CS to CS3, can i export Actions?

Hi all, upgraded from CS to CS3. But i have a ton of Actions in CS - can someone tell me how to export the Actions from CS to CS3? Thanks.

first make sure they're organized into neat sets that make sense to you in cs. then i cs' action palette, click the flyout menu, select save action set. save em somewhere on your disk. in cs3 from the same flyout menu on the actions palette select "load actions".

  • Can you export actions?

I have recorded some actions in Photoshop and placed them in my own Actions group. I know they are there because I can use them when I open Photoshop but I am unable to find them anyplace on my system (I work on a Mac but I am not sure that is important). I was wondering if there was any way to either find those Actions or to export them to a file so they could be used someplace else (I had in mind importing them into Elements. I know that they might not work there but I wanted to try). So, is there any way to either find the actions I have created or to export them to an atn file?
    Thanks.

    > The flyout menu in the top-right corner of the palette is your friend...
I checked that before I posted and there is nothing there that seems to help me. When I open the flyout menu I get stuff like New Action, New Set, Duplicate, Delete, Play, Start Recording, Clear All Actions, Reset Actions, Delete Actions, Replace Actions and a bunch of others, but nothing like export or save to file. Is there something I am missing here?

  • In CS3 can I export my audio and save it to a CD?

Does anyone have experience exporting audio only to some file format and burning to CD?
Is it as simple as exporting AUDIO only as wav and burning the wave file thru WMP?
Message was edited by: Wes Cox

Yes. Export as Export Audio only. Check that Multiplexing is set to "None," which should be the default with the Export Audio ONLY checked. Then choose PCM WAV 48KHz 16-bit. This will create a WAV file, where you tell PrPro to locate it. This will be file that can be burned to a CD as data. If you want the full CD-Audio (CDA), Audition, Soundbooth, or the free, Audacity, can convert this to the CDA format, at 44.1KHz (CDA standard), and can burn to a CD-Audio. Do not know about Soundbooth, or Audacity, but Audition can even structure your CD-Audio with tracks, if you have more than one file.
    Good luck,

  • CS3 can not remember export location!!!

I can not believe that even this new version CS3 can not
remember the export location of slices. each export I need to
browse to my project folder. this was a known bug over all the
previous versions and it is still a huge bug!
    Mic

If you're talking about the right-click functionality: You
have to go to File -> export, and then export to your desired
location first (you can even opt to "export selected slices only").
Then when you right click and "export selected slice" it'll
    remember your location.
Fireworks has always been this way as long as I can remember.

  • Just joined PS cloud (free trial), can it use actions saved previously in old CS3?

Hi, I’m just having a go at the Cloud based Photoshop, and I’m currently on the free trial version Please can someone let me know if I can use my ‘Actions’ previously saved in CS3? – and if so, how to do it? Also can the Cloud version access RAW files? – and from all cameras? I have had compatibility issue in the past with RAW files? And also (sorry for all the questions!) – does anyone know if the Cloud version is compatible with the Topaz plug–in filters? – can these still be added? Thanks in advance, emma

Save out your CS3 actions from the actions panel flyout menu. Then load them into CC the same way. You need to save out action sets; not individual actions.
You should do some test runs to make sure they work as intended. Minor differences in behavior between versions can easily throw actions off - especially since exact commands are recorded (not "intentions").
Raw file support is added to new ACR versions as new camera models are released. Each new camera model requires specific support, and updating to the ACR version that introduces such support.
Don't know about Topaz, you'll have to check on their website. Don't copy plugins over from old version, you must install a plugin version that is compatible with the Photoshop version.

  • 2 different problems using Export Action

I'm using LR 1.1 and Photoshop CS3 on a MacPro and PowerBook. I created an identical Action in PS to use as an Export Action in LR. It was to export .dng files, open them, run Noise Ninja (many were high ISO shots), and some other things.
On one Mac, the files would only open in Adobe Raw Converter, so I'd still have to click to go further for each. With the other, I'd get an error message immediately in Photoshop once the file opened, saying "Feather Command not available". (I had done nothing consciously in creating the Actions (later Droplets) to put in such a command.
My guest teacher, who knows Photoshop (and Lightroom) far better than I, knows of now reason why such a "feather" error would come up.
Any reason why an Action written to be identical except for where the files are ultimately saved should work so differently on 2 Macs (both with OS 10.4.9)? Or how I can cure these problems? I'd love to be able to write more Actions to Droplets I can use as Export Actions from LR. (And some I've written *do* work, just not the last couple...)

I've modified the script so that it now actually works as I want it to (more-or-less).
I will look into using Get-Hotfix instead of WMIC to check that I am happy with the returned data.
Modified CSV (I changed the Patch column to a known value to simplify replace operation, I couldn't figure out how to replace " "):
    ServerName,OS,ServicePack,Patches,,,,,,,
    SERVER1,Server 2003 R2 Enterprise,SP2,None,,,,,,,
    SERVER2,Server 2003 R2 Enterprise X64 Edition,SP2,None,,,,,,,
    Working code.

  • Can't print in indesign (icc's) and can't export pdf for PS - booklet workflow?

