specific printers?
Hi!
Rather puzzled - it appears that certain documents in Pages are 'tied' to one printer and others 'tied' to another printer.
Specifically, I have a low cost HP at home and a professional HP one at the office.
My documents seem to default to different printers, possibly remembering which one I used first.
Any solution to this?
Thanks

This behavior was described here many times.
It was already reported to Apple but it may be useful to
_Go to "Provide Pages Feedback" in the "Pages" menu_, describe what you wish.
Then, cross your fingers, and wait _at least_ for iWork'11

i have IPS 6.2 , added in MARS 6.0 .
the mars polls events from the IPS normally , &no problem with that.
but my issue : i configured some P2P signatures in the IPS with the actions (deny packet inline , produce alert , log pair packets). in the IPS device manager i can see in the events tap that the these flows dropped by the IPS as i need , & in the IP Logging tap i can see the dropped packets logs which is normal,
but my issue is that "i want a report or query from the MARS to show me the denied packets by the IPS " .System Rule: Resource Issue: CS-MARS.
This rule detects resource issues with the CS-MARS device, e.g. dropped events or netflow, etc.
Resource Issues: CS-MARS - All Events.
This report lists event details for all events related to resource issues with the CS-MARS device, e.g. dropped events or netflow, etc.
MARS is able to pull the IP log data from Cisco IDS and IPS devices, however, this operation is system intensive. Therefore, you should select the set of signatures that generate IP log data carefully.
When configuring the active signatures on a Cisco IDS or IPS device, you must specify the alert action and the action that generates the desired data.
To view IP logs, you must enable the alert or "produce-verbose-alert" action and the "log-pair-packets" action. "
It seems that the "log-pair-packets" is only an option to give you "IPlog" information on the MARS. -
Mar-2015 firmware for hp 8620 solves my issue with 6x4 paper not being picked up
I had continual problems with my hp 8620 not picking up 6x4 photo paper.
I tried a number of fixes as suggested elsewhere on forums. I had the most success with the "scan and copy 99 blank a4 pages" workaround, but half the time the printer would still fail to feed the 6x4 on the first go.
Good news though, the latest firmware dated Mar 17 2015 has resolved this for me, and maybe it will improve it for others with the same problem.
The firmware says:
"This firmware upgrade is for HP Officejet Pro 8620/8625 e-All-in-One Printers.
File name: OJP8620_R1502A.zip
Release details
Released: Mar 17, 2015
Version FDP1CN1502AR
Fix and enhancements
Improvement to connectivity robustness
Improvement to paper-path reliability"
The link is here: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Officejet-Pro-8620-e-All-in-One-Printer-series/53...I just spent several hours troubleshooting this printer. My rollers were all clean. I then used a bright flashlight and monitored thru the front what it was doing when trying to load paper.. There is a grey wheel that is lowered to the paper and rotates pulling the sheet in. It simply just isn't getting lowered enough because its just spinning on top of the paper. I've tried a dozen different types of paper from heavy/thick to thin. I've tried fanning the paper and I've tried not fanning the paper. I've tried a full stack of paper down to a few sheets and everywhere in between. This is just a flawed printer and based on the hundreds of people I see having the exact same issues with this printer so soon afte purchase is an eye opener. {Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted} I'm simply this fed up with my last several HP printer purchases. Anyone else that is as fed up with me please {Personal Information Removed}. I'm going to start tracking down as many people as I can. I'll likely move this discussion to a third party forum, hopefully one with a very high volume of traffic so if this post mysteriously disappears google search for it.

Upgrade SharePoint 2013 SP1 to CU Mar 2015 with Workflow Manager
Hi Guys,
I've tried upgrading SharePoint 2013 SP1 Farm to latest package of CU Mar 2015 today, I've been able to do so and ran PCW and everything seems ok at first glance.. except I have Workflow Manager 1.1. which was also configured on the same server and I was
using it to run my SP 2013 Workflows. Problem is now I can't trigger any of my Workflows.
Grateful if you could advise.
Thanks and Regards,
RhyanHi Rhyan,
After you install the updates and run configuration wizard, please check if rebooting server could help.
For troubleshooting the issue, we can check ULS log (may need verbose level) for more detailed information generated when we perform workflow trigger and issue occurs.

And also check Event Viewer to see if there are some related errors.
Thanks