I have a book of artwork i've laid out in indesign and am trying to print before binding it. All attempted workflows have been thwarted so far - any help is truly appreciated.
    a) printing with a canon pro9000 mark II:
Not possible. I've read into it, done plenty of tests and nothing comes close to a print of the same image from photoshop.
My problems - i can't disable canons color management when having indesign manage colors. The canon presests never grey out (as they do in ps) out and always (seemingly) apply their own icc profile in addition.
Possible solution (which comes close to but doesn't match my ps prints):
Disable indd's color management in edit>color_settings (emulate..off) (printer profile in indd's print settings becomes empty and unavailable) and have canon manage color under printer>color_matching>color_sync>my paper's profile.
This solution is not ideal so i want to export a booklet for ps instead. Here thwarting nr.2:
    b) osx Lion - can't export indesign document booklet as a pdf.
I've read other posts on this and there are workarounds through postscript but then i'd have to convert everything to cmyk if i understood this right. Not good.
Is there any way to print my book in indesign or get it into photoshop as a booklet? Ideally with the text still intact rather than flattened into an image?
I know there might not be answers to the specific issues above but i was hoping anybody could if not help me then suggest an alternative workflow. All i want to do is print my book reliably with icc profiles. Is this really not possible?
Thank you so much and all help is truely appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Danny
(i had a former post with a. as a topic which i will delete to avoid redundancy. Also - please forgive if this has been discussed before and point me in the right direction. Last not least i have read most threads on the topic so while a former topic might have dealt with my problems it's solution - by my understanding - didn't work for me. Example: postscript for pdf because of cmyk. At the same time i fully acknowledge i might just have not fully understood the solution. Thanks!)

I can't help with your color proplem -- don't know the printer -- but you can use a script to impose your booklet in a new file, then export that to PDF.
The two I use are by Dave Saunders. The first, http://pdsassoc.com/downloads/Buildbooklet.zip merely shuffles the pages in a new file. You then export that as spreads. It's very fast and easy, but cannot handle objects that cross the spine.
The second is at Dave's CS3 Booklet Script and works by placing pages into a new spread-size document. This one does do cross-spine objects, but neither one handles creep. It's been awhile since I used either, but I think bleeds may be an issue for the second script, too.
There are also imposing plugins for Acrobat...

  • Lightroom Export Action and Automator

Hi. Have an interesting anamoly that I hope someone an explain to me. I am trying to leverage Adobe Lightroom's export preset post-processing option to help in importing photos into iPhoto (where I can make easy use of the .mac photocasts). I created an Automator workflow comprised of the following actions: 1) Get Specified Finder items (with the export folder from Lightroom selected) 2) Get Folder Contents 3) Import Photos into iPhoto (with the delete source option selected).
I placed the Automator app, named "Import to iPhoto" into the Lightroom "Export Actions" folder and selected it in the post-processing drop down in my export preset. When exporting from this preset, the file(s) are exported as expected, however, for some reason the Automator action imports duplicate files into iPhoto for each photo exported. If the photos are exported separately without the post-processing export action, and then the Automator action is run manually, there are no duplicate files imported. Does anybody have any ideas what might be occuring here?

  • Export Actions

After processing, I want to export to two external drives in one operation. I'm assuming I can send to the second drive using an Export Action, but I can't figure out how to do this. Anyone?

Make an action in PS that does this, then make droplet of that, put into LR folder, run. Although I'd be inclined to just make a copy of the folder from time to time.

  • Can't export from Lightroom 4.3 -

Tried TIF,  JPG and web gallery.  I get the message, "file could not be written".  Just upgraded to 4.3 and I can't export any files.

    Hi there,
Have you been in touch with Adobe through a web chat?  That seems to be your best course of action.
I upgraded about a week ago and all the setting for export that I had been using on Lightroom 2 stayed the same and contnued to work.

  • Limiting the file size on Export Action

    Hi,
Is there an easy way of limiting the file sizes created by the Export action by simpoly stating the limit, for example 5MB?
    Thanks,
    Ronen

But you can proxy it by knowing that, say, a JPEG at 3000 x 3000 at 90% quality will be about 5 Gigs. - example, figures not meant to be accurate. Or a Tiff at 1000 X will be.....

  • Export actions parameters

Is there any way to change the parameters LR send to programs (WIN)?
For example i have a export profile that saves images to e:\export\web and then opens my FTP program (filezilla). I placed the filezilla shortcut to export actions folder... Now when ftp program opens after export, it ties to connect site called E.
Same thing with my email program thunderbird, opening it after export it reports "e is not a registered protocol".
Also i tried to edit export presets manually to add command line parameters to programs that are opened (forexample filezilla.exe -s defaulsite), but those parameters were ignored.

Yes you can drag files straight to filezilla. BTW if i change my export location to somewhere in F:\ drive LR now passes "f" parameter to programs. I would understand LR would pass the whole folder to programs or would not pass anything, but this is quite annoying. Or LR passes some arguments in "table form" where first cell is drive letter...
Adding web browser as an export action opens the file, so i believe the programs that i have used don't support the parameters LR is trying to send.

  • Export actions in merchandizing project in bcc 10.1

    Hi,
I was using the export action in a merchandizing project to dowload an xls of my media-internal assets.
It says successfully exported but not say where it has been saved. How to check where my assets have been exported???
Any pointers would be really helpfull.

It will show your browser's file open/save dialog for the generated Excel file and depending on your browser settings file may also get downloaded automatically. Make sure you don't hit ESC to close the success message notification that appears on screen as it can accidentally close the file open/save dialog as well.

  • Lightroom export actions crashes photoshop

    Hello
This is a problem that has eluded me for a while. Im running Lightroom 3 and photoshop cs5 (both have the latest updates) . Now I've created droplets that run various actions. In lightroom I export images and use export actions dialog box to have lightroom run the droplet.
However now I get a "photoshop cs5 has stopped responding" and a "droplets can not communicate with photoshop.
    Im running windows 7 64bit
    Things I've tried
    restarting both programs
    rebooting the computer
running lightroom and photoshop as an admin
recreating the droplets and telling windows to run the droplets as an admin
    Any help would be appreciated!!
